Battery percentage next to the battery logo - Moto G7 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi all,
Just got my Moto G7 +. Love it and planning to keep it stock.
One thing really annoys me though, it's the battery percentage inside the battery logo itself. It's just so small, can't even read it sometimes.
Now i found out that when you go to developers options you can disable the screen left and right to the notch. After a reboot the battery percentage will be next to the battery. Then, when you enable the screen left and right to the notch the percentage stays next to the battery logo. Perfect! But, after a reboot the percentage will be inside the battery logo again...
Now it seems to me that this is a setting which could be toggled without root.
Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

I've looked and can't find anything easy. No idea how anyone is supposed to read the percentage inside the battery symbol.
The easiest alternative would probably be an app like BatteryBot Battery Indicator.
From what you've found with the Dev Options though.... maybe something could be done with Tasker? I'll have to try myself when I get a chance.

Well, this all got fixed with android 10.

Good to know! Still waiting for that update though but I'm thinking it'll be soon.

Yes, it's fixed in Android Q. Mexican carrier Telcel (part of America Movil) has rolled out Android Q as an OTA as of March 11th, 2020.

Battery Indicator [TF3D]

Okay, so I went and did a search and checked out all the battery indicators that are usable for my Fuze. Most of them work on the today screen which I thought was nice, but I had TF3D enabled and don't play on taking it off.
I also rather not have the lil bar above the top curtain [I guess that's what you call it].
Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew of a battery indicator that can work well with TF3D. Or maybe creating a tab for it? Oh yeah, hopefully one that's not a battery killer either.
...just wondering.
ariel battery is really good(small footprint), you can customize all the colors and it shows percentage also. hope that helped
You can try WkTask ... there is additional battery indicator (very thin but well visible) on top of the screen. It works perfect on my TP, I mean even if internal indication shows 50% (which is definatelly not true) WkTask battery indicatior show real battery state.
Hope this helps.

I rather not use the lil bar at the top, and that particular one is a battery drainer. Thanks though.

Appreciate it, but when I researched that, it shows that's a whole customized thing for 6.1? I just want a battery indicator, that's it.

well if simple is what you want it looks like you might just wana stick with the one your phone came with.
I don't think we are talking about the same thing. Here is the link it really doesn't use much system resources at all.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364278
something clean simple and all white ( i even think theres custom colors, without the batt drain ) is :
pk's newwarning batt.
i rocked it with my tilt..and i used it once or twice with my FUZE..im now using some custom stuff but for simplicity and gettin the job done, i suggest that one.
if u need the files lemme know..i got em on a jump drive somewhere.
Late,
Jstar

Oh sorry, I had got that confused with another one.
But still, when I used that one on my tilt, it was a battery drainer as well.
Picky picky picky. I use batti and just tried ariel both are awesome. These are the best battery apps hands down.
Edit: In my oppinion at least.

Battery Percentage

Anyone know how to enable battery percentage?
Mines just shows the battery but it does show the percentage when I'm charging the phone.
I want it to show permanently. Any ideas?
Thanks!

There's a button for that.
Is there a different mod (ADB?) or app that shows battery percentage next to the battery? Perhaps there's a Nexus Trickster mod or something I'm overlooking? The app for non rooted phones is hard to see the numbers after 60% . I'd like to see something that has a 99% next to the battery and is the same size as the clock text.
If you are stocked and rooted check this thread out. Right now it just adds the battery percentage next to the battery, but by reading through the thread you will see there are going to be a lot more options added. http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/themes-apps/modpack-mcr-modpack-nexus-6-r1-t2996168

XT1254 Battery drain by Android OS

Hello!
Recently I've encountered strange bug - my phone keeps draining my battery with Android OS process. Since I have no root, I can't find out details ( Maybe you, guys could help? Did you happen to see such strange situation? Any solutions? I've tried disabling WiFi, WiFi optimization and checking/unchecking lots of other checkboxes all over settings
anyone? :crying:
I'm assuming to tried to reset the phone, by holding down the power button, past the time the screen pops up, then let go for it to power back on by itself.

Try the GSm battery monitor to get more details. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gsamlabs.bbm&hl=en
BTW Android System uses the most on mine also and I still get 24 hours of battery life...so it's not a big issue.

I also have more than 24h of lifetime. But it's not OK when Android OS uses more than screen and and keeps device awake.
I have this program Pro version installed. It's useless without root access. Can't tell me which package uses loads of battery
It's most likely an app that makes the android os be so high. Check first with gsam battery and if you find no issues that cause it then factory reset, update, then restore phone to how you had it.

Mi Mix Screen went out

Hi everyone!
I've been using split screen feature quite often, but when I placed it under sun today with this memory consuming feature, it turned slow and after 5 minutes, the screen went out. Still can hear the rings and vibrations but LED isn't coming back.
Can someone please help me how I can work this around, any shortcuts or hardware DIYs?

Looking like it's shut it's self down to stop over heating, put it somewhere cold and hopefully it will come back to life, switch it off first. Did you mean LCD screen isn't coming on?

It's working now. I turned on the flashlight (by taking guesses on position of the icon) to drain the battery faster, then when the battery died, I charged it and it worked.
Thanks!

But why drain the battery. You can switch the phone off pressing the power button 10 to 15 sec.

Battery draining after oreo updat

Hello everyone,
I received Oreo update 3 days ago and I have noticed that my battery is draining since that update. For instance, when I use facebook it drains by 1% every 2 minutes and it was not like that before update. What should I do?
I really need to go back to nogut.

I had the same when I first installed Oreo.
Then I went to Settings, Device maintenance , Battery, Battery usage and found that android system drained my battery. I un-ticked "Allow background activity" and fixed draining.
You may also give it some time to calibrate battery measurement.
After 6 days with Oreo, I can say it's a little bit better than Nougat regarding battery.

Thank you for your reply. I also noticed that Yesterday. Is it ok not to allow Android System in the background? Would that affect the usage of the phone?
Thank you again for your interest.

I'm facing this as well. I disabled all apps using background process.
Let's see it will solve this issue.

Do you use the built-in app power monitor in settings/battery?
Use Betterbatterystats to see what's going on. Additionally, try a day or two with wifi turned off. I had huge battery drains on nougat when wifi was on and with it off I got 5 days on a single charge!! Maybe the same bug carries over to Oreo? Not sure, but worth a try if you can afford the data usage.
I'm having the same issue, and it's not like Device Maintenance and BetterBatteryStats are showing anything suspicious at all. One night idle time is nice, then on other nights i find it having a decrease of 15%.

Your Android System drain is way too high...something wrong there for sure...
If you haven't already, do a full wipe/ factory reset. This fixes most problems, including battery drain, after a major update.

Have you tried better battery stats? Do you use the app power monitor in the Note 8 settings at all? It's got to be some of your apps or saved settings...

Wow!! Android system is killing it. Dude, I had the same issue on nougat. Not sure if it'll work on Oreo, but try it: turn off wifi completely. Use cellular if you can for a day or two. Do this after a full recharge so battery stats have resetted so you can see if that makes a difference.
Also, use Betterbatterystats and give it permissions on adb. Post screenshots from that. The one you posted already isn't telling at all.
I downgraded it to Nogut and I think I am fine now. F**k this update. I think this company is intending this sh*t to push up its sales.
Fix for battery drain for Note 8 after upgrading Oreo
1) Go to settings
2) Go to Apps
3) Click on the three dots located in the upper right hand corner.
4) Select "Reset App Preferences"
5) Power your phone off and on again and the battery draining problem should be fixed.

Have you tried it on your own ?
Yes. I am on my phone right now and have been on YouTube this evening with normal battery drain. After the update yesterday my battery was draining for no reason and I had to charge my phone three times. I remembered this fix from the last update when I didn't want to reset my device. I figured it had something to do with all of the Apps utilizing my location, so I wanted to do a reset of the Apps without resetting my device and it worked.
