[Help] once again my mi a2 is bugged out - Xiaomi Mi A2 / 6X Questions & Answers

So, i decided to get back to stock rom on my mi a2 since the pixel experience rom i've installed was very glitchy (i blame the method i used back than because i didnt have even root on it, but i admit the pixel experience rom was very nice!) but then i decided to install the stock rom so i could have a backup phone with no bugs, but only with root. so i installed the stock one (android version 8.1 / and 5 of august 2018 security patch update) but when i go to fastboot so i could boot it with twrp for example, it give me this error...
https://imgur.com/AYVIWL4
and it shows this on my screen too...
https://imgur.com/a/d4BQJAd (press any key to shutdown)
what can i do?

Bro what are you doing ?
Put TWRP RECOVERY image in adb folder and give name recovery.img
Then :
fastboot boot recovery.img
Then:
Inside twrp flash boot to boot partition by selecting install img or just flash magisk 20.4 zip by using adb sideload
adb sideload magisk.zip
( put magisk zip in adb folder and give name magisk.zip )
Also select adb sideload under advanced button. ..

okay i tried what you said but it gave me this error after i fastboot the recovery.img, https://imgur.com/a/vMPVjvZ , and it shows the same error on my device

Which method did you use to install the stock ROM?
What version was the stock ROM before modding? As far as I know, from Android 9 Pie there's an Anti-RollBack protection.

Just unlock the bootloader again ..you probably flashed stock and somehow locked bootloader ..
Fastboot oem unlock
Fastboot flashing unlock_critical
If that doesn't work you need to google "test point" for mi a2 and physically open your phone using video tut ..then you enter edl mode and flash stock rom using miflash and start over from 0

[Q] About to unlock, unencrypt, root, and rom! please check if correct

I bought a nexus 6 on google play and I am on verizon. It is currently running 5.0 LNX07M.
Could some nice fellow please tell if if this is correct?
1. download wugfresh
2. download drivers
3. tick usb debug, oem unlock
4. unlock bootloader
5. flash no force encrypt
6. root
7. Trwp
8. Get Chroma/ or any other 5.1.1 rom and flash with gapps?
I'm espeically concerned if it is ok to unlock and root a 5.0 nexus 6 and then use twrp to flash a 5.1.1 rom. Should I first update the phone to 5.1 or something?
1. download and install adb/fastboot
2. boot into the bootloader and plug in via USB to your computer. depending on what your computer is running, it could download and install the driver by itself or you would have to.
3. fastboot OEM unlock unlocks the bootloader.
4. reboot and back into your bootloader.
5. flash twrp recovery
6. flash your custom kernel and SuperSU for root via twrp recovery.
7. only if you want to decrypt, format your storage. if not, just reboot.

if updating the official way, go to 5.1 then 5.1.1. but if updating via custom ROM, it doesnt matter, you can flash 5.1.1 over 5.0
IMHO,
1) download Android SDK or minimal fastboot and ADB or 15 second ADB and fastboot installer
2) connect to PC and reboot to bootloader
3) from command prompt:
fastboot devices
(Serial number shows up)
4) From command:
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot reboot
5) Download the latest TWRP recovery for shamu
6) Boot back to bootloader and from command (having placed the TWRP image somewhere where fastboot can find it i.e. in platform tools in SDK) also rename it to twrp.img
Issue the command:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
(Be careful to not have it list the file ext. twice. Windows names the file ext. by default. Example: twrp.img.img
After recovery flashes, from bootloader, use the volume keys to select recovery mode and press power. Your device will boot to TWRP.
Make a backup!
Next, download SuperSU zip and flash with TWRP.
Congratulations, you are now stock rooted and you can choose any ROM you like and flash with TWRP. Follow the instructions carefully from the ROM OP and profit.
It may look complicated but trust me, it's not. The longest process will be after you unlock the bootloader. Your device will wipe completely so backup anything you'd rather not lose forever.
Remember, a 32gb Nexus will take 10 to 15 minutes to wipe and reboot. A 64gb will take 20 minutes or more.
The benefit of doing it this way is you know exactly what is happening to your device, unlike a toolkit. Also, you just learned something! Plus, if you get stuck somewhere and end up soft bricked, you'll understand what and how when someone here tells you how to fix it.
Thank you guys for your responses ! I think my laziness is going to win me out this round so im going to use the toolkit. But next time, I will do the correct way!

Hi,
you can try this:
Copy the downloaded recovery image (.img file) to the folder where you have placed your ADB and Fastboot.
Launch terminal (or command prompt on Windows).
Navigate to the directory where you have placed the ADB, Fastboot and .img file together.
Shut down your phone and reboot into boot loader. For nexus devices, simply hold volume down + power to start up the phone.
Connect your phone to your computer.
On terminal (or command prompt) window, write fastboot boot <img file name>, e.g. fastboot boot twrp.img.
Your phone will restart and will boot into the recovery mode.
Hint:
use adb reboot bootloader in CM13 to reboot into fastboot bootloader

Mi 9, can't instal twrp

Miui Global 10.2.30,
So I have a problem with install twrp,
I unlock bootloader normally but I can't flash twrp and i don't know how to do it,
after I try to fastboot flash recovery it says that the cant find it or when it does the phone cant load recovery, any help?
I do it with this tutorial https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-mi-9-unlock-bootloader-root-twrp-magisk/
Make sure you put recovery image into adb/fastboot folder (directory where you use command promp), or input whole path where you have recovery image (harder way).

[HELP] Softbrick After Updating Magisk 21.2. Boot Into TWRP, But Touchscreen Not working.

So after updating Magisk 21.2 using the recommended option in the Magisk app, the phone will boot to the ROG logo screen and just stuck there.
I downloaded the twrp-3.5.0_9-0-I001D.img from TWRP website, then used 'fastboot boot twrp-3.5.0_9-0-I001D.img' to boot into TWRP, and managed to fix the softbrick with one of the function in TWRP (forgot what it's called, i think it's one of those functions under 'advanced' menu), but i didn't install TWRP.
I was then able to successfully boot up my phone, and decided to install Magisk 21.2 again with TWRP. So I downloaded Magisk-v21.2.zip and copied it into my phone, booted into TWRP again using 'fastboot boot twrp-3.5.0_9-0-I001D.img', and installed Magisk-v21.2.zip, and my phone was bricked again.
So again, I used 'fastboot boot twrp-3.5.0_9-0-I001D.img' to boot into TWRP, only this time the touch screen doesn't work.
Is there anyway around this ? or anyway to fix the touchscreen?
Thanks a lot in advance.

try using the correct unofficial twrp from here (there's one for pie and one for android 10 - Q).
Perhaps your magisk version is corrupt - as a complete guess... could try re-downloading it. Did it flash without error?
Another possibility is that twrp has to installed for lastest magisk to run, again, as a guess. I think i read somewhere that it's the other way around - that if you have twrp installed/flashed, you must also have magisk installed in order to boot. Perhaps it works both ways
EDIT: by correct I simply mean the correct version for your android version...

Hi ! i did a different approach when i updated my magisk to V21. i'm on firmware 2012.65 so i downloaded the firmware update from the official website for our phone.
your firmware version could be different so use your firmware's boot.img version.
* extract the firmware contents
* using payload dumper to get the boot.img
* transfer the boot.img to internal storage
* open magisk manager , install and click patch a file
* select the boot.img
* transfer the patched boot.img to the same folder together with your adb&fastboot environment
* boot the phone to bootloader
* using minimal adb and fastboot
* enter command " fastboot devices " make sure your device is listed
* get the current slot ; enter command " fastboot getvar current-slot " you should get A or B and remember which active slot is default
* if it's A or B either of the two enter command " fastboot flash boot patchedboot.img "
* if coming from the active slot A enter command " fastboot --set-active=b "
* if coming from the active slot B enter command " fastboot --set-active=a "
* then flash the patchedboot.img again ; make sure you flash the patchedboot.img on both slot A and slot B
* then go back to the default active slot ealier if it's A or B using the command on the top
* lastly enter command " fastboot reboot " then check if you're rooted on magisk manager.
you should boot without any errors if you follow correctly the procedure.
note : no need for TWRP on this procedure.

Question RECOVERY BOOTLOOP

Hello guys!
I am having a problem updating my current TWRP (version 3.52 came from one youtuber) to TWRP 3.6/OrangeFox.
I carefully follow steps. Even extracting my own rom boot.img just to flash it in accordance to said step. I successfully flash the said recovery but when i reboot to system or power off. It just keeps booting to recovery. Hoping for some enlightenment. Thank you!
1) you did not say what steps you did, or which tutorial you followed
2) what do you need twrp for?

Reboot your phone into fastboot mode
Download Blank VBmeta and flash it using fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
Next, download TWRP .IMG file and flash it using fastboot flash boot IMAGE_NAME.img
Reboot into recovery mode (fastboot reboot recovery)
When booted into recovery, reflash stock boot.img (Install -> Install Image -> Select stock boot.img -> “Flash to: Boot”)
Next, go in Advanced -> Flash current TWRP and swipe to flash TWRP.
Reboot and enjoy!
That's the instruction given in a thread. I followed it but no luck. Keeps rebooting to recovery.
cant say if it works or not.
for rooting its better patch img and flash.
