Touchscreen issues? - Razer Phone 2 Questions & Answers

I keep experiencing touchscreen issues. Mostly in games like PUBG Mobile and such, but it also happens with normal use.
Basically, sometimes it doesn't register my taps and swipes. It will either just not register them, or jitter around. This is espically annoying in games, as the jitter and unregistered taps will mess you up a lot.
Is there anyway to fix this? I heard this is an issue on 8.1, but my phone reports it is on 9.
My phone is on the latest stock version, no root, etc.

I have the same issue with basic use and have found nothing this far to help the problem

Yeah, it seems that there's no solution to this. I really regret getting this phone, especially as this was marketed as a "gaming" phone.
My guess is it has something to do with the phone getting hot? I get this issue a lot worse in games than basic usage.

Weird Touchscreen Issue!!!

I have been facing a weird touchscreen issue since the beggining, dont know if its software related or hardware related.
While playing a game like Modern Combat 4, which requires multiple fingers to touch the screen at a time, sometimes my touchscreen doesnt recognizes my touch, it becomes boggly for some time, and after some time it gets normal.
There are others also facing the same issue as found on sony forum: http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z1/xperia-z1-touchscreen-problems/m-p/410611#U410611
Can anyone confirm the same.
Yup!... having similar issue while playing game, sometimes aim or player stop moving. I thought it was because of sweaty fingers. Tested the screen in diagnosed section as shown in the video and sometimes it lags.
Have you consulted sony center about the same?

According to me its a software issue, as it mostly works fine. And i feel every user might have the same issue?

Hmm... i had my phone for nearly a month now. i am facing the same issue here too...
i'm still in stock but rooted via vroot for ad free usage and TtB.
scrolling up or down a list will sometime click on the list while still in a drag. act like you lift your finger and tap again.
scrolling a page in chrome will result like the above or screen will zoom in or out. like you keep on tapping the screen from zooms.
some games are impossible to play after some time bug keeps coming back.... i play rhythm master (can see some demo in youtube)
possible to reproduce problem from multi touch tester. give it a good 20 fast taps with both thumb than move you thumb around the screen.
question is... is this a hardware issue, driver issue, additional screen protector or other things like dust stuck at some edge of the screen and made it this way.
dose guys that took off the shatter proof screen still have this problem?
problems above happens provided my screen is clean and i do have an additional screen protector above the shatter prove screen.
my solution is to apply some baby oil on to the screen and give it a good wipe. And I seems to be able to play my games properly

[ROM][4.4.4][Unofficial] AOKP TF701T [06-27-1014][Nightlies]

Just wanted to share an unofficial build of AOKP for our TF701T's I did for myself.
Special thanks to Team AOKP for their wonderful rom!
Disclaimer: You flash it, you break it, you fix it. I will be update the builds weekly or so as new features are added into AOKP regularly.
Flash the same as any other rom. Use current Banks Gapps.
Known issue: I have enabled the glcomposer in the build.prop because the overall smoothness and battery life is greatly improved. However, because ASUS hasn't updated past 4.3, there may be occasional graphical glitches. You can disable the glcomposer by removing the one line in build.prop containing glcomposer in it BUT do try as it is first and see the difference for yourself. I have been using it for a couple weeks now and the graphical glitches are very small and barely noticeable.
Examples of where to see smoothness include: Scrolling homescreens. Swiping pages in App Drawer. Swiping pages in the widget drawer. Swiping away notifications while on homescreen. Swiping down notifications and quicktiles while on homescreen. Swiping to Google Now page in GEL launcher.

Excellent work. Very fast. No graphical glitches so far that i can see. Lets of options.:good:
It's great to see another ROM option for the tf701t! I just tried this out. The graphics really are quite smooth, and I love all of the customization options. Alas, as with cyanogenmod and cromi, Bluetooth functionality is severely diminished -- a mouse barely moves the cursor at all and a keyboard has severe typelag making it unusable. Any idea what's going on thereand how to fix it? I'm happy to be a guinea pig.
Awesome, glad to see other people trying this out!
I will post weekly build updates as often as possible.

Im amazed how smooth it is. I guess this shows with this tegra4 theres still room for improvement which is a good thing.
It's very nice. The camera doesn't crash, and I the current version of Netflix doesn't crash. With some roms I've had to use 3.0.

So I just remembered I had an old Microsoft Notebook mouse 5000. I connected it and it works perfectly normal.
No lag or delay whatsoever...any chance you have another mouse to try?

Not a mouse, but I had another bluetooth keyboard, so I paired it up and gave it a try. Worked perfectly fine with no typelag :/ The one that doesn't work is a combo keyboard/touchpad. I don't think xda will let me link to a product on amazon, but it's a "tp cromeer" branded case with builtin bluetooth keyboard/touuchpad. Made for the N8000, but it fits the tf701t quite nicely.
Any idea why just this one device wouldn't work?

I actually have a mini combo keyboard touchpad I can try tonight.
My guess is going to be some sort of silly device incompatibility though...
I dont have any problems with this inexpensive bluetooth keyboard.
I do find though. I dont know if its possibly the kernel or android itself or if too many apps are running in the background. Input in general and reponsiveness is lost completely until reboot. It starts to lag all input I think. Like touch sensitivity etc. I wonder if anyone else has found this on to be the case on this device. Not sure if there is some app thatll restore it by killing processes possibly. Another thing I notice is that Android is running tonnes of threads. Compared to the few that run on linux. 600+ on android. Less then 100 threads on Linux usually depending on the distro. This rom right now has 900+ threads showing in htop. But it is still smooth as butter. Maybe thats not a big deal then.

It happens on all roms, but it would be a very subtle thing. I dont see it really as a problem. Just something that requires a reboot.

Yes -- I know exactly what you're talking about I think.
On any ROM I've tried, it happens. A fresh reboot always clears things up, but after running a few apps (and / or putting the tablet to sleep overnight perhaps?) the whole system lags a bit. General stuff, like switching programs and running apps like Tapatalk and Engadget (for example). I'm forced to kill apps manually, and that sometimes does the trick.
One thing I tried out yesterday that seems to be helping -- give this a shot too: in your developer settings, you'll see that you can restrict how many background processes are running. Currently, I have background processes limited to just 2 at a time (and also "strict mode" enabled)... and I have to say, I'm noticing a difference! Might take some more testing to see what the pros and cons of this are, but if it just means that I don't have background processes piling up on me, this might be a workaround?
Aside from that, has anyone tried Greenify with good results?

Honestly guys, I don't see this issue using this AOKP rom...I've left it for a few days no reboot, and I don't see any slowdowns/lag.
On a brighter note, I have a new build ready to be uploaded tonight.
I messed up some merges for battery/charging and was struggling to sort it out the last couple days.
All good now.
New build will be up later tonight.

Honestly other than debloating, I could have left it stock as well.
I have incredibly itchy fingers though If I'm not messing with something that can turn my phone into a paperweight, I'm not having fun. Even the ram management stock wasn't noticeable to me. The Tmobile bloat is horrible, and I love loading ROMs and screwing with stuff I shouldn't be for the sake of the community.
LMT pie, adaway, custom roms, alliance framework, volume warning removal, de bloating, viper4android, etc... Root is always necessary.

You are not missing much by not rooting. Nothing out there anyways. Most bloat can be disabled. No fix for ram issues. Only samsung can fix it if they want.

Agree, you won't miss much by not rooting. I have disabled most of the bloat which are allowed to be disabled. I can switch between apps without any issues. I got a replacement device last week because the previous one will just turn off itself even if the battery is charged. the "new" (Actually is seems refurbished) works well so far. I have repeated the same process on disabling the unwanted apps, turning off wifi calling and VoLTE, screen on auto brightness, all the usual stuff. Battery life is not great, but can last a working day with moderate usage. If you are on the road, and use camera, maps, then battery drains quickly. If t-mobile network is poor where you are( which is a not unusal), battery will drain even quicker.
T version has to many app from stock... Almost 1.5gb of trash stuff.

I semi-bricked my phone and haven't been rooted since bringing it back to life. The only thing I truly miss is AdAway. It's been years since I had to browse the web without an ad blocker and I feel like they've turned up the onslaught ten fold.
Not bad at all.
Sent from my SM-G920T using XDA Free mobile app
I wouldn't root either, but I hate ads, ad-away is a must for me. Adguard and all those work when browsing but not in apps. Until then I will stick to 5.0.2 with root. If anyone knows of a alternative for ad blocking like ad-away does, please let me know.
I need root. Few reasons. Debloating, ViperFX and volume button skip mod (whenever we get one)
Also really really hoping official Cyanogenmod makes it to this phone. I miss AOSP with all my heart.

It's too damn big lol plus I prefer Samsung software. The S4 was perfect because of Google's GPE program. But since that's dead the best I can hope for is that sooner or later CM will come to the S6.

Slowness/freezing etc

Hey guys, G-925A user here. Can anyone please tell me if I'm the only one experiencing slowness, freezing and overall glitchiness on my s6 edge?
I mean this thing has 3gb of ram right? It should breeze through multitasking, but it just crawls. My g2 and g3 were waaay faster and never froze up as much as this thing does.
Is it touchwiz? Att bloatware? I'm rooted and using titanium backup to freeze as much bloatware as I could find. But it still doesn't work as well or as fast as I believe a phone with these specs should.
Looking for ideas from the community here, should I try cleanrom? Has anyone experienced similar issues and fixed with custom rom?
Thanks in advance guys!!

I have the same phone on ATT. I don't have any freezing or reboots, but after about 2 days without restarting, it gets super slow.
I have used several debloated roms and they help a lot. The S6 partial memory fix helps a little bit, but the phone slows down more in the long term (restarts always help helps).
same experience here. memory fix only lasts so long. phone comes down to a crawl so badly that sometimes i think the phone completely locked up. happens during texting, using FB...pretty much everything. it's starting to get annoying. i love this phone but this is horrible.
Same here. So frustrating. Happened to me the other day that I needed driving directions. My wife pulled out her iphone 5s and asked siri. She had turn by turn before I could even load the gmaps screen. She laughed at me. It hurt. =(
Do a factory reset - it worked WONDERS for me, ever since, my Edge has been super smooth. It's painful, I know, but the thing was so laggy for me I wanted to chuck it hard against a brick wall. Now it's back to what it originally promised! I suspect doing it every 3-4 months is probably going to be a requirements for power users...

Unfortunately that is the norm. Hopefully AT&T will get around to releasing 5.1.1 since the latest update (on T-Mobile, for example) seems to address most of the issues we see like the lag, and battery drain.
Although some of the blame is due to Android 5.0.x, it is primarily Samsung since I have other phones still on 5.0.x (ASUS ZenFone 2, HTC One M9) that do not suffer from the lag.
AT&T bloatware
I think this is due to the mandatory AT&T updates that are pushed on to our devices, because there is a noticeable decrease in performance after OTA updates from AT&T:crying:
Seems like I'm not the only one experiencing this issue. It's sad that this device performs so badly.
I think I'd like to unroot it and actually install the OTA updates, just to see if it works faster. Does anyone know a simple guide to unrooting?
The funny part is that benchmarks still show high scores.

thought i would add something here. I have since sold my 925a and bought a 920t to have ability to use twrp and unlocked bootloader. (insert big middle finger to at&t here). i have installed xtrestolite and have to say the phone runs so much fast than my edge on att with frozen bloatware ever did. no real freezing during multi-tasking, camera still opens quite quick. I mean so much of an improvement, so I would have to say it's got do do with att/carrier software that ruin the customer experience for us. good luck to you all out there. now the wait for xposed begins...
I went the other way. I had a 920t and gave it to my Dad. Picked up a 925a for myself. I'd do anything to have the speed of my original s6 back. I love the edge, but geez does this thing lag.
I gave in and flashed the original os. The device runs significantly better. It seems the themes from Samsung slowed down my phone and caused a lot of issues with the dialer app.

So I finally got so sick and tired of the slowness... decided to flash the XtreStoLite ROM... I am so freaking happy that I did. Not that complicated and it is so much faster!

You probably froze/disabled an app you shouldn't have. The system is stalling because of this.

B321 volume problem

Hey people, i noticed a bug in changing volume. When i want to shut volume down by pressing volume - button, and then one click to volume +, it will change back to high value, not just one step more. Do you have same problem guys?
EDIT: see video: https://youtu.be/iPZpL96oYBs
Is it possible this is happening becouse of root and TWRP? I read it cant effect smartphone performance but i dont know.

just little update, it has not been in B321a... the volume is jumping from lows to highs with onle click, but its happening sporadic, not alway, its still buggy, hope they will fix it, however they are useless in matter of support, so i dont believe it much
updated OP with video presentation of the bug, please write me if you have same problem, its not happening always, but its happening when your phone is in a bit more usage (about 3 apps in background), thanks

I dont no if its because of root. I dont think so. I dont have any problems with MM except battery life, it's a little worse dan LP. Overall I think its better and even camera is better on the last version. With 317 I had focussing issues with shooting a video and thats gone now.
