[GUIDE] Debloat the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T - Redmi Note 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

I found a guide to debloat the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T with a simple ABD tool.
These steps were pretty easy and worked good for me. There is also a Google apps debloater but I didn't test that one as I still use my Google apps a lot.
Steps:
Activate developer options
Enable USB debugging
Run tool
Done.

My phone is not root yet and I think that's why it didn't work. It said "Success", but the apps are still there and working.

Root is not necessary. Just the steps in first post mentioned.

Great job! Thank you for these scripts

This is great ! thanks for sharing

i use it and worx great , but i have 2 question :
1-does it remove the "app + it's data" or just the "app" alone ?
2-is there any "extreme version" ?
i want to remove everything except the important system stuff (i have my own launcher + file explorer ....) + i don't want any Gapp

I'm waiting for bootloader unlock. Is it safe to debloat without resetting whole process? If not what apps should I keep? I plan on doing both Xiaomi and Google debloat

The tool reports that the uninstall was a success but the apps are still there and fully functional, even after a reboot.
I can however disable apps successfully.

I think I've debloated my Redmi Note 8T too much. :silly:
Now when I swipe up I get "Application not installed" with a blank screen.
Any suggestion?

I just debloated Xiaomi and Google and it did not reset the bootloader unlock time.
So everything is fine to debloat!

Laggy UI. Is it normal?

Recently bought a 128GB global version, unlocked bootloader, rooted with magisk, installed xposed, gravity box and adaway. Android 8.1. The device is fast enough but definitely has lag issues, even the message and phone apps lag and the auto-rotate is hideously slow, about three seconds to change orientation. Coming from a P10 with an identical setup that feels faster I am annoyed and been thinking of swapping for a Mate 10 Pro unless I find a solution in which case I am happy to keep the A2. Are your devices lag free in everyday usage? Snap 660 should be plenty fast for a smooth everyday experience, navigating through aps and menus. It must be a software issue

The phone is not laggy works very well specially with oreo, probably for installing xposed (if you followed a guide in our forum from whyle) you changed your system to deodexed (other way causes bootloop if i am well informed) for this reason is your phone laggy. Download from mi the latest fw and install it via mi tool with unlocked bootloader and critical partition, (don't forget to check clean all at mi tool) and after root with magisk and also use energized module instead adaway which not changing your system

This guide is making your system deodexed. For installing xposed you need deodexed system. Deodexed to mi a2 stock = laggy. Check if you can try any other rom which supports xposed, there are some in roms thread.

Thanks for the reply. If there are any ROMS that support xposed I can definitely try them. Was thinking about MIUI too.

I did a quick check, first 8 ROMs on development section and none of them mentions anything about Xposed support. I will have more time on my hands on Christmas day but doesn't look good so far.
I need xposed for the "force immersive" module, skipping music tracks with volume rocker (seamless with gravity), youtube adblock, YouTube vanced module. I haven't been able to find equivalent apps that perform those tasks properly. They are necessary to me, been modifying my devices like this for years now.

I have found nearly perfect (but not there yet) solutions for skipping tracks and hiding bars for the A2. I don't think it was deodex or Xposed slowing down the device so much although they were probably contributing, but the Xposed modules themselves. So without Xposed and with stock android 9 the device is fast to my satisfaction and I am keeping it
So, to conclude this, I am now using "granular immersive" which allows control of full screen behavior for individual apps and "button mapper" to skip tracks with long press only when screen is off which is exactly what I want. Thus, I have found the perfect solutions I was looking for (there is probably other apps that do the same thing) so I do not need Xposed anymore or any custom rom.
In terms of speed, the device UI is just fast, probably not as blazing fast as a 845 device, but if I am not too picky I can be very happy with it. I just wish everything popped out instantenuously, some apps do, others have a small delay but this is normal. The phone and text apps take a few moments to pop which they shouldn't, considering the popped instantenuously in much older and slower devices I used to own. Anyway, all in all happy, and as I've said I'm keeping this one. Thank you XDA community for pointing me towards the solution of my problem

Hi, actually I tried your previous post on extreme bloatware removal and ended up with not able to install apks. Even tried side loading via adb. But some required service has been included in your list which caused the apks not installed. I checked with two other devices and same happened. Could you please confirm if it's rectified in this updated one.

Thanks for reporting,
I personally can still install the apks without problems. I didn't need to try adb sideload. otherwise I would not have loaded the list. Anyway I will in these days identify the package involved and make it visible. It was a feature that I personally don't use much based on my configuration. In any case, I repeat, you did well to report it. I will provide to insert it on the thread.

Thanks mate, and I give you a little advice about unlocking the bootloader: it gave me an unlock error even though I never unplugged the Mi account from the device and it was all hours past. With the latest version of the MiUnlock it gave me an unlock error despite everything being in order. I solved by installing version 2.2.624.14. I'll tell you just in case :fingers-crossed:
com.xiaomi.providers.appindex* entries should not be removed from Xiaomi phones. These apps are actually the custom skinned "Settings" for Android - removing them will lose access to all settings and will require your device be factory reset. Leave them alone!

Because as i said, this is a Debloat, i use third party apps for my personal configuration. especially in packages like in this case "calendar"; it is not difficult to guess that doing a debloat eliminates a related service. That's why I always say to make a backup.
Except that removing the calendar provider doesn't allow the google calendar app to work (the play store version, not the one installed by default). It is completely unnecessary to remove it (again, the provider, not the app) and I wouldn't consider it bloatware at all.
I recommend you to use this https://forum.xda-developers.com/poco-f1/how-to/tool-xiaomi-adb-fastboot-tools-t3887359
Or visit the saki github https://saki-eu.github.io/XiaomiADBFastbootTools/
It's better and make you easily to debloat or do any adb/fastboot needed. :fingers-crossed:

found a way to completly disable apps like breeno

so i was just searching in xda and i found a thread for realme x2 pro that makes all the Chinese app go away for good and make coloros CN version tolerable.
I TRIED IT AND IT WORKS ON REALME X2.
and below is the link to that thread which is made by kkarnaout and im personalty thankful.

You can use debloater magisk module and remove all the Chinese apps including theme store, market, phone manager etc. Everything works fine without any issue.

If it's stock rom + magisk module, will the safetynet check break?
It's returned to stock rom now.
I plan to unlock again and flash the recovery, then delete the .apk files in recovery. Finally relock again.
I think the safetynet check would be okay after this. Hope I'm correct.

Please avoid unlocking relocking bootloader multiple times. It may get hardbricked anytime.
Stock rom with magisk modules will not break the safetynet unless you flash xposed.
Just make sure you hide the magisk manager from settings and hide all banking apps or all those apps that detect root and you'll be good to go.
I'm on stock with magisk +modules and debloated all Chinese apps.

china rom miui 12

im about to flash china rom miui 12 but i have a few questions.
1. After you install playstore can you uninstall the default apps store without any errors or bootloops?
2. what are the bloating apps that can we safely remove in china rom?
Im also gonna install china rom at my global device as im not interested at google services
My advice to you is to make sure that your bootloader is unlocked... otherwise you would brick your device..
yes thats correct. reason why android must unlocked before doing anything to your device. if you soft bricked your device you can always recover it via flashboot or recovery.
what i only need is the MIUI 12. if i have the google play store i will uninstall all the apps from china since i dont need it.
i have flashed china miui 12 rom on redmi 9 lancelot and also install playstore, downloaded all my apps from play store and remove around 9 to 10 china apps that can be uninstall from apps easily. only baidu map is there nothing else. rom is too good and working perfect on redmi 9 global variant
thats great!
how about the appstore/market apps for china?
did you uninstall it withoud having bootloops?

just flashed miui 12 china rom using mi flash tool.
so far so good!

1. unlocked bootloader.
2. download mi flash tool.
3. download fastboot china rom.
4. install drivers from mi flash tool.
5. unzip fastboot rom.
6. fastboot your phone and connect to PC.
7. select rom folder.
8. refresh mi flash tool.
9. now you could see your device.
10. click the clean all if you dont want to lock again the bootloader.
11. click flash
note: just ignore the error from mi flash tool and wait to see the logo of miui12. do not pull out thr chord or turn off the phone.
upon checking this rom. theres a huge difference between miui 11 and 12.
faster connectivity. superb smooth transition.

NOTE:
install playstore first before doing anything.
gkeyboard as you would like to uninstall china keyboard.

you need substitute before uninstalling some apps.
i found this list

hope it helps you
additional uninstalled:
sms extra
newhome
smarthome
all huaqin
logger
all print related.
mi home disappeared without any issues. i felt faster bootup, transition and loading.
i tried to remove getapps again and restarted the phone. at first i didnt encounter any bootloops or problem but after i turned off the phone and fully charged, it caused me forever bootloops and it ended up wiping all the data and debloated again.
now my miui 12 china rom is almost perfect.
the next thing i want to uninstall is the multiple user, special features and the getapps. if anyone knows how to remove these apps please reply.
after all of this i preferred to flash it back to miui v11.0.8

Question Finally got my m11u, 2 more hurdles!

Hi guys, coming from a OnePlus 5t, got my m11u and finally waited the 168hrs! Following the instructions on the first post and finally got the bootloader unlocked, I found that was the hardest part, as I had to figure out on my own how to set up adb and the unlock tool etc. But thanks to YouTube I got through and now on EU 13.0.9.0 stable.
During the first week waiting for the unlock, I was hopeful of seeing if I can just enjoy the CN MIUI 13 ROM...deleted as many CN apps, installed Google Play etc and it seemed to be going well....until I noticed the huge problem w getting call and msg notifications. That was already a dealbreaker and seems like no real solution but to continue with a new ROM.
Now using the EU 13.0.9, everything seems great and working well. Except, I am trying to install Vanced youtube but cannot! On the CN ROM it was simply to turn off MIUI optimization in dev options, but xiaomi.eu has removed that option (cannot get the toggle even by pressing reset multiple times). What are my options at this point? Am I left with only option to root the device?
if so, I will try to learn to do it, but I'm hoping someone can point me towards the correct path. There is a how to thread here but it seems outdated as it refers to MIUI 12 and not 13(a12). So far from what I understand:
- a12 root is done with latest magisk v24+
- however v24 no longer use hide magisk and need to use zygisk and a deny list
- bear in mind I don't understand what the above means yet
- from my current status (newly installed EU ROM), what steps do I take?
- download magisk manager APK and install on phone
- make a patched boot.img - DO I USE THE BOOT.IMG FROM THE EXACT EU ROM I FLASHED?
- use fastboot to boot the patched boot.img?
- after this most tutorials tell me to download hide magisk and such, but v24 will be different
- where to go from here to install Vanced root version, and am I missing any steps? After root, will it affect my banking etc?
any help appreciated! Cheers
