Problems with the Xperia xz3 microphone after upgrading to Android 10 - Sony Xperia XZ3 Questions & Answers

I am writing all of this using the Google translator. In that case, sorry if you notice an error.
The problem that is most disturbing my life is the microphone bug . This bug causes that instead of the cell phone using the secondary microphone to record audios, it uses the call microphone. which does not work for this function because it captures lower sounds.
Applications such as WhatsApp, PUBG and any application that uses the microphone will have low volume audios due to this bug. I would like to know if there is any way to change the system's default microphone or something from the uncle
I tried to contact Sony mobile but I had no support for my current version number and the final 0.618. I've tried software repair
I hope you understand.

I think the same thing happens to me as it does to you, because when I send audio messages through whatsapp people tell me it sounds too low.
Does anyone know any solutions?

[Q] Help please: Incredible S microphone poblem

My problem is when I make a call the receiver can't hear me and some time just a noisy wave sound, but I can hear other cleary.
I try to record sound without headset plugged and it is good.
My workaround is plugged the headset when call and talk via smalltalk instead.
Is it the hardware problem, but why it still can record sound as well?
Any further method to test is it hardware problem?
I don't like to send my phone to service center
My current rom is We Want ICS v3 but I already used it for a while before this issue occurred.
I found the cause of problem.. it is application "Auto call record".
After update last 2-3 days ago, it make the problem.
I force cloase the app and no issue anymore.
I found many app that cause my phone go wierd after update new version.
Is it becasue my custom rom or the new version of an application itself?

no you are not the only one
this problem appears on every aosp based rom...and i did not find a good fix for that until now...
Try this fix: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/general/cm11-sound-fix-ultimate-t2861772
if you have installed this fix, you have perfect microphone level etc. and really clear and loud voice recordings.
But this fix causes bad call quality, the person you call to, will hear his own voice like echo.
so this fix, fixes all microphone bugs, but causes also bad sound quality while calling.
i decided to use stock sony because i think calling is important but also whatsapp voice memos for me
I already found that fix.But anyways, thank you!

WhatsApp Voice Message Audio Leak to Louder Speaker

When listening to a WhatsApp Voice Message via earpiece (i.e. proximity sensor) and another message arrives or any other notification, the audio is routed to the louder speaker for few seconds (length of notification audio) then routed back earpiece. So everybody around will hear that audio message.
This is extremely annoying is privacy disaster . Is it happening anyone ? Does anyone know how to solve?
Phone: Xiaomi Mi 5
All roms are affected (even AOSP ROMs)

It's a WhatsApp bug as far as I know. They should stop playback when a notification interrupts a voice message. Contact their devs.

Thanks a million. Let me know of u come across any fix/workaround. Not sure why Xiaomi users (maybe Mi 5 only) don't really care about this issue. IT IS REALLY SERIOUS!
I've exactly the same problem now with my Mi5s. But I'm sure it's not a problem only for Xiaomi phones. Before this, I've used a Oneplus 3 and other phones in the last 2/3 years and always with this same problem. I don't understand why it's so undiscussed.

I was 99% convinced it's the phone's kernel or phone related issue .. now that's more confusing
@XiaoMi Mi 5 users, is any of u using any ROM (Stock, AOSP, LinageOS .. etc) not affected by this issue? Pls help us understand!!
I'm using stock Redmi Note 4 (out of box config) with latest whatsapp version. This problem is killing me
Xiaomi mi a2 Lite. Same issue here on WhatsApp.
Also on FB messenger, the audios are only playing via loudspeaker and not earpiece. This is so bad... It's not happening to my brother who is using a pixel XL.

You should try to install custom rom or reinstall stock rom with fastboot.
during deep sleep, when a call arrives
sound is slow and distorted in incoming call
Me too
WTH, I thought it was a problem with my A2. Right after Pie update I have had 2 issues, 1. Front camera was not working and 2. Speaker distortion during incoming call. Took it to service center who simply flashed a firmware and said both the problems will be solved, but they didn't, they said the front camera module needs to be changed and they didn't have in stock, took it to other service center who refused to login for service stating its just a software issue and will be solved by factory reset! Finally took it to a third service center who opened up and said "the camera connection was lose, and fixed both the issues", front cam was working fine but the speaker distortion was still there. Had to take it to the third service center one more time and replicate the problem there, then they took the phone and said they will be replacing the speaker under warranty, the mobile is still with them as we speak.
And interestingly, when I gave to them to fix the front camera, they reverted to 8.1 but the problem was still there. Wrong proximity sensor placement, yellow band, memory management issues (I can't clean the Chrome cache!), and all the bugs Pie brought in, the worst android phone I have ever owned till date.
I love how this phone falls to pieces slowly and we keep hoping for fixes but each iteration of an update introduces a new bug ... Mi A3 slowly shows up and still nothing : ))

Question Poor video call sounds

I am facing an issue with my video calls with all firmwares of global rom since first release untill 12.5.4. the issue is the other side can't hear me well as the volume is really low, and if a group of us are on the video, only the holder of the phone is heard, and the rest are heard like speaking under water.
Tried several apps, all types of available video calls and all same, DUO, messenger, imo, line, Skype, etc.
However, if speaker is on instead of video call, the sound is amazing. Tested mics of all 3 of them and working perfect.
Anyone facing same issue and was able to resolve it? Please let me know how to get it sorted as it is really annoying.
Nothing here I'm afraid, sounds like a mic issue

Tested mic and tried with speaker, video recording and voice calls are all perfect, except video calls using third party apps only
The First thing I can say is to force stop those apps and clear cache and data and see if the issue persists, try also a reboot after done it

Done, done ,done and a factory reset also done. I believe It is something related to software priorities or algorithm to reduce ambient noise but in a bad way instead of a good way.
As example, I make a phone call with my parents on video call using duo, if my daughter is far around 2-3 Meters from the phone then they would hear her like speaking under water, if further they would not hear her, if closer would be okay. Also, even if close to the phone the volume is lower than usual. However, if it is a voice call with speaker, everything is loud and clear.
This concludes to me as a software issue or apps compatibility with this device. I cannot find a solution, and I see it a very common issue with many devices as well, not only mi 11 ultra, but for this device I cannot find a solution.
Try to make a video call using Duo with people around you, the other side will hear you only and with a lower volume than usual. If you use WhatsApp it is slightly better but still poor.
What Cover do you have? Did you try the same with the phone without cover? Because I don't have this issue (using WhatsApp)

With cover or without cover, same issue
Would much appreciate if anyone got an idea of what is going on and can explain it
a new update
-----------------------------
I found what is the cause, it is called voice gain or volume gain. it is set as low by default and cannot be changed except by root. there are a few applications that can boost gain. as gain by default is set at 1 and can go as high as you could. an app called (Microphone Amplifier) is a simple app that really helped me with it for now but still needs more testing. the app got a very low rate because of no instructions how to use it and very poor UI, but the function is simply what am I looking for.
if anyone have an idea to fix the microphone gain without root please share it with me.
I've tried SetEdit but couldnt find the correct lines (tried volume_voice_xxx) but non of them worked.
