Per title, Nexus 6 will not get past the white "Google". I can get into recovery fine. But the bootloader is locked, so I cannot properly flash stuff. Attempting to unlock the bootloader, I'm told I need to enable the option in the settings menu that I cannot access.
Looks like I'm not the only one I have the same issue and nothing works

is this happened after trying to install update with adb sideload?
I got my nexus 6 today and tried to sideload the ota zip file, but I had no luck and now my nexus can not boot. I had enabled the option for bootloader unlock but my big mistake was that i tried to factory reset the device from recovery and now the bootloader can't be unlocked.
supposed to be experience with nexus devices, but with the bootloader locked I don't know what to do.
any ideas guys?

Yeah I think that's what I may have done too. I was just trying to go back to 100% stock (ignoring 5.1 even).
And of course NOW the 5.1 image is up on Google's page.
Have the same situation: flash 5.1 OTA and then wiped system
Now I can't unlock bootloader (as system just cant boot) and can't flash stock image (as system.img can't be flashed with locked bootloader)
I do not want to believe this is a brick, but it is very likely it
Sadly I've just done the same thing. ADB updated from 5.0.1 to 5.1, and the system.img didn't copy correctly. Phone wont boot past the Google splash screen, and I can't flash a factory image to recover the phone, because in order to unlock the bootloader I have to enable the option in developer settings, which I can't get to because the phone wont boot!
I understand the purpose of having an extra layer of security to prevent malicious types from trying to flash factory images onto stolen devices, but surely any system that allows a user to brick a device simply by leaving a setting unchecked (in a hidden menu, no less!) is asking for trouble? Particularly on a developer orientated device like a Nexus.
It seems crazy that a developer can ADB the official Google Android OTA zip, using the official Google Android SDK, onto the official Google Android flagship device, and the simple corruption of one of the sent files can cause the device to become totally unusable. Surely, say, providing an option in the developer option settings to PIN protect the bootloader, rather than just preventing it from being unlocked all together, would be a more sensible choice?
For what it's worth, I explained my situation to Google, and they are replacing the phone under warranty. This is probably your best (or only) option at this stage.

Depends on the model you have specifically, certain ones cant be unlocked such as amazon version. But the steps are the same as all other android phone bootloader unlocks, Steps can be found on motorola website:

The basics consist of:
enable developer mode
enable "OEM Unlock" in developer settings
fastboot into phones bootloader and run OEM unlock commands
copy unlock code from phone that you get using oem unlocking commands into motorola website
receive email from motorola with unlock "password"
enter password into adb terminal
phone will be wiped and bootloader unlocked
Thats what i thought, i went there just to see , looks the same as for my G5S+ , ill likely do this. Is there guide somewhere on instally magisk as im outdated ( an old chainfire guy) just need some hints , doesnt look like twrp works , what about clockwork mod? Thats fine as well, , any good roms? Think 9 is comming?
Magisk root is straight forward. You can either get a working boot.img for your device from a firmware package and patch/flash it yourself. Or boot NOT flash the twrp images from the twrp website and install the magisk zip that way. The twrp for this device hasn't been compiled for flashing. It boots but flashing it to your device will boot loop it. No custom ROMs that I know of but I'm just using stock with magisk and it's fine once you have root to delete the bloat ware apps and install tweaks from magisk.

I live in the U.S and am planning to get the international version of the phone (Mi 9T Pro) from this link: https://www.amazon.com/Xiaomi-Display-Snapdragon-Factory-Unlocked/dp/B07X55XTBP and run Ting (Operates on T-Mobile, so primarily band #4). However, I haven't rooted a phone since a Galaxy S3 in 2015 and am currently running a Moto G5 Plus: So this is a massive change and I have a bunch of questions.
To begin with, my goals:
1. I want to root the phone, primarily, but still maintain fingerprint sensor to unlock phone
2. Using that, I want to install a Google Camera 7 port (with astrophotography).
3. I'd like to keep MIUI, ideally with OTA updates (not sure if this is possible with a rooted phone?).
4. If there's any way to make cell service better (unlock bands that are locked, like band 12?), I'd like to do that as well.
5. Google Photos automatic backup is also a necessity.
Are there any other improvements that you all would recommend? I've taken a look the threads here and will be doing the following:
- Create a Xiaomi account in order to unlock the phone bootloader
- Boot into bootloader (is there a setting that I need to go to before the next step?)
- Using TWRP .img from here https://forum.xda-developers.com/k20-pro/development/recovery-unofficial-twrp-xiaomi-redmi-t3944363, run 'fastboot flash recovery twrp.img'
Now what? The phone is.... rooted? How does one install xpozed and magisk?

Unlocking bootloader and rooting does not break fingerprint. Unlocking extra bands is IMPOSSIBLE.
Regarding how to root, after 1 week wait of unlocking bootloader, you will have to flash push TWRP and then flash a magisk file. There's a thread for it.

Download from Firmware Finder and install by DLOAD FullOTA-MF-PV (PV is important) EVA-L19c185b385, as on the screenshot
Or, follow the guide to rebrand to c432 and upgrade to Noogat (unlocked Bootloader is required):

I have successfully upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat by the help of firmware finder app .
My current Build is EVA-L19C185B403.
Is there anyway to upgrade to Oreo without unlocking Bootloader? I don’t have a card to buy code from DCunlock.

First, keep your code (on several places, even printed on the paper), it is good for relocking/unlocking (you never know, some actions may lock the Bootloader back) for the lifetime of your phone.
You don't want to go buying the same thing again
Assuming you know how to enable OEM Unlock in Developer's menu and you are a little familiar with Fastboot, it is simple to unlock the Bootloader
Code:
fastboot oem unlock <your code>
If not familiar, and if not clear as below, search on Google how to:
- enable Developer menu by clicking 7 times to the build number in Settings/About
- enable OEM unlock in Developer menu
- install "Minimal ADB and Fastboot" to Windoze (smallest, self containing package with everything for ADB and Fastboot)
- reboot to Fastboot: keep pressing Vol-, then Pow button

If you don't mind, you can skip (you can disable OTA - see in OP)

Patch02 will not affect Network Patch or Face Unlock (cool add-on, see OP)

I have already applied Network Patch, See my both SIM is working.
Right now I don’t need Root so I'm skipping Magisk.
I just want to disappear the update available Notification, if the update is Safe I'll go for it.

Nope, VoLTE does not work.
Everything else, like location sharing and Ok Google are fixed with Network patch, but not VoLTE.
The guy who did the whole majestic work went tired (although he believed he was close to fix VoLTE) and gave up. Later he upgraded to newer Huawei devices with Pie, etc, and eventually moved away from XDA

It's not possible to remove the warning on booting "Your device has been unlocked and can't be trusted" (IMO, it must have been commented somewhere in the OP) - that's price for the unlocked Bootloader.
But you must not relock Bootloader - it would trigger Hard reset, removing Network patch (even worse, it could also cause soft brick if TWRP or Magisk are installed)

Eager to try out Android 11, I sideloaded the ota zip of the latest Developer preview on my Pixel 4 XL. I have the Verizon version, so my bootloader is locked and I was unable to get it to unlock. So, I figured the ADB sideload method would be perfect.
Everything went smoothly until after the OTA was installed:
I just get a screen that says "Can't find a valid operating system. Device will not start." -- this screen appears for recovery and rescue mode.
The only thing I do have access to is Fastboot. Device appears when I type in "Fastboot devices", but I'm guessing that it doesn't matter since my bootloader is locked and I can't flash anything?
Google support was no help and just send me the address of a repair shop.
Does anyone know if I'm totally F'd in this situation?

Can you change slots? fastboot --set-active=a
It tells you what slot you are on in the bootloader screen. It won't hurt anything. You can always change it back. It's the only thing I know to try.
You can get a stock image and flash it from the stock recovery; dont recall how that procedure is done but there is a guide floating around here as it comes up every once in a while. Usually a Verizon owner...
Are you able to unlock the bootloader (activated before sideload)? So flash unlock and then the factory Image. If you can't unlock your bootloader you are stuck and best option is to open a warranty case by Google...
