why are my random write speeds so low? - Redmi K20 Pro / Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro Questions & Answe

4x-5x slower than what benchmarks usually show for this model!
What are your speeds?

Random Write: 25,89 MB/s 6627.94 IOPS
Xiaomi.eu 11.0.5.0 Stable + QuaxV3
I guess it is normal speed.

I just tested and here are my speeds:
P. S. I have Mi 9T Pro 6/128GB on MIUI 11 global.

That's good !
I think I'm having low scores because of less free space (nand speeds affected by amount of free space) = just 24GB/128GB
May I ask how much of free space were you having arm of the test?

You're right, I have lot of free space(check picture in attachment).

Am I blessed with a special phone? I wonder why my sequential write is that high..

Available 39gb Total 64gb

I had 24MB/s on Random Write with EXT4. I formatted the data partition to F2FS and now i got 150MB/s on random write.

[Q] Real RAM much less than 1,5Gb ?

In phone specifications CPU-Z and Antutu say only 1258MB RAM, not 1536MB (1,5Gb)...
It's only me the unluck guy?

Anyway, better than mine.
I wrote to Samsung Customer Service and they replied me that a quote of RAM is reserved for OS...
Why - then - we all have different amounts of total RAM?
Mine also says 1258mb. SM-G800F rooted stock Rom
Well first of all, anything related to sizes in computer world is not exact since someone decided that 1mb is 1000kb not 1024kb. So if a device has example 1,5GB ram, it's never really exactly 1,5GB.
Then secondly the system reserves some amount of the ram to use, so a phone will never have 1,5GB free ram if it's marketed having 1,5GB ram.
Edit: Thirdly, you have to compare the ram usage to a same phone with same firmware, settings, apps and updates to get real information.

@leripe: It only applies to data storage devices, not ram.
RAM: 1.5Gb = 1536 Mb = 1572864kb = 1610612736b
DISK: "1.5Gb" ~ 1500000000b ~ 1464844kb ~ 1431Mb < 1,4Gb
But rest is right. Most of the ram is reserved for other hardware, ex GPU.

Storage speed 64GB vs 128GB

Is there any good comparison between the two models in terms of storage speed?
PS.: I know a therad about this topic already exists but it's not clear (a user with 64GB model got higher benchmark scores than another user with 128GB model)
I asked a similar question before getting my phone and the speed should be the same. The only difference is the space obviously. If there is a difference in performance it's probably negligible.
Larger SSD's usually have better speeds, for whatever reasons. The 128GB might be slightly better, or on par.
Hi,
For what it is worth:

From users, I searched a bit more but nothing more on my side...
Source: https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3t/help/storage-benchmark-64gb-vs-128gb-t3506137 (maybe it's the thread that the OP refers but without posting a link so maybe it could be useful...), need some more accurate benches...
I was refering to that thread and it makes no sense that the 64GB model is faster
Well, I know flash memory is different than a standard HDD... I was going to say the reason that it might be a little slower is because there is more space to cover so it takes longer to read/write data, but technically it shouldn't matter with flash memory. Honestly I'm not sure, but my guess is every phone will get a little different benchmarks. Nonetheless the phone is very fast and responsive, so you shouldn't need to worry.

Might be, or better should be matter of measurement accuracy.
Speaks for the high quality of the 64GB.

ROM Issue on Mi A2 (Updated)

Hey guys!
Many of you guys know about Mi A2's Memory problem. It's about Write and Read speed of Rom.
I tried everything. Sometimes its good but most often its bad like hell. Writing speed is about 30 MB/s.
I tried to reflash stock ROM and install clean so I got a better result. About 235 MB/s... After few days of using again... 30 MB/s
Idk what's wrong exactly. Xiaomi pulled back both updates of August and September. so I think there are some major issues.
And I am sure that there is two model of eMMc memory for A2. And I hope that this problem just goes for software.
This bug or issue cause many lags and freezes. Many people have the problem with flashing Roms with fastboot in Mi A2 too. I think this can be ROMs issue too. I tried to flash via fastboot with adb or with Xiaomi flash tool but both were unsuccessful due to an unknown issue. I tried them on 3 computer with over 16 GB of ram so it's not my computers problem.
We just need Xiaomi talk clearly about this problem. It's not a small one
I just want to know if our phones have the hardware problem or no
Update: At the 22 of October, we created an issue tracker for google devs, And they are investigating the problem. If u have the problem too, pls go to the button link and star the issue:
https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/118036531
Update: ( 24.10)
Google admin:
We have passed this to the development team and will update this issue with more information as it becomes available.
that's right, it's a common problem on this cell phone, we hope that with the October update it will be resolved as more and more complaints
ye
Let's see some screenshot
Many Beta testers in India MIUI forum believe that its just my problem and they haven't any problem with ROM speed
I can confirm this. What's promising that speeds are good on freshly installed system. So it can mean that this is something with the software, not hardware.

Exactly. When i install fresh rom, there is no problem. both speeds are about 200 MB/s. But after few days... Its like hell and it cause some lag and bad response on touch
Maybe someone who has installed MIUI version on Mi A2 can do the tests, because MIUI doesn't have two partition system, so we can see if there is difference there.
And how are the Mi 6x 64/4 test speeds ?
Because it is the same hw on this phones, we can know is it software or hw issue.
Been using my a2 for a monthish now. Idk what people are complaining about.

I think the ram management on the a2 is horrendous. I usually have less than a gb free. Where as on my old phone (p9 lite 3gb ram) I had 1.5gb free no matter what.

I wonder why people think more free ram is better. Ram is there to be used and empty ram is wasted ram. Do you have any issues with apps closing unexpectedly? If not ram management is good actually.

So I was downloading the new update while browsing XDA. The phone kept freezing up so I checked cpuz.. had about 150mb free of ram. I don't think that downloading an update takes that much ram.

90MB/s writing is not good really. It must be about 200 at least. But it's not about speed. it's about instability. Try to run that benchmark again. Then try to use ur phone...
Just a question. Since this happens after some use, it could just be that memory isn't being trimmed (properly).
Could you trim the memory and do a benchmark then?
You can trim it via terminal or using the Trimmer app from the play store. Root needed for this.

It is negligeable thing and ignore please.
Like the previous fellow posters said, some RAM is reserved for OS/hardware interaction. CPU-Z reads the user RAM.
