VoWiFi (Voice over Wifi) - Realme X2 Pro Questions & Answers

Does the Realme X2 Pro have VoWiFi (Voice over Wifi, so you can place and receive calls via Wifi). I send the same question to the Realme support department and got a negative answer.
but I stumbled on a post with the update notes on the Realme XT, which also uses Color OS that states "resolves a network connectivity problem that prevented the registration of a VoWiFi to a carrier".
So does this phone have VoWiFi, or is it just limited to the Realme XT?

I'd like to know this too, as my house is like living inside a faraday cage... My wife's A70 has wifi calling so hoping this phone does too...?

I don't find anything relating to VoLTE or VoWifi in the setting. Sorry.

I enabled airplane mode then enabled WiFi and can make calls no problems.... I also see the little WiFi call icon in the status bar.
EDIT:
I'm using the European X2 Pro.

Hi,
Just installed the A7 update and now I Can see the VOLTE logo next to 4G+.

That's good to know.. Thanks guys..

Thanks everybody for the feedback.

I just updated to the latest but no VoWiFi. can you advise how you got this to work?

I've literally done nothing as I can't find any settings regarding WiFi calling... I live in a small village with poor 3 SIM reception so when my reception goes low my phone automatically displays the WiFi call icon in the status bar... Best way to test it actually works is switch to airplane mode and enable WiFi then make a call it should work... I think this is also dependent on your network provider.

Doesn't work for me. Will call Vodafone and see why that is. Thanks mate.

I'm pretty sure which country and network you're on has something to do with WiFi calling being enabled.
I'm on both BT Mobile and 3 and they both support WiFi calling in the UK on monthly contracts. 3,however, also has wifi calling on my pay as you go sim/contract. Bt Mobile doesn't support that.
WiFi calling works on my other phones that support it...

Is that a different launcher than the ColorOS one? I can't get a folder into the bottom row.
Which one is it?

It's default color OS... You need to make the folder first then drag to the bottom row.

Thanks.
It seems the wifi calling option only appears if the carrier supports this.
In Germany TMobile doesn't offer wifi calling to prepaid customers nor resellers.

Not available here. My wifi calling is enabled by Vodafone but doesn't work here.

You have to click on Sim 1 to enter the menu where vowifi is located.

T-Mobile users on 5.1...

And your on LTE, what happens when you dial 611? It immediately hangs up every time. On both D and E.
works fine here, i call tmobile when i dial 611. im on rastapop, a 5.1 rom, but im using an older radio since i cant get phone calls while on lte with the newer radios.
Mines working fine..
Sent from my Nexus 6
Do they bump down to HSPA? Or stay on LTE like mine does? It only does it with Enhanced LTE on. Turned off it drops to HSPA and the call goes through. Any other call to any other phone, so far, works fine on LTE.

Weird. This is happening to me too on D.
Now I see what you guys are talking about 611 hanging up... Mines don't exactly hangup but it says Call Ended then switches to Dialing then the call goes through. Never actually hangs up..

With that older radio, do you still get VoLTE?
I'm on D, enhanced LTE on. 611 works. No double texts. This must be area / tower specific?
Anyone else notice LTE not staying selected when choosing network type?
If I choose LTE, the little green radio button shows as selected. All good. Back out to the main settings, then go back into cellular networks and see if it's still selected and nope! Radio button is blank again. Still says LTE, but the button is not selected.
If I go to select 3g or 2g options, button shows as selected, back out, then back in....radio button remains selected.
Does this for me on both of the new radios... 95R & 98R

[Q] flash LYZ28E on Verizon N6?

I am using Verizon N6 on Tmobile and was wondering if I can flash the TMo ( LYZ28E ) on my phone to get wifi calling on Tmo.
Can somebody please confirm?
Update: I was able to flash LYZ288 TMo build on my Verizon N6 using nexus tool kit without any errors.
I can see Wifi calling option in the settings options now and I need to figure out how to test wifi calling actually works on the phone. Any suggestions?
the WiFi calling will only work if your provider provides support for WiFi calling, and Verizon does not. only tmobile will provide support for WiFi calling, and the fi network.
Provider of the phone or provider of the Sim? I'm using T-Mobile sim

I'm on tmobile, but aren't using all that's required for WiFi calling, so haven't tried myself. I know a few were having issues with it, so its not just you. but eventually they got it working, so I think you will too.

If its saying wifi calling in your notification menu then it should be working. All nexus 6 no matter where you got it are the same. As long as your on T-Mobile then thats all that matters

Funny T-Mobile tech support won't even answer any of my questions because I brought the Nexus 6 over from Verizon. I can't get Wifi Calling working even though I am on the latest TMobile OTA. They claim they cannot provide support to devices not bought from T-Mobile. I'm currently stuck digging through XDA for a solution to my problem.

This has been discussed a little bit in the no LTE in the US with T-Mobile thread but I figured I would make its own thread for this issue and get everyone to speak up.. I have already tried to fix it with T-Mobile and that did not work.. I have already got crystal z attention and she has pmed me on the matter asking for a report and picture.. I feel a lil dumb on the matter and sent her a report(I hope I did it correctly) along with the screenshot (dated and the time it happened to go with the report).. anyone else pls reply if u have encountered the issue.. crystal is watching the forums and the more info she sees the more we can help her... I'm using ATT (have an older nano SIM from a Samsung Alpha so it's all setup right), and enabled WIFI calling in the SIM1 settings. I've tried calling when on WIFI and it seems fine. I'm not exactly sure what to expect from it. Would a good test be to be in a place that has no cellular service, but has a WIFI router , and then try to make a regular call? Is that the bottom line?
Thanks.
I have signal basically in one spot in my house.. anywhere else and my signal is dead... Turn on wifi calling. The vowifi display that replaces volte will flash on/off over a time period and then will pop up with the above message and will turn off wifi calling in the settings..

You have WiFi calling working on AT&T? I don't even see the option for WiFi Calling or VoLTE on my OP3T. The Enhance Settings are non-existent. When I search for WiFi in settings, I see WiFi Calling, and can turn it on, but it never stays on. When I go back into the setting it is off again. Anyone else on ATT get either of these options to work?

Wi-Fi Calling in India?

Jio and Airtel seems to be enabling Wi-Fi calling in India. On the list of supported handsets Android One handsets like Mi A1, A2 and A3 are missing.
Is this hardware issue (Xiaomi is just not having the right hardware)? Or a software issue (wi-fi calling not supported by Android One software)? Or it's just that Jio and Airtel has not started support for these devices.
WiFi calling is supported on the Mi A2. But even if those carriers don't support it on the Mi A2 (some carriers support features on a limited range of devices) you can probably still use it.
First you need to find which devices are supported. Then find a friend who has one of those devices, take out your sim, put it in his/her phone, and enable the service (usually through text?).
When you put the sim back to your Mi A2 the service will still be enabled. Dial *#*#869434#*#* on your dialer to disable wifi calling check, then open Phone, go to settings, Calling accounts, select your operator, and you should get a Wi-Fi Calling Option.

Hello, sorry for the late reply.
I'm not in India, I just followed the same instructions and it worked for me.
The only way to disable vowifi/wifi calling check is by dialing *#*#869434#*#*. You don't get another screen after doing this, just a quick notification in the bottom of the screen indicating that wifi calling check is disabled. You can miss it if you don't know where to look. Dialing the number again will enable the check. Dialing a third time will disable it again, and so on.
*#*#4636#*#* just gets you into the advanced phone options menu. Do this, dial *#*#4636#*#* and when the menu appears go to the top option, should be phone options. Then scroll down and look at the checkbox next to "wifi calling". It should be like my screen here:

Text is in Greek, sorry about that, but the option is the fourth from the top. It should be greyed out, but enabled (slider to the right).
If it's not like that, dial *#*#869434#*#* one more time and check again.
Update: I was able to enable VoWiFi using the *#*#869434#*#* code after the Android 10 update for Jio.
But when on VoWiFi call, my voice does not seem to reach the other end, so I have disabled it now.
Wish there was a way to fix it.

Well that sounds good, maybe something to do with enabling from Operators end.
Would recommend that you check after some days or a month or so to see if it is working better
BTW how did you enable WiFi calling, using the process suggested in the thread or it directly appeared after Android 10 update?

Using the process mentioned.
BTW I also think since my voice was not going, it might be because of the asymmetric Upload and Download speeds of most service providers.
Not sure if there is a minimum speed requirements over WiFi.

Facing the same issue. I don't think it has anything to do with asymmetric internet bandwidth. The issue is on the Jio side, which they need to fix. As I understand, Mi A2 WiFi calling works fine on Airtel network.

Yes, I heard the same thing and switched networks from Jio to Airtel. If a provider does not want to support my phone, I cannot support the provider. WiFi calling does work on Airtel, most of the times, sometimes it gets stuck (voice not clear even with perfect WiFi network), I simply reboot the phone and it works again.

Question 5G always on battery usage?

Hi everyone, was wondering if anyone know how much more Battery usage does having 5G toggle turned on uses compared to having 4g/3g only.
The reason im asking is that VoLTE doesn't seem to turn on when I don't have 5G turned on. I dont turn on 5G because there's no 5G in my city.
Please help

Lots more for me using it on TMobile USA.
Yes, 5G does drain a lot more battery. VoLTE would work even if the device is on 4G/3G option but honestly there isn't much of a call quality difference with or without VoLTE. What really makes the difference in the call quality is wifi calling...turn that on and you will notice a marked difference in the sound quality at both ends of the call.
5G is not practical unless there's great coverage. I live in a very well covered 5G area but unless you are constantly browsing/ on youtube, the phone doesn't bother using the 5G band. So, let's say the phone's screen is switched off..you will still get your messages but on 4g band. I think it's something to do with the kernel that puts the phone on 4g when the screen's off...probably to save battery. The moment you switch on the screen, you'll see the network change to 5G...
I don't use the 5G unless I really need to say like downloading a huge update when the wifi is clogged...
TLR: There's no point in activating 5G unless there's a real need for speed and that you're in a good 5G coverage area.
Unfortunately, mobile data does not work automatically if the 5g toggle is off. I have to manually put the phone on airplane mode or restart it for it to work. Such a big hassle.

Someone did report that issue with the last firmware update and apparently, the latest update has fixed it. You could try a Bixby routine to turn mobile data on when wifi is off as a temp solution

I know exactly what you mean. You'd expect that it would connect to VoLTE but it doesn't. The only time it would connect is when I got the 5G toggle on.
I have tried it with multiple sim cards/networks and it only does it with my current provider - Vodafone. It is bizarre, i know but i can prove it with screenshots
