Any rooting advice for Nokia 9 Pure View? - Nokia 9 PureView Questions & Answers

Hi there!
I'd like to know whether anyone has rooted his/her Nokia 9 Pure View?
I have so many apps in my phone so they'll drain the battery. I'd like to root it in order to get Greenify to work more effectively.

A few basic questions regarding using SIM unlocked Focus S, please help.

Question 1: Seems like Focus S is never getting as much love as HTC Titan for some reason, why is that?
OK, I just got two extra WP phones I got back in 2012 SIM unlocked, sammy focus S and HTC Titan. I plan to give one to my parents in China to use, who are not tech savvy nor heavy cellular data user at all. I have a few questions based on what I skimmed through several WP forums (XDA etc) that I need you experienced users' help.
1. Which one is more idiot-proof for old users, focus S or Titan?
2. Once I SIM unlocked it, I assume they can just pop a local SIM to talk and txt, right? Anything else that needs to be manually set up?
3. I noticed a few threads talking about tricks of setting APN with Straight Talk. How about TMobile? And I assume that's only used for data usage right? If my parents just use it to talk and txt plus WIFI, it should be fine just leave the settings unchanged?
4. Also a lot of threads were debating whether to upgrade to WP7.8 or not and how to do it. Now it's 2014, is WP7.8 upgrade pushed automatically by MS already or I still need to follow the instruction and use 3rd party tools to do it?
5. Is there any custom ROMs for this phone at all? And what are the immediate updates/mods you guys suggest if I boot up the phone for the first time.
Thanks so much.
5.
The focus s was unfortunately an ATT exclusive , meaning one of the best designed windows phone 7 devices ever made was also only available to a tiny number of users, hence the lack of love!
As for setting it up,network unlock it, interop unlock, setup apn , update to 7.8 an your done

Dude,
With the exception of ONE device, the immortal HTC HD2, there has never been any (current) device that has had cross platform support, and lets be clear about the HD2, it was a WM device, that was opened up, and rather handily was also used as a test platform for WP. its android life started out as a hack that ran (initially) from within windows, later moved to its own ROM via MAGLDR. There was a lot of very cleaver people using a single device thus it had a lot of support to do these wonderful things.
OEMs shipping android then went nuts and made so many new devices it diluted the support available to specific phones and effectively killed off any further "HD2 Moments"
So no, the focus S doesn't have Android support. No one is working on it, no one tried to and to my knowledge no one will ever work on it, the same can probably be said about most phones.
Besides that, I cant remember which one because there was so many different versions it is but its essentially the same as the Samsung Galaxy 2(s?) so why not buy that if you want android on it?
and Finally
This has been asked So many times about so many devices, even googling it brings up an answer within the first few posts. Just take this as a wee helping hint, try search for your questions, this site has so many users over so many devices that statistically, its likely any question you may have has probably been answered somewhere by someone else

Downgrade active from 5.0 to kk (to root) possible?

I'm sure this question has probably been answered, somewhere, but it's proven impossible for me to find locate a definitive answer. There are so many different variables.
For the love of all that is good, would somebody please lay it on me: am I SOL or is there some slim ray of hope that I can downgrade my device so that I can use Towelroot? This latest time I've found a little new material so dumped 3 hours chasing down dead ends to no avail.
There are so many half assed or antiquated tutorials out there, many of which weren't carried out by their creators or they'd have found they missed a step. One points to chainfire downloads but the 870A is not supported. Geh.
Thanx for whatever help you can give me!
Has anyone got a guide to rooting a s5 active on android 5. The at&t software is driving me nuts especially the TV remote. Has anyone got a guide to rooting a s5 active on android 5.
The at&t software is driving me nuts especially the TV remote it's hideous and sits in the background.
Many thanks

Unfortunately we don't have an experimental firmware to flash on the Active. This is preventing us from developing a reliable and safe rooting method at the moment.
There's a small chance you'll have some success with Kingroot on Lollipop, but (as with all chinese one-click root things) Kingroot is very sketchy and I would factory reset before trying to use it, since it is known to send data to China.
Sorry we can't be of much more help The actives have always been significantly harder to root.

Android Pay - to root or not to root

I was about to root my phone, when I read a saw a thread in Top Forum Discussions regarding Android Pay not working with root.
For me this is a huge problem
One of the reasons I bought this phone, was because of the amazing community behind custom roms.... however;
Android Pay is just way too convenient for someone like me, living in London. I use public transport, and am able to use contactless payments basically anywhere I go.
For me this means I won't root my phone anymore, can't enjoy any great customs anymore, and kind off kills the reason for me even buying this phone. Not that it isn't a great phone, it's just that a lot of different options would've been available for me.
Anyone else in the same boat?
PS: Before stating there are other ways to pay; if you've ever used Android Pay for a week in a city where you can use it ANYWHERE you go, every bar, shop, supermarket, etc. You'd understand the convenience in daily life
EDIT: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/mod-magisk-v1-universal-systemless-t3432382
Apparently there is a solution as of today!
Exodus rom passes the safetynet challenge with google, so you can use android pay on there (without root ofc), there are a few others but can't remember which ones, and i'm not flashing a load to find out right now - with your story, same here - contactless is everywhere!
Could you elaborate on that? You have to root the device to be able to flash the rom right?
Don't lose your hope and have a look here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-rootcloak-completely-hide-root-t2574647
Maybe it could be a good solution to face that problem. In my case, in spite of I have rooted my device, after installing that Xposed mod, I can pay with my phone everywhere using my ING Direct bank account without problems.
Sounds great! I'll take a look
I feel your pain @ Pengod I'm in the same boat, this is the first Android device I've own this long without root because of Android pay.....I saw a few options around the inner-webs but nothing seem 100% proof. If there is a 100% way of having root + android pay I'm in......
Unfortunately, it doesn't work on my device.
You can flash a stockish ROM and then unroot and Android Pay will work. I'm using [ROM]OP3Lite 2.2.1.
When you flash the ROM it will be rooted but just unroot using SuperSU and you get the benefit of the ROM
and you can use Android Pay.
Why do you want google to know all o your transaction history?
Whats the different between android pay and a contact-less enabled bank/credit card?
exactly...I really don't see the value in Android Pay when every bank/credit card has contactless/tap payment available. In the time you open the app and setup the payment on your phone, you can also take out your wallet...unless you're a girl and have a huge purse or something
Simply put, I have two pockets, one for my phone, one for my cigarettes. If I can use Android Pay, that's all I need. Without Android Pay I need to bring along wallet/cardholder with my cards.
I don't care if google knows my transaction history, because I'm not naive, they already know everything they want to know about me anyway... if they'd care.
Maybe there's a solution now! Check the new link

Looking for T817V Assistance

Hey, fairly new to the mobile rooting scene. Had some issues with my Huawei a few years back, but now I wanna get into rooting again.
For starters, I have a SM-T817V, currently on Android 7.0. I understand that there may be airtight issues with rooting Verizon devices, but I was hoping someone had some sort of idea on how to get around it. Seems everyone else has W's, A's, P's, and even T's, but V's are probably the hardest to deal with right? Anyway, I'm not looking for any custom ROMs or anything, just want it rooted for adblocking and greater control. If anyone could help, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Few questions before I get my P20 Pro

Hello!
My phone will be here tomorrow and before I open it I wanted to ask a few questions. With the Oneplus 6 looking like it might actually have a decent camera, I am really thinking about not opening the P20 and just selling it as unopened. I am coming from an iPhone X and decided to try an iPhone after waiting forever for updates for every android I have had he past 8 years. It has been 6 months and I have had more than enough of iOS and can't wait to get rid of it....
1) How is Huawei with updates? Better than Samsung? I have read some grumblings that they are not good about fixing issues that are software related...
2)How much of the bloatware is baked in? Can you remove most of it?
3) Are the Huawei versions of the google apps bad? How customizable are they?
I decided to try this phone even though it isn't sold or supported in the US because the pictures I have seen with the camera look great to my eye. One of the few redeeming qualities of the iPhone were the pictures.
1) they are almost like twins with regards on features and updates only difference between s9 plus and p20 pro is if you want camera go p20 pro if performance is important go for s9 plus
2) there is alot of huawei apps but they include google apps as well it really did not bug me when i started using this because you can always hide them , use another launcher to easily find what you really need.
3) huawei apps was created because google apps is banned in china. but me as a google person i just stick with google because everything on my life revolves in google now.
