[Boot Animations] LG V30 US998 - LG V30 Themes, Apps, and Mods

Just a few boot animations.
BACKUP YOUR SYSTEM PARTITION!
I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ISSUES YOU MAY INCUR FROM MAKING CHANGES TO YOUR PHONE.
Install to /system/product/media after renaming your original boot animation and reboot.
Since the phone boots very fast timings have been adjusted to allow the animation to run through at least once.
Learn all about boot animation desc.txt format HERE.
I did not create these I only changed the desc.txt file so they would fit the device and play though at least once before stopping. The Cowboy Skull was converted from a gif.

Thanks.. I had a matrix for another phone just to lazy to try and get it to work on this phone.. I think it was green matrix instead of blue.. But this works... Just renamed other zips with the bak extension and gave this zip the right permissions.

Cannot change boot animation

I've tried changing my boot animation several times now and I'm stuck at the old boot animation that just says android. I've swapped the zips in system/media and in system/customize/resource. I'm kind of at a loss. I even tried a couple apps that supposedly change it for you. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm running Liquid Gingersense v. 1.0 on thunderbolt
Sent from my Thunderbolt rooted, LGB v. 1
did you move or make a backup of the stock bootanimation.zip ?
make sure you verify the permission of the new bootanimation.zip .
When I've tried this in the past the android boot screen would show when I didn't have the file named right, check the file name and also if you can put the boot zip on your CPU make sure it is zipped in store only and not compressed

should be in /system/media/
Make sure the boot animation in system/customize/resource is labelled bootanimation.zip and not VZW_bootanimation.zip,,,,if it is nothing will install unless you rename the boot animation to VZW_bootanimation,,,hopefully that helps it did for me,,,also verify that your permissions are the same as the boot animation currently in there before you swap them out

[Q] Custom Boot Animations Play Forever!

I'm trying to get custom boot animations working on a stock deodexed ROM. What I've done so far is in /system/bin: deleted "samsungani" and then renamed "bootanimation" to "samsungani". This got rid of the Samsung boot animation in place of the Vanilla Android one and this works fine (although it is rather crap!).
However if I place any custom boot animation at /system/media/bootanimation.zip it works, but it just plays indefinitely and fails to disappear once the Android interface has loaded. I've tried editing the animation settings inside the zip file. I've also tried a boot animation pulled straight out of the Simplicity v2.1 ROM's zip file which doesn't work either, so it is obviously not a problem with the actual bootanimation.zip as that one must be preconfigured to work on an S5830i.
I must need to change something else but I have no idea what? I tried deleting "bootsamsungloop.qmg" "bootsamsung.qmg" from /system/media which done absolutely nothing.
Bump: I think custom ROM developers should know the answer to this or anyone else please?
EDIT: I worked it out. If anyone wants to know, forget about what I said in the first post. It seems that /system/bin/samsungani is modded in ROMs with custom boot animations as there is a difference in file size. So just overwrite your samsungani with the modified version from a ROM's zip file that has a custom boot animation, such as Simplicity v2.1. Then put your bootanimation.zip in /system/media and that's it.
To remove/replace the boot animation sound the file is /system/etc/poweron.ogg, delete it or replace it.

[FLASH ZIP] Pixel XL 1440p Boot Animation BLACKED Edition - True Black!

Hi All,
Back again to share my latest work. I have taken the Google Pixel XL boot animation and converted it to have a black background. Its 1440p resolution.
I spent a lot of time learning to make python plugin for use with GIMP image editor to apply a number of image processing procedures and then batch process all the boot animation files. The result is I can quickly do this conversion now in less than 5min! This plugin does not simply do background paint bucket fills. The problem I found with this is you are left with intermediate colours remaining on the edge of the google letters from the white background. You might be able to solve that by increasing the threshold but then you are left with pixel, jagged edges which also sux! Instead I played with RGB modes, selective selection by colour, alpha colour, etc, etc. The result is a black background, with nice edges of the coloured google letters, and I think i did a good job to keep original colours. Someone with a trained photoshop'd eye may beg to differ but I think its ok for now.
Only thing I ask for in return is give credit where credit is due if you include this in your work/projects.
If anyone is interested in have the Pixel boot animation for devices of other resolutions (e.g. Nexus 5X) let me know and send the original boot animation and I'll convert.
Paul.
Oh! And as always - DO A NANDROID BACKUP!!! I will take not responsibility.
God bless you developers and XDA

Thanks man
Please. Can you make Pixel device style BootLogo (logo.bin)?
How to apply this? When i try to flash it using boot animations app by jrummy then it shows error "please select a valid file" even though i select the correct zip, is there any other way to flash ? Can i directly flash it using twrp ?
yeah i also tried to put the zip in system/media and replaced the old bootanimation.zip with the new one and put the permissions the same octal 644 still didn't work.
Looks much better than the white version. I didn't flash it though. Just extracted zip and placed the bootanimation file in system/media and set permissions to rw/r/r

I downloaded the zip then extracted it then found the boot animation.zip then went to system/media then renamed the original bootanimation.zip to .zip.bak then pasted the copied zip and made sure permissions was rw/r/r
Rebooted works great

ok thanks can confirm that this worked for me the problem was I didn't extract the bootanimation from the zip file above. Also changed my permissions for octal 644 and it works.
Great job dev thanks

From what I understand this is not possible on our device, or at least no one has figured how to do it yet.

Hmm I tried this. Not working for some reason. The zip has the right permissions and its in the right folder and I used the extracted zip as well. I'm on 6.0, do I need to be on nougat?
I'm getting a small lag spike right before it goes into the final G at the end. It freezes for a second and then finishes the animation. Any fixes?
i also made this for personal use but i simply used gimp to batch edit invert all whit eto black...retaining original rgb

No. Boot animations are in no way whatsoever OS dependent. I have literally been using the same boot animation since Ice Cream Sandwich. It's been the exact install method since that time as well.
Download your boot animation. Use a file explorer to take a peek inside it. Do you see a "META-INF" folder inside? If yes, that's a flashable zip and you will be installing it via recovery.
If no, then you should see several folders named 'part0, part1, part2, part3, etc., along with a desc.txt. Inside each folder is a picture. Together they all make up the entire animation. The desc.txt tells it how to play. The speed, resolution & order of the animation. If that's what you see then that's the actual boot animation itself and in that case;
Use a file explorer with root permissions. Navigate to /system/media and you will see the stock 'bootanimation.zip'
If you're never going to use it again and you know it, you can delete it. Otherwise you can rename it exactly 'bootanimation.zip.bak' and just delete the .bak extension you added if you ever wish to revert (after deleting the custom boot animation you installed).
Another thing to note is that the new boot animation you're downloading here (or anywhere) must always be named exactly the same as stock. So say you download a Spiderman themed boot animation named "spidey_BA.zip" you will need to rename it "bootanimation.zip".
So once your old boot animation is either changed to bootanimation.zip.bak or deleted, move the file of your choice into /system/media. Once the new animation is there make sure you're setting the correct permissions. They should be exactly -rw-r--r-- (644).
That's it. Reboot. Enjoy your new boot animation.
So remember, if your zip has a "META-INF" folder inside of it, that is meant to be flashed in recovery. If it only has folders named part0, part1 part2...in that fashion + a desc.txt, that is the actual boot animation which needs to go to /system/media and have its permissions granted to 644. That's been the case for changing boot animations since I got on Android in 2010, probably longer than that, I'd imagine. Every single phone. Not trying to bash or anything just help you understand. If you followed these steps and you don't see a new boot animation then you are in fact doing something wrong.
It's pretty straightforward. You shouldn't have any trouble or mess anything up. Worst thing you could probably do is just delete any animations. That wouldn't even boot loop you. You'd either end up with a black screen or the old default 'Android' still image until your phone booted. Let me know if you need more help.
Just wow. The black is just immaculate.
Works great on my 7.1 ROM thanks!
Is there a white version for ROMs that don't already have it too please?

Dualcore based bootanimation

Hi guys
You may remeber the bootanimation from Motorola dualcore phones (Atrix 4G, Razr series). Some of you may love the simple waves that radiate from the red logo with white icon M. I love it so much. So, I decided to remake it for my white-bamboo X Style.
The original bootanimation has the black background. I changed it to white, replaced the red-white logo with black-white one, resized the image from 840x960 to 1440x2560. I made no change to radiate waves animation. "Vietnamese Motorola Community" was also added. If you know a bit about graphic software, you can extract the images and remove that text. Then using Winrar to make the zip file with compression mode set to Store. Name the zip file "bootanimation.zip" and replace one in /system/media (remember to backup the original one). Reboot and enjoy. Of course your phone had been rooted before. Tada. If fails, don't worry. Your phone will boot with a black screen instead of bootanimation. Using the original one and inform me the problem.
Thanks Motorola for the great bootanimation.

[GUIDE][STOCK VS996][ROOTED] How to replace Verizon/Carrier boot animation on V30!

Hi guys! I despise Verizon with a passion, and I have been on a mission to remove all things Verizon ever since I got an unskippable ad to install a bunch of Facebook games direct from Verizon. I got an undismissable notification prompting me to "review" the apps I have. It freaked me out and pissed me off.
I have since Frankenstein-ed and Rooted with the WTF method using the incredible guides made by @ChazzMatt. I am now running stock debloated @JohnFawkes VS996 Pie for working VoLTE/VoWiFi. I uninstalled every Verizon app (aside from carrier), and my last step was to replace the boot animation.
Now that you know the specifics of my device, I want to detail the process for replacing the boot animation on the VS996 V30.
THIS CAN CAUSE YOUR BOOT TO FAIL. PROCEED WITH CAUTION.
Requirements:
1) V30 running VS996 firmware (this method may work with VS998 or Carrier variants)
2) TWRP and Root
3) CURRENT SYSTEM PARTITION BACKUP
3) File Manager capable of root access and permission editing. I used Total Commander.
Process:
1) Obtain a boot animation!
You WILL need a boot animation in a specific format.
Link to a post with a huge collection of working boot animations: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/bootanimations-collection.3721978/#post-74901989 Credit to @mauam for this great work!!
I nearly bricked my phone by attempting to use a .gif converted into a .zip, as was suggested on another post. If your boot animation is not in the correct format, the phone will hang on the LG V30 screen.
Now that you have an animation you like, save it. Use the google drive link in the post.
2) Create system backup in TWRP
This is a critical step for recovering if you mess up. Do this every time you try something out of your comfort zone. I had to restore from a backup after deleting one too many System LG apps last night. This is what saved me from a brick before writing this guide.
3) Replace stock animation
We can now navigate to the location of the boot image. In your file manager, navigate to root/system/product/media.
Spoiler: More Details
This is where most boot animation replacer apps fall short! There are two locations where boot animations may be stored on the V30: system/media, and system/product/media. I believe that the LG animations are stored in system/media. Carrier boot animations are stored in system/product/media, at least on VS996/Verizon. If you want to check, try browsing through the existing bootanimation.zip file and opening one of the images. It should be a still from the carrier boot animation. If it is not, try the system/media folder. If you still can't find the carrier boot animation, I don't have enough experience to guide you further.
Having found the location of the boot animation, move your downloaded .zip into this folder. I made an additional copy as a replacement for the LG shutdown animation.
Rename the old boot animations, and simply add .bak on the end of the existing name. This preserves the animation if you mess up or want to revert.
Now, rename your new downloaded animations to the same as the old animations without .bak at the end.
Check that you have been successful by: press and hold > properties > permissions. They should match the old permissions, as well as the permissions detailed in @mauam post. (rw-r--r--)
4) Reboot
That's it! Goodbye Verizon.
If you get hung up on LG V30 screen, or phone will not boot:
Hold down the volume down and power buttons to force the phone to shut down. Ensure that the phone is off! Do the hardware button sequence to force the phone into recovery: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/hardware-button-boot-into-recovery-with-twrp.2534981/
This method worked for me! From here, restore the backup that you made BEFORE starting this guide!
