I find the stand by drain right on par with my Note 10 Plus. It was fully charged at 7 PM last night and this morning at 6 AM was at 95%. I installed Nap Time by Francisco Franco with a couple of adb commands for the aggressive doze features.

Went to bed last night at 1am at 100% battery. No apps are running, i have a bixby routine that puts the phone into power saving mode while not in use over night. Woke up 7 hours later at 8am and the phone had gone down to 93%, so it has gone down 7% which is 1% percent every hour being lost. Looking at app usage nothing was running in the background this entire time. Had my device for 5 days now so has gone through learning stage. This is ridiculous standby drain, is anyone else having the same issue?

Yes my drain is also bad. Are you guys running Snapdragon or Exynos?
I am Exynos unfortunately.

Can any one try standby drain after installing naptime? Let us know if it helps reduce the drain.

I'm using Naptime and I think it does help with standby drain. it is in the par with note10 at around 6-7% over night.

I run it all the timed. Here's a screen of my settings, I don't disable BT on doze as I have my Note connected to my Panasonic home phone.

For me it was much worse, about 3% per hour during sleep! I just deactivated VoLTE calls (and also the 5G just in case) and it's much better all of a sudden! Can you try this, maybe it's the same problem for you?

Motion smoothness is the culprit
I have been playing around with Note 20 Ultra (T-mobile carrier locked version - SM-N986U)
I turned off 5G (Connections --> Mobile Networks --> Network Mode --> Switched to LTE/3G/2G (auto connect)
But even with 5G off my battery drained this morning while only have google maps open 10% in 45 minutes!
All my apps that I frequently use I have gone one by one under battery usage and selected put app to sleep.
My power mode was at optimized with so I lowered it to Medium Power saving and that looks like it took care of it.
If I go back to Optimized but keep motion smoothness at standard then the phone seems to handle battery usage much better (this is all with sync on for email push).
It much more on par with my previous Razer Phone and closer to iPhone XR territory.

Amazing. Only discharges about 0.5% per hour. Thats with always on display turned on.

Wow..you could be the first use reporting this less standby drain..I have 1% per hour with Always on and 0.5% without Always on...any special tweaks you did to achieve this?

My mistake on this. My Always On Display is set to tap to wake only.
However to get best battery life possible with Always On Display set to be on full-time, turn off auto brightness, then you can manually set the brightness down the lowest setting.
That might get you down to 0.75% per hour, but I haven't tested that myself on this phone. However with my S10+ I did that and it helped a lot. Only downfall is you can't see Always On Display in bright sunlight. However indoors is usually still visible.

Got the phone (n20u exynos) yesterday at around 7:45 pm. It had 64 percent battery. Did the phone setup, sync and played around with dex. The phone got warm. Went to sleep at around 11:30 and the battery lasted me till today morning 6:30, with 2 hours sot. Don't feel its that bad. I also think it might improve further as it is still in the learning phase.

i avg .9-1.0% a hour with screen off over night..

Use Samsung Members app

if you're having an issue with battery drainage, report it to Samsung directly via Samsung Members app.

Snapdragon. Switch off wifi and normal powersaving mode with 5g still on.
7hrs sleep time, consumes battery 4%

I'm losing 4 % each to Google and Youtube, though the apps aren't running. I've forced them to sleep when not being used and hoping that will slow the drain. I'll have to wait a couple of days to see if that has helped.

About 4% for a 8.5 hours of sleeping, not bad [emoji6]View attachment 5097301

Battery drain over night

Hello, I'm new here. Coming from a Galaxy Nexus, and I'm impressed with this device already.
My question is if it's normal that battery drains around 4 or 5 % over night. I always turn off data, wifi, put it on airplane mode. I also disabled active display, the camera gesture thing and the voice commands.
I think it should be 0% drain :/

Zero drain is pretty much impossible unless you turn it off or own an old school Nokia

(Guessing 8 hours of sleep.) .5-.6 % per hour is great for this phone.
With data (not wifi), active display, gestures and voice commands turned on, plus a few root level changes like greenify, xposed amplify and freezing apps, I achieve around 1 % per hour at idle on stock 4.4.4. This usually equates to around 3 days standby and 1.5 hours of screen time for me.
(I am now testing lollipop... I'm at 1.5 days with 1.5 hours screen time, longer than normal talk time and 30% battery remaining.)
I don't even make it to a day lol. Usually I've to charge at night and then around 7 pm
Here is my sleep running r12 kernel. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59527748&postcount=811 And I don't turn on airplane mode or anything. That is just screen off.
Same problem here (Android 4.4.4, rooted).
Battery drain in flight mode (additionally also tried Moto Voice off, Active Display off, Data off, GPS off without any positive effects) is nearly the same as over the day when using the phone.
The fact that "Stand by" has 25% of all battery usage is a little bit perverted
I'm really happy with Moto X' battery consumption over the day. Normally I have to charge it every second night. But putting to flight mode at 56% when going to sleep and not charging it and finding it at 40% the next morning is kind of frustrating

From my experience the Motorola SoC has a abnormal high Standby battery drain. You can try whatever you want but you will not get below a certain level like on other phones. Perhaps the contextual cores are never turned off no matter if you use the feature or not, i don't know. At least it gets me trough a day...

Battery drain rating on Sony's Stock ROM is only average (0.7-1% per hour in Airplane Mode), no matter if (unrooted) Stock ROM or with Custom Kernel; 0.5% at best with gauge tweaks and other modifications;
AOSP/CM ROM appears to be excellent - 1% per several hours;
doesn't come close to my Note 3 (a few per cents per day) or even my Galaxy S1 with the original battery (2-3% per day), but that's no disadvantage of the Z5 per se
battery's technology simply wasn't allowed to catch up with progress yet
Something keeps my device awaken - not sure what this could be, as the Wakelock Detector and other apps that can show culprits require root to run on Android versions from KitKat and above. This causes battery drain when the phone is not in use overnight. Does anyone else have similiar issue?

it's most likely something else
or part of the kernel or deep within the system,
because blocking wakelocks does hardly have any effect
I find my standby drain to be terrible. I can leave my phone in my pocket, with all background app closed down and it still somehow looses 30% in about an hour.
You keep breathing while sleeping
I use GSAM Battery Monitor to keep an eye on things. After a few weeks I'm happy enough with battery drain levels.
It mostly depends on phone signal; if I'm at home the signal is very weak and this can drive the standby drain up to nearly 10% an hour, and the phone can get warm. But if it has better phone signal then the drain can be as low as 2% or 3% per hour.
I have my phone set to turn off wifi when screen is off. I also use a Notification area weather app, Messenger, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, etc and I have a number of email accounts and calendars syncing regularly so I would say I'm not running things in a lean manner. I'm sure if I uninstalled most of these apps my standby time would be spectacular, but then I wouldn't be getting particularly good use out of my smartphone.

Have you tried with BREVENT APP together with an aggresive Doze app (Greenify, ForceDoze, NaptimeX)? I´ve now installed Brevent + Greenify and standby during night from 100% "only" takes me 0,5% per hour more or less.
Also inside Brevent you have possibility to access to AppOps (be careful with this option).
I found that Bluetooth was causing massive drain on my phone. The fix which worked for me without turning off bluetooth (I like it to auto connect when I get in the car) was Settings->Location, then click the 3 dots menu in the top right and then Scanning, turn off Bluetooth Scanning. There are a few other things you can do as well.

wifi, advanced options, keep wi-fi on during sleep, and select never
ever since i have done this, i am doing a bit better on the battery front
also, went to dark wallpaper. that helped a bit to.
First, before taking any actions you should install a battery monitoring app and one for data monitoring.
After several days, analyze them to see if there is any app working and transferring data constantly around the clock.
Also, try to reduce the number of apps working (or updating) in background. For example email fetching (switch it to manually instead of auto fetching every x minutes).
I used gsam battery monitor but nothing seems to drain my battery. I could barely reach 2 or 3 hours screen on time

Stand by amazing like international s2 amazing when the phone locks and goes to sleep even with all the listening it's doing this thing is solid ur at 5 percent and u lock ur phone u can guarantee that it won't move for a few hours
Went to be with 93% woke up 7 hours later with 93%.
Night 1, went from 55% to 47% in 8 hours. Hoping this is an anomaly and it gets better tonight. It's not terrible, but not great either, and not consistent with other reports I've heard.
Mine is average 7-10% overnight drain. Have had the phone for 3 nights. Will continue monitoring

I noticed when my phone was not fully charged , around 94 percent , I lost 8 percent overnight . Gonna do a full charge tonight and see if another drain happens
From 11pm to 7am overnight the battery dropped from 90% to 80%
I tried with and without ambient for my standby average.
Without ambient it took 4% for 8 hours
With ambient it took 5% for 8 hours

I am a very light phone user, I went to bed at 100%, woke up at 100% , just now reached 90%!
I'm averaging a little over 1% / hour drain overnight. Looking at GSAM battery monitor, there's a small spike in battery usage at regular intervals. This even happened in safe mode.
So in other words, it doesn't hold charge during standby any better than other phones in this segment. My Honor 8 will only drop 3-5% overnight and it has numerous accounts set to auto-sync.

I tried Greenify and drain went down to about 0.4% / hour overnight. I'm not sure if the difference is Greenify or turning off Always on Display.
See my Screenshots below. That's what I am expecting from a standby behavior. When I'm done using my phone, there is almost no drain over a long period of time (like over night or during work).
How did i achieved this? I've disabled for certain apps the background app refresh, like on the battery consuming app Facebook - app keeps updating your timeline. ...or Whatsapp - app keeps downloading photos and text messages in the background...
All other pixel related features like always on display or playing now are still enabled. Expect OK Google, I prefer the active Edge activation.
I have also the newest official Software update installed with display color fix, (working) NFC buzz fix and November security patch. Build OPD1.170816.025
Always plug in over night, but in morning when I unplug, minor use for 3-4 hours still says 100%. NEVER got this good on my Pixel 1 or Nexus 6p. I have several push email accounts and background news, but ZERO social media apps loaded.

Same here and i was worry about the small battery in this phine but it seems it's better than what i expected.
100% at 11pm Las night woke up at 7:30am so 8 and a half hours later at 100%. Didn't even know that was possible. (No always on display of course)
Bug in battery usage stats
Just noticed an hour and a half after I unplugged my phone that the phone showed "13 min since last full charge" and the phone showed "100% battery life", thought it didn't make sense as already had about 20+ minutes of screen on time and was using Bluetooth. I restarted my phone and found the battery was at 98% then within a few minutes drained to 95%, but when I restarted it the battery stats showed "last full charge 0 minutes ago".
I'd guess if your batter is showing 100% after a few hours of use, the battery is miscalibrated rather than having super low drain.

Question [Help] SOT

It is my second day with the phone. Exyons version. I charged it 100% and left home at 5pm and here were are 11:40 pm 21% with 2hours 44 mins SOT
How?
4g enabled about 40 mins
I only used camera, google maps, a little facebook and uber.
Bluetooth enabled for the watch and the buds.
No wifi. No nfs.
Adaptive refresh rate and 1080p resolution after it dropped to 60%.
What have I done wrong?
This is very similar to my situation but I have snapdragon version my SOT is not that good get about 2-3 hours with 8 hours of use. I already resetting my phone once I'm currently still going through the learning usage pattern after my reset. Hopefully it improves because I'm hoping that my phone is not defective.
I thought about resting the phone but I have already downloaded about 20gb of games :/
I will wait couple days to see maybe the phone is still learning usage pattern . Please keep us updated if SOT got improved with you
I sincerely advise you to do a factory reset, don't restore any data (except stuff like picture and video) and start again installing apps, don't install everything, just the necessary and check the battery, you will see a big improvement.
start from there and then look at the difference.
different apps can behave differently.
And of course put anything you don't constantly use to deep sleep in battery setting!
I did it and my battery now is totally fine.

Question for you. What is normal battery draining for you. For example, if you leave your phone over night usually how much percent does your phone drop. And how long does it take your phone to drop by 1% obviously this last question depends on what app you're using but ideally on average how long does it take your phone to drop by 1%. The reason I'm asking is Because I kind of want to gage how my phone Is performing compared to others. Thanks!
Yea what's been said above, don't use smart switch and give it about a week to settle in, you will genuinely see an improvement.
Put all apps you don't use regularly/ need notifications from in deep sleep. If you have crap signal at home turn on WiFi calling. Turn off nearby decide scanning in connections.
If you're still struggling after a week, download GSAM as it gives much more detailed stats
I lose around 0.5% an hour overnight on standby

on average I lose 0,6-0,7%/h when the screen is off and an average of 10%/h when the screen is on.
fhd+, bt with smartwatch, location off, mostly on wi-fi (when I'm on wifi I use a Bixby routine to turn off data and switch to 2g but I don't think it makes much difference), lots of apps to deep sleep but not apps like whatsapp telegram and gmail.
anyway, everything depends on your specific use and apps installed but I can say my battery life was half than now when I restored my settings and apps data using samsung stuff.

FHD+/120hz/5g off/smart things off/ everything else normal
Overnight loss is about 2-3%
From 100% to 99% withing 3 minutes after wake up in the morning. That's turning screen on checking Facebook, or browse news.
My Huawei P30 pro would go 99% probably after 30 or 40 min of morning browsing
iPhone 12 pro max I am testing now, stays 100% for about an hour fr a wake up, that's browsing internet social networks

To measure battery loss from 100-99 is meaningless. The last several generations of the iPhone have behaved like this but clearly this has no real meaning, Which is more accurate? From that clearly the Samsung is the "least worse". To stay at 100% for an hour is absurd. BS calibration. Similar for the P30 Pro. Overnight loss of 2-3% is par for the course (I lose -using GSAM Pro - 0.6% per hour overnight which is probably very similar to you) So ignore a 1% drop in 3 minutes. It is just a matter of calibration.
Edit - added per hour re the 0.6% to clarify.
iOS is lying about battery percentage. If you see 100% it's in 100-95% range.
Anyway, it has more efficient deep sleep.
Yeah. Shouldn't the battery only be at 100 while it's plugged in? Cause as soon as you unplug it, it's obviously using the battery juice...which means it's no longer at 100.
I'm not sure if these Temps and cpu usage are normal, which I don't feel like it's normal, but every time I pick up my phone My phone is just running at 100% cpu usage. Granted I already reset my phone two days ago and got two full charges in. And my battery says it's still learning usage pattern. I'm not sure if this is part of the learning usage pattern phase.
