[guide] fix the bootloop. - Samsung Galaxy A50s Guides, News, & Discussion

so we have already known that our man, @redymedan, tutorial you guys to root your beloved phone A50s by Magisk via patch the version 19.3.
well, that's sad.
but that ends today.
how to do it? simple.
first, do as the man told you: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-a50s/how-to/guide-root-galaxy-a50s-magisk-v19-3-t4001271
setup your phone and bla bla bla
next, install the Franco Kernel Manager (FKM for short).
find it or buy it to support the developers. dont "warez". i dont want to get in troubles.
install the dm-verity .zip disabler, dm-verity cause your phone to bootloop when install the new version.
visit and install .zip files here https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/universal-dm-verity-forceencrypt-t3817389
go to FKM, choose the "three lines", go to Flasher, pick Manual Flasher, choose the .zip you just installed.
now, wait for it to flash
after it flashed, go the Magisk Manager to reboot the phone, dont reboot it by physical volumes buttons, or else you will lose root. (if it occured, power off your phone, hold both volume up and power buttons when you reboot it)
since things been all set again, update to new version and enjoy
all test on SM-A507FN/DS (android 9), pls test on android Q for me to see if it works.
i know, my english is bad.

Hi bro, it difficult to do this on Android 10, as we know there is no TWRP for A50s and I have tested patched magisk and got bootlooping, So it's not possible to get root access.. to install dm-verity.zip. To run FKM it needs root access.

hello, the device you're mentioned is A50, not A50s. please go to A50 thread to have some help.
make sure you do all the things in tutorial here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5VJdXmC-hg
if you bootloop, do thishttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFwf0NADHTQ
and flash all the things are required, or else your device will not work properly.

I do same process that you provide me in 2nd link
but Still i got Bootloop
My Androide veesion is 9.0

Magisk General Support / Discussion

This is the place for general support and discussion regarding "Public Releases", which includes both stable and beta releases.
All information, including troubleshoot guides and notes, are in the Announcement Thread
Oh wowww. Thanks!!
Error in the thread title: 2015.8.4
Yay it's finally here!
I'm already using it and I must say it works fine
Man, this "universal MultiROM support" left me full of hope. I hope it works out. And it was time for a mods manager on Android, thanks topjohnwu
Working great on my N6!
topjohnwu has my vote for President!
(and a well deserved donation)
AMAZING!, now to be sure, if i have a rom and want to integrate Magisk, the correct order of flashing is:
1-rom
2-magisk
3-modded su (magisk compatible)
it's that the way?
topjohnwu said:
....Magisk Is A Magic Mask to Alter System Systemless-ly.
If you are running custom roms, dirty flash the rom again to remove all possible issues. If the rom includes SuperSU, unzip the boot image from the rom zip, and flash it through TWRP, flashify, fastboot etc. to restore to stock ramdisk......
....... you can now download Magisk and flash to your device.
To remove Magisk, restore your boot image back (Magisk will backup your boot image automatically in /data/stock_boot(md5).img.gz), then delete /data/magisk.img.

is the following still applicable in the case of custom roms?
smohanv said:
1. Boot in to TWRP
2. go to Advanced / File Manager and delete folder named supersu
3. go to Advanced / Terminal and enter these two commandsecho SYSTEMLESS=true>>/data/.supersu
echo BINDSYSTEMXBIN=false>>/data/.supersuThe first one forces systemless, the second prevents /su/xbin_bind from existing.4. Flashed Beta SuperSu 2.74-2 (we can notice while flashing this zip after the above script, we will not see the line saying "Disabling OTA". Also, end of flashing it warns that it takes longer time to boot.
5. Reboot device and enjoy systemless
6. To check if we have achieved systemless root, go to system/xbin folder and we should not see the file named "su".
7. I rebooted in to TWRP and flashed xposed 85.1 (also updated with 85.2 later) and installed the apk (Material design apk from this thread)
8. All done and my xposed works.....

Sure you probably did something wrong.
For starters you gave way to little information.
Did you follow the procedure from the OP exactly ?
What rom do you have, custom recovery if any, custom kernel if any ?
How did you flash ?
Come on people give this information by yourself please, don't let us pull it out of you everytime.
You know you are the one needing help than please try to give detailed information about your problem.

Did you flash phh's root zip from this thread's Downloads section or from original phh's thread? If the latter, then that's probably the culprit.

@topjohnwu this new "magisk" method. It doesn't allow Android Pay to work on custom roms like CyanogenMod does it? If I remove SU from CyanogenMod and use your root.
Magisk on (Yu Yureka) ARM64 device
i did a full clean wipe and then flashed rom, magisk and 'Magisk Compatible phh's SuperUser' - in that order. magisk manager app does not open.
Holy crap.. everything universal with support for extensions. This platform could be the beginning of a new era in mods. @topjohnwu amazing work. Don't want to be rude, but personally I think the name of the project is not as awesome as the project itself. "Magisk" sounds a bit cheesy.. :silly:
great work, will try it out soon! one little thing i noticed in the thread title...i guess it should be 2016

Correct me if I m wrong, I think what Ideveraux wish to say is that:
1. this is a community forum instead of a customer service site. We are all beneficiaries of SuperSU, not consumers who are somewhat righteous to make demands.
2. I understand you don't mean it, but your first post does feel like how a boss address demand a portfolio from his employeee. In this community, you would get much more welcome if you start a request with "can I ", " may I" and "please".
But still, CF does check this forum regularly and maybe your phone model will be included in his next CF-Auto-tool update. Stay tuned

First you have to Flash TWRP recovery. CWM recovery doesn't work with j210f till date. Then you have to flash TWRP using odin. Then finally install root from TWRP. I have all the files and i explain to you step wise if you are really interested. IT doesn't take more than 5 or 6 minutes to do the whole process once you have all the files ready.

In case you are already using TWRP, then ask a specific question.

Hello, I have successfully rooted and installed twrp on my Samsung sm-j210f, SDK23 ArmV71. Everything was proper but when I opened xposed installer it said me to update/ install to latest version which is 88.2. When I clicked on update it downloaded a file. And when I clicked on install it gave a pop up to install via recovery or not so I clicked on install via recovery and then my phone booted into twrp recovery mode and it automatically installed xposed framework and restarted device and while starting my device stucked in bootloop. I luckily had xposed uninstaller downloaded. So I uninstalled it and started my device and tried installing xposed framework again but no lucks, it didn't worked. Where else on my another phone which is moto g4 plus, when I rooted it and opened xposed installer it said xposed framework version 88.2 is active. But on my samsung j5 2016(sm-j210f, SDK23 ArmV71) there was an orange colored error which said xposed framework version 87 is installed but not active. Please check logs for more details. Please help. Your any suggestion would be helpful. Thank you:fingers-crossed:

Bootloader lock or hide

Hi,
I hope somebody can give me a hint.
I just got a used p20 pro with open bootloader but stock rom.
Unfortunately the Google security check has some "problems" with this situation and doesn't allow me to use several apps like Netflix, Google pay, etc.
So I'm looking for a way to easily fix this problem, the phone will be used by my parents.
Either lock the bootloader or "hide" it probably.
But how - I don't have the bootloader code - and I'm not too much into android rooting...
Usefull hints are appreciated.
Merry xmas
Mounty
You're on thin ice my pedigree chum..
Avoid flashing anything that would allow a block of any kind which is an absolute reality.
Having used absolutely every ROM and OS from 8.1 to 10
My advice. Flash AOSIP and then ask in thread to get safety net working.
Literally nothing else it worth your time.
Unless you're strange and like EMUI.
In such case, stuck with stock.
Just be aware you're in a position that a lot of people would kill for.
Google have done some **** stuff to make people who have unlocked bootloader a nightmare. I don't think there is a way to hide it unless you use Magisk

If they are not some kind of advanced users, unlocked bootloader has exactly 0 added value for them. Search the forum for flushing methods, the ones that will warn you that this method re-locks the bootloader, flush the latest stock ROM for your region and live a happy and calm life.
As a suggestion.. Use Magisk with Safety patch and you're done. You can keep the bootloader unlocked and still bypass google restrictions. (Install apps like netflix, etc.)
My phone is on 9.0.1.328 and works fine.

Thx so far, I think I'll try the magisk thing.
Are there any downsides on this? Will Ota updates still work?
I already downloaded and installed magisk manager, but I was not able to install magisk via magisk manager.
I downloaded the zip file and tried to install it.
But I only got the attached error.
I think I have to patch something?!
Any advise?

You need to patch the ramdisk recovery file with magisk, flash it and you are good to go. It's a 5 min procedure. Let me know if you need more help with that.
This way you will hide your unlocked bootloader and you will pass safetynet.
Only downside is that if there is an ota update you will need to flash the original ramdisk recovery, do the ota and then do ramdisk recovery file patch again.
If you lock the bootloader then you won't be able to unlock it again as you won't have the code (unless you got the code from the previous owner too).

Hi,
thx for your offer/advise. I’ll try this way - it sounds most promising to me.
Can I do this on the mobile only, or do I need a pc?
Where / How do I find the ramdisk recovery?
BL Lock
I can lock (yes, lock) your bootloader for free.
Contact me at Telegram (@AntiEngineer), you don't need to open up your device.

Cannot install Magisk

Hello,
I have a One Plus 5 with a Custom AOSP Rom 11.0 and TWRP 3.4.0.1 and I'm trying to install Magisk like it's explained here.
But whatever I try - it does not work.
When I flash it via TWRP it says everything went well, but in the end my Magisk Manager does not have the "green ticks" and my apps say I have no root access.
I also tried this with my current ROM but there is an error. I'll attach all logs and files in case it's helpful.
Thank you very much.
Edit:
I was now able to create a flashed boot.img file, but when I flash that it always boots into the bootloader and cannot boot my phone anymore normally anymore.
Quite simple... Magisk v20.4 isn't compatible with Android 11. Currently you need to switch to the beta update channel if you want root on A11.

General [IMG] Boot + magisk patched boot images

Hi, I have decided to gather boot images and magisk patched images to one thread for now. I will try to edit this thread to be up-to-date. You can let me know what could you want next or if anything is wrong etc.
Stock boot.img files (direct links):
EU NE2213_11_A.12
Stock boot.img - link
EU NE2213_11_A.10
Stock boot.img - link
Magisk patched boot.img are here a file that can be downloaded (I am using magisk canary usually, but in Magisk, you can change the channel from the canary to stable etc.) - names as the versions come.
Below this there are those magisk patched files which you just flash (or boot and then flash directly from the Magisk app) via fastboot

Apparently not. I have patched that stock boot via magisk, then via fastboot boot <patchedimage.img> booted (and also tested if it actually boots) and when it booted, via magisk app I did "Direct install (recommended)", rebooted and done.
Oh okay you had a temporary boot we that's good to know well it works that's the most important thing ain't it
Noob question I been on locked bootloader for years so haven't been in the root scene, but I have US model NE2215 I'm guessing I need to wait for the firmware to be available to get the boot img? Did I just got my phone too early? Already oem unlocked now just waiting for twrp and root info. I always wanted a OnePlus phone because the community is big, but doesn't seem like much people upgraded from 9 pro.

That's not that you have it early. The phone itself is early in spite of rooting and doing things like rooting, custom recoveries, ROMs etc. I currently can't find boot img for your model, but once I do, I will post it here for you with patched one.

You should wipe the phone and start all over or else you won't be able to take ota updates. Never flash the patched boot image since you bypass the magisk backup feature. You have to wait for the full update package to update if you flash the boot. Ppl have previously had update issues after flashing.

You have to wait for the full update package to update if you flash the boot. Ppl have previously had update issues after flashing.

Wiped the phone already, what difference would it make if i remove root or flash stock boot then flash ota and reflash boot?

Not sure what else magisk does during the backup process, but doing what you’re describing didn’t work for users on 8T and they usually ended up soft bricking. Everyone who flashed it vice installing from magisk app had to wait for op to post the full rom or for someone to post a repacked fastboot rom to update.
You do what you need to do, I’m just giving you some experience and recommendations since you just wiped and flashed the boot.

Interesting.
I moved over from ColorOS to oxygen OS, wiped the device then just booted a patched boot img, and installed direct.
I assume I flash ota and go onto magisk and do inactive slot? Where does the issue lie what method should I have gone down?

Hmmm. Well you should be fine if you patched the boot and let magisk do the install. I only suggested wiping since you said you flashed the img from the bootloader.
You might run into the same problem I have with the 9RT. I too upgraded from color to oos and couldn’t update at all, even though I rooted from the magisk app. I had to wait for someone to make a fastboot rom. I had no problems updating color following my method, but not oos after switching. Hopefully that’s not the case for you.
