Android system is consuming much more battery after v11.0.3.0 update - Redmi Note 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

After i updated my RN8 to miui v11.0.3.0 the battery backup has gone significantly worse. Seems like Xiaomi deliberately reduces the battery backup after each update. It was best in v10 and has only gone worse with each subsequent updates.
Also if anyone could, please go to your RN8's settings>Apps>manage apps> click on three dots on the top right corner>'show all apps'> now search for"Android system" and click on it. Check whether the blur app preview is enabled or disabled by default for "Android system". Share the screenshot (if you can) or otherwise just comment. Please do answer. Thanks

I totally agree with you as someone who doesn't use his phone often the battery could last for 2 days without charging and when I put the phone in charge the battery always more the 20% now it last one day and half I must put it in charge after getting many warning
I found that the blur app preview is enabled

Is there any information on how to throttle the CPU down for people who dont play games?

[Q] New Kies update details please

I have hunted for details of the new XXLT9 update and can find virtually nothing. We have 2 notes running LSO/LSZ very well indeed with good battery life and little lag and wonder what the total benefits/losses are of the new update. If it helps any one. I put our good battery life down to this, (phones have never been rooted by the way.) disable all unused/undesired apps.. yahoo etc, but clear each unwanted programs cache and data first then take the green tick out and only then disable. Even all the other programs you use take the green ticks out except chaton / messages /email and any other necessary priority app, I mean literally go through every app and take out the green tick unless its needed then set email to manual sync unless your a business, set the screen mode to the lowest brightness setting acceptable to you, then put power saving on in the task bar set screen time out to 15 secs unless your doing something special and turn brightness down as low as you find you can.I have just 27 good apps on mine (green ticks are out.). I have mentioned disabling for another reason as well, I noticed with the last maps and the play services updates that you cannot disable them or take the ticks out and I'll be surprised if I'm the only one out of millions who disables these, I mean why if you you use maps once or nonce a day should you leave it spying on you and using your data all day reporting back to google and taking up ram but I'm thinking the new update XXLT9 will have all the latest google versions baked in so people can't uninstall the updates back to the version they can disable, if this turns out to be the only reason ,thinly veiled by some little unworthy treat I'll stay put, but if theres any good new features/benefits it would be good if some one could share.
Thank you.

What are those apps named 1020 and 1021 ?

While i was checkng my 4g data usage on my huawei p9, i saw these two apps. But i cant see them in applications menu. What are those? Do your devices also have them?
nope.
What version of OS you have? it is branded by operator? any customization you had on it?

No, not branded. i am on L09C636B134 and running androig 6.0. with emui 4.1 and no other customization.
hard to tell, cant find any specific info about such apps in Huawei devices. And I never saw such apps in other Android devices that I have.
One post on some forum mentioned wakelock process, but it was about "10121"
Did you check system processes in App section of settings?
And permissions section?
Also do they take loots of data? Because maybe its just one of many process of SystemAndroid that contain actually lots of smaller sub-processes, and it just show as separate app...
Its actually good to spend those 5min in app section and turn off access to internet that doesnt really need internet(after selecting app, go to DataUsage section and disable all options)
And also enabling turning off apps after screen is off, in Battery Options.
Here are the screenshots. They are neither in "applications" nor in the "system process"
And i cant change their statuses because as you can see they are greyed out.
Please take a look :

Damn, I have no idea, maybe someone else with better knowledge of android, and especially EMUI system could say if such applications should exist and drain data.
But seeing amount of data it take I can say that its really suspicious behavior, not normal to system apps/processes.
As I see you have enabled data for those apps, so if you can, set All those options bellow to "Not Allowed". It should stop draining your data transfer.
If you cant change that(system gray out those options), and this data drain is annoying for you, I would suggest typical answer: try to update your phone to latest EMUI 5.0 or at least EMUI 4.1.1
I know its overkill for such situation, but way back in early days of Android I found out that reflashing/factory reset/update made few times, actually fix almost all problems -_-
Funny but true....

RUN GAMES AT 144 FPS! ( YES INCLUDING CODM AND PUBGM) Mi10T

So codm is default capped at 60 and doesnot support more than 60 fps whereas pubgm is capped at 90 max, but i found a way to run at 144 fps forcefully without altering any game files etc so no bans! I checked fps with multiple fps meters as well as recordings to see if frames dropped and they did when i recorded pubgm since it's an intensive game, recording with 90 fps doesn't give you frame drops but with 144 they drop to 137-139 depending on situation!
Set your display to 144HZ for this.
To enable, simply run your game codm or pubgm and go to cheer park or arena or in match anywhere in minimize the game/put in background (DON'T CLOSE IT!!), minimize your game/put in background and open settings, apps, manage apps, search for battery and performance and clear all it's data, then enable your in built fps meter or any fps meter you use and go back in game and voila, you yourself will feel the difference!! Especially in cod since it's capped max at 60 so when you do this frames will be 144 and you will see massive increase in fluidity which you do at 144 anyways, same with codm, play tdms and arenas and you'll notice your enemies bullets won't even register!!
uploaded some very short little clips of my recordings so you can see for yourself, guys check and tell <3

12.0.9 Global, didn't update phone as i have past experiences with xiaomi phones and they tend to slow down phone performance in updates, so have disabled auto updates and prolly won't update, if you have updated one do try this and tell, on mine and a couple of friends i have who own mi10t have done this and we get 137-144 fps, on smooth, on hd and hdr we get consistent 127-135 fps, with recording on they drop a further 4-5 frames but it's way way better than the 90 lol, i usually play at smooth so no issue for me even with recording on. i told this to a few tech youtubers and prolly this method's gonna go trendin soon haha since it's the first phone ever to achieve actual 144 fps xD And it's way WAY advantageous Your bullets register too fast and M416 spray feels like an uzi's spray xD I have shown in the attached clips and i have many more, go ahead give it a try
STEPS:
1) Set display to 144HZ
2) Open pubgm (as an example taking pubgm)
3) go to training or cheer park or anything
4) minimize the game (DON'T CLOSE IT), Minimize/put game in background and Go To Settings
3) Go to apps
4) Go to Manage apps
5) Search for *battery and performance*
6) Clear all data
7) Go back in game/continue game from where you left and voila! (will work even after restarting game etc, just a one time thing),
8) Optional step: enable fps meter from dev tools or any fps meter you have or just swipe to bring your gaming mode and see fps, or you can simply feel the fluidity

Oooh that's bad, shouldn't have updated it, i suggest you hard reset it asap and don't update it, copy the data you have from it to your pc, hard reset and copy data back, don't update like at all, this update gave poor fps in pubgm even at 90 fps, didn't know about the battery though but i suggest you hard reset it, and check battery timing

No no don't do that, becoz you need that app, whenever you restart your PHONE then it will be again 90 fps, so then you'll have to again open the game and meanwhile keeping it in background go to settings, manage apps and clear battery and performance apps data to get 144 back, if for some reason you're not getting 144 and only 90 after that, change your visual to enhanced from top gaming mode swipe while in game, it'll fix that. So you'll get 144 fps until you restart your PHONE again whenever that is. 144 is hella crazy you get so much advantage especially in close range fights SMGS are dope for that.
DeathStroke47 said:
If i want to return to 90fps, i just have to set display refresh rate as 90hertz ? Then again set to 144hz if i want 144fps ? Without wiping data of battery app again ?

Yess! set to 90hz for 90 frames then. Even 90 is advantageous but in 144 you kill people mid animation too OP xD

Question Need help - Bad Battery Experience

Hello,
I am suffering from bad battery experience when comparing my phone to my friend's 12 pro max.
I have done factory reset and only installed apps that I need ajd turned on apps background limits and still nothing better at all
My phone is updated to august patch
I am using qhd and 120hz
No battery saving
Naptime is enabled
I have removed uselss samsung apps like bixby, etc.
Most of features in advanced features are turned off expect double tab one. Spen is off
Kindly check my screenshots and tell me what should I do.
Disable Facebook services (not the app itself). Maybe use a different browser Try using power save mode.
Limit display to 60HZ. Disable any unneeded Samsung apps.
I get about 10 hours of SOT
Basically... Buy an S4
android system and kernel being that high up in the list might point to a wakelock. maybe your wearable is causing it (total guess) ?
disable all facebook stuff and try using it thru a browser for a couple of days too.

There is no point to limit the display to 60HZ because we paid much to enjoy the 120HZ. Also I did not see much battery difference when using 60 HZ
I will uninstall fb and use another browser to open facebook and see what will happen

General My thoughts about MIUI 14

The new system update isn't much, but it's pretty neat, although it does have its caveats. Apart from a major OS update based on Android 13 and some minor tweaks, not much has changed. Though there are some new features that Xiaomi had promised. Based on optimised system resources that reduce the amount of storage space the system takes up, although it is quite negligible. The amount of virtual memory has been increased from two gigabytes to three gigabytesNew wallpapers have been added to the Themes application. There have also been minor tweaks to the system icons. In the privacy section, some options have been restored. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that a new feature has been added to the privacy section called Android System Intelligence. Oh, and if you're wondering where the game launcher is, it's in the security application, I don't know why they hid it there. There is also a new feature in the Notes app, which is the sketch function. Oh, and most importantly for this section, the security patch has been updated to the 1st of May.
Now for the caveats: first and foremost, not much has changed other than the operating system itself. Secondly, the camera app is rather buggy when it comes to recording video, and although this can be circumvented by using a third-party application, it's still an annoyance. I also experienced overheating and draining the battery.
What do you think of the new update?
Also, if you're wondering how I managed to install the beta system update when my boot loader is locked, I found a way to bypass the system update menu.

Do you think this is the fault of Android 13 itself??? I found a similar problem in PE too...

Remove miui.powerkeeper via ADB
All this MIUI "optimizing" is total crap. I always revoke all authorizations for all the MIUI crap in the Password&Security menu. With this the OS runs acceptable.
has anyone had any problems with org.codeaurora.ims? I got a battery draining issue with that app, still on MIUI 13.

that makes it better, but far away from good.. alternative OS is the solution... currently on Lineage and its way better... or downgrade to Android 11, which is even better (even on MIUI) in terms of background process killing...
