Mi 9 suddenly stopped working and would not turn on or charge - until I drop it - Xiaomi Mi 9 Questions & Answers

My phone suddenly stopped working a couple of months ago. It would not turn on or charge, neither connect to a computer.
I left it a service repair shop, they said it was firmware - I did not approve the service, and they returned the phone in working condition - I guess they opened up the phone and disconnected and reconnected some flex cables.
So the phone was working, and another day, I drop it on the floor. Nothing broken from the outside, but the phone was dead again, same problem: not turning on or charging.
Left in a service repair shop again (a different one this time), this time they said it needed a battery replacement, but because of the pandemic they didn't have one to replace it, so the phone was returned. And again, in working condition.
So it was working for a couple of weeks, when finally, out of the blue.. stopped working. Dead, not turning on or charging. But I didn't give it up, and tried from time to time to put in a charger...
And there I was, with the phone not charging, no led, no nothing. But I drop it on the floor (tried to come out of mute on the conf call I was in), and boom: phone is back! It's charging now, back to work.
So I assume there is something on the hardware that is making my phone dead. Is there anyone that have worked on phones that could know? Is it the battery? Is it the battery cable?

And it stopped working again. There seems to be some loose part inside, so I will open it up when the tools arrive from AliExpress, and will glue / check every connector.

do y find any solution? my mi9 stop working days before and it doesnt open

Story of my brick

All started with the phone randomly turning off itself. Sometimes even when I got a call. It became more often in time, so I was looking for solution. Most of the people said to send back the phone, but I didn't want to bother, and also I bought it new from Ebay. Somebody said, that the new Cyanogen mod solves the problem, so I put it on the phone. Well, the mod was okay, but the phone still turned off sometimes. I didn't really bother until one time the phone was plugged on the car charger, and I was listening music from that(battery was around 70%). It turned off again, and when I tried to turn on, I couldn't.
I removed the battery, put it back, and I could turn on the phone for like 10 seconds, and it died again, and showed red led, like the battery is low. It was still on charger, but it didn't make a difference.
I got very angry, because I assumed that the replacement battery I bought a few months ago from ebay was faulty(1700mAh), so I got home, and put in the old 1100mAh battery from my drawer. It worked fine, and I even plugged back on the car charger, listened music, used gps, etc.
I got out of the car, and took the phone with me as well, and like 30min later I hear somebody calling me. I took the phone out, but it was off. Tried to turn on, but only saw the red light flashing, no answer. I realised, that it might not be the battery then! I got home, plugged on the charger, but as I expected, no reaction. I left the battery like that, and ordered a new 2200mAh branded one from ebay, while I was waiting for that the phone just sat on my table waiting. After 2 days of idle, I plugged in the usb charger to the pc, and the g1 on the other side, and it turned on! It started to charge the battery from 0%(the battery was 100% when I took out from the drawer), so I quickly wrote a text to a guy, and left it there to charge. 15 mins later I see the phone dead again. Next day the "superbattery" arrived, I was so happy, I put it in. But: no reaction at all! Tried all button combinations as well.
So here I am now, some people said it has short-circuit, and that discharged the battery(batteries are not extended in size, i bet it would work with an other g1), and I also read it can be the motherboard.
Any ideas what could cause the problem, and how can I replace it?
Warranty conditions: the phone was new from ebay, modded with cyanogen, and should be under T-mobile warranty. It was unlocked as well, and O2 simcard was used. I never had any contact with T-mobile whatsoever.
The phone doesn't have serial number on the white patch on the back(strange), that according to HTC warranty policy makes the warranty void. IMEI number cannot be checked, because phone doesn't turn on. I'm not sure if T-mo would help me, neither HTC. Please let me know if you have ANY idea how to fix the phone, or get a replacement, or convince T-mo or HTC to fix it!
All help is appreciated about everything!

You're not getting replies, because your options are limited. If you are handy, you could buy a trashed G1 with broken screen off ebay and replace your main circuit board. Otherwise, you will need to get stock firmware on the unit and attempt to return the phone, which seems unlikely without a serial number, as you say (sounds stolen to me?).

Xperia TL Charging Issues

I had A LOT of charging issues right out of the box when I got my first TL in April. The main issue was it had to be powered on to charge. Not a helpful situation when the Battery is at Zero. I had to do the workarounds just to get it to power on, and that was rarely successful the first try. It would also power down at 20% and record a different % when powered back on.
The last time it died it took being plugged in for over 12 hours to power back on. When It finally came to life, the touch screen was unresponsive, and any attempt to repair it VIA PC Companion or other programs failed. PC Companion would not recognize it being turned off + VOL Down, this likely tied to the fact that it would not charge if it was powered off.
Talked to Sony, They said mail it in. Luckily AT&T has two warranty repair centers close by. Tech Guy tried to hard reset it (Did that a 1,000 times myself) Power + Volume Up until 3 vibrates. When that failed, he Overnighted me a replacement no questions asked.
Got the new one today FedEx from Texas. Just the phone, no cables or box. I have to return the Borked one in the container this one arrived in FOC. First thing I do is plug it in. It Charges While Off!!! It gives the classic battery level indicator if the power button is tapped! The LED glows green when plugged in and asleep!
TLDR: If your TL or any Xperia does not charge the way you are used to a phone charging, this is not a simple glitch. Your phone is likely to fail and you should take it in and get it swapped via Warranty. Try your provider first

Update: Have had the phone for almost 3 weeks and have not had a single problem! Battery percentage is correct, it will charge via any method, be it car/USB/wall.
Same problem here. I called them last night. Charged overnight, but when I got up, same issue. I'll call today and get another (my 2nd) phone.

[SOLVED] Dead Xperia back to life!

Alright, so I was clumsy enough to drain my Xperia SEVERAL TIMES.
Honestly I blame the software or calibration, but also myself, since it didn't shut down when it should.
The following would happen, that my phone wouldn't charge. No red LED, nothing. Then when it showed, after countless tries and different power sources, it finally did. It worked like 3 times. Then it started shutting down at 30%, then once when I was using it at 50%. All of a sudden. Since then, it died. It didn't charge, even after I left it for 2 days on the charger. I tried every week, but nothing would happen. Eventually the phone would start vibrating when plugged into the charger, and just die after exactly 30 minutes, every time, giving pulses of vibration.
I opened up the phone, disconnected the battery, and pressed the connector of the vibration motor.
When the vibration is non-stop, even whent he phone is off, it's because of a faulty vibration motor itself, or its connector!! I only had to press it and it stopped.
I left the battery disconnected for 1 to 2 weeks, I don't remember. When I felt the CPU cover, it was kind of electrocuting me. I put a paper between the black strip that leads between the battery and the motherboard, to which somehow the electrocution stopped. I left it charging for 2 days, with the RED led full on all the time. I gave it little hope, but I still pressed the power button mutliple times through out the charging time. This morning, te RED led was Dark Red, very weak. I pressed PWR + VLM DOWN and it gave a little pulse.
It's alive again! I let it charge to 100%, made immediately a backup, and I'll see if it will keep working. I will have to send the phone back to Sony anyway, as I think that the vibration motor will start acting up again as soon as I pick up the phone from the table (it's that sensistive yes). Also, I cannot leave the paper there, and I just want a full functioning phone. Only need to get the silicone glue strip from a distributor that I know so I can properly close it off.
I didn't send it because I needed my data, basically.
I would say, if your phone doesn't react to anything and you're out of warranty, it's worth it to keep trying to charge it, or take the shortcut and buy a new battery, open the phone and connect the new battery. It's really that simple. Otherwise, it might be your motherboard that's dead.
I hope this could help some future troubles of XDA's. Maybe make a new sticky, as this question comes along quite often?

[Q] My XperiaZ took a shower :D

So ...Friday night i got drunk and stayed in the shower for about 3 hours WITH my phone and car keys in my pocket.
when i started to sober up i tried to turn on the phone but nothing happened. First i thought the battery discharged and tried to charge it ...ok ...the led was working ..after a while i tried to turn on the phone again ... it worked ...but the screen flashed few times, the led was doing the same (like there was an imperfect contact) and the touch wasn't working either. Couple minutes later my phone powered off alone and the charging animation appeared ... no flashes , it seemed to be fine in charging mode aand the battery was 61% (so it wasn't discharged) ... tried few more times to power it on and gave up . I left it in my car in the sun until i got home.
I managed to disassembly my phone .. wiped any visible drops and put it in rice until 1PM today (more than 12 hours)
Today i put it back together. First try to power on -- didn't work ... i plugged in the charger and after few minutes the charging animation appeared, same battery status. I tried to power it on with the charger plugged in and it worked , when it was supposed to ask me for my PIN something flashed... i guess the notification led .. and the screen turned off.
After all this i tried a few more times to power it on ... but nothing. The only thing that appeared was the charging animation.
BUT the last time i plugged in the charger the notification LED turned RED (IT WAS NOT FLASHING). I pressed the power button and the LED turned off and that's it .... nothing since then.
I noticed that if i remove the battery and plug in the charger the LED turns ORANGE (i guess ).
I guess it's pretty bad...
Is there anything i can do ? Can it be fixed? What is the problem now ..?(fried battery maybe ?)

Sony Care in my country (Romania) seems to be a pain in the ass ..
My phone is bought from USA and i have wordlwide warranty ... I called sony some time ago and they told they can't give me warranty here in ROmania, they did not say why even more that lady even refused to tell me if there is any authorized/partner service in my city.
Anyway ...regarding the issue in this post .. I took my phone to a service ..they treated(cleaned or whatever) for water and oxide and it works fine now. No parts were damaged. It cost me like 20€.

Phone crashed, won't boot back up

So, 2 months ago I sent my phone off to be repaired after being water damaged, they replaced the motherboard all was well. So Locked Bootloader, no root.
2 weeks ago my phone was simply sitting on my desk when it decided to power down (at 80%), nothing would bring it back (no signs of life). I tried plugging the phone in etc. So i sent the phone to get repaired again, and surprise surprise, it worked perfect for them no errors found.
Recently received my phone back from the repair shop, turned it on (power cord plugged into PC) worked fine until i went into play store where the phone died completely again., tried hard restart, little yellow square restart button etc etc. Following advice from another forum I left my phone charging for 12 hours (no lights / vibrations) with no luck.
A couple of minutes ago i tried (because why not) to power it on, while unplugged it booted up fully, at this stage i saw it was at 13% battery and have it currently charging, with the amber light on and phone operational. Although i am still worried that going back into play store will crash it again.
Any ideas on what this is or how to resolve it?
