First experience with Sony Xperia!! - Sony Xperia 1 II Questions & Answers

Hi guys;
This is my fist time buying a Sony smartphone and wanted to ask few questions.
I live in North America where there is only one color is available, black.
I wanted to buy the Slate Mirror(Purple) which means the Asian variant, I think!
As I'm not familiar with Sony Xperia, would it make a difference to get which variant as far as
the locality and Firmware concerned? Also, can I flash any Firmware to any variant? And would
that bring(Activate) the specific local Carrier's optimizations? Would G Pay work on any locality
regardless of any variants, i.e Samsung Phones!
Any info is much appreciated.

Europa has purple and black.
You can flash any firmware ?

I am korean living here in Austraila and my suggest is not to buy it as Korean version of galaxy note is carrier locked !!. They don't have UNLOCKED version at all.
So, don't waste your money and buy international version of note .
Mustang2012, oke i wont buy the korean model but is it possible to buy the international version sim free in korea or they wont even have that model ?
after reading and watching the "screen issue" on the galaxy note i have decided to not buy the device.

Biggest difference is the network bands that are being used.
The 03 seems to be for EU/America's and the 33 seems to be for Asia.
Don't quote me on it tho.

I believe some markets will have a dual sim option too, that will be another model number (although I don't know what it is yet)

Hrmm I might be confused with the z3, although some video reviews definitely have space & cutouts for 2 sims on the device. I'll see for myself on Thurs

It's the Z3 only that will have dual sim (D6643), check the white paper on Sony's developer site.

Yup, I would have bought one in a heartbeat. Doesn't seem that dual sim is that popular in the US, but I'd use it to keep work and personal line on the same phone.

If Sony make a proper push into Chinese/Indian markets, there may still be a dual sim version. We live in hope :fingers-crossed:

It's not that it won't work
It's just that some Asian bands aren't supported by the 03 version.

Hello, so I'm interested in buying the Z3C from Clove, the D5803 model and I"m from India.
I've read that the only problem will be that I won't be able to use 4G.
So otherwise everything will work on Indian networks? Internet, calling, 3G??
Thanks for your help!
http://dl-developer.sonymobile.com/documentation/whitepapers/Xperia_Z3_Compact_D5803_D5833_WP_1.pdf
Apparently the difference is in the 3g and 4g Bands.
Also the D5833 is the only one to have TD-LTE which is popular in Asia (According to wikipedia) So i'm guessing 5833 is the asian model and the other is the "rest of the world" model.

Thanks. Yeah, I read something about that.
I'm just wondering if I can use that model in Asia. Cause that's the only model available in Clove and that site has lowest price by far compared to any other online store. So I was just wondering if I could use the D5833 model in Asia.

If you are buying fro Clove because of the price difference please be aware that in most likelihood you will have to pay customs duty which will pretty much match up the price you will pay for it in India. I bought the D5833 model with the Indian LTE band from USA. My friend bought it for me and is now in Kerala. Waiting for him to courier it to me.

Alright, thanks for the warning. Although I checked using the duty calculator they provide and it says I have to pay around 4,000 to customs. That still makes it a lot lower than the Indian retail price. Although I'm not 100% sure it's accurate

I agree. However, given that the phone is already selling in india at a much higher rate and if the customs guys have any idea about its selling price in India, I would think that they would tax it to equate your invoice with the selling price in India. I'm not certain on this though. But there is indeed a chance. This is not discourage you. The phone is now available from ebay.in for 39990 with full sony india warranty.

True. I'll probably wait a few more months for the price to drop.
I'll make sure before buying the phone from Clove to see how much the customs will cost. Thanks

Not reality i was doing a lot of searching for the blue one and couldn't find it anywhere so technically this it's a different question. A more specific question. I had found international versions in black and gold but not blue. But i finally found it. Pricy but i found it on ebay the 256gb Korean version in Blue on eBay. I'm going to get that one.
Whoa there fella! Check the freqs on that one, I think you may find you're going to want to skip it.

Different animal, he needs to check freqs before ordering, some SK phones don't work well in North America. If it's good to go great, if not he isn't stuck with a spendy problem having skipped it.
This site has a list of model numbers and their supported frequencies.
Not sure how accurate it is, but it looks right.

I cant pass up the $425 off for previous note 7 owners. I will getting a US unlocked in black and will do a poor man blue for now(slick wrap or dbrand). then if they release a blue variant, I will sell my unlocked note 8 for more then what I paid for it to get the deep sea blue.

In my area you'd be good.

I just don't understand why all color variants are not available in every country. It's obvious most people crave the blue, but if you live in the USA u can pick only boring black and orchrid.
Early jumpers get screwed. But he'll most throw a case on to protect the investment anyway.

You're question sounds kinda mixed up. Unlocked? Exynos? Sounds almost like a double negative. The US model is 'unlocked' or more technically specific it is only carrier unlocked. But it's still a snapdragon so thats bootloader locked by Qualcomm. But any carrier sim should work in any 'unlocked' phone. T-Mobile might put their version of Samsung's current release like their bloat and the lock it to their Network.
The exynos to my knowledge is always carrier unlocked and it's a bootloader unlockable device. Which is where the real party is.
So to answer your question.... All of the blue exynos versions are normally unlocked. They aren't 'locked' to a specific carrier really unless you buy from a specific Asian phone carrier maybe. I think they only do that crap in the North American and UK. That thread I pointed you to is where you will find a blue exynos phone when they are available. That's where people will post when they find them
My plan is to not get the Exynos, but the unlocked Canadian model (which is a Snapdragon like the US, with CDMA radios the stock firmware doesn't talk to) and flash 950U1 firmware.
I don't care about having an unlocked bootloader as much as I do a blue Note8...

Difference between Nokia 7+ models TA-1046 and TA-1062

Hi all, How are you?
I am going to buy a Nokia 7 Plus phone, but I could not find a reliable source pointing out the differences between models TA-1046 and TA-1062.
I searched in this forum and at Google, but , I could not find the information that I need.
My questions are below:
1) Are there hardware differences between models TA-1046 and TA-1062?
(supported 4G bands difference?supported 3G/2G bands difference?any other hardware difference?)
2) I could not find a seller for model TA-1046. I have been searching for months where to buy model TA-1046, but I could not find a place to buy model TA-1046.
Does someone know where I can buy model TA-1046?
3) I could only find sellers to buy model TA-1062, How do I make sure that the seller model is build "“00WW”"?
According to link bellow, It seems that only the build “00WW”" is the Android One version, right?
https://www.nokia.com/en_int/phones/developer
Therefore, I would like to make sure that I am buying build "“00WW”".
Does someone know whether is possible to check in advance which build model TA-1062 has installed?
Where can I buy model TA-1062 that has build "“00WW”" installed?
4) I am also confused regarding which model is the international one.
Because lots of reviews describes that model TA-1046 is the international model, and that it is the Android One model as well.
I also found out that the majority of sellers advertise that model TA-1062 is the international one also.
Does someone know which version is the international one?TA-1062 or TA-1046?
Please, may someone help me?
I appreciate any help you can give me
1) Almost the same.
2) Try ebay? or taobao express?
3) Yes. 00WW means it is global one.
00CN version has no Android One logo on the back of the phone.
4) TA-1062 has two different versions. One is sold in Mainland China with Chinese Special Version.
Another is Android One version sold in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
Hi , SUN Huayan, thanks for helping.
I still have some question and concerns about differences between models TA-1062 and TA-1046 .

I mean, I find out some sellers at Amazon and DX, It is not possible to ask the seller to open the product box, and send a picture of it to me.
Is there something outside the phone box that identifies which model TA-1046 version it is?
4) I have searched at kimovil, and I found out those links below that might be model TA-1062 with build 00WW.
Does someone have any ideas how to figure out witch model TA-1062 variant it is?
There are some questions about it at product page at DX, but the seller did not clarified which model TA-1062 variant it is.

Flashing Samsung Firmware

Firstly, I hope this is appropriate to post here - I'm new to this and I'm just getting to grips with it all!
Basically, I live in England, but I'll soon be moving to America. While I was on holiday in America this year, I bought an unlocked Note9 because it was cheaper with the exchange rate, and I thought that it would be the better decision, given that I'll be living in the U.S. soon enough.
However, the firmware is different in certain ways, and I much prefer the U.K. firmware versions. There are things missing from the firmware, that my Dad's U.K. Note9 has, and that my old GS8+ had.
My question is, if I flashed the U.K. firmware to my Note9 would that change my device status? I want it to still say 'Official'. Also, would it do anything to the KNOX counter - or would it even work?
Thanks in advance!

uk model is a N960F
us model is a N960U
you cant flash anything from one to the other.
you should have bought the uk version. a high % of Americans buy the international versions for various reasons. one being the locked bootloader on the us version stopping them from attaining root and modifying the system to their will. this year the international F model you guys have in the UK apparently is the lesser phone performance wise. i think it is negligible since rooting is a big advantage in some cases.
anyways please dont mix up unlocked phone meaning not bound to a carrier or region and unlocked bootloader.
cpu arch:
exynos = F model =unblockable bootloader
snapdragon = U model = locked bootloader
both models are avalablabe in region unlocked models.
there are other variants like the N9600 which is special in a way that being a snapdragon, it can have its BL unlocked.
there is also a N960N which is 99% identical to a N960F model.
A N960W In canada which is 99.999% like the us U model.
and finally the F, N and n9600 are all available in DS models too( 2 x sim cards /dual sim)
