Z2 Force with a good working "unlocked" Pie... - Moto Z2 Force Guides, News, & Discussion

Hello folks, I've (really!) not the time needed to write down a good guide BUT I'm happy to inform you that I've just set up a RETEU Moto Z2 dual SIM (XT1789-06) with stock Pie + TWRP + Magisk/root + EdXposed with integrity/safenet passed and Google Pay working fine.
Procedure it's not free of tricky steps but at the end is possible to obtain a stable system. :highfive:
Eventually interested (guys) can post here for needed details...
(NOT by PM please...!!!)

Do you experience the anoying wifi issue?

i installed it with twrp 3.0 no issues while flashing
1. themes doesnt work. force closes
2. couldn,t make data work. couldnt add apn settings for jio. keyboard was acting weird. and connectivity app was force closing.
3. camera works (7mp) max
4. video recording works too.
5. tried calling with jio. didnt work for me.
i guess its still in the early stages. we should wait for a better build in the future.

Bro, Not only volte..
Also, We're not able to run 4G internet.
The preferred network type includes only Auto/3G/2G..
No 4G.. that is the reason, internet and voLTE isn't working.
And we'll not get stable release, as this is ported by third party meizu devs, and they always release beta builds.
Earlier, I flashed Flyme 5.
In that version, I wasn't able to boot.
Whenever, I tried to setup my language/country.. it reboots.
These flyme os builds aren't much usable.
They're just for experiencing FlymeOs

the rom is goood but volte and data are not working
Data and 4g working for me
I got data working but no VoLTE. Besides, I am unable to flash any GApps. I removed a lot of bloatware from the system partition and tried a GApps package with 38 MB size but that too is not installing. Guess we need a 10 or even maybe 5 MB GApps package for this ROM lol. Apart from that, the Theme app crashes (can't even change wallpaper) and the stock keyboard is not good at all after coming from Gboard.
As for the UX, I must say MIUI is a whole lot better. This ROM is cramped with all sorts of bloatware which even MIUI doesn't have. No wonder the size is 735 MB even without GApps. It is best to avoid this ROM. This ROM is only usable if you don't use a Google account. On the plus side, animations are quite good.

Use single sim on flyme 5, it won't work with dual sim. It boots fine with single sim.

Android 7.0 on T-Mobile

Hi folks! If you're on T-Mobile and run Nougat 7.0, can you tell me how your device perform? It seems that 7.0 wasn't tested by T-Mobile so I'm bit concerned about issues once I make the jump. Please let me know. Thank you

I'm on t-mobile and have used all the lastest img from google web site without an issue.
Currently I'm on Dark rom 8/27 build with the latest radio 05.45R and still havent had an issue. you should be good to go if you update with factory img.

Did you get the OTA update or did you flash it? Also, how's your connectivity? I had bad experience in the past after updating. Thanks!
I'm on 7.1.2 Pure Nexus (N6) and just made the jump from Sprint today. My number was ported by T-Mobile within 2 hours and the service is MUCH better. As a bonus, I can now call and use data simultaneously. Not possible on Sprint.
I've been a sprint customer since the early 1990s. That just goes to show how stupid I am ?
7.0 (Build NBD92G) is the current T-mobile supported build (but they sure don't say that anywhere on their website). T-mobile pushed that build several months ago to users on stock devices. I figure T-mobile has EOLed the Nexus 6 6 months before Google did, so plan to side-load the final 7.1 build when it drops next month.

I just bought a new unlocked Nexus 6 from Amazon. I would not have intentionally updated past the OS officially supported by T-Mobile, but during the setup, I accidentally upgraded it to Nougat 7.1.1. So far it is working great. This is the first Google phone I have ever used, and I like not having all the Samsung apps that I never use. It may be my imagination, but it seems to be running better than the Note 4 I was using.

This could be because Samsung has their own custom ui overlay "touchwiz" its been known to cause lag especially when the device is older and the software is back ported.
T-mo users, have you tried the latest 7.1.1? Since we just got the last update, I'm about to side-load. Any known issues on T-mo? I assume N6F27M is the one to go with?

The developer is: @quake73
He tested it on his own OnePlus 5 and previously had crDroid 5.0 treble installed. His phone is decrypted and has OB17 firmware.

Very smooth and no bugs at all Build OPT28.53 and I think only this build is available now. not other builds security patch level May 1 2018, tested for 8 hours already everything is working fine, just one thing how to change ringtone volume to be stable and not incremental..when I don't have experience with clean android so didn't find any place to change it to stable instead of incremental its annoying someone calling its starting low volume and then increasing.

Incremental call volume is an AOSP feature. Ask at https://t.me/MotoOnePower for the other ROM I referred on YouTube. You can also try Lineage 16 with some bugs!

Well, its a vanilla android ROM and probably it was before it was taylormade by google. The final ROM is different, it has the settings that Pixel 2 lineup came with when it came out with oreo 8.1. AOSP is also developed by google and its just more feature rich! No Harm. And trust me, incremental call volume can save you an emmbarassment in some quiet place! Saved me many a times!

It probably will be upgraded at some time. No idea when though. For some reason only some localizations are on Pie and the rest are postponed...
You could flash Pie manually if you are desperate to get it, but it mught be better to wait at least if you want to be sure everything works like it's supposed to and are not accustomed to Android flashing etc.

As Vofferz said . It *probably* will. Updates are released by regions. If there are some bugs, Sony may stop the update and/or not release the same update to other regions.
There are no detailed release notes for any new update (as I know of) so we can't be sure what were those bugs and reasons for stopping/not releasing updates for some region.
I'm on Customized DE and I also don't have the Pie (yet). But, I'm happy with my phone the way it is.
Pie upgrade may bring some good stuff (newer API), but also some bad things (like clock on the left-hand side and audio buttons default to media). Also, there were those possible bugs. (Some are mentioning GPS bugs etc.)
But if you must have the newest OS on your device, there is a way to flash Sony ROM from different region to your own device. To do that, you can use Newflasher and Xperifirm tools. Search for them on this forum. But I wouldn't recommend flashing if you're not experienced.
