Magisk on Redmi note8, possible ? (Trying to get ARCore Working) - Xiaomi Redmi 8 Questions & Answers

Hello!
So as the title says ive got my self a note8 from xiaomi but ArCore is not officially supported, all my unity samples just crash on load. My friends Xiaomi 9 runs them fine. I read on Github Magisk modules may help me fix this and get AR working on this device, i wanted to take to XDA to ask for more help on this / discussion, would flashing allow my Redmi to use AR properly ? im currently on the chinese rom and im sure a flash to global might also fix the GPS and unlock a few other features but if AR works id be more motivated to do it.
Thank you

Question - Blackshark 2 stock android on Mi 9 ?

Hi all,
As the name says - Xiaomi BlackShark 2 is SD855 device which has been recently released. It sports stock android pie in order to help further improve performance of the device.
Has anyone tried to flash its rom to Mi 9?
Please just thoughts and/or experiences - no need to debate if Mi 9 needs this or not.
I would love to try myself but I still dont have the device.
Thanks!

Furthermore to this - checked the Black Shark 2 section at XDA. All screenshots indicate AOSP based rom, and specifically its Global version does not contain any junk inside...

This is very interesting and theoretically it should be quite viable since same SOC and probably same fingerprint sensor. But not same camera so maybe camera might have issues.
But otherwise seems like a nice idea

I'm interested also in Pixel Experience, we can try the GSI but it haven't received any updates since the last month. And for gcam, you can try any Mi 9T version, the camera modules are exactly the same

Camera modules are the same, but camera lib's are different ( cc9 doesn't have support for full buffer 3 )

Not that I know of.
The OEM software works fine though.
I installed one - think it's a generic one for redmi phones. It's a bit hinky, but it kinda works. Until there's a specific version, I'll just use the stock app.
Have you guys found a working GCam apk? I have tested some from Celsoazevedo but every single one I have installed is not working with MediaTek.

Hi @cjlabang, please note that there already exists a GCam related thread. Kindly continue the discussion in the same. This thread will be locked.

Question How to install Xiaomi Cam

Hey there hello
So I've been playing around with custom roms for a 1.5 year. I think I have enough experience and now I'm starting to get interested in mods and ports
Idk much about that and I just want to start asking how do I install the Xiaomi stock camera app in my Redmi Note 10 Pro with a custom ROM installed on it.
Also if anyone can explain me what does been "ported" mean thanks

May a ROM developer can help you.
But it's really difficult to get MIUI cam working in non MIUI Roms.....

Ported/Porting/Ports means a specific software that only works on selected devices and giving it support to work for other devices.
In the case of your question, Xiaomi Cam, or MIUI Cam, is the default camera application for Xiaomi devices tunes by Xiaomi themselves and only works for Xiaomi devices, with specific features for each devices.
ANX Camera is the port of MIUI Camera that works for Custom ROM and some non-miui based OS. ANX is a Magisk Module too meaning you'll have to root your phone to install systemlessly. Link to the download:
ANXCamera by AEonAX
Download latest ANXCamera, A Miui Camera Port for Xiaomi's Devices, Install via Magisk or TWRP

I recommend you to use v204 even though it's an alpha release to get the closest camera quality similar to stock. If that doesn't work, try the stable release which are 190R or 185R.

Has anyone installed Redmi 9 Lancelot Official Lineage OS rom on redmi 9 lava

right now i have redmi 9 lava (3/32) and seeing the new redmi 9 lancelot official rom i wonder if it will work on my phone without problems. Has anyone tried it?
I have the 4Gb RAM version and LOS 20 works fine although its using up to 2.8Gb RAM. Personally I wouldn't run Android 13 aka LOS 20 on a 3Gb RAM phone. I actually wish I got the 6Gb RAM version.

I currently have the pixel experience rom installed and it definitely runs much better than stock. You didn't encounter any problem with the installation, did you? Also if you have any problem I would like to hear it. Thank you very much my friend for the reply!
In addition, updates are done normally?
Yes there is weekly OTA updates. Also yes LOS 20 runs much better than stock, faster and uses less ram, on stock miui 13 Android 12 I couldn't even run two apps at the same time such as Outlook and Chrome. As for installation you need MIUI 13 Android 12, the latest stock rom, otherwise LOS 20 won't work, I believe it will bootloop. I just followed the instructions on LOS website, didn't have any problem.
Also I used the default LOS recovery instead of TWRP as TWRP isn't updated anymore and I wasn't sure if it will work. You need to unlock bootloader using Xiaomi app or a script from here Xda if you don't want to wait several days for the Xiaomi app unlock as there is a waiting timer, idk why Xiaomi did this.
you have me completely covered. I have done this process many times and know what to do, thanks for the advice anyway. You sure have the "lava" version right? Because you mentioned above that you wanted to buy the version with the 6gb ram which is only available in the Lancelot version and I would like to be sure

ok thank you again.
With a little research I had done, I believed that the LOS rom was not exactly designed for my phone but for another version (there are roms that say it's for the lava version and roms that say it's for the Lancelot version). I'll try to install it soon and hopefully I won't have any problems. Thank you very much

In cpuz under model it says Lineage_lancelot.
okay okay anyway thank you very much for your help
