You will need root and unlocked bootloader.

It is already rooted with bootloader unlock and magisk.
Can I do so afterwards?

Yep. Either Uninstall using titanium backup or remove apk from wherever the system apk is. Then push (or copy) to destination and set permissions to 755

I can't overwrite it.

The titanium backup allows me to disable the app, but not to delete it.
It also says Root Explorerde permissions change failed.
Is there any other way to do this?

FWIW I'm having the same issue. Titanium Backup Pro says it can't find the APKs and Remove System Apps app thinks it does and then really does nothing. I even tried Lucky Patcher, which does the same thing.
Root File Browser shows everything in System/App and System/Priv-App as being 755, but if I try to change it to 777, it says it fails. If I try to delete anything, it looks like it does it, but then nothing changes.
If I try to change permissions through ADB, it tells me that the file system is Read-only, and if I tried to run ADB as root, it tells me it cannot run as root in production builds.
Edit:
Solution: Install any terminal emulator, and the Debloater module from Magisk to remove system apps systemlessly (see Debloater module official thread here)
Edit 2: There are three apps, Call of Duty, Tidal 3 month free trial, and Linked in, which are located in /oem/app and they cannot be removed by this method. I do not know how to remove them...

Hi, Daneshm90, nice to see you here. I guess he has root, since both apps require root to run.
It's strange, because I use rootexplorer and I am able to delete the unwanted apps. however, I noted that if you boot into recovery, there are some messages saying installing default apk files (?) before the recovery screen came up.
Not sure if the recovery is restoring these apps.

Just install Mosaic VI and I can't install apk's?

Which is a problem since I need to update MosaicOTA. Anyone have any clue why it's doing this?

Just to check, are you having trouble installing all apk's, or just the Mosaic OTA apk? If it's just the OTA apk, it's because it's not going to install by normal methods. You'll have to see about dumping it into the /system/app folder with a root explorer (if memory serves me correctly).
Please ask rom specific questions in their respective existing q&a threads.
Uninstall the ota with titanium back up, reboot and then you can install it normally.
By default it is in /system/app and the native package installer only writes to /data/app so if the existing app is still in /system/app it will fail to install.

I did just that and it still sees the original OTA in the system. Is it somewhere else also? I have Root Explorer. Never mind. I just copy and pasted it into system/apps and now it works.

Take the apk from your titanium backup, and move it manually to /data/app. Create the folder for the app, put the app in the folder, and make sure the folder and app permissions are set correctly. Look at the permissions for the other folders and apps that are already in /data/app to know what the permissions need to be. Once you've done that, then reboot, and check to see if the app is in your app drawer.

Go into /data/app using root explorer or something similar, and you will see what I mean. The file structure for LP is different than KK.
Example (uk.co.nickfines.RealCalc-1 app):

It doesn't work anyway (Dubai Racing). I tried it, and it won't even show up in the app drawer unless it's installed to /system/app. Even then, the app opens and begins to load, and then it just stays stuck at a blank screen and never loads.
Re-reading your initial post, does titanium backup not see your backup of Dubai Racing only, or it cannot you not see any of your backups?
If that is the case, make sure you don't have a lot of /0 folders in /data/media. There should only be one /data/media/0 folder If there is more than one you have to fix that. Make sure titanium backup is pointing to the correct backup location in settings too.
Also try this in terminal emulator: restorecon -FR /data/media/0

Help moving user app to system partition...

I'm having a problem getting to move any user app to the system partition on my Nexus 6. I'm using the Pure Nexus ROM, now rooted with Magisk, Android 7.1.2. The thing is, I have tried to do so when I was on Stock ROM, also tried it with SuperSU root instead of Magisk with no difference whatsoever. Link2SD doesn't work but neither worked system/app mover by j4velin.
What should I do to get that to work? Thanks in advance...
You're using Magisk... There are modules for that.
Two actually. And they can be installed from the Manager:

https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3477512
Take your pick.

Well right now for some reason Magisk isn't installing anything on my device, however I was wondering, if there is a method which installs the app as system and that the app continues to be there even if I unroot my device?

The whole design concept of Magisk is to protect the system partition from being modified. It does that by sym-linking directories. Using Magisk, as designed, the apps will go into the Magisk.img, not system. When booted, it'll look like the apps are in system but if you unroot they'll be gone.
If you don't care about modifying the system partition, you can move an app manually. User apps are in /sdcard/data/app and system apps are in /system/app. Once moved, you'll have to edit the permissions for the folder to rwxr-xr-x (755) and the apk inside the folder to rw-r--r-- (644).

Thanks for the info mate! It was really helpful to me to get to understand how Magisk works, and to be able to make the changes I wanted to my system using Root Explorer. Is so weird though, that those apps who claim to automate things, don't work on my device...
Thanks again!!!! :good:

It's not working.
Could you please tell me in which directory of System this apk is stored?
I'll manually put the apk there and edit it’s permission to 0644.
You can check it by an App called App Inspector (Available at Play Store)

I know very well for ApkInspector - screenshot attached.
This is system app, still not sure would it work.
But guys, if you think you don't like a particular 'bloatware' app, just disable by ADB. What's the point of deleting 3 MB from Internal memory and later having such troubles
Suggesting to flash stock Ramdisk and Recovery and to take Install latest by eRecovery. You will not loose Network patch

I have just uninstalled the App, not deleted from System. It seems the app is still in it’s own directory. I have tried to install it by tapping install. But its not installed.
Is there any adb command to re-install an uninstalled APK?
Does flashing stock ramdisk and Recovery trigger a Factory reset?
My ramdisk modified by magisk and have stock recovery installed.

Ok, then you needed to say in the first place what did you really do. If you uninstalled (for default user) by ADB, then the application remains on the system (for users 'other' than default) and can be reinstalled by ADB again (although not possible on old ADB servers like in EMUI 4). For the commands see (check examples by the end of the script there)
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80526831&postcount=3
You can't click on the apk uninstalled by ADB to 'install' back.
For that reason disabling by ADB is more practical, app can ba re-enabled without ADB, simply through Settings, Apps
PS: eRecovery Install latest does not trigger Factory reset, unless you don't take Factory reset option by mistake from eRecovery
Flashing stock Recovery or Ramdisk does not trigger Factory reset (if correct file is flashed to the correct partition)
