Temp P20 BL Unlock, What can i do with it? - Huawei P20 Pro Questions & Answers

I followed this guide
HTML:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=79383551&postcount=18
It actually does work after bricking the device i was able to restore it by flashing the internals of the update.app. Im able to flash ANYTHING which you can with an unlocked bootloader, after you reset you lose the temp unlock obviously. Im wondering what can i actually do with being able to do this?, Because it relocks after a reboot is it useless? I have tried to root but i imagine the recovery_ramdisk file restores itself to its original state after reboot?
Any help or tips would be nice, thank you!.

No I'd say it's not useless. Will check it out..
If you can get TWRP can you flash anything? Custom ROM? Try AOSIP, can you flash magisk?
Try some things, what's possible?

Sadly nothing so far!, TWRP will install but won't show up after the reboot, maybe because the bootloader locks back?. I was able to unbrick the device and downgrade and upgrade etc, thats about it

There's another thread of a chap looking into cracking the bootloader, could your temp unlock help him in any way?
May be worth talking to him.

Brute forcing the unlock code it's just a waste of time and that "temporary" unlock won't help that guy anyway.

Is this device brickeable?

Hi!
I just got this phone today (Finally!) and i love it, but i want to get rid of all the bloatware from installed there by my carrier company, so i need to root the phone, right? I'd also love to flash ROM when we finally get some...
But my question here is... How birckeable is the xt890? Are all the rooting methods posted here safe?
Do we have any un-brick methods such as with NVflash?
Thanks!

Yes, you need to root to remove bloat included in your ~/system/app/ and ~/system/vendor/app/ folders. Easiet way is flashing a different fastboot XML file to a bloat-free carrier (like Retail EU or Retail GB).
As long as you do not go out of your way to remove both the bootloader and the bootloader backup file you won't be bricking.
We have plenty of fastboot restore files, but many require you to be unlocked bootloader to use. Honestly, I see people "brick" here from time to time and its because they never unlocked their bootloader.
None of the rooting methods will brick you or have a risk of it. Unlocking it is the least painful way to do so, motofail2go requires button combos and can be confusing.
We do have a ROM, but the guy posting (papi92) resides over at DroidRZR.com, if you want to test it I would PM him here or whatever you want.
We unbrick with fastboot. I have never broken fastboot and don't want to try
Enjoy your new device, remember though that Questions go into the Q&A forum.

Thank you very much for your reply.
I'm already rooted and have removed all bloatware, and are super happy with the device.
I was however unable to unlock my bootloader, this because when I enter the IMEI-related code corresponding to my phone on the Motorola webpage, it tells me that my device is not a candidate to get its bootloader unlocked.
This is why i had to root with Motofail2go. Im guessing not having my bootloader unlocked will be a big obstacle in the future when new ROMs start coming out. is that right=?
You should definitely grap Mattlgroffs Root Keeper Port for the i! If your BL isn't unlockable, you will lose root as soon as you get an OTA Update. The new OTA's are NOT rootable with Motofail2go!

Mainly because i cant complete the processes that there telling me to do. for example unlocking bootloader :/ WHAT A PAIN!!! and its still not done lol.
my phone details are....
Sony xperia Z1
Android Version (Now) 4.3 (Cuz i was told i was able to unlock bootloader on this version (Was i wrong!))
Build number: 14.2.A.0.290 (Same again,Been updated in my process of trying to root i think)
Dont no what else you guys need to help but them things come up often.
Please can someone just relive my stress and tell me if i can root or not, i would be very gratefull. if i can root then could someone also point me in the right direction to how to do this... simply step by step instructions (Pretending i have a new fone and a new laptop, needing to download EVERYTHING from fresh)
Dont see why the process cant be easy like iphones been jailbreaking them for years but there just rubbish fones!
thanks for any help in advance.

You can root your Xperia Z1. I don't see why you're struggling so much. You need to downgrade to .534 to root your phone.
Download this: http://www.flashtool.net/download.php
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49042627&postcount=9
This is how you root...
Yes, you can root your phone with 4.3, without Unlock Bootlader.

Do i have to unlock my bootloader for any features on a rooted device? I only really want to root to get rid of those horrid bloatware apps, not really sure what else you can do with a rooted device yet but i want to learn. Last time i rooted a device was in the HTC Desire Z days haha.
Ive spent hours trying to follow Sonys instructions to unlock bootloader but it doesnt work so im hoping i dont need to.

No. You don't have to. Unlock Bootlader is needed only to flash Custom Roms with Custom Kernels. With Locked Bootlader you still can flash Custom Roms with Stock kernels and get Root.

If the bloatware on your phone is the main reason then you can flash via Flastool a Unbranded FTF Android 4.3 like I did, clean and smooth.

Back again, still with no root or unlocked bootloader. Bootloader i can unlock but it wont let me because it says "Waiting for Device" all the time. ive followed the Sony guide to unlocking bootloader untill the bit it tells me to plug the device in fastboot mode. then it says the comp will want to install some drivers... point the computer to the Google File/USB_Driver,
1. my comp doesnt even ask me to install drivers when plugged in.
2. when i point the phone to that file through "Device Manager" it says there isnt any drivers there. im guessing this is the reason why im getting the "Waiting for device" problem.
Anymore ideas?

I have no idea, when I plug mine, windows always install the drivers and I am on Win 7 Ultimate.
This is more complicated that it should be and it's related to bootloader problems so I think this is the only one who can help you, the OP of this thread.

I think you should carefully read well all the tutorials because you getting confused.
If you do a Factory Reset you just reset your phone to how it was at the beginning and this will wipe all your data. (Apps, Data exc..)
Factory Reser have nothing to do with Bootloader or Root.
If you Unlock Bootlader, you will unlock permanently until you will not decide to re-lock it.
If you Root your phone you Root permanently. The only way to lose root is to flash a stock FTF not rooted.

You can only unlock using the asus unlock tool - the bootloader is encrypted and other methods won't work. Just keep trying it - it will eventually unlock. Some people said they had to try it hundreds of times before it eventually let them do it. No idea why.

Thank you anyway though I don't think continuous trying unlocking would be a feasible solution since I try billions of times and alter many network accesses. So annoying is it. The stock ROM is slow, odexed, laggy, and with piles of useless apps.

[Q]Stuff to do before unlocking bootloader/root

So I just got My OnePlus 3T and like most, would like it rooted! I have had experience with rooting and unlocking bootloader, but since My earlier devices were by Sony, there is a lot of difference. In Sony devices, there was no need to unlock bootloader to root, but it seems that for rooting 3T, I need to unlock bootloader. Even that doesn't seem difficult since there is this great guide with a toolkit. But My concern is that do I need to backup any partition before I unlock bootloader? Like in Sony we had a TA partition, which could be backed up before unlocking bootloader and would get wiped after unlocking bootloader. This is just for keeping it as backup and restore it to device if I decide to lock bootloader again. Also, will I loose anything if I unlock bootloader? Such as anything specific to OEM or camera functionality?
Nope. On OP devices there's no permanent penalty for unlocking. If you ever want to go back, you can re-lock the bootloader. But: unlocking and locking will wipe your phone. So you can't carry over root to a locked bootloader.

Okay, that helps! So to return back to locked bootloader everything would need to be like stock(no root, custom recovery etc.)
I had read somewhere about EFS backup and that it is related to IMEI number of the phone. This need to be done before or after the rooting process?
Also, would I need to disable encryption (as it is seen enabled in settings) and remove the fingerprint lock option before unlocking bootloader?
And just to be clear, I'm going to do following steps in the sequence to flash TWRP and root, Please let Me know if it is correct:
1. Unlock bootloader
2. Flash TWRP.
3. Flash SuperUser
all this with the help of ToolKit of OnePlus 3T. I don't need to take backup as the phone is new.
Also, I will be flashing the phh SuperUser for support with Magisk as mentioned here.
Hey, do you guys know if you can get official OTAs if you have TWRP installed?

You can always unlock bootloader but it may not as frp is lock. Best option is to use dload method and flash the update.app file. Let me know if need further help and will guide you thoroughly

Emmm…do you know the way to open the Android debugging(in Development options) by adb? Or other ways without entering the system normally? My phone can't connect to pc because Android Debugging is off.
