Screen Protectors - Huawei Mate 30 Pro Accessories

Is anyone using any kind of screen protector that can recommend? I'm looking for a glass screen protector.
Maybe we can share our experiences here, so we can find those that work better for our phones.

I was sold a glass screen protector when I bought my Mate 30 Pro 5G/512GB (from a Huawei store in Beijing), and it was a 3rd party one (ie not Huawei branded) specifically for the Mate 30 and wrapped all the way around the edge. It has a wide 'notch' on the top in the same shape/size as the notch on the screen. As you might expect, it stands up slightly from the screen, but I quite like that because it makes it easier to grip.
That screen protector already did its job - my phone fell off my phone stand that I put my phone on when I am working, and it cracked very slightly on the edge. The crack grew over a few days and eventually became very noticeable, so I replaced the screen protector.
I bought the replacement online (well, my wife did)- I think from Jd or some other Chinese online store. It was also specifically for the Mate 30 Pro and wraps all the way around. However, it is slightly different in that the notch doesn't match the notch on the screen - it covers all but one of the sensors/lenses in the screen's notch, and so it looks more like a single 'tear drop' notch in shape. This made me think this screen wasn't designed for the Mate 30 Pro, but the seller assured us it is only for the Mate 30 Pro, and, indeed, when we fitted it, it does fit and work perfectly. Also, there are two in the box, for when you break it again - mine first one is already 'scuffed' on the side
I don't have the box for the first one I had which I bought from the Huawei store, but I have the box for the second one. Photos below, in case it helps anyone find one online.
The one I bought at the Huawei store was 199RMB, while the replacement(s) were 70RMB for two. I suppose the Huawei one might be better somehow, but I can't tell, so don't buy from a Huawei store
I see there are many available on Amazon, some even cheaper than in China:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=huawei...reen+protector&i=electronics&ref=nb_sb_noss_1
I should also mention that I have the screen protector fitted in addition to the phone protector that comes with the phone, and the fit well together.

I don't think glass screen protectors would fit well on the curved screen phones and Mate 30 Pro has the most curved display. Instead of glass you can go with normal screen protectors they fit precisely for my S10 I have been using the gadgetshieldz clear protector which even works with in display fingerprint sensor. Here is a link if you into normal screen protectors https://www.gadgetshieldz.com/huawei-mate-30-pro-screen-protector.html

IMO, they do fit very nicely on the curved screen.

I have found my second screen protector has developed a crack, again on the top right. I guess it's small enough to last a while yet, before it needs to be replaced, but it is clear to me these things are 'consumable'. In this case I don't remember what event might have caused it.
I wonder if the extra curve around the edge causes the protector to be especially vulnerable, compared to other screens. It's the first one I have had.
One other thing, iinm this phone uses a 'speaker' built into the display - so the screen essentially vibrates. I wonder if it is only used when making a phone call, but the screen protector surely obscures the sound from this 'speaker'. I can't say I've noticed any problem, but I don't receive a lot of calls, and tend to use the speaker phone so I don't have to put it up to my ear.
What do you think?

It's best to prevent the screen from breaking.

I have been using Protectionfilms24.com for many years for my screen protectors. Great service and fast delivery, free in Europe. This is the Mate 30 Pro protectors I have as well as a camera lens protector.

Wet apply ones work great

TBH I will probably go with OnePlus 8 Pro(when it comes out) or with the Oppo Find X2 Pro. It seems that too many apps(not even related to google) require Google services and I am not comfortable with the current workarounds.

I bought this, and it fits perfectly! Never seen a better Screenprotector.

Hi there, yes, the screen protector protected the screen. It didn't fall, but I accidentally banged it against the side of the bath. The corner of the screen protector shattered and stayed in place, absolutely no damage to the screen. I have since ordered a second set as when I was replacing the first breakage, my second screen protector fell on the ground and cracked. I got the second set and it is protecting my phone the very best. i have the original Huawei cover for my Mate 30 and it fits perfectly with the screen protector. I highly recommend this brand.

I normally look at amazon reviews. I am currently using a Casebase LG G3 glass screen protector, looking at amazon reviews in .DE and also .CO.UK this has the highest reviews as well
I am going to email Casebase now and ask them if they are making these for the upcoming LGG4 and if yes i will stick with them. You get 2 glass screen protectors in the pack and one of them is a spare
Hi, i would like to pre-order one, to receive it before the g4. Which one is the best for you?
Envoyé de mon LG-D855 en utilisant Tapatalk
In regards to which protector would be best; I am not at liberty to make any judgement since I don't yet have the phone nor screen protectors. However, I would agree with the above poster that waiting for amazon reviews to come out is certainly in your best interest. Allow the other people to identify which products do and do not work. You'll save yourself time and money that way.

Sup!
I've got a LG G3 and I ordered a screen protector from Amazon a while ago and it's a really great fit from a company called Casebase! I'm going to probably order another one for my G4. But as the previous comments have suggested you could wait for reviews and such, or you could use your previous experiences to make a purchase before hand, that's what I'm doing!
Hope this helps
Hi Guys here is the reply i got from casebase.com. I have just ordered one from amazon as well.
Hi Jack,
Glad you are very happy with the glass screen protector for the LG G3. I can confirm we have launched the glass screen protector for the LGG4. It is already being sold on amazon and it is a twin pack just like the LGG3 version. Please look out for a video going up on youtube on 14th of May showing our protector on the real device. I can confirm there are no bubbles and it covers the phone edge to edge. I suspect many other brands will not have this covering the phone edge to edge but we have used a 0.18mm korean glass for this model which does the job perfectly fine.
We hope your very happy with your purchase
Kind regards, Casebase
Think about Zagg.
I had it with G3 and I has used it for 8 months until it got damaged.
The easy clean layer never faded.

I'm a little hesitant with zagg-- after reading some of the people on other xda forums that have issues with them, and zero customer support, I would consider an enjoyable experience to be a lucky one as well. I've personally never had them because of the high price tag, but I've heard now several stories of how the quality has gone down the tubes in recent time. Again, this could be speculation, or what have you, but from what I've seen, the company is not what it used to be.

I managed to order the phone on saturday and also the casebase twin pack glass screen on saturday from amazon.de (they are showing in stock for the phone today as well which is way before release date) My tracking shows it should be here tomorrow. I will give you my honest opinion of the casebase glass screen protector when i have installed it
Regarding Zagg, they lost the screen protector game ages ago. They are just over priced and a known high street retail ripp of brand.
Companies like casebase, Spigen, Orzly, Luvitt all make good glass screen protectors at a third of the price online.

What's to say that if there was no screen protector that the screen wouldn't have been fine? I haven't used a screen protector since the G1 and never had a screen shatter of crack yet. Even with various drops. Although I could just be lucky. Or it could be a false sense of security the protectors provide?

HI - In my opinion its not a case of false sense of security. Each time i have dropped my phone hard enough and the glass screen has broken im sure if it wasn't for this glass screen protection then the phone screen would of broke. It would of at least chipped it a little bit. Either way for me its not worth the risk. I change my phones once a year and buy them simm free so its not a risk worth taking

My LG G4 and casebase glass screen arrived yesterday. I can confirm the casebase Lg g4 glass screen is a perfect fit and covers all the corners as well. I will upload some pictures and maybe a short video over the weekend
The case i am using is a Orzly Lg g4 fusion case, it offers very solid protection around the sides but also shows of the back of the phone as the case is transparent on the back. All in all my phone looks gorgeous :good::good::good:
So this will be my first phone with a curved screen. I'm assuming that the screen protector will also be curved?

Moto Z2 Force Glass Screen Protector MegaThread!!

Hi everyone!
I"m very excited for Aug 10th to get this phone... and even though it's shatterproof, I've heard from a few people on YouTube that the phone is NOT scratchproof :/ So we are still going to have to search for the Best Screen Protector.
As new ones come out and are verified, I will update this post! Good luck with the search everyone. My first one that I'm going to try is Probably the Mr Shield or an OMOTON one. I don't see amFilm yet, but it's early still.
Cheers!
Stu
I had the Z force. The screen came pre-installed with a plastic protector which scratches instantly. I never removed mine, just placed a glass one over it. When I did that the screen became super reflective because there were too many layers of stuff (it was annoying). This time I will remove the plastic screen protective the moment the glass one arrives. From the old phone they say that the Verizon glass protectors were the best, I think they are listed as flexible glass. Others have said they used different brands that have worked well too, so we will just have to try and see. One things for sure, it will need a glass protector right out of the box unless you like scratches.

You haven't burst my bubble, this is good news. It's one less step I have to take now to get my glass protector on. I would suggest everyone get the absolute thinnest glass screen protector you can find to keep the light touches responsive and screen glare to a minimum.
While Amazon is amazing, it can be incredibly frustrating trying to sift through the hundreds of cheap Chinese junk products to find the quality ones. You can't always go by reviews either. I like to look for bigg-ish name brands and read their product page thoroughly. I decided to go with this protector: https://www.amazon.com/Protector-Skinomi-Hardness-Ballistic-Tempered/dp/B071G6ZV7J/ It's made by Skinomi which makes high quality products. They also listed the glass to be .33mm thick which is the thinnest I could find. I checked the Verizon website and they had two options, one not listing the thickness and the other being .4.
Also the Skinomi one mentions something about clarity and I suspect that the cheaper protectors are the ones with a lot of reflection to them. Not sure on that. I will come back and give my review of the Skinomi glass protector when I get it on the phone.
I bought this same brand last year for my Moto Z and it has been great. So I ordered the Moto Z2 force version. Hopefully quality will be as good:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072M7WH6N/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I got my phone today and put on the Skinomi protector within 5 seconds. No bubbles, easy install, no extra glare, and I can give the screen the absolute lightest touch and it responds. I'm talking I can barely feel the touch on the tip of my finger and it works. That .33mm thickness works well.

The Verizon one is great! No complaints so far.
Yeahhhh....IQshield one not so good. Doesn't apply correctly to the screen. Used all 3 and every single one has a nice bubble in the lower right of the device next to the home button. Glass feels good, but either my device has a nice bend in the lower right or the glass just isn't flat. Other interesting thing....3 pack of protectors, yet only ONE set of installation stuff (prep pad/dust remover sticker).....weird. I'd just recommend staying far away from this one. Has good reviews, but I don't get how. And I'm not a rookie when it comes to screen protectors, so I know I'm putting this thing on right...

It's not bubbles, though. The entire lower right to the right of the fingerprint sensor doesn't adhere to screen. So either my device came bent or the batch of protectors I got are slightly warped in that lower right.

I also had an issue with a persistent gap, using this screen protector, in the upper left and right corners (left of the FFC and right of the flash). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072Q55HFY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I ordered a different brand, but intended to just leave this one on until it arrived. After about 36 hours and heating up and cooling down a few times, the gaps had disappeared. My theory is that the phone's screen is just not as flat as a traditional glass panel, so you do not have two perfectly flat mating surfaces when using a tempered glass screen protector. It seems the screen is soft enough to eventually form to the screen protector, as i'm sure the screen protector is a more stable material than the screen.

How is it. I got this one to try from skinomi
https://www.amazon.com/Protector-Sk...084&sr=8-5&keywords=z2+force+screen+protector
I didn't like how it set on the phone, couldn't get it to adhere everywhere. Currently I got a z play screen protector on my device. It cover the fingerprint partially, but seems to be better then the skinomi.
https://www.amazon.com/protector-Co...1279&sr=1-32&keywords=z+play+screen+protector
I'm not sure because of the black bottom and top and the screen protector makes it so I can't see any non adhesiveness.

Okay guys that might sound silly but when I pay double the price of regular screen protector I want at least same performance. My screen protector cracked on it's own. Less then a month of careful use and that's what happened.
I'm waiting for a replacement, but curious if anyone had the same issue.

It sits lower than the temper glass and it allows me to lay the phone on its screen, with a case of course.
I'm pretty sure 3rd party vendors are getting on board in selling cheaper temper glass solutions that the Razer brand one

Sure, but when you pay premium price you expect premium quality ?
That's indeed disappointing and kind of wished I did research before ordering now. The packaging mentions that a case is recommended in addition to the protector because the "edges are fragile". I feel like they wouldn't mention it if it's not a known problem. I have a case so maybe I'll fair better but why make a fragile screen protector in the first place? What's the point? At least it seems good optically.

I ordered one weeks ago, it still hasn't made it to north america yet. so slow. But I'll let you know how it is once it gets here.
I bought the 2 pack of Orzero for ASUS ROG Phone ZS600KL Tempered Glass Screen Protector, 2.5D Arc Edges 9 Hardness HD. Got it in a few days, but it doesn't cover the screen 100%. A few millimeters short on each side. There isn't an official one out there yet, correct?

Correct, there is no official one. At least at the moment. I ordered this one https://www.amazon.ca/Tempered-Prot...id=1545150596&sr=8-18&keywords=rog+phone+case
Is that the same one as yours? Besides being a few mm short, how is it?

It's not bad. I didn't have a screen protector on my previous phone so I'm sure what to look for. I've only used one of the two provided. Was easy to apply. But after a couple of weeks, I can see some air bubbles forming on the side.
Should've mentioned, it was from Amazon. This is the one I have: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J2XN9TN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_G8pgCbTFA4Z96

thanks for the reply. :good:
hmm getting some mixed reviews on amazon...
I used to use a film on my htc desire z, but it peeled off after a couple of months. I too had air bubbles get in, and then eventually dust and dirt, and then it lost its adhesion and became opaque. Kept it on for quite a while afterward haha.
as for this phone, it looks like the one I ordered is a little larger. I hope its equally easy to apply. I'll let you know how mine is whenever the hell it shows up. ugh.
I ordered two of these:
https://shop.brando.com/brando-work...tor-asus-rog-phone-black_p19902c2453d008.html
... and they arrived the day after I dropped my phone and broke the screen.. which was a bit unlucky but later that same day my girlfriend dropped hers and it definitely saved her phone from the same fate as mine - so I guess we can consider ourself semi-lucky at least =)
However, This is a very slippery phone =)
I got mine today finally, and put it on. its not edge to edge, but pretty close. about 1mm top and bottom, and .5mm on the sides I'd guess. flexible, completely transparent, and can be reapplied, as I inevitably found out. its looks good, feels fine, and hides most of my micro scratches. Plus it also has:
- Adhesive the whole screen, no rainbown moire
- Protector your Asus Rog Phone's screen from scratch or crash
It was hard to get it on without any dust between them, but I did it. in another universe because I have two tiny pieces in the dead center, one is rainbowy, and the other is dark. I need a room with cleaner air. every time I wipe the screen, more dust falls on it. I'll live with it for now but at least I can reapply it later if I want.
I feel a bit safer now, though I would still like a more rugged leather case.
if you have any more questions let me know :good:
EDIT: I broke it trying to clean off the dust... I'll have to be a little more careful next time. I've left it on for now, and ordered 2 new ones. I liked the way this one has its own bezel which hides everything under them, but I also need one fast so I also ordered the only one I could find on Amazon Prime. Plus one of them is explosion-proof!

Mine seems close enough...=), $19 for it

Where did you get it from? Amazon?
Hi guys. I need a heavy duty glass protector for my Rog Phone. I bought this one on Amazon about 6 months ago and has been a good one, but adter playing a lot, it has become ruggish and my fingers are no longer gliding on the screen.
This is the one I bought : Supershieldz for Asus Rog Phone Tempered Glass Screen Protector, Anti Scratch, Bubble Free
Is this like a normal wear or is there any option that can endure heavy use?

Good screen protector with fast shipping

Hi guys. As the factory screen protector is garbage I am looking for options. Some I found on amazon.de, however it seems like they should be compatible with Mi10/Mi10 Pro and Mi10 Ultra, didn't know they all have the same screen dimensions and curvature. I would be keen to get a hydrogel type of coating, preferably for front and back, but I realize it may be challenging to find. I wil appreciate if somebody can recommend anything.
I asked liaow who don't stock them. Other Mi phones have the same screen dimensions though..
So I just bought the ones for the mi 10 / pro, they fit perfectly

Is it a glass one or flexible? I don't care for flexible screen protectors at all because they don't protect from screen shatters as much. And just because a flexible one fits doesn't mean a tempered glass one designed for a slightly different phone would.
Obviously you've not seen the other thread on this but I swapped mine for a hydrogel one a couple of weeks ago. Got mine from AliExpress for 10 ultra, fit superb and of course with hydrogel, you can remove and put back on, any bubbles go after a couple of days if you do get any when fitting and the best thing, they are really good at self healing. Took 10 days to arrive but well worth the wait.

Any link to the hydrogel?
https://www.google.com/amp/s/h5.aliexpress.com/item/4001359436459.html
But there loads out now on Wish or Ali. Should be at other vendors very soon as the grows in popularity. Obviously more on these sites due to its Chinese only release
I've ordered a screen protector from amazon UK.
It says it works on the Ultra, the Pro and the plain Mi 10
I'll report back if it works I think you can use any Mi 10 range protector. (for what it's worth gsmarena comparison backs this up)
Well it sucks. Did not reach all around the screen. It also didn't seem tall enough. Be wary of buying a Mi Pro protector

ah well, that sucks. I remember my Note 8 and 9 tempered glass protectors never worked with cases, so i went for the gel screen protectors which worked with any case.
after 6 months i went to tempered glass and bare back with a grippy sticker.
i think this phone might be the same, leaving the original protector on and using the 6 cases i have, then no case with tempered screen protector
you can buy uv screen protector on taobao.com or aliexpress.com
The original factory screen protector is indeed not the best. It's a dust magnet for some reason, and scratches easily. I took it off and replaced it with a tempered glass one made for the 10 pro. Fits like a glove.

K gonna try a 10 Pro glass protector. Not really out at all these days so no real need.
I bought two glass screen protectors from Aliexpress that you cure with the UV liquid/light. It's the perfect size and leaves very small gaps at the top and bottom of the display.

link, please?
I've ordered one of these from Amazon UK
Quite happy to use hydrogel, the only dislike on this one is the cut-out for camera... previous one for Find X2 Pro didn't have that which made for a cleaner finish.
Follow-up: Horrendous bit of kit, don't get this one! The USB plug moves around and the poles to line up the protector don't line up the punch hole correctly. All sorts of other problems, but those are the main two.
Where did u order it? Could u please leave a link?
Just got this IMAK hydrogel protection. Applied it a couple of hours ago. It has cutout for front camera. It is easy to align and apply, and fits very well to the edges of the screen. It covers curbed part of the screen as well. Just watching how quick remaining bubbles are going away. Amazing. I hope that the edges of case would not touch the edges of protection. Have to wait a little bit more in order to check this.
