REDMI 4X/4 - Screen goes dark and stuck in Custom ROMS - Xiaomi Redmi 4X Questions & Answers

Problem: Many custom ROMs (havoc 2.9, 3.4, 3.5 , crdroid 6.6, corvus ) , screen goes dark and stuck due to unstable network
Reason: If any Network Signal reconnect or Auto changes From GSM to WCDMA and vise versa.
#Gsm network only have 10 to 12 frequency so its not connected automatically.
The error Triggered following conditions:
1. After Screen Time out
2. Screen lock,
3. Some time some apps crashes
4. settings changes
5. when Dual sim switching
So i unable get back to home screen, during the error charging indicator also not work.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I face the error after installing Q based ROM,
1. When I revert back to stock MIUI some times find device storage was corrupted error comes
2. Also some times custom ROMs sensors failed to work.
3. All ROMs have network issue,
@ MIUI based ROMs restart (UI) the entire process only, (system not stuck, not goes black) when weak network changes
@ custom ROMs stuck in black screen when the network error comes
I tried to flash latest Firmware, not use.
Then Restore persist partition not use for this problem.
Currently using Havoc OS 2.9 no such issue.
I did not faced any of this bugs in havoc OS 2.9,3.4 and on 3.5. however there was slow charging and heating issue i found in 3.5.
however device slows down,warms up and freezes for some times if i use several apps in background when using Gcam but that's normal since i have 2GB/16GB variant.
Try turning off pocket detection that might fix this issue.
Haven't tried crDroid 6.6 and corvus so cant say anything about it.
by turning off pocket detection worked for you?
because issues you mentioned i have not faced them.
by the way which Gapps you are using? that maybe causing issue.
Yes i tried off Lockscreen features, like pocket detection and double tap to wake, not fix. Then i am using non Gapps ROMS also its also have same problem.
But i try single sim (Good network); ROM working perfectly without any error and lag!
Also Even Single sim Had a network issue means, same error comes(Whenever Signal reconnect it freeze entire system)
Possibly it might be related to sim card and network. also could be possibility that since its giving error when networks downs so there might be possibility that network antenna cable might have gone loose.(well this is my guess)
or
try using different carrier sim to confirm if this is related to network?
Yes sir tried another sim, When it's 2G not work but 3G and 4G means works good.
I don't know why 2G only have this issue. Also due to network issue entire system freeze!
But sir in MIUI Roms don't have the network issue, if network antenna loose means These miui ROM also have the same issue, but not.
are you using any custom kernel?
Take log when this error happens and share with developers/maintainer of the ROM, they are the ones who should understand this better and probably they might fix it.
Hello sir I am not using any custom kernel.
Then I have issue in custom ROM , startup screen also stuck. So I take log from EU ROM 10.3.1. https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1QYw96xOs_EhhI4g8MH6HYyYGSSy94Gaj&export=download
This log have more line kindly refer from last
I currently fixit temporarily by switching network 2g only mode it wil stop freeze problems., then
2g network not found ¿ but in feature phone have full network In same sim network!
I don't know why 2g band not receive my device properly.
I like to use gsm/wcdma mode and Wcdma mode these are have weak network , so my device freeze.
Currently I fix it by network signal guru app.
What error means Gsm have nearly 10 frequency range so its not connected automatically(that is freeze the device), then I lock 900mhz extended/primary one. Now I received good signal.its work even uninstalled the app... I found the solution in another XDA forum .
unable to charge> check different usb cable or charger (also connect to pc whether it detect or not verify that)
[Q] My IncS completely disconnects, often!
First of all, let me start of what I've tried doing, in order.
New SIM-card, factory reset, unlock + root, custom ICS (VirtousQuattro).
None of the above solved my problem, it still persists! The problem is, the phone disconnects completely from the network (no bars) and I can't manually search for a new provider due "active package transmission" or something like that, it stays disconnected for 1-3 minutes and then reconnects. It happens fairly often, like once for every 5 times I try using the phone. I haven't noticed the problem when being connected to a WiFi, so I'd assume the problem is related to an issue between the phone and the network.
Has anybody else had this problem? Any idea how to solve it?
Have you tried flashing a new Radio? I can't see how that would differ from flashing a custom ROM, but might be worth a shot?
So much for being "unlocked". Also, hey mate
Yes Naforcee, I have exactly the same problem. And it never happens while using wifi as you said.
It started immediately after I updated to Sense 3 / Android 2.3.5 from HTC.
What was the version of Android in your previous Rom? I had issues when I was on Froyo and went to Gingerbread without flashing a new radio.
Don't think it's a physical problem, I have perfect connection and it just dies out for about 2 min until it reconnects, and I can't search for network when it's down due to active packet transfer..
Could try a new SIM card. Might not fix it, but worth a shot - I've seen this posted as a fix for other people.
I used to have this problem on certain radios on the Desire Z, after flashing around a bunch of radios to try all of them. Stuck with one and it went away, so it was software for me.
Try flashing this radio http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1471861 using the ADB method. If that doesn't help I recommend doing a full wipe and reinstalling the ROM. There are a lot of different custom ROMs for IncS which can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136463
I personally like Niks ROM and Android Revolution HD.
Looks like rom installation issue.
My son's Inc-S having a similar problem to the OP, but more severe. A couple of weeks ago he entered airplane mode with all behaving normally, but since exiting airplane mode at the end of the flight he hasn't been able to register on the network (voice or data). We've tried:
fiddling with all the network settings
change sims (all sims work on my Inc2, none work on his IncS)
cleaning the antenna connections
reboot
factory reset
flashing new ROM (Android Revolution HD 2.3.0)
flashing new radio (3805.10.03.29_M)
So far, no satisfaction. We're still seeing no bars of reception (with an X) in the notification area, and don't have the option to manually or automatically register with any network operator (although several occasionally show up as options under "Search Networks"). We usually get the error message, "Unable to search for network while packet connection is active" when trying to select a network. Funny thing is, mobile network data has been shut off on his phone for the past month so the packet connection is definitely not active (wifi is on). Based on a network signal analyzer app, the phone is receiving the same mobile network signal as mine (-65 to -70 db) when they are side-by-side, so the problem does not appear to be in the antenna. The phone works just fine using wifi but is useless as a phone.
Any ideas about what to try next?
Probably a RIL-Radio communication issue. Recommended radio is the newer 3822.01.08.14_M radio, so maybe you should try that.
Loosing randomly 3G or telephone signal
Hi all,
Since about 1 year i'm a happy owner of the Galaxy Note. As the stock rom was quite crappy (eating battery like crazy) I decided to swap it with a CM10.0 flavor (Cookies & Cream).
Well, installing the ROM went fine and the phone worked great, except one thing.
Since the beginning that i'm using custom roms on this phone, i'm randomly having issues with the telephone or 3G signal. As I thought, maybe the ROM is full of bugs, I wiped the phone and installed the official CM10.0 ROM. Unfortunately that solved not my problem. Since a couple weeks ago i updated to CM10.1, and still having this issue.
However, some issues where solved since the last upgrade:
- First ROM (CM10 flavor, Cookies & Cream): randomly dropping the signal, and asking for a SIM pin. Sometimes even a restart was needed
- Second ROM (Official CM10): same as above, but less issues with the SIM, mostly signal related
- Third ROM (Official CM10.1: SIM issue gone, however the phone is sill loosing the data signal + sometimes even the telephone signal (restart needed).
When I loose my signal, something it's just the data connection (3G/H). The strange thing is that most of the time that this happens the data connection or telephone signal restores when I enable/open the screen by using the side/home button. Well, that's very strange as I have no power saving apps or something like that running.
But unfortunately this is not always the solutions. Usually 1x per 2 days I have to reboot the phone in order to bring the signal for telephone + data back alive.
SIM has already been replaced, with no luck. I did install this ROM on another phone (from a friend) as well - which had in the beginning the same issues, however things seems to be become stable (haven't heard him anymore)
I already tried different modems on my phone (XXLSA / XXLSX, currently using XXLSO), but none of them solved this loosing data/telephone signal.
It starts to drive me crazy, as I use this phone for my work too.... being unreachable is quite annoying
Anyone an idea what goes wrong here, or how I can find out why this phone is going nuts?
Nobody that could explain why my phone is having this behavior?
Ongoing 3G issues with Galaxy S3 mini
Hello guys,
For the past year or so I am having intermittent problems with my 3g connection. It just loses the connection with the mobile internet without any error messages and the only way to fix this is rebooting the phone. At first it happened every couple months but the intervals between connection losses seems to get shorter. The last few months it was every 10-14 days, now it's every 5 days. Since a reboot seems to fix this I don't think there is a physical defect on my 3g chip but the shortening intervals are somewhat worrying. I checked my APN settings multiple times and I've called my carrier's tech support several times but they too can't seem to find anything wrong with my APN settings. I'm currently using a custom ROM (OmniROM based on Android 4.4.4 with the Stagefright patch included) but this problem existed even in the original ROM so I doubt it's a kernel/driver issue. Is there anyone knowledgeable enough to pinpoint the problem or at least help me in the right direction because it's becoming a bit annoying and I dislike not being able to figure out WHY something happens. ^^"
The issue you have mentioned applied also to my phone, but it appeared for the first time after installing Omni from golden-guy. I haven't observed it on my stock rom. At the very beginning, I was able to mitigate the issue by turning airplane mode on and off. As you mentioned, the issue's frequency was increasing over time, leading to more than one signal lost per day. Airplane mode solution stopped working. I have also tried to kill (and got restarted) rild, as well as radiod - with no luck. Logs (I haven't checked kmesg) revealed nothing. I'm not sure the details of your issue, but I was loosing the whole GSM/WCDMA signal, not only the Internet access. Meanwhile, the system seemd to be looking for a network, draining my battery.
I still hope that the solution was to replace my SIM card with a new one from the operator. After that, about a month ago, the issue happened only once, and airplane mode on and off solved it. It's worth to notice, that turning airplane mode on took quite long time, about 30 seconds.
I'm having GT-I8190, Omni version 4.4.4-20151108, baseband I8190XXAMG (I'm not sure if it is distributed along with the rom, or maybe resides on different partition, and is not updated with the omni rom releases).
Did you check logcat? If you didn't then logcat might show what the problem is. And your problem sounds more severe than mine. I only lose 3g but I can still call and send text messages. A problem with the simcard might be possible but it could also be a physical problem with the simcard slot though I can't say why rebooting or turning airplane mode off and back on would fix that.
I just wanted to confirm that I have similllar issue with 3g data connection. S3 mini with I8190XXAMG4 baseband. Stock ROM used for last few years (without any significant issues with 3g data connections), upgraded to latest CM11 20151017 from maclaw/novafusion. I noticed that there are some glitches with 3g data connections. Sometimes I need to tap few times before connection finally is being established. Funny thing is that I have second s3 mini with the same CM11 20151017 and all is OK.
I tried a lot of another ROMs; fifferent version of CM11, OmniROM (4.4.4 and 5.1.1), CM12.1 - problem remains - issues with 3g data connection. Is there any solution to get rid of this 3g data issue?
Just tried this, and it helped. Usually, when something is not working, people try to turn it off and on again.
I always had rare glitches with mobile data connectivity, and turning mobile data off and on again always solved the problem. I think our problems my be hardware related. I suppose my old SIM card could have buggy software, i.e. advertising to support some newer protocol, but actually didn't. After upgrading, the phone tried to use the new advertised protocol, and got confused, or made the SIM confused.
I also know about cases, when SIM card simply died without any reason.
I used Note 2 about two years, flashed different roms and never had troubles, but then my friend used it about 3 months on 5.0.2 custom and got troubles with gsm/wcdma. My next samsung phone become our beloved i8190. Flashed it from stock to 5.0.2 CM, than 5.1.1, after month got first Cellular bugs. Tried another LP and some KK roms, my troubles with baseband became more and more frequently every day, flashed different modems, changed much settings in system.. So I was desided that it's all HW problems, and hated Samsung for such failure. But one day just tried to install Project Noble, and all this troubles gone forever. So it's just drivers, which not optimised for new Android versions. 4.1.2 mixed with old TouchWiz after fresh and clean Lollypop feels horrible, but we can do nothing with it.
But if it's hardware related, wouldn't you think that rebooting our phone or turning airplane mode on and off wouldn't fix it? And did you see in the logcat log if something happened before the signal drop? Sometimes events prior to the signal drop can also tell something about the cause.
Hardware could also have its state, which may get corrupted and reset on reboot.
WiFi disconnects constantly
It happens mostly when the screen is off (even though I have the always on setting enabled) but also when using the phone normaly. Suddenly I get a toast that I was connected to my WiFi. I've also checked the router logs an I see that the honor 5c is constantly disconnecting and reconnecting. Does anybody else have this problem? I'm on latest emui 4.1.2 without root or any other mod. I played with different channels and frequencies but that didn't help at all. Any ideas? I think it has to do with the battery optimization settings of marshmallow but even on the performance setting the WiFi connectivity just drops.
Whoever finds this will be my hero
In the wifi settings, just check that, "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" is set to always or not. If not then set it to always.
Edit : Sry i haven't read ur post properly. Is this the problem from the starting? Coz i don't have this issue.
I think I noticed this problem since the beginning but after flashing the latest 4.1.2 it got worse. Skype and WhatsApp calls get disconnected while screen is off (after 15 seconds or so).
zuk z2 pro wifi problems
Hi there!
I have this zuk z2 pro monts ago and it comes with a custom shop rom. With the custom rom everything worked perfectly except that it doesnt have the option to update its system.
So to be able to update its system, i flashed it with a stock rom and it updated without any problem. Then im starting to notice that when i am on my wifi, some apps seemed to have stopped to connect. So i tried it on data, and it worked fine. Tried to connect it to another wifi of another isp, it works, but when im back on my providers wifi the problem still there. Also tried connecting to other wifi with the same isp as mine, and yeah, still apps dont run.
Now, is it possible that the stock rom is being selective with isps when running wifi? Anyone had this very weird problem like mine?
I have the same problem. When I connect to the wifi from my provider it fails, disconnects, stops working.
But I found a solution (for me): I added an extra wifi-router to my adsl-modem. Now I don't have that problem anymore.
Why this is happening, I don't know.
I think that this happens because Zuk z2 is configured for China region at wifi. You can change the region at custom roms but stock rom doesn't have this option
Other similar problem
I have the same problem. When I connect to the wifi from my provider it fails, disconnects, stops working.
But I found a solution (for me): I added an extra wifi-router to my adsl-modem. Now I don't have that problem anymore.
Why this is happening, I don't know.
In my case I have a similar problem. My Wifi not work in 2.4Ghz frequency only in 5.0Ghz. Somebody can help me? I already flash various custom roms and stocks (using qfil) and basebands (from basebands colections) and one million of possible things. Can would be hardware problem?
Try to flash aex or lineage. At advanced wifi settings they have a region setting. Choose China and tell me if it helps
Not work! Actually the lineage rom is installed and the region choosed is China. I don't know what I do.
Any solution?
Try to flash 1.9.104 st by qfil . Notice that relock bootloader . If it doesn't improve that means hardware problem .
can be a problem of incompatibility between zuk phone and wifi router as well. Some TPLink routers are already known not to be working good with ZUK Z2 Pro. So it is not always a fault of ZUK
Today i am trying sagemcom modem. No sucess! It connects for only 5 seconds.
After 4 roms(android 7.1 and 8.1), 3 routers(tp-link and Sagemcom) and 2 days, i dont know what to do!
3 months of heavy use and no problems. suddly i heppens!
But if i put the phone on the router(Very close), it keep conected, but the connection is very very very low speed.
Same problem, after stock ROM update wifi see all networks, but impossible to connect. I install zui 1.9, i update, i install persist partition, i try aex, RR... Same problem, wifi can t connect, you have solution?
Any solution?
Solution to my problem.
Sorry, i wasn't to visit here and post the fix i did to solve my problem. Anyways, here it is.
Basically i found out that the problem goes with a sudden incompatibility issue with my phone and the wifi. Im clearly not sure as to what may have caused such, but it come and goes from time to time.
Solution:
I just simply had a reset on my router and walla, solved it. Also, do a clean up on your wifi list. Forget your old SSID, and connect to the new one. This basically solved mine.
Thanks! Keep me posted and see if my solution helps.
I guess you should try the suggestion given at the comment above. But even better than that, you wouldn't have this problem if you had bought my ZUK as you initially wanted to. Cheap is not always really cheap...
