No more OpenKirin builds for EMUI 8 devices?

I wait for sometime now (4 months) to see at least a beta stage rom for EMUI 8 - Based Builds from OpenKirin Project, the last build is the 5.2 alpha of the OMNI ROM.
Sadly, I see that all the attention is shifted to the EMUI 9 - Based Builds, no more updates for our beloved P9.
It will be a great deal to see Resurrection Remix OS 7.0.1 Beta 1 builded for EMUI 8 - Based Builds.
Could someone from the contributors, maybe @surdu_petru share some more info, is this project dead for EMUI 8, we will ever see some updates in the near future?
I know that is not indicated to ask for ETA, but it will be a great info so we know if we need to wait a little bit more time or move forward.
Thanks to all team members for the OpenKirin Project!

Yes this is true as they appear from almost a long time did not issue or update for emui 8 They may seem disappointed with us , According to openkirin Now they focus on emui 9 , Also at the same time they say there are releases or updates for emui 8 .
At least if they released their hi3650 patches we would be able to make our own GSIs...
Seems that we are one more time skipped...
OpenKirin Project released EMUI 9-based Build of OmniROM Beta 5 but no EMUI 8-based Build.
@OldDroid , @XePeleato , @surdu_petru , @irony_delerium can you please tell us if we will see any EMUI 8-based Builds or the project goes forward only with EMUI 9-based Build?
@Wattsensi Bro of which developer's lineage 16 are you using and do it require any patch to boot?
I see some launches on https://openkirin.net/download/ for the EMUI 9 devices AEX Beta 1 P1.
For the EMUI 8 devices nothing, no love at all?
I would love to see android 10 running on this device, it's the last in line Dual SIM Full Active, and this is what I love most on this device, also the smaller screen, I don't like the current sizes (way too big for my pockets).

I was using AndyYan LineageOS but install the one that appears here instead, it's much better despite having some issues with headphone jack sound not switching automatically. It has fully functional Camera, NFC, Bluetooth and mobile network. If you can use a manual sound switcher for now you can use it right now, just flash and go. One thing though, this ROM uses MicroG and Aurora Store instead of Gapps, if you don't mind about giving up gapps. Safetynet passing is not guaranteed. AOSP Camera works perfect.
I'm confident the issues above will be solved by the developer with enough time and people sending dmesg logs of their problems.

Nice! I'll still stay on the MicroG rom though, but it is indeed a better base than Omni even though it is less customizable.
LineageOS 16.0 Build 2 Released April 15, 2020 , with play store installer. replace huawei camera with "huawei-generic-google-camera" for huawei devices and working perfect!
[ROM][Treble][microG]LineageOS 16.0 for HUAWEI P9 is more optimized but microG not well for me and playstore it cannot be installed ( error )

Android 11 for lilac and further development

Hi developers.
I has stolen my lilac but i want to know about further development plan for this device, if is worthy to buy it again primary for testing roms, learning to code cause they are plenty and running new android 10 but still have restrictive bugs like not working lockscreen, battery drain or lower touchscreen sensitivity, except HavocOS.
And how it will be with Android 11?
It's still too early to tell what things will look like with Android 11. Sony only just officially released the A11 binaries for the XZ1C, so development is possible and likely. But we'll just have to wait and see
https://www.xda-developers.com/sony...-guide-and-binaries-for-select-xperia-phones/
I have A11 working on my xz1c, however it seems finicky to boot. Tried to install gapps on it but have not found a way.
Havoc OS (Official) has plans to update Lilac to Android 11 with it's next update. Last version of Android 10 was just released today

Question Lineage OS

Just a question for the future. Are there custom roms like Lineage OS coming for Mi 11 Ultra?
Probably just a matter of time....
It's available for most of the earlier devices already: https://www.cyanogenmods.org/lineageos-18-mi-10-pro/
I don't think it will show up anytime soon...
When I got MiNote10, it was one of few phones with new 108MP camera sensor, developers had bad time trying to find drivers, or do anything to be able to use camera, as Xiaomi release only part of source code for this phone. As for now, there is no official LOS for MiNote10, just UNOFFICIAL, and the phone was released around November 2019 ?
MI11 Ultra also have new camera sensor GN2, display on the back, new chipset, I wish to see LOS or other custom ROM, but I know how hard is to build custom ROM for new hardware if you don't have drivers/source code.. Only hope in Xiaomi if they release complete source code needed to build ROM.
We'll have to wait for the popularity of this phone to go up first. Might take a while. But with miui12.5 being the crap fest that it is right now... I hope we don't have to wait too long for an aosp based ROM to come out
I would voluteer for testing... anything is better than this miui crap. So, anyone, please DM me, if you need a tester.
And put TWRP on the list. I might suffer from a good old fashioned paranoia, but kind if don't trust the current distributions of TWRP for the MI11U.

Question Will the custom rom developers abandon the Android 12 roms like they did with 11?

I got the RM Note 10 Pro when it was brandnew and just wanted a stable custom rom. I installed and used Arrow OS with Android 11 and was satisfied with it. But then the team and apparently all the other teams stopped supporting and updating those roms and moved on to Android 12 projects. So like 2 month ago I moved on to Lineage 12.1 so I could have a rom that keeps getting updates and support. I don't really like changing roms and transferring everything to the phone that I had before and having to figure out certain things that work differently on the new versions. Now I am seeing Android 13 roms popping out in the forums and I am concerned that thosed based on Android 12 will also stop getting updates and support and force me to change to a Rom with 13. Will the 12 roms keep getting updates at least for a while longer? I would prefer staying on 12.1 for a while

When Xiaomi stops updating an android version, developers must also follow to continue the development of their rom.
Nothing prevents you from staying in A12, security will be and will remain on the date of the last rom in A12.
Xiaomi for some time has preferred to sell phones rather than provide bug-free roms before moving on to another newer android version.
For example, the beta stables are updated via OTA but it is just indicated Stable on the phone, moreover for some phones the beta stables are just renamed stable later when it is exactly the same rom without bug fixes.
For me the A12 Aosp roms are crude and ugly only reason that makes me stay on MIUI but I am from the old school.

The right answer for this is: depends on the resources that community have to preserve the older build. I'm talking about people and hardware. If there's none, they have to move forward to newer one and ditch the older. Why Lineage could support several versions android because they have resources to do so. Most don't have that luxury.
Yes, most custom Android 12 ROMs should be abandoned in the next 2-3 months. Some devs may keep updating 12 if they aren't confident in 13, but that's a bit rare. If you are on a stable Android ROM, stick with that for a year or so even if it means no updates. I plan to upgrade to Android 12 now, have been on Android 11, and when Android 14 comes out, I'll upgrade to Android 13. You might be able to do an in-place upgrade to Android 13 rather than clean installing, if you are lucky.

I am on the same boat. Was running LOS 18.1 happily on Oneplus. Then purchased Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro and sh*t started. No official Lineage so started research. Found Arrow to be close. Official and vanilla.
The A11 development was already gone so went with A12 as a future proof option (as I thought). They killed it quick and went 12L. I flashed A12L but after a short while they quit that and went A13. I did not even started to think about swap and they are at A13.1 that I read have bugs.
I wish that development power went in the same direction but no, there are tons of custom ROMs for 'sweet' but I couldn't find stable and polished one. Started to regret that I got a device that is not supported by LOS.
When I got my Note 10 pro last year, I also wanted a device with LineageOS support. But this was the best hardware I could find inexpensively that seemed like it had a lot of development interest, so it's what I went with.
I tried some custom ROMs when I first got it, but was disappointed and went with xiaomi.eu for a long time instead. It's only recently that LineageOS has become available, though it's not official.
