How To Flash Android 10 Based Custom Roms On Realme X2 Directly From Realme UI - Realme X2 Guides, News, & Discussion

Good News! You No Longer Need To Downgrade To Color OS to FLASH CUSTOM ROMS.
Well, if you're Lazy to read like me, then watch the video else, it could be long read...
On 14th June 2020, the first Lineage OS 17.1 for Realme X2 based on Android 10 (Realme UI Vendor was publicly released, most other Realme X2 Custom Roms started rebasing from Color OS 6.1 Vendor to Realme UI Vendor and Android 10 firmwares.
What that means is before now, Developers had to make do with Android Pie Vendor (In color OS 6.1) to build a functional ROM. Not just the Vendor, the Kernel was also based on Android 9 then.
And why is it so?
Realme (or Realmeme - as I fondly call them sometimes) didn't even give out a single Realme X2 device for development, and worse than that, no flash tool that can work in EDL mode (when phone is completely off) and some of their crazy code arrangement then means that you could break the fingerprint function by unlocking bootloader - I mean, who does that?
Few of the developers bricked the device they bought with their hard earned money trying to make things happen for all Realme X2 users.
Some users came together and crowdfunded new device(s) for development.
Developers still have to wait for Realme to sort out their codes and allow fingerprint function with unlocked bootloader in Realme UI which happened from updates C.14 for RMX1991 C.08 for RMX1992 and C.04 for RMX1993 which happened not so long ago, now these devs started working harder and rebasing the device tree to Android Q, cleaning up the kernels, improving the UX and all that.
So, what it means now is that any custom Rom you flash after June is Most likely Based on Android 10.
What's the implications?
For starters, if you are still on Color OS 6.1, You have to upgrade to the Latest Realme UI or at least the version mentioned above before you can flash Android 10 Based Custom Roms.
You don't need to downgrade anymore to Color OS 6.1 to flash Custom Roms.
The Good news is, all the known bugs are ALL GONE like me that went back to RUI because of WiFi display (Wireless Cast) I am ot back to Android 10 Based Roms and I am so loving it.
OH! I haven't said anything about CUSTOM VENDOR!
You got to give it up to all these Wonderful Realme X2 Devs, they've built a Custom vendor.
Custom Vendor is the only way to escape Realme UI annoying Encryption problems which means you don't have to format data every time you switch to another Rom that uses custom vendor too.
HOW TO FLASH ANDROID 10 BASED CUSTOM ROMS
#1 BE on the latest Realme UI
#2 unlock bootloader and Flash TWRP and vbmeta
#3 make a full backup of your partition (including Persist partition - very important)
#4 Wipe caches, data, system
#5 DO NOT WIPE VENDOR even if the Rom You are flashing has custom Vendor.
#6 if you are coming from RUI format data and Reboot.
That's it.

Galaxy tab a T510 Custom Rom

Now that we can unlock the bootloader and root the galaxy tab a T510 It would be cool to see custom roms developed for it
I would love to see AOSP android running on the T510
Is there anyone in the custom rom development able to do
Does nobody want to see a custom rom on this device
I'm Interested too !! A debloated Rom please !!!!!
I posted my TWRP build here, so I'm hoping that enables more custom ROM development for the SM-T510. Unfortunately, my initial attempts with GSIs were unsuccessful, even with NoKnox to disable most of the Samsung security features. Seems I'm still missing something, but Galaxy S10 owners have had some success after making minor changes to the generic image.
Has anyone tried this GSI guide for the Galaxy A8, which shares the same Exynos 7885? It's got the rw-system.sh fix noted above.
I may purchase.this very soon. I have high hopes for this device getting lineage
Would love to see a custom firmware release as there's only a 32 bit version of android and I'd like to get 64 bit support. Great little tablet aside from that downside
Interesting note here in the @phhusson's Treble Wiki:
Why should I use GSI for A/B devices to some A-only devices? : On Android 9, Google changed the requirements and all devices shipped with Android 9 must use "system-as-root". Before this change, only A/B devices were system-as-root and GSI name was separated by A-only and A/B. For this historical reasons, you have to use GSI for A/B on the devices shipped with Android 9+.
So, I'm thinking that we should be using ARM for A/B...and not many custom GSI ROMs are built for that target.
Okay, I had some limited success with the latest AOSP 9.0 GSI build from @phhusson. The note above from his Wiki was spot on: We need an ARM A/B configuration for the SM-T510/T515...which is unfortunately a rare combination. You must also this updated /system/bin/rw-system.sh script. I used the build with GApps (system-arm32_binder64-ab-gapps-su.img.xz), but this generates a ton of error notifications because the device is not Play Protect certified.
We're getting much closer, though.
Okay, here's a quick-n-dirty custom ROM build based on the AOSP 9.0 GSI mentioned above: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...om-nexus-stock-2019-galaxy-tab-10-1-t3944222/

Havoc OS 3.4 [Android 10] On Realme X2 - Installation Guide, 1st Impressions & Review

Havoc OS 3.4 [Android 10] On Realme X2 - Installation Guide, 1st Impressions & Review
About Two Months ago, it looked like the development of custom Roms For Realme X2 was never going to kick off. Today there are about four stable-enough-for daily-driver custom Roms Available. Thanks to all of these hardworking developers, Realme X2 now has official TWRP recovery support for all the variants. A week ago I took an in-depth look into Lineage OS 16 (Android 9) On Realme X2 Today I am going to take a look at Havoc OS
Is it Better than Realme UI on Realme X2?
You Can see the first impressions and how to install it below but Here I will delve into more details.
INSTALLATION
First, you need to have an unlocked bootloader. If you are already on Realme UI with locked bootloader, please do your phone a favour, do not try to unlock the bootloader now until Realme provides an official way to do That!
You can see how to flash TWRP recovery HERE
You have to be on Color OS 6.1 to flash it because it uses Color OS vendor. For the Best Results, the variants should be on the FOLLOWING COLOR OS 6.1 UPDATES OR FLASH IT BEFORE FLASHING HAVOC OS:
RMX1991 - A.17
RMX1992 - A.18
RMX1993 - A.18 (A.19 WORKED FINE FOR ME)
Boot into Latest TWRP Recovery WIPE:
Both Caches
System
Data
NB: DO NOT WIPE VENDOR PARTITION, THE ROM DOESN'T HAVE A CUSTOM VENDOR YET!
THE general performance for this Rom is quite impressive with the first build (Alpha) and you have to check it out to experience its smoothness and speed nevertheless, there is a challenge in registering the fingerprint. I was first discouraged but when I eventually registered the fingerprint, I was quite impressed with how the system reads fingerprint.
To register the fingerprint easily (as I later learned) wipe your fingerprint regularly during the fingerprint Registration,
tap gently on the screen and hold for half a second to 1 sec - and wait for the haptic feedback (vibration)
UI And OPTIMISATION
When it comes to customization, Havoc gets A++ for me. It even has a game mode which will be a delight for gamers.
The Status Bar
View attachment 4993763
The Settings
View attachment 4993761
The Android Version
View attachment 4993759
The Performance is Smoother than Smooth AF... No Lags, No dulling, No Hanging
When It comes to battery charging speeds, I was shocked because it did charge faster than VOOC charge in Color OS 6.1
I did a video for that because you need to see it to believe it. Having used Havoc for 2+ days as a RMX1993, I am not worried about Realme UI on the EU version.
You have to turn off 'ok google' hotword as it seems to be using the mic continuously and blocks access to might to other apps
Another challenge is Device Not certified on Google which is actually a problem coming from bootloader unlock. You can permanently fix it using this guide HERE!
So, are you going to give it a try?
Do encourage the Devs or just buy them a bottle of beer...:good:
They are doing a great job for the Realme X2 community

Seriously? Yes, I am a reviewer who just reviewed a ROM for Realme X2 and decided to share my
Review to a relevant community on xda.
Did you not read the credits section? The ROM Maintainers are all xda Members so you can pm them and ask why they have not
opened a thread for It I was surprised myself else I didn't put it myself. XDA now removes Telegram groups links so
If you want the download link, just ask nicely.

Which is most Stable and Secure ROM ?

Hi Guys,
I am currently on official ROM on my Redmi 4X. I want to install custom ROM. I want stability and security
Could someone please suggest the best ROM I should opt for ?
Android 9 based ROMs are more stable than Android 10 but that doesn't meant Android 10 ROMs are not much stable but Android 9 may not have latest security patch. it depends upon your need.
I would suggest you for Havoc OS both based on Android 9 and Android 10.
Just last month Redmi 4X got 4.9 kernel and many Android 10 ROMs started supporting it which is great. in my opinion you should give it a try on latest Havoc OS.
If you want a custom roms for a daily use then Lineage os 16 is the answer. Yes Los dosnt have any "awesome" extra feature but it is very stable and secure. Another good rom for daily use is Pixel Experience.
The two rom I mention may not offer crazy customization, awesome "extra features" or the most up to date kernel (4.9) but for daily usage they are the best imo.
I use Los 16 with no root (22 april build), its clean, light and quick. Most importantly I'm lucky enough to pass the safetynet with it so I can use my device for banking, pokemon go, netlflix, snapchat and many others.
Edit:
FYI if you want to use a custom rom you must prepare yourself to not be able to use banking app. Even if you dont root your device you may not be able to pass the safetynet on a custom rom. Safetynet is what google use to check wheter your device is "safe" or not. Of course you can find a some workaround to "bypass" the safetynet but I wouldn't recommend you to do it because it may pose a security concern.

Really appreciate your suggestion.
I also narrowed down to Linage OS 16 and pixel experience ROM. I have some follow up question:-
1- You mean other custom ROMs may not be able to pass the safety net. But linage OS 16 able to pass safety net, right?
2- I saw official page but not thread on XDA for official linage OS 16? You directly refereed to official page?
3- Have you tried latest (10th June) build of Linage 10 OS?
3- I want Android pie based Pixel experience ROM which I suppose is more stable then Android 10 based. But on official page it have only android 10 based download link. Could you pls share the download link for android pie based ROM ?

1. No, most rom "should" be able to pass the safetynet if you don't root it. But.. it doesnt mean 100% you can pass. Even if you use the same rom as me it doesn't mean you'll pass. In the end it all boils down to "how and what u use" to flash the rom and luck. Im speaking from personal experience. Not long ago in another device, I changed to a custom rom and I cant pass the safetynet even tho I dont root it.
Fyi I just changed to Pixel Experience plus in my redmi 4x and I'm still able to pass the safetynet. It's luck really.

Sorry I didnt see question 3 n 4...
3. Yes I tried the 10th june build of Los 16 before switching to pe plus (android 10). The 10th june build as far as I'm aware of is almost the same with the 22th april build. It just have the newest security update and under the hood improvements.
I have 2/16 redmi 4x with goodix fingerprints. I dont have any fingerprints issue with the newest official pixel experience plus. I have tried other android 10 custom roms briefly and I dont see any issue with fingerprints. Ironically when I installed Los 16 (22 april build) my finger print dont work, I restored my persist backup to fix it. No matter what dont forget to back up everything.
I dont have official pixel experience pie. But I do have an unofficial pixel experience plus pie(android 9), I have not tried this rom yet but If you want I can share it.

There were issue with Goodix fingerprint sensor but as far as i remember it's been solved. my device has FPC fingerprint sensor so had no such issues.
I haven't seen anyone complaining about fingerprint sensor in recent few weeks so i can say it is working fine.
If there is any ROM specific issue with fingerprint that someone talking then i don't know because currently i am on Havoc 2.9 and since last week i haven't checked respected ROMs threads and its discussions as i was busy.
4.9 Kernel been added to Redmi 4X which is greatest thing ever could have happened with device, actually i wasn't expecting it as Redmi 4X is almost a 3 years old device.
4.9 kernel improves overall performance of device and basically you can expect even longer support for Redmi 4X in the future.

After trying PE for a few days here is what I have to say about it
Pros:
- as expected, it has more features than Los
- google assistant is quite usable
- surprisingly I don't see much difference in battery life compared to lineage os.
- overall it's pretty good and stable ROM
Cons:
- now I'm using havoc os because it can't read my third Sim card(it can read my other two just fine)
- Small font, the biggest font size it has is still smaller than the default font size in LOS. This issue affects me pretty heavily because I do hours of reading in my phone. In Los I can read for whole days without problems. But in PE after only reading for few hours I'm already at my limit.
Summary: PE is pretty good. But unfortunately it can't read one of my sim.
Additional info:
Using Lineage is will encrypt your phone, if you have decrypted your device, flashing Los will automatically encrypt it. Some twrp or other custom recovery can't read encrypted phone.
I use this lovely unofficial twrp by pranaya 2005, the maintainer of Pixel Experience for santoni. MOD EDIT: Telegram link removed, please read the STICKY!
If you have encrypted device, your phone will ask for password. Most android 9 Roms don't ask for password. Most android 10 Roms (pixel experience, havoc) ask.
To fix this issue just go to twrp -> wipe-> format data.
It'll decrypt your device but remember to backup everything cause it'll wipe all data on your device.

Yup...
0. Pick a day where you're absolutely sure you wont need to use your device for a whole day.
1. Unlock bootloader (I unlock my device unofficially cuz I hate waiting period. But I still recommend you to do it the official way).
2. Flash twrp (or any other custom recovery you like)
4. Back up everything via custom recovery. It may take up to 11 gb of storage so make sure you have more than enough free storage in your external sd card. If you dont have enough storage just backup everything except system partition which take a LOT of storage.
5.PRAY TO GOD
5.1. Use lucky charm(s)
5.2. - 5.9. Do everything you think may help with ur luck
6. Wipe Everything
7. Flash rom & gapps(if it isnt included in rom).
9. Reboot.
10. Enjoy... or not.
Note:
- it is what it is. Do it at your own risk.
- if ur fingerprint dont work and nothing happens even tho youve restored your persist back up. Go to thread about Los 16 fingerprind doesnt work created by me, there I gave link to a solution that works for my device.
- If 30-60 minute passes n ur phone hasnt boot then your phone maybe stuck in a bootloop. Go to twrp and reflash or try another rom. For me it usually takes less than 10 minutes to boot.
- if ur phone suddenly dies n you cant boot, fastboot or go to recovery. First, calm down. Take the back of the phone off carefully (you dont want to accidentally tore the fingerprint cable off). Try disconnect your battery from the phone n reconnect it. Then try go to fastboot or recovery.
- if reconnecting the battery dont work use edl mode (just search for edl mode redmi 4x for a guide).
- If edl mode dont work go to phone service. If they cant fix it just buy a new phone.

I Am facing lot of problems with custom Rom such as usb not connecting to pc,middle touch not functioning , calls not working . I've done factory reset my device and everything working fine except phone not connecting to pc.
I don't know how i am possibly going to unlock bootloader it it's not going to connect pc.
i've updated pc driver and work through all solution, i think the problem is with miui stock rom 11 update as the same issue is posted on other threads.
I'm afraid I will also need to switch to a Custom ROM sooner or later, although my experience with santoni Custom ROMs was not too good. There was always something broken - be it Deep Sleep, GPS fix or fingerprint sensor.
At the moment I am trying to decide between
Resurrection Remix 8.6.x (Android 10)
Havoc OS 3.8 (Android 10)
AICP 15.0 (Android 10) - although an older version ~1 yr ago did not work too well
LineageOS 16.0 (Android 9)
and don't know what to choose. Stability and battery runtime are most important, I also need some basic customization, but no senseless bulls**t like animated unicorns running over the screen or things like that.
Which of the beforementioned work(s) well?
If someone still reads this...
I've tried RR and Havoc. I liked both and did not find any major bugs during my short tests, but the fact that full device encryption did not work is a big no-go.
Now I'm on LineageOS 16.0 official (with older Android 9) and despite the fact that there could be some more features and customization possibilities I am very satisfied with stability and performance. Encryption worked when formatting userdata with OrangeFox-R11.0_0-Stable-santoni and afterwards using OrangeFox-R10.0_3-Stable-santoni.

Question Flashing Android 13 based ROMs, how?

I'm seeing popular ROMs like EvoX and ArrowOS having official builds running on Android 13, and I'm curious how can I get them running on my Note 10 Pro, so any idea how to flash them on TWRP?

Install lIke always ???
:: download image, boot to twrp, clear relevant partitions ( see thousands threads before ), install .zip or image of rom, maybe install gapps and magisk , etc.
Go through the advertisements, but first understand whats going on , before you brick your device
Good luck !

There's one catch, you apparently need an Android 11 build of TWRP to flash Android 13 mods, due to odd issues on Android 12 TWRP builds

I think that the only person who can answer You is Yourself, by installing and testing each of the beta version of the 3 roms Android 13 existing at this moment for the Redmi Note 10 Pro.
Why ?
It’s a bit early as these 3 A13 roms are very recent and no many persons have already tested them.
I installed once Arrows 13, I find this rom very promising but I can’t use it as daily driver because I’m missing features which I have with A12 crDroid like separate volume for phone and notifications, 2 buttons navigation, advanced restart, MIUI camera, …
The download link for the second one seems to be not available for the moment.
The third one is total new (today) and the download link for the Redmi Note 10 Pro seems not to be yet loaded.
The best for You is either try by yourself or wait some time for having the advice of other users.

I can't help You more as I'm not an expert, neither an accurate tester.

All depends of what you are expecting of the rom.
This morning I installed for the second time the last version of "Android 13 Project Elixir" on XDA forum :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ir-official-thirteen-aosp-05-09-2022.4489275/.
I gave my opinion about it (see and read last post of the thread Elixir).
The only point about which I will never discuss is the battery draining bacause it depends not only from the rom but also of the way you are using your smartphone and from the applications you have installed and are using.
Most, if not all, android 13 custom roms are still wip regarding the customisation, almost barebone. Miui camera might get ported to a13 once every bugs has been squished, meanwhile gcam should be a better alternative (see the dedicated thread about it). My advice: sticks to a12 until all customisation has been migrated to a13, unless you're willing to be a tester.

Full guide on how to install custom recovery plus custom rom

Hello there, i am using redmi note 9/10x 4g currently on miui 13 Android 12 and I wanted to install a custom rom in it.. so anyone could please give me a full guide on start to end.. i have already unlocked my bootloader and k want to install a custom recovery and after that a custom rom.. so please someone give me a full guide for this miui version..
Thanks in advance..
First of all, it depends on what ROM you would like to use. I use Project Elixir which is based on Pixel Experience. The maintainer is no longer active so you rely on yourself. The newest 3.4 version requires MIUI 12.5.4 Global (or EEA if you end up with a soft brick) as it's based on the R vendor rather than the S vendor. You can find all other information either on the GitHub or Telegram group. (Yes, feels weird to use Telegram) Here's the quick guide https://github.com/ProjectElixir-Devices/Wiki/blob/tiramisu/merlinx.md
Redmi Note 9 has a codename merlinx in this case as there's already a Motorola phone with a codename merlin and many people were fooled and got their phones hard bricked. Since this is a MediaTek chipset, you don't have any A/B partitions. If you don't follow the guide or flash the required firmware, you will end up with a beautiful error, maybe even a permanent one. The easiest way for me to flash the ROM from the crdroid recovery was the ADB Sideload method as my SD Card wasn't picked up by the recovery. Make sure you have a reliable USB connection that won't get interrupted during the update. You may find a lot of missing stuff and glitches in the ROM like purple battery indicator when in landscape mode, random freezes, a stock battery widget is broken (Android 13 build issue in general) and so more. There's no custom battery indicator when charging on a full shutdown. You will have a default MIUI one.
