***********TERACUBE*********** - Teracube smartphone

I searched and nothing came up in XDA. Shocked that there wasn't anything.
This phone is a kickstarter. We ordered four of them and received them last week. Loving them so far. The company is pro rooting and have even posted instructions for users on their support pages.
Plan on doing a review soon.

Good Start
Great idea, thanks for getting this started. I am with you, so far the Teracube phone has exceeded my expectations.

I am enjoying the Teracube also, and I am looking forward to more with it's capabilities! (including root)

Thanks guys! We will be more active on xda from here on. Feel free to post new topics or PM me.

I like the sound of this device. I have added one to my cart, and will (soon ) get one. Still hoping to find a device on sale price.
*******†EDIT†******†
For the $300 plus price I rather get something like a "Moto g stylus. -$300"
"Samsung A20 $140".
Sorry I'm out on this for now.
********†††*******
In the mean while, I have built twrp from source for my upcoming new device.
..
..
This will not work when device officially updated to Android 10. This is dead end adventure for now.
Added a folder for Tertacube on my android file host. currently only have an untested build of twrp in it.
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=310205
Initial basic tree is at https://github.com/mrmazakblu/Teracube_minimum_twrp-device-tree.
And build is made from omni_minimal manifest for twrp. Branch twrp-9.0 https://github.com/minimal-manifest-twrp/platform_manifest_twrp_omni

UPDATE (14th June 2011):
We are now over the 10,000 mark.
I have now spoken with Motorola and gotten confirmation that Motorola plan to unlock every device that will get an update in the second half of this year. This will include maintenance & firmware updates, but is still subject to Carrier approval.
The promising sign is that Verizon has already allowed Motorola to unlock a device on their network, the Xoom, which utilizes the unlockable/re-lockable model that Motorola intends on using across their devices.
I'm still looking to work with Motorola in the coming months to help see if we can make this a smooth process for Motorola and the community.
You can read the article here:
http://ausdroid.net/2011/06/14/an-u...witter&utm_campaign=Feed:+ausdroid+(Ausdroid)
Please share this where you can and keep it alive. I will continue to work with Motorola to see if we can get this thing torn wide open.
UPDATE (26th April 2011):
We are now at ~8,700 mark.
Motorola has now responded to me, stating that they are looking at unlocking bootloaders across their devices late 2011.
The article for the story can be found here:
http://ausdroid.net/2011/04/26/the-little-aussie-taking-on-motorola-u-s/#more-8184
We're still seeking clarity around whether this will be for current devices or only future devices.
I couldn't have gotten this far without the support of everyone here. You guys and girls have been a huge support and help me turn this snowball into a wrecking ball.
Please share this where you can and keep it alive. I will continue to work with Motorola to see if we can get this thing torn wide open.
Previous Update (4th April 2011):
We are now at ~7600 mark.
We're starting to slow down from our initial boom, so I have now set up a Facebook page to see if we can wrangle in some supporters that don't use Twitter or XDA.
I will need your help getting this out there. So share the facebook page where you can.
I'm also looking to see if anyone is interested in helping me Moderate the page. Please PM if you are.
Original Post:
Hi All,
I have created a Groubal (online petition) to get a response from Motorola on it's bootloader policy.
>>This petition started for the Atrix, but I made sure that it was for Motorola's overall Bootloader Policy. I have reached 200 signatures in 2 weeks, but now believe it's time to expand this out of the Atrix space and into the larger Motorola Dev community.
Ok guys, we now have nearly 800 signatures, nearly 500 in one night alone.
Keep up the great work everyone, this wouldn't be going anywhere without your support.

It would be even better if we could get XDA to post it as an announcement across all the forums, but unfortunately I don't know any of the administrators well enough to do it.
If you want to champion that for us, that would be greatly appreciate. I'm starting to find myself spread to thin on this one.
Groubal has been attacked again!
Hello Irwin,
Yes indeed...Groubal was hacked once again. We have our technical team and our hosting enterprise working feverishly on this to remedy the problem.
Clearly your petition and all your supporters have touched off serious nerves; and your message has created amazing awareness around the world now.
We will fix the problem and move forward. Please take the time to let everyone know on all the forums what has happened to Groubal.
Thanks in advance,

Just sent this tip to Engadget.com
Please shed some light on the petition by the Android user community requesting that Motorola to unlock the bootloaders on their Droid phones. Smartphones are not just phones that can browse the web, they are mobile computing devices that can make phone calls.
We pay a large sum of money to own these mobile computing devices but we are not able to modify the operating system like any other personal computer that each of us own.

[Q]Why is this commuinty flourish just now?!

Hi everyone!
It might sound silly and i hope i post it in the right section, but i just bought the S3 mini(N version) and before i buy a new device i check XDA community status, checking for custom roms, root, recovery etc etc....
coming for a very huge community of a flagship device(HTC Desire HD, which had 4.2.2 update just a few days after official google release)
i was disappointed to see not too many roms in the development section especially for the N version (and no fully working CM rom),
but it was still enough, so i bought it and i'm very pleased.
Nowadays i see the community flourish! new N version compatible roms, toolkits, themes, all updated and with constant replays from the chefs,
so a question pops into my head... why now?!
the device was released in November 2012... what took so long?
i do understand it's not a flagship device but still.... i'm wondering...
i know the reason i bought the device right now it's because of it's low price at the moment(about 350$ in Israel).
on the same note i would like to thank all the developers and who ever is contributing to this wonderful community, may it continue to grow!!!
The community's been around for a while. This phone's only about 6 months old, root was gained inside a week, and they were struggling to get a working recovery that didn't cause a soft brick for a couple months. Give the devs time to get us a working CM build.
Sent from Spaceball One.
Chill out, better now than never, take a look at Galaxy Ace, it's from 2010 (?) and still receives new roms and updates. I prefer our phone to be maintained for 2-3 years than have a quick but short span of excitement and then nothing.
let's clear something, i am chill and i praise the devs for the work for how long it will take,
it was all from curiosity! sorry if anyone thought otherwise!
you gave me good answers and i see the development moving on rapidly, may this device will have support for at least a few years.
thanks guys.

It is great phone. I am sure that developers will make great stuff for it. Cheers

Now that this Rom/Mod is gone, what will you switch to? this was the first rom I used where EVERYTHING worked 100%...Now what? What is the closest thing that runs like stock with the nice extras?
thoughts?
Don't know, hopefully it will resurface before the next Android update.

Waiting for the next Google OTA and flash only system. Only Stock or Cataclysm, nothing else is not an option for me. Unfortunately!
Maybe, it'll be return in a big way.
Hm, I just saw what happened to the ROM. That's unfortunate what happened because ultimately the users and the developer lose out. His critics really lose nothing by him leaving.
At any rate, I made a nandroid in case it gets revisited, but I wiped the ROM and using a different one.

I think it's either staying at latest cataclysm (which works great) or going stock + xposed and gravity box
Probably switch back to stock and deal with xposed.

I've used Pure Nexus and Chroma. Both are very similar. Kinda like Ford or Chevy, it's personal taste. Both are good but they are custom so Android Pay will not work.

I like Cataclysm due to Android Pay working. Outside of that, I'd rather do a complete custom ROM.

Someone accused the developer of not releasing code or something to that extent so his thread was moved from "Android Original Development" to "Android Development". He probably got angry and asked the mods to close the thread. It's too bad he let them get under his skin, but I can see how it would be frustrating.

I tried to post hunt to see what happened and couldn't find anything. So sad. This was best ROM I've ever used on N6. I have bookmarked page on AFH and will check periodically. Beyond that, if nothing after February Google update I will be forced to find another. So frustrating to not know what happened.

There is a populace here in XDA that doesn't/didn't like that he got too keep his rom in original development sections without releasing sources whereas many other devs had to keep proving to XDA mods that they have actually written their stuff and not just kanged it from another rom.
And as a result he was time again asked by various users to release his sources to prove that he didn't kang his stuff from other roms.
The additions he had in Cataclysm could certainly be found in other roms and earlier too but perhaps not in the same implement or even code. Or perhaps it was all copied. We'll probably never know now that he got fed up and left.
A fact is though that much of what XDA is now is based on being open source (if SuperSU isn't counted) so I do think all devs deserve the same treatment. If some have to publish their sources, then others should too.
As a matter I think it's best left at these facts without any more unnecessary drama.
---
And back on topic. Both Pure Nexus and Chroma are good alternatives for users looking at a near-stock experience with some modifications.

If you read this you will understand:
1 - Apparently, some developers agreed with what's published here: https://plus.google.com/+AlexCruz/posts/FVbxmtyop7W
2- Yesterday, atl4ntis nexus 6 thread got moved to the android development section.
3- He immediately asked for his threads to get closed.
4- He published this on his pushbullet
"Cataclysm development halted indefinitely
Dear users, after spending over four years on this project almost daily, apparently i'm still questioned over the originality of it.
I came to the conclusion that this is not fun anymore and i don't really deserve this attitude, so i've decided to spend my time on something else from now on.
If you feel offended by this decision and you've donated in the past 2-3 months (unfortunately paypal logs don't go over), feel free to send me the transaction id and i'll charge it back, like already did for the donations received today to cheer me up.
Thank you for the great moments spent together.
Cheers, atl4ntis."
That's it, sadly.
His work was ORIGINAL, if anyone doubts that they are new or frankly idiots or have a vendetta. There is no requirement on XDA to open source your work.
I hope people who hounded him and forced his thread to be moved are happy. It is a ridiculous thing to happen to by far the most popular rom for Nexus by a very respected dev.
XDA mods should really take a close look at this whole mess and rectify it, no one wins in the end.

Thanks for the info. Guess I'll just be shopping for a new rom. This was one of only 2 roms I found on which my "Dock Clock Plus" app would work.

Not really much point going into this. Whether his work was original or nothing doesn't even matter.
Fact is that he got treated differently than other "original devs" and fact is that because of this he got bothered almost as long as he released his rom.
He finally got enough and that's the end of that. Further drama won't do anything good.
According to @Neo, Original Development sections are being taken down anyway, if I understood his post correctly.
It's a shame..... Cata was the best way to go for me, too.
now without cataclysm we got only one option is left. EXPOSED FRAMEWORK and MODULES. individual module for individual features.
Anyone know how to leave cataclysm for stock rooted rom without full wipe? Can i just flash over it?
Does OK Google work perfectly on these (pure and chroma)? screen off in the car... I always had trouble with it on AOSP, not on cat though!

We already have taken a closer look at this. Now while as already stated Og Dev and Android dev having separate forums is over. All new devices will only have one section.
Now we will not talk about this but the dev has been given plenty of chances to that the rom was indeed OG development. (no XDA doesnt require the rom to be open source) The issue with that is without it being open source there is no way to prove that any work is OG development.

Compare to the Oneplus Two, yeah, it seems they learned their lessons. But I really want to see in future what will happened. One other thing: I'm really scared about Oneplus Two development..
Releasing the sources, there is a lot of potential here. I am far from a developer with the Android platform, but the user experience I and many others might seek is to have more control over our personal device. No matter how small great of a tweak, this makes it 10x more adventurous imo.
I personally was able to order one. I am not settled on just Android, as I own Windows and iOS devices, but for what it packs I could not pass up the opportunity.
EDIT: Releasing this may also boost their initial volume in sales too...
There is already an unofficial CM13 Build available, so yeah this is pretty good news!

I'm assuming by now that you actually work for op ?
Maybe you could pass on the message to the customer support team who informed me only a couple of days ago 'we do not recommend unlocking bootloader or rooting and as such cannot give you the stock IMG to restore your device to factory settings' - of course I managed to find the fastboot file that I needed courtesy of @mauronofrio but this attitude from the online so called 'customer support team' this runs very contrary to what you are informing us of here which I have no doubt at all that what you are telling us is true. But - if op really wants to win over the Android enthusiast community then someone really needs to make sure that customer services know this!

Well here's an idea, if op really is so committed (grateful - remember humble beginnings with so much support from the Android enthusiast community) - then give recognised developers their devices at the same time that they go into the hands of all the reviewers - they can surely ask them to sign non disclosure agreements in the same way that reviewers are asked to. Let's think about it, why are reviewers devices given to them before release - well it's simple, op is relying on the hype train to grow their brand - the Android enthusiast community is a tiny portion of their sales revenue, thus not that important really no matter what they say - come on Peter Lao and Carl Pei - show us with action that you really care about the Android enthusiast community with action including ensuring that your support team is ready to help us modders just as much as helping the average Joe - how about actually releasing the source code for the BLOB's to give us working HAL's so that we can actually use the hardware we have paid for the way that we want to. I attended the one plus 'open ears' event in London last year and spent the day on a working group with Carl, he seems like a genuinely nice guy, and super committed to his company and it seemed to us the users - my challenge to you Carl and Peter - show us that you are really 'listening' and stay true to where you began with the support you relied on in the early days from the Android enthusiast community by really supporting us rather than just passing lip service.
Now let's see how 'open' op is really and see if this post gets censured (I've kept a copy just in case it does get scrubbed and of course will start a brand new thread with it if need be!)

I gave them my email address, full name, both IMEI numbers - so with all that info one would hope that there is some records somewhere.
Wait, yes, they sent me an email as well and booked in a remote session so that am engineer could flash my device - which was pretty infuriating really as clearly I am more than capable of doing that myself, if they just gave me the IMG file that they were surely going to flash my device with lol.
