Dual SIM PLUS micro-SD - ZTE Axon 10 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

I followed this procedure for adding a 2nd SIM card WITH a micro-SD memory expansion in place:
Link to : (triple-w dot).mobilefun.co.uk/blog/2016/03/how-to-enjoy-dual-sim-and-micro-sd-simultaneously-on-the-galaxy-s7
Link to: (triple-w dot).noreplied.com/how-to-insert-2-nano-sim-dual-sim-enabled-and-microsd-card-in-samsung-galaxy-s7-edge
I was successful with the Axon 10 Pro as well.
The only thing I did differently from the procedures linked above...
1.) Instead of CUTTING the SIM, I filed the edge down with a nail file to reduce the width (it didn't need much)
2.) I only needed to file ONE side (not both)
3.) I also filed the "lip" of the micro-SD card, to reduce the overall thickness of the combination *
("lip" = the edge farthest from the contacts, to facilitate removal with your fingernail, from a full-size SD adapter)
4.) I used Scotch double-sided cellophane tape, trimmed to the dimensions of the modified/hacked SIM card
Prior to starting, taped the full SIM2 in place and took a picture of the contacts, to help position the modified SIM properly,
when taping to the micro-SD, and to insure the orientation was right (and NOT 180 degrees off)

* The SIM/uSD "tray" went back into the phone with a BIT of added persuasion, and came back out again the same, without any damage.
(If you dare, you might try filing some more of the micro-SD housing prior to taping down the SIM)
The micro-SD and SIM combination also fit into a full-size SD adapter so I was able to read/write the memory card with my computer without having to disassemble the SIM from it.
Very pleased with the results - but of course, YMMV, and try this at your own risk.

"internal storage is 75% full"

My phone gives me the "internal storage is 75% full" from time to time.
Recently, I recorded something on my phone, and the message popped up. So, I clicked it and selected to transfer all photos and videos (which were taking up most of the space apparently) to my micro SD card.
I have a 32 gig micro sd card for my Z1. At the time...there was less than 10 gigs used up. SO, PLENTY of extra space.
When I transferred the content to my SD card, suddenly, I couldn't find some precious pictures/videos in my GALLERY.
. I have used ROOT MANAGER (I have a rooted phone), to copy my DCIM folder from my phone internal storage, and copied EVERYTHING to my micro SD card (which means ALL photos/videos), and chosen to "skip" any duplicates. I did this in hopes the video file I am desperately looking for might have now found its way to my micro SD card.
. I have physically removed the micro SD card and placed it in an SD card reader/adapter, and put that in my computer to try and find the .MOV video file. But, that has also been unsuccessful.
. I tried using EASE USdata recovery wizard (computer program) in an attempt to find and recover the possibly lost video file, but it has proven unsuccessful.
Does anyone have any feedback on anything I may have missed? Is there a directory I'm missing as to where this video file may be?
Thanks in advance for your help!
. Nina

USB OTG with multi-card reader

I thought this was pretty cool. I wanted to view some pics from my DSLR the other day and upload them to Google Photos, so I put the card into my card reader and plugged it into my 5X. The reader also had a micro SD card in another slot, and to my surprise, the phone mounted both cards and I was able to view pics on both of them. This may be more to do with Android 6, but I don't have any other phones I can test it on.

You can also use the otg to directly connect to the camera. It will give you the option of looking at them or batch importing them.
5.0 did this as well.
I know, but direct card access is faster for me, as my camera's USB interface is not very fast. The main point of my post though is I thought it was cool I could access both cards at the same time.
That makes sense, I use the same model card reader. Just thought I'd mention that too in case you/someone else didn't realize it.

Nexus 6 after installing new digitizer

I have recently installed a new lcd screen and digitizer on my N6.
Yes. the phone operated just fine for about 2 years before I needed to do the maintenance...
It reboots and operates just fine on WIFI.
When I reboot with a valid SIM, I instantly get connected and registered on the network, and it functions correctly for about 30 seconds.. then drops out/off the network.
When I am rather near a tower it functions correctly too.
So, I am wondering if I somehow bent, or am causing the antennas to not reconnect to the main board fully... I have been looking around for where the GSM antenna(s) are. Google searches and forum searches simply reveal the NFC and quick charging loop under the cover.
Does anyone have an image of the mainboard and it's connectors to the antennas? I have found images of the main components on the board, but none of the GSM part.
Any help in locating/trouble shooting this one would be greatly appreciated.
TIA

Thank you for replying....
Oh, btw mine is the XT1103 model.
I followed both of those links prior to posting this.
Yes, the teardown at ifixit was the one I followed. It had a mere mention of the antenna.
The antenna reference diagram doesn't seem to match. I guess it might when the item is inverted.
Here is what I am seeing. Could the wwan antenna actually be the one on the top?
(looking from front)(top is to the left to save space)

Recommended cases thst are compatible with sim extenders?

Anyone know of any case that can hide a sim extender used with the phone?
Are just the two SIM slots not enough? ?
If have thought the ribbon from one of these would fit inside the standard issue case - is it more bulky? If so I'm sure you could carve a channel out of it (or maybe you'd want to get a slightly bigger rubber case and set about it with a craft knife)

The extender is so that I can use a microSD card while using the SIM2 slot.

It's not the ribbon that bulges, it's the receptacle for the second SIM. It "fits", but there is a noticeable bulge. Also, I'm not that handy with a knife, sadly. :crying:
