Do you regret buying Mate 10 now that the P20 is about to be launched with triple cam

So I know technology is advancing and it has been said that as soon as you buy one piece of tech it's already out of date.
On March 27th, Huawei will announce the new P20 phone. It supposedly has triple cameras, 40mpxl resolution, 5 x zoom, better AI and possibly full screen display. So do you feel like you rushed into buying your Mate 10 and now you wish you waited for the P20? Sounds like an impressive phone.
I personally paid £700 for my 128gb Mate 10. The most I have ever spent on a phone in my entire life and don't intend to spend that much again. I am wondering if I rushed too soon. But how long is one expected to wait? ?

No regrets with mate 10 (not pro) p series is equivalent to galaxy s series and mate is equivalent to note series.
No loving my mate 10 pro

if im honest mate 10 pro looks gorges and p20 probably wont be so good looking...and those 3 cameras i really dont care about since this is my first phone with more then one main camera..pictures are way better then my xperias that i had before so im quite happy with the device.
My Mate 10 (non Pro) is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow..2/12/18. No regrets! Of course this is assuming that the phone works well on T-Mobile with no glaring bugs/flaws! I hardly ever take pictures unless on vacation so I think the whole camera hoopla is way overblown anyway. The Mate 10 ticks all my boxes and then some. Actually I would prefer a single lens camera but, this phone has all the other things I want. In fact it's getting harder and harder to find the phone I want, so I'm hoping the Mate 10 works out to be the great phone I hope it is and I plan to hang on to this one for quite some time.
Bought my mate 10 pro today knowing the p11/20 will be released soon. It will be significantly more expensive and I don't think the advances will be significant. So no regrets
I bought mine on January at 799€. At first i was excited having a late 2017 flagship thinking it's 10nm kirin 970 was cutting-edge technology and the AI NPU was woooaaw! I thought i'ld be futureproof for at least 2-3 years. Then boom the news came about the new Exynos and SD 845 supporting hdr10 capture, higher cpu/gpu frequencies, higher framerate encode/decode 4k 60fps+ and more. I really feel that i wasted my money on a late 2017 SoC that cant even shoot at 60fps 4k. Not to mention i thought the NPU would be more usefull.. Maybe adding more scenes via updates that its camera can recognise? or huawei's own assistant on the phone? Nothing.. Just stability after stabilty updates.
I think i'll be selling it soon before it depreciates hard. Maybe around 700 so i can get a device with a SoC that packs more futureproof features.
There will be no soc or device that will be future proof. The technology goes so fast that there will be a faster/better one every time...
I am very happy with my mate 10... ?

You might be happy with the next Pixel phone but you'll be waiting till fall and then buyers remorse will kick in again next spring or don't wait and buy an S9 and you'll still be envious. That's just how tech works!
Talk about bloatware. I'm glad Huawei doesn't have an assistant. Will Samsung even have an AI chip with the S9? I know competition is good and all but there are more important problems to tackle like a unified RCS messenger!
Never. Because I got the Pro for 330$

I like Mate 10 Pro due to ui-performance. Samsung just have too much bloatware. Yes with root it can be removed but when it comes to warranty, the samsung employe will tell you: nope my friend warranty void knox 0x1 get the hell out of here while htc, huawei or even sony exchanges phones with unlocked bootloader and root. (sony exchanged my brothers phone even with unlocked bootloader and root. Plus they unlocked the sim network ) higher cpu frequencies does not mean higher performance. Its just about architecture, its about optimization. Radeon RX 480 with low gpu frequencies beats GTX 1060 in vulkan games example. iPhones iOS is very optimised for their phones no stutter etc. I remember they day that I had Galaxy S4 since the release. The UI was stuttering due to touchwiz not optimized. But what I regret buying Mate 10 pro is: Its extrem easy brickable. Just edit build.prop and boom, you have bootloop and FRP locked ---> flashing in fastboot not working anymore. But as I know how to unbrick it I continued But yeah, dolby atmos oreo and v4a is not working on Mate 10 Pro after so many attempts.
No.
Because i knew from the start when P20 will be released (March is the offical release but likely first week June it will take to release in international market except for USA. And by July the Honor 10 will be unveiled). I also know from past experience that the upgrade between P series and Mate series will not be major. I also expect to buy the P series for my wife instead. lol.
No, I love my Mate 10 pro Midnight blue because I think P20 will look like a iphone X to much with the notch!
As the pixel proves, more camera lenses doesn't mean a better picture, and I would say that, apart from design it will be the only changes....
No, P20 is disappointing from the current leaks. And I don't care much about triple lens, you will not be using it very often.

I have the Midnight Blue also. It's the sickest color ive ever had on a phone. its like a shining mirror finish. Like Flossy say's..." feels good in the hands" (lady's.....)
No. Because that's the way it is [emoji111]️

Works great! Take it from a trucker who's all over the country
yes is do a bit. not because the p20 is going to be so much better. because there is already declining support on the mate 10 pro. so project treble didn't bring us anything yet. android 8.1 only for the p20, although it's out for months.
it's not tragic, but at least it's a bit shady and not putting a good light on the future of support.

Will you update to the Note 9?

Samsung is going to host an unpack at NYC Aug 9th 2018,
since we missed the note 7, did not update to note 8, how about note 9?
Hi, i still have my N920C Note 5 running totally fine on Extreme Debloated ROM 3.3 since a few years now as my daily driver. I am still unsure about any major improvements to spend/waste cash and ditch my Note 5 for a newer one. However, i wish that there was a newer version of my current ROM since i'm stuck on Android 6.0 (i don't think the other ROMs are better to be honest, especially on the battery) but like i said, it's all working fine. I can still take some nice pictures and videos on Auto mode. I watched a video review by MKBHD and wasn't particularly impressed by the Note 9.
For those who are interested in the latest Note, i would advise to just wait a bit for real world usage reviews to start coming in. Don't rush to purchase something which has failed spectacularly in the past with the Note 7.
No, you'd have to be an idiot to fork up to a Samsung phone knowing that they won't support it for very long.
You're better off buying Xiaomi phones on a regular basis, for a fraction of the cost. Furthermore, becuase they use modern - medium/high end hardware, your battery lasts longer.
Samsung needs to step up their game. They don't deserve the level of trust the brand implies.
In comparison I did borrow a Xiaomi Note 5 Plus for a month ($154usd), it was significantly faster than my note 5, had Android 8.0, 10 hrs screen on time and easily 4-7+ days with quite regular usage. I don't often even get 1 anymore, depending on how I use the note 5. Our device sucks and we do not have any active rom support what so ever. All of our updates now revolve around Google's monthly security patches.

4 to 7 day battery life, 10 hours of screen on time. /r/thathappened
The Xiaomi Note 5 Plus is worse in every aspect compared to the Note 5 besides modern Android support.
Seems like you bought the Note 5 for the wrong reasons.
I guess I value higher quality components over having a newer version of Android.
Got mine on order
Can't wait for root for it
in my country
note 5 $11.000
note 8 $38.000
note 9 $50.000??
where a salary avg is around $25.000, love samsung, but their prices are very high! samsung is a mother fu*k*#$ crazy!
I won't get one. I love my Note FE. Am on Oreo. Just the right size. The Note 9 is too big!
You must be crazy to invest again on Samsung.
Note 5 was my personal lesson in order to blacklist this company which doesn't respect me as a customer.
You cannot ask your customers to pay a premium price and then abandon them like this...
The company I work gave me the S9+ within the bonus list. Didn't even open the box and sold it with no regrets.
Furthermore Samsung is not leading technology in android anymore.
Want to get the best camera in the market , Samsung is not the option.
Want the best speed in the market , Samsung is not the option.
Want the best battery in the market , Samsung is not the option.
Want the best price/performance ratio , Samsung is not the option.
Want the best android update support , Samsung is not the option.
Want any combination of the above , Samsung is not an option...
NEVER AGAIN Samsung.

Android Q

Anyone working on this for the Note 9 yet?
If we look at past experiences with Samsung, Given that last year's Android Pie has not officially made it to the Note 8 yet (more than 7 months after official release) and given that Q is not even out yet, you can expect release about 7 or 8 months after the official release. If we go by the patterns of just about every previous Samsung device before, it will be available by February or March of next year.
Sent from my Pixel 3 XL
We just received official Pie... Q will be a long time.
I haven't even received pie yet, N960F RSA (unlocked)

Going to buy a new xiaomi

HI xiaomiers i have a question for u all i started to look for a new phone this week and my uncle told about the xiaomi mi 9 lite. Searching for it i came upon the new mi 10 , now i know its has a bigger sensor and only by that i assume it should take higher quality pictures from the 9 let apart the +1 5x optical zoom camera and the 108 mp.Am a guy that buys phones every 5~ years stated by my Sony Ericsson-k750i LG-910-Renoir and my Google-Nexus6- Shamu ,so my question is this, should i w8 for the mi 10 to drop in a normal price in 3-6 months from now or go for the mi 9 lite .I think i should w8, i want to look at samples from both but these yt reviewers and blogers know about photography as much i know about lamas .
whats ur opinion guys?
Alex
wow 5 years? damn, anyway if you want a phone that lasts 5 years buy a flagship

General Purchasing decision.

Hello,
I recently bought the GT 5G, without knowing that GT 2 is on its way. Now, I can easily return the GT and preorder de GT 2. Looking at the GT 2, it has:
better camera (which I don't really care)
bigger display
bigger battery
corning gorilla glass 5
nonetheless, the promise of 3 years of major android updates.
I appreciate the new update policy, slightly bigger battery and corning gorilla glass. What are your guys thoughts, if you were in my position, and for those that have it, how is the experience so for, are pleased with the phone ?
P.S: I paid for my GT 5G Yellow Racing - 448 € Currently the GT 2 (12 GB variant) is on preorder for 545 €
Thank you !
Depending where you are the GT 2 128gb is 449€ again on amazon spain.
For that price I would return it.
I'm loving the phone apart from a small issue on the screen. Super quick charge, great camera, navigation feels fluid and quick, no lag or anything. For my use, no games, it's more than enough.
I just wish it was a little smaller, I'm not used to it.
3 years of updates isn't a good reason from my view point except maybe to fix the Android 12 fubar
Seriously if the current firmware is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission... let it be.
This Samsung N10+ is still running very well on Pie. I have no intentions of ever "upgrading" to 11 or 12... maybe 10 although it's no cherry.
If you can turn it and not lose much money, ok.
Otherwise maybe wait for the next release; get a phone and OS version you like and ride it for a while.
Fk the hype sales gimmicks... both Google and Samsung taught me that

Reading this makes total sense I have the GT 5G for about a week now and one thing is very clear, the support for realme in Europe is really bad compared to India for example. The forum for global community is empty . By the time it take to roll a stable update for any of the android version for that 3 year promise, will be a journey ...
Truth be told, I cannot complain about this GT 5G, coming from a Samsung Note 8, it's a blast to navigate the phone

The N8 is ancient. I had a S4+ before the N10+'s... yeah future shock. Lol, I was running on Kitkat/Touchwiz for years.
The Note series zenith was the N10+, after which Samsung has dropped more balls than a spastic labrador.
I don't blame you for bailing
And you got a 3.5mm jack... unfortunately no SD card slot. I would like to see Samsung have more effective competition now that LG is gone.
The problem with smaller manufacturers is less devices and often less support by fellow users.
3 yrs update is a very good reason to get GT 2 as GT was launched with android 11 and 2 years update policy.
With GT 2 launching with android 12 + 3 yrs update u will get updates till android 15 , while on GT only till android 13. Thats 2 years of better software support.
Good decision.
