Manual update failed. WW firmware and Fingerprint - ASUS ROG Phone II Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I have downloaded UL-ASUS_I001_1-ASUS-17.0210.2001.60-1.1.97-user.zip from the Asus website and placed the file at the root of the disk. Reboot and I'm getting notified there is an update, click update and it informs me the update failed straight away. Both the firmware and fingerprint have been flashed to WW. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do it manually with the RAW version...
I'm in A10 stable but with high consumption of Google Services. I will reflash for clean install...
Edit: did it and it was more or less the same. But it seemed to be something related to MagiskHide. I hided in Magiskhide com.android.blablablablalbal.unstable (just that) and it was fine

I am already on WW Rom and fingerprint WW too but safety net fails
Hi Team,
I just bought ROG 2 tencent and it came loaded with WW rom and WW fingerprint as details below.
Issue- it Passed safety net and everything works fine including netflix, youtube.
Question: is there anything need to do before manually updating to A10 ?

Fingerprint: asus/ww_I001D/ ASUS_I001_1:9/PKQ1. 190414.00116.0631.1910.44-0

1. I did a factory reset. From TWRP in my case, but in original recovery you can do it too.
2. Download the RAW file in the PC
3. Enter in Fastboot mode, conect the cable to the pc and launch the command 'xxxxx_AFT' or something like that (I don't remember the name)
4. Just wait and wait and wait. Some minutes later you will have everything ready.

Can't update to WW1908 from WW1907

On PKQ1.19041.001.WW_Phone-16.0622.1907.33-0
Copied this file ( UL-ASUS_I001_1-ASUS-16.0631.1908.12-1.1.3-user.zip ) from ASUS update server to my ASUS phone to the root folder (internal storage) it sees the file and I get a message saying that my phone can be updated. But when I click ok to upgrade, it fails.
Anyone try this and successful? Any ideas what the heck I am missing here?!
TY
Maybe corrupted download? Try downloading again.
I had a corrupted download and ended up bricking my phone. Had to flash the Raw 1906 then incrementally update to 1908

Let me download it again. Hope it works. If this does work, I will feel a lot better about updating my awesome phone in the future. Coming from Samsung on AT&T hopefully ASUS keeps the updates fairly regular.
Nope, still not working. Oh well, guess I can wait for the raw version.
But if anyone has any ideas on what I am missing, please chime in.

If you haven't changed the fingerprint to WW yet, the OTA file will be recognized and fail. Change fingerprint and you should be good

It's not a physical fingerprint, it's how the phone identifies itself. Follow this guide: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ro...w-rom-changing-cn-fingerprint-t3969765/page12

you probably got a Chinese 8gb version with flashed WW firmware, which means no OTA anymore. You gotta flash manually after unlocking the bootloader, rooting and so on.

I'm on 1906 ww. I understand this phone needs a manual flash each time, do I need to flash with every update using raw files and will this also wipe the phone so every update means a wipe?
Can I root, install twrp and simply update the firmware no issue or is it bs?
How do I actually manually update to this? When I hold down on the options button and choose "more options", it still only says Auto-Download System Update
Do I need to flash through fastboot?
Edit: Nevermind, I restarted my phone and it gave me a pop up saying it sees the update

Interesting wording. If you mean that you can now toggle OEM unlocking on, then unlocking the bootloader with fastboot is the same no matter what device you have.

Like @p70shooter said. There is no other way to root besides magisk, and there is no TWRP as of yet. If rooting with 20.2 didn't work, then try 20.1. You can find it here :good: https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases

Just a little FYI for you my friend. Have you downloaded the factory image coinciding with your current build? If not, then do so, then extract the factory image, then extract the image.zip, then pull the boot.img from there, place it on your phones internal storage, then try to patch it with magisk. I just did it myself with the 20.2 stable version and it worked fine :good:

How to flash Android 12 beta

The Android 12 beta ROM comes in the form of a .tgz extension, commonly referred to as a Fastboot ROM. To flash this ROM, you also need to have a Windows PC and phone with an unlocked bootloader. Instructions to unlock the bootloader of your phone can be found on your device’s subforums on XDA.
To flash the downloaded file, follow the instructions below:
Download the MiFlash Tool on your PC that can be found here. After downloading, extract the tool and install it. It is also advised to have ADB and Fastboot installed.
Reboot your phone into Download mode by powering it off and then pressing both the Power and Volume Down buttons together.
Connect your phone to the computer using the USB cable.
Download the Fastboot ROM .tgz file and extract it and make sure you remember the extract location, as you will need to paste the address into MiFlash Tool. Make sure there are no spaces in the extract location path.
Run MiFlash Tool on your PC and in the address bar within the tool, paste the extract location from Step 4.
Click “Refresh” within MiFlash and the app should automatically recognize your device.
Click “Run” within MiFlash to flash the ROM file to the device.
The progress bar within MiFlash will turn green, which indicates that the ROM was successfully installed. Your device should boot automatically to the new version.

Yes, the camera works and the Google services are working fine but this build is for testing , not to use daily, for most people I would advise to wait longer
You might have issues with third party apps that haven't been optimised yet for Android 12 etc

I think you can flash anything these days, if it doesn't work for any reason you can go back, there's unbrick and rollback fix on YouTube
You just have to delete about 8 lines of code and then you can flash backwards as well as forwards

There is no miui apps if those are important to you, its not ready for grandma yet!

Not worth it yet for most people imo

You're totally wrong. You can't have OTA updates but manually downloading rom and placing in storage root folder will update your phone just fine. There is no other issue with phone other than OTA.

Question [NE2215] OxygenOs 13 C.19 (After OTA Issues)

Before updating android i read that there could be some bugs despite being a stable rom. however, what is happening with my device is that it is apparently not charging.
Yesterday it was at 30% battery... When I tried some things with fastboot enhance, it showed up with 79%. That is, maybe it is loading, but the system is not recognizing it.
Is there any solution for this? Or would I have to go back to android 12?

You mean from settings, right? Didnt work too :/
Okay, I'll explain from the beginning. I was on rom 11 c.16 and had root access.
I unrooted completely and flashed the new C.19 version. I don't remember if I reset the device before putting the new version... After I updated, I rooted it again correctly...
(i downloaded full version c.19 by oxygen update app and flashed it by fastboot enhance)
I didn't realize it at the time, but I believe that since I updated the cell it didn't appear that it was charging anymore.
Finally, I was trying to go back to the previous rom (Hopefully that would solve it)... Following the steps in fastboot enhance... as soon as I clicked on reboot to fastboot, the device entered the mode and appeared with the battery at 79% whereas it was at 30%.
Since then I tried to reset through recovery mode and via OS as well but none of them worked.

Ok so avoid fastboot enhance. You really don't need that..
Rollback to 12 with the local APK and relevant rollback package..then update, then wipe, then root.
No idea why it's happened but it seems quite fixable and almost certainly something to do with the base change from 12 to 13.

From what I've seen the NA and Global versions work equally. Wait for it to finish now and see what happens
This is now the NA version of Rollback
The title of the thread is 2215 which is the NA version, the Global misnomer comes from one of their own posts though iirc.
@Diguinho76 The NA rollback full zip is your best bet right now.
