New 8T ro.boot.hwversion=19.39.0 problems - Redmi Note 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Seem's like there are new ro.boot.hwversion=19.39.0 is out. TWPR and some "Unified 8/T" custom ROMs detects such Note 8T as plain Note 8 (no NFC)
TWPR problem reported: https://github.com/mauronofrio/android_device_xiaomi_ginkgo/issues/3
Unfortunally thus bugs affects some custom ROMs too...

Custom Rom compatibility between N950F & N950N

Hi, basically I used This N950N for a year now, warranty is almost out.
With the consequences about Spay and Secure-Folder, I would like to flash some custom ROM to my phone.
I was playing with Nexus 6, so I know "Basic things" about custom roms and how to flash it,
but using "Samsung" phone seems like way-more complicated.
Since I know that there are two types of note8, Exynos and Snapdragon. Which are not compatible between them.(Because kernel stuff)
But for Exynos family, I hope they share common boards and chips, guessing N950F and N950N are compatible. Therefore I'm planning to flash N950F Custom rom to my N950N.
Will that work?? (Sorry for messy English though..)
- I am not asking about stock rom. I am asking for Custom ROM

Note 9 Fans with Root & Xposed . My Oneplus 5T switch

What root and Xposed Setup are note 9 960F Dual sim users using ? Oreo+Root+Xposed OR Pie+Root+EdXposed.
I managed to get root , magisk , edxposed working on Pie On March Security Patch. But the system became unstable after i restored titanium backup data restore. The SystemUI stopped responding frequently and after some troubleshooting i was not able to find a solution.I managed to use a stable system for a brief period of time and it wasnt impressive at all.
The second problem i faced is listed here (unable to setup IRIS,Fingerprint lock)
After a full odin flash , root , I failed in replicating root and magisk due to various problems like : unofficial binaries, etc.
I am thinking of sticking with Oneplus5T and selling the Note 9 . Oneplus speed and setup is addictive. I can live with the inferior hardware.
Before the switch i am thinking of trying root+xposed setup on oreo
How did you go about this? Using the old root methods listed in here? Once you have achieved installation of TWRP, you would be far safer to just flash one of the various custom roms with a good rep and go from there.
Are you on Snapdragon or Xynos?

I did not buy note 9 for using it with custom rom. Custom rom has its own set of problems. The biggest jolt would be a reduced camera app. My old phone would be better than a custom rom

He prob on 960F as 960U does not have root. Would be nice to specify what devices so people are not jumping in here thinking this is snapdragon.

He has a 960f
After using Note 9 for a brief period of time , i understood samsung devices are not for me. My last Samsung device was note 4 . The dual version performed horribly with 16gb memory. I can live with the inferior hardware of OP5T for now and will probably upgrade it with OP7. Oneplus opmtization is the best and its addictive. Also on note 9 i missed "Island " Android for work support. Even with all the modification i have on my OP5T its super fast.

Dualcamera still working with Custom Rom?

Hi, i own my Galaxy Note 8 now about 2 years and want to switch to a custom rom.
Previously i owned an Xiaomi Mi 5S and a Galaxy Note 3, after switching to Custom Roms there, i missed some Stock Rom features(like Samsung Camera App).
So my question, can is still use the zoom/dual camera feature with a custom rom or does it only work with the stock camera app?

Flashing a stock based rom keeps all the features (once you flash TWRP, Spay will never work again as Knox will trip, there are patches for shealth and secure folder though) If you flash a AOSP rom, ie lineage OS which is android 10, you will lose stock camera and all it's features. I can't personally tell you what the camera is like on Lineage OS, but it will definitely not be better than stock.

Question I'm Lost...

I bought the xiaomi redmi note 5g, and I am looking for custom recovery and they are all for the mojito version ... I have camellian. I don't know if you can put the TWRP of the mojito in the camellian ... Also I looked for official ROMs to update the mobile, none of them match the name that is in the version that I have installed:
MIUIGlobal12.0.3StableRKSEOUR
Model: M1203K196
Sorry if there is already a topic on this, but I am completely lost.
Thanks for the help.
Greetings!
I also recently got this handset as a bargain back up device. Only cost me €70 unlocked.
I believe there aren't any roms specific to this handset yet, as the kernel sources haven't been released yet. There are GSI roms, but I haven't looked into them too much, as I wanted a reliable daily driver.
no custom rom rom, only gsi. the twrp have toch screen not working. needs otg or twrp manager for pc. but for gsi installation fastboot is suggested. with stock recovery. the future of xiaomi modding are the gsi. also the new redmi note 11 serie come out with mtk processor.. so i'm quite sue that treble project will be the new frontier for xioni devices

[QUESTION] Kernel flash

I have my new redmi 9c 4/128 but i found out that it does not have the same hardware than other 9c's so every official custom recovery is not installing (not compatible), so i ported a twrp no i can install custom roms right ? no i can't because all the roms made for redmi 9c are not working on me because i have a different hardware i think.
I spent weeks searching for the solution and found this. My question is : Can i flash the kernel on my 9c ??? Is it safe ???? and if not, how can i install custom roms then ?
i tried like 5 garden custom roms compatible for my redmi 9c no one worked, i always get a black screen and a one frame green line on top (maybe the screen is different from other 9c ?)
i also tried to install the miui 12.0.10 and 12.0.8 i think both roms have a screen compatibility issue, (the brightness in the redmi logo is also really weak and fading to black, weird) they nearly broke my screen with lines that lasted hours even after returning to 12.0.21 .
After all my experiences, i really think that my phone have something different from others
