Found this today. File has a date of 11/20/19. I put in root and do manual update thru settings/update.
Magisk patched boot.img for the above 6T ROM.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1DIoNvGG81IC6FdWiOgSRawG0-eAKUqBF

I had a boatload of bugs with the OB1. I have a 6T converted. Couldnt answer or make calls, reboots, freezes, crashes, WIFI didnt work, no pic messages, etc. I just tested for a second and I could make calls and wifi works. Do not try to install the Magisk patched boot.img. It will give the problems I had with OB1. I tried.

Def works a lot better. No freezes or reboots. My phone was useless on OB1 and I didn't want to flash back to 9 and lose my data. I had to forward my calls to another phone and wait for an updated ROM. But this def fixed a lot of the problems I encountered.
Edit: Still cant flashboot boot twrp.img.(3.3.1-1) Same error as before (failed remote unknown command)

Here's a bonus: Magisk patched boot.img for this OB2. Tested and verified root and no problems. Patched myself. For 6T. Extracted the boot.img from the payload.bin and patched.

@shatty, thanks.
What did you do to upgrade ? Actually i'm in OB1 Android 10 and Root with patched boot. So you upgrade with OTA or local upgrade ? You loose Root, and you put the new patched in adb? IS it ok?
Thanks

If you're rooted use the same method as always, use local update ( you don't have access to incremental update anyway as you are rooted) and BEFORE rebooting go in Magisk manager and install Magisk again but on other slot. You don't need to play with adb or fastboot.

@Striatum_bdr :
Thanks, so download the update, do local update and after juste install magisk on the other slot.

It worked on my 6t converted from tmo. Anyone else try this patched boot.img? Why wipe? Upgrade works fine.

So after hours of using the ob2 I didn't have any freezes or reboots. 1000000x better than my experience on ob1

For now the right command is fastboot flash boot twrp mauronofrio.img version and then flash the installer zip through recovery.
It's a Oneplus's problem.
[EDIT 1]
After a few tries it worked! Now I try to install twrp (mauronofio version) and root the phone.
P.s. I'm trying to update (come form OB-1) I removed all magisk's modules, flashed magiks unistaller but the update with update manager keep failing...any idea?
[EDIT2]
ok, now I'm rooted and I've twrp but wifi doesn't work it's turn off automatically!
[EDIT3]
I've fix it! I've talked with mauronofrio and he said that it's due to flashing the twrp in the boot partition, so he suggested me two ways:
1. Root your device and flash the twrp installer using magisk manager
2. After the command fastboot flash boot twrp.img reboot in recovery, flash the stock boot.img flash twrp installer.zip and finally flash magisk.
I choosen the second way and it worked! Now I've OB_2, twrp, magisk and wifi connection.

Thx a lot for the links and Infos.
I have flashed it and it feels definitely smoother and I hope the random reboots are fixed.
From the changelog they should be.
Here is a small how to, how the upgrade from 10 to 10 ob2 went smooth. Also using this on every update.
1. Just use normal systen ota & let it install or Flash full OOS 10 zip via local update . (DO NOT REBOOT)
2a. Flash newest TWRP: fajita twrp 3.3.1-28.zip (or newer) by @mauronofrio via Magisk Manager (DO NOT REBOOT)
or 2b. go into magisk manager, search for a module called "twrp a/b retention script" Install it (DO NOT REBOOT)
3. Flash magisk to 2nd slot via MAgisk Manager (Magisk Manager → Tap on Install → Then select Install to Inactive Slot)
4. Reboot, wait and enjoy

Be very careful with the patched boot image. It hard-bricked my OP6T! Full details here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-6t/help/spent-6-hours-trying-to-rooted-android-t4012909

It looks like they took FactoryMode away using *#808# when using the dialer... anyone noticed?

Did they fix the extra blank space under navigation keyboard when type? Thanks

Anyone else having issues like the systems is getting slower animation is choppy and it just lag. I noticed it as well when playing games when that happens and it feels like i dont get as much framerates but a reboot of system fixed it for me. I thought by updating to ob2 it would fix this choppy feeling but its still there

I upgraded from OOS 10 Stable to OOS Beta 2 and all went on okay. No data lost.

Startup Hang after Installing Magisk v18.0

Hey, all!
Had a notification this morning for the new Magisk Manager (6.1) and Magisk (18.0) release. I downloaded both and rebooted the phone (OnePlus 2), updating from 17.3 to 18.0 directly, which had no errors during the install. Now upon startup it hangs on the splash screen. I can get into recovery (TWRP) and I have tried to flash the latest Magisk Uninstaller but I'm greeted with an ERROR 1: Error Installing zip file '/sdcard/...' - Unable to unpack boot.img
Any help here? Thanks in advance!

You can do dirty flash of your current ROM. That would simply replace the boot.img back to normal and then you can try flashing Magisk v18.0 again (if you want to)

Thanks for the response, just about to do a dirty flash of the stock ROM. My memory doesn't serve me well, is it best to wipe Cache as well as Dalvik Cache, or just Dalvik Cache?
The recovery also stays as is, right?
Hello,
The same for me from 17.3 to 18.
I'm on Nexus 6 with stock ROM.

Yep the recovery should stay as it is. I would recommend wiping both Dalvik Cache & Cache. Also, do keep fastboot handy. TWRP survival really depends on the device. For my device (OnePlus 3T), the OOS overrides TWRP if no root solution is used or patched boot.img isn't used.

Weird :/
Did you check the Magisk release thread for people facing similar issues? I'm still on v17.3.
I'm really reluctant to move to v18.0 after reading such things... Moreover, I always wait for feedbacks before trying out things that play with the boot.img's & stuff, because I already got /data partition of my last device corrupted [emoji52]

Alrighty! Just went ahead and did the flash and it successfully reboots! Tried to reboot into recovery to flash Magisk 17.3 and lo and behold TWRP is still there
Guess I'll wait until there has been an update or patch of some sorts if @StreamingMT is also getting this issue, maybe there are others too. Thanks for the help @DarkSJ1998
I will try to remember that @DarkSJ1998.
I was excited to have a new update, just got reckless...
Anyways, I replied to the official thread about the details, just search through it. I just restored my phone to the way it used to...
All my saves... Gone to trash.

I had the same bootloop issue when I was reinstalling H2OS beta 21 in my OnePlus 5 today. I got it to boot again with Magisk 18.0 after:
1. Dirty flashing ROM. Now this is important Did not flash Magisk (yet).
2. Rebooting to Bootloader (fastboot) in TWRP (since no root, now stock recovery will reinstall).
3. Fastboot flashed TWRP. Booted to Recovery mode from Fastboot menu.
4. Flashed Magisk 18.0 in TWRP. Now this is important Only flashed Magisk, nothing else.
5. Rebooted to Recovery again instead of System to flash other stuff.
6. Rebooted system.
If course YMMV. The important thing was to not try to flash Magisk while flashing ROM.
Same here on a mi max 2, updated manager and magisk directly from app, now stuck in bootloop. im downloading my rom as im typing to restore stock boot image. will flash v17.1 instead.
I have 1 plus 5 with official H2OS and Magisk 17.1.
Today when after installed Magick 18 and reboot, it stuck at startup.
I try to flash TWRP using adb, but it give me error:
E:\Program Files\Android\platform-tools>adb reboot bootloader
* daemon not running; starting now at tcp:5037
* daemon started successfully
error: device unauthorized.
This adb server's $ADB_VENDOR_KEYS is not set
Try 'adb kill-server' if that seems wrong.
Otherwise check for a confirmation dialog on your device.

Try 'Revoking USB Debugging' and restart the adb server. Then reinstate its authorization by plugging it back in with USB Debugging enabled. And just to check, make sure you run cmd as administrator, and ensure MTP is on.

Actually, Magisk does a backup of stock boot.img before patching it, which lies stored in /data as ".img.gz.zip". Haven't looked for how to restore it yet; however, assuming it's a flashable zip, it can be restored via TWRP. Should check Magisk release OP to be sure...

Doesn't look like a flashable zip too me. It stores a *.img file in it, which I think is flashable as an image from TWRP. But, I'm not 100% sure about it.

Hello, I do this with my Nexus 6, it's OK. Flash again Magisk (v17 not 18 for me) and all is OK for me.
Boot loop for me too after upgrading from v17 to v18 . I'm on Nexus 6. Any official information about this bug?
Fixed by installing TWRP then restored backup through TWRP and selected only boot image. I guess TWRP or me saved backup at some point, don't remember exactly. Will have to use v17 for now.

magisk doesn't apply when flashing

Hello guys,
I made an update in TWRP and installed Havoc 2.4 to try it. After 1 hour I restored my backup and changed back to MIUI. I couldn't log in, so I cleaned the keyfiles to set a new pin.
I reflashed new Beta (25.4 MIUI - Xiaomi.eu) ROM and Magisk but root does not apply on my device... What is wrong? Seems that it's not possible to root anymore... Its does not give me any fails when installing the magisk 18.1 zip in TWRP...
thanks in advance
Have you tried a simple reboot? Usually it takes a reboot more to apply.

Extract the boot.image from the rom and place it in your downloads folder.
Now with Magisk Manager , download and install Magisk to that boot image
Magisk will write root to the boot.image file and then will automatically flash the the updated boot image, and restart to system >>> Issue resolved.
I fixed it by wiping data... now its working

Nope, no issues on my Mi 8. Here is the trick. When updating do not flash Magisk until you out have booted into the system and ran updates and deleted cache and trash, then reboot to recovery and flash Magisk.
If the method that I described before in the previous post doesn't work, then unpack the boot image from the update and flash it to boot in recovery then flash Magisk Canary debug.
I have been doing this for every weekly update using the beta ROM.
I had an issue just once that was resolved by flashing SuperSu, booting to system confirming root, then reboot to recovery and removing Su, flashing the boot and Magisk Canary

I no longer use Viper because my phone has 1 speaker and for me Ainur Sauren works pretty well for all sounds.
For listening to music I have the Pro version of Power amp which has every wanted option such as dynamic compression, dynamic EQ, convolution reverb, limiting , tag editing, visualizations etc, I bought it 5 years ago for $3. Best 3 bucks that I ever spent!
Seriously, I can't recommend Poweramp highly enough, its worth its weight in gold.

As of OOS 9.5.10 you can boot twrp by fastboot, then sideload twrp into both slots and finally flash magisk which patches the boot.img itself. Thus no need for patched boot.img anymore.
Does this work for the global version??
Patched boot.img is a silly way of rooting... If someone uses the wrong boot.img for their version it will fail to boot. Plus, booting TWRP and flashing the magisk zip is faster and more reliable

Oh cool. So like "dirty flashing". Will magisk also get killed in the proccess? I'm not sure how A/B partitions work. Do you just install magisk from twrp or do you have to somehow install it on both partitions?

I seem to have lost my root after I did the update for 9.5.11 this morning
Here is what I did
I did as stated
Download update, Install, DO NOT REBOOT
Went to Magisk, unistalled all modules, then did OTA Install
Rebooted
Went to Magisk installed TWRP, but my phone froze at that point and the screen turned all white and just sat there
So I clicked on the power button and rebooted
Got back into my phone and checked to see if I was still rooted via root checker app and now it says I AM NOT ROOTED
What can I do to fix this I can launch Magisk, but now it says its is not installed on the screen, so I click install, download the ZIP option
It says Select Method, Download ZIP ONLY which I did or Select and Patch a File which I am not sure what file I need to use?
How can I get my root back on the phones
I am on NOW on 9.5.11 GM 1917
Thanks all

just flash boot twrp and flash magisk there..

Patched boot.img is a silly way of rooting... If someone uses the wrong boot.img for their version it will fail to boot. Plus, booting TWRP and flashing the magisk zip is faster and more reliable

If you don't need TWRP, first booting it and flashing the zip takes way longer than "fastboot flash boot boot.img".

How's the full zip upload coming along?
I thought I was clever and used the patched magisk image for 10.0.13 HD01BA on my firmware (updated OTA) version 10.0.13 HD01AA... all seems to be working fine barring one crucial function, that being wifi which is greyed out...
I'm assuming the broken wifi radio is symptomatic of the differing firmware versions?

I'm grabbing what I think is the HD01AA Full ZIP from Oxygen Updater, I'll grab the stock boot and try making a magisk patched img for you as well, If they work I might add HD01AA to my supported devices manifest.

That's very kind of you sir! I've flashed BA and WiFi is working now. I think my device, as are many others, are impartial to firmware version. BA/AA/global/European, seems to all be the same barring 1 or 2 minor differences. Using the right patched magisk boot image is critical though.
Having said that I'm yet to flash boot the patched image so let's see what effect it has on WiFi (it any)...
Once again thank you for providing these resources. [emoji1303]

Your feedback has been taken.
Original Post has been updated for OxygenOS 11 Open Beta.
OOS 10.0.13 is still in original post but moved to spoiler.
Thanks for the update. Will probably stay on 10.0.13 for now though, as it is super stable and practically bug free.
Hello,
I just want to confirm is it really that simple to get Magisk & Root Access just by flashing patched boot image? Won't I need to full system & data wipe? I have stock OOS 10.0.13.

I updated ota and install magisk unactive slot and the same boot to recovery and bootloop. Maybe problem is in magisk?
Flashing via OTA full ROM works great. After installation was completed I installed magisk to inactive slot and rebooted my device after this and my device is still rooted! Automatic brightness works much better with Beta 2

I use 21.4 (21400) and it works like a charm.

Don't install TWRP yet. The people who are infinitely smarter than I am will make a TWRP that will work for OB1, and that's way above my pay grade. I hope this helps someone.

it's not too bad...
Install the OTA
Go to magisk manager and pick install.
pick install to inactive slot (after OTA)
make sure you don't have any modules enabled that may be incompatible.
reboot
when the 11 TWRP drops, you can install it as a magisk module to gain custom recovery back
Just download magisk 21.4 zip and boot into twrp and flash it. No problems. Way easier. Here is the zip.

WOW YOU ARE SMART! Good looking out! This IS way easier. Thank you so much for the heads up!
wait, actually, do some research before you post. there's currently not a functioning TWRP for Android 11 and if you install the update, your TWRP will flash and freeze.

Okay I see. So I have TWRP LOL. I KNOW WHY to.
I have orangfox dual boot .zip from here. Also used TWRP to install the beta 1 on my phone which I run two OSs 96gb each and a extra 32 gb partition for genal stuff. So I flashed from Oxy 10.3.7 in TWRP, beta 1 it's. Than before booting I flashed Orangefox-dualboot-v11-7.zip. Wich installs TWRP and root automatically to both OSs. I recommend to TWRP 1st from 10 and after flashing the ota. Flash a TWRP zip file. Here's a boot.img from mine on the beta side. Be carefull it could have twrp preinstalled in it. I'm new lol but isn't twrp in the boot.img now a days. This one has it if it is. My boot.img it's also got magisk 21.4. totally blew by not having to worries about this thread. One other thing though. It's for a dual boot setup and encryption is off.

Ohh couldn't find Orangefox dual boot's post today so here is the twrp file. It's not really worked on right now and has option to flash magisk on R11 Pass but the copy of magisk is no good on the R11 OS but has magisk. 20.4 option for a Q10 is, when it IDs it. You'll see. The script options. PS orangfox dual booting with three different drives rocks. Also it has a app manager and a magisk mange GUI. Almost forgot beta 10 version 17-19 will not successful y flash this twrp. But any other copy for the phone on xda or OnePlus.com work fine. It's a encryption variety problem. If your password becomes corrupt (only on OS can have password type security on a dual boot setup... I got away with using the same password on both OSs for a minute though. ) in the root partition thiers a directory called Ffiles, with .zip you can flash while TWRped to fix a few things like that. Other than that let me know. Lol I want to mention Evey time you flash an OTA or anything that will alter the work this twrp installs, you need to flash the file afterwards, before rebooting. And reboot after flashing it so everything links up. Of coarse you can select to reboot right back to recovery. Best luck I couldn't find their post on xda so that's why I typed up so much. Lol I'll be funny again I don't know who this stuff on how to downgrade really but thiers a Windows tool that has capibillities err what ever to flash a OTA of 10 in fastboot mode. Anyways no worries. It's called all-in-one flash tool. Works on maney OnePlus phones. Maybe for encrypted data partitions. I run unencrypted stuff I do not like encryption on any electric devices.

I just want to say thank you. I tried the new magisk update and it didn't work. I could get to recovery and figured I had PB1 for Andoid11 anffd I would flash to gety baclk to working. Of course I lost root, but was able to get it back with magisk_patched_Ei056.img flashed to boot. It works fine. Can hang with root until TWRP gets updated.
VERY APPRECIATED.
Updated Twrp installer, and a link to both encrypted and unencrypted boot.img and vendor.img's. The Twrp was updated around the 29th. The .img files
I just made. Theirs also a system img if you want it All Beta 1 stuff. The new twrp can install magisk21.4 during the process. The boots I'm hoping can load your beta 1 and let you reboot into twrp right after. Gonna use my open drive and test. Later

You should rephrase your comment. TWRP 3.5.0_9.0 works absolutely fine on Android 11. You may have an issue with OOS11, but it is not an Android 11 issue.
