need help to disable Emergency call on Lock screen or change Emergency call number! - LG G8 Guides, News, & Discussion

This easy access emergency call feature on LOCK SCREEN is so annoying. My 2 and half years old is able to figure out how to dial 911 because LG make it so easy to dial by just selecting it instead of entering the number. I've tried a couple 3rd party lock screens, they would do the trick but not able to use the finger print to unlock.
Always on feature won't help either, he can get to regular lock screen by pressing the power button.
I wan't able to persuade him not to play around with my phone at this moment. I might get into trouble if he keep doing this.
Since i am staying home 24/7 with him there is always a moment he has his hand on my phone without me noticing it.
I am currently using AT&T G8 with android 10. Can I root it and remove 911 or change it to other number?

is there any ADB command would do the trick?

that defeats the purpose of the lock. the lock is to keep everyone that doesn't know the pattern out of your phone. if someone did get a hold of your phone and a call came then all they would need to do is answer the call hang up and use the phone freely.
I believe, the scenario is this:
Even when the phone is not locked before a call, and regardless of whether the call is originated or answered, when you hang up the phone using the red button, it locks the screen. That means if I want to make 2 calls in a row, I must unlock the phone after each call is over.
This does not happen 100% of the time - I have seen a couple of cases when I hang up and the screen does not lock, but I have not been able to figure out how it decides whether to lock the screen or not when I hang up on a call. In my opinion, the screen should never be locked by hanging up on a call, unless it was locked when the call was answered.
This is one of the more irritating behaviors of the phone - I hope for a change to make the red button function be sensitive to the call state and not lock the phone when it is used to hang up.

Maybe the other party hung up before you pressed the "end call" button. This may cause the G1 to think you are locking the screen instead of trying to end the call. Try not pressing the end call button and just wait for the other party to disconnect the call. Not sure if it will work....its just a theory that I am too lazy to test..

this is the exact behavior i was describing and i too get the mixed results, sometimes it locks and sometimes it doesnt. i guess i will have to test out the theory of not eating end call and letting the other caller end the call.

[Q]Accessing voice commands behind lock screen?

Hey people. I have a problem with my HTC One. I cannot figure out how to access Google Now when my phone is locked. I am using a pattern lock as I have experienced pocked dials and such from my phone, but when i hold my headset button it does not start Google Now. I find this pretty annoying as i would like to be able to access my phone while biking and such. Anyone konow of a solution?

Pocket dialing

Whats the best way you have found to prevent pocket dialing? Ive turned ambient display off and have to use a patern to unlock now. It the only way Ive been able to stop it. It works but I dont like not being able to use ambient display and I also dont like how long it take to open the phone with the pattern.
Any ideas?

Well, other than the obvious, don't put it in your pocket pattern, pin, password is the answer. Ambient display can be turned back on with a screen lock set. Or set screen lock to swipe. That might be a help. Or possibly a flip case.
Enable the Smart Lock feature under Settings->Security. Then set up a trusted Bluetooth device (wearable, etc.) paired with the phone to bypass the screen lock when in range. I use a Motorola Keylink on the key chain in my pocket.
Then, before putting the phone in your pocket, touch the Power button to turn off the screen. To turn it on again, while connected to your trusted Smart Lock device, you merely have to swipe the screen after touching the Power key.
even with a pin on my phone i sometimes pocket dial... only happened like 2 or 3 times in the 4 months ive had the phone. somehow it pulled up the emergency dialer.

I never add emergency contacts because this kept happening. No emergency contacts + some kind of lock is the best solution. I just write an emergency phone number to contact in the "Owner Info" in settings, so an emergency phone number shows up on the lock screen in case I ever lose my phone, and someone finds it and plans to return it.

i dont have emergency contacts either. what im saying is on my lock screen it brings up the dial pad and half the time its selected the emergency dialer at the bottom of the pin screen.

I'm guessing you have a pattern as your unlock method, so the emergency dialer is always at the bottom as soon as the screen turns on.
Try changing it to a PIN, so you have swipe up first, and then the emergency dialer/PIN screen come up.

no like i said i have a pin as my lock screen challenge. somehow the phone manages to swipe up the dialer or the unlock button and then pulls up the emergency dialer and start tapping numbers.
Same issue here, whether i have pattern or pin its still managed to unlock phone and pocket dial from the emergency dialler. I did have my pebble watch in smart unlock, this did all manner of things from video call the missus to change settings and force me to restore rom as i couldnt work out the issues.
I have a flip case that i really do not want to use as phone is big enough, ambient display on or off it still does it!

[Q] How to answer incoming calls without having to unlock the device?

Hi guys,
I am really enjoying my new S10+ just like many of us on this great forum. However, it has caught my attention that when there is an incoming call (when the device is locked), I have to unlock it with a pattern (my method of unlocking besides the finger print) before I can answer the call.
I don't remember that I have to do that on my Note 9, so I am just wondering if there is a setting that I can change to make it easier to answer calls when the device is locked?
Thank you for your input

You do not need to unlock the phone to answer your call. To Answer a phone call on a Samsung phone, you'll need to touch the Green Call Icon and drag your finger outside of the circle toward up. At least it works this way on my S10+.

It is weird that I see this whenever someone calls me
on phone setting, you can use volume up to answer.
I can't see any setting that would cause that. Odd situation indeed. What happens if you tap the "return to call" button without entering the PIN?
Also, just to make sure, you don't have a Bixby Routine set to do something when an incoming call comes in, do you?

If I tap on the "Return to call", it will let me see the normal calling screen without having to entering the PIN.
I don't use Bixby Routine at all, so it shouldn't be related to Bixby.
Every Phone calls need to unlock the screen before answering the calls
Hi All,
RE: Samsung Galaxy S10 plus.
My wife's phone needs to first unlock the screen before she is able to answer it.
I do have the same phone and I don't have to do that.
Where are the Settings to disable that behavior?
Thank you
DO NOT DISTURB MODE (DND)
By chance do you have this activated? When I changed the setting in DND to receive "Full Screen Notifications" I was no longer required to unlock phone to answer calls.

Can i diable emergency call on the lock screen

Hello,
Is there a way to disable the emergency call button on the lock screen?
Last weeks several times my phone has called emergency number itself in my pocket
Is there an ADB comment to disable it for example?
I don't want to install a thirt party lockscreen.
Running Android 13/OneUI 5.0
Thanks
I have looked a lot for a way but it seems that it's mandated by various nanny governments.
I bought a new case with a cover to use in the situations where I was accidentally emergency calling. I hate it but it works.
