Is there a right time to install GMS on a brand new device? - Huawei P40 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

I'm about to get my P40, should I install normally (use Huawei tools to transfer my apps and data) and then install GMS?
Or should I proceed in and order?

I think its better to try to get GMS first, because you may need to hard reset..
After GMS is working you can restore apps and update the OS

Hi,
A factory reset of the device will bring back any system and pre-installed app that you might have uninstalled.
Cheers

Help - Uninstalled Magisk from Android P (Pixel 2 XL) Still no Google Pay

Hello everyone,
I've uninstalled Magisk 16.1 from my Android P firmware (Pixel 2 XL).
Thing is, even if it's uninstalled I still can't use Google Pay.
https://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2018/26/6/1530382189-screenshot-20180630-200734.png
I installed Magisk without installing TWRP, I just used the fastboot boot xxx-twrp.img with unlocked OEM
Now I relocked the OEM firmware, new fresh install but I still have the error message, it drives me crazy. What can I do to get a fresh firmware again ?
Thanks!

Check if your device is certified
You can check that by going to Google Play > Settings > Device Certification
Hello, thanks! It's uncertified. What should I do ? Factory reset ?

If you have Magisk, the solution would be to use Magisk Hide on Google Play store and then reboot
And if that didn't work, then there are modules that will do the job and fix the issue
If you don't, then your solution is to revert back to stock ROM and factory reset
My playstore is now certified, thanks evertyone!

Google Pay

I need advice with GPay to be working after Bootloader unlock.
I have new MI9, like long user of Mi series (last Mi Note2) I unlocked Bootloader, uploaded TWRP (the only one that worked was TWRP 3.3.0-0423 for Mi9 by wzsx150 - big fight with TWRP ...) and uploaded MIUI xiaomi.eu_multi_MI9_9.5.1_v10-9.zip.
Everything works fine for me, only Google Pay is a problem. Anytime I try to add an card in app, I got message that phone is either rooted or modified and cant proceed due to safety reasons.
I checked all forums and nothing works or I do something wrong. I tried this:
1) delete in DATA / DATA / com.google.android.gms - the folder will appear again after successful deletion
2) Magisk manager install - App is working correctly, GPay has been added to Magisk Hide and all Google Play Services folders, but still GPay not working
3) follow guide on https://forum.xda-developers.com/Mi-9/how-to/xiaomi-mi-9-firmware-twrp-recovery-root-t3922158 and install PrebuiltGmsCore.apk and then Google pay Patchfix. I stopped , because PrebuiltGmsCore.apk cant be installed
I do test with SafetyNet Test and it does not detect any problems.
I tried several times to delete Google Pay data as described on some forum. This does not help also.
Does anyone know how to get out of it? I don't want to go back to stock ROM and lock the bootloader ...
Thanks for any advice
Did you 'clear data' for all the Google Play/Pay/Framework services apps after you installed and configured the Magisk GPay module & MagiskHide settings and rebooted ?
Yes, I try many combinations. Like install GPay and Magisk then, reverse, delete data of GPay and install Magisk etc..

I have the same problem. Please someone help!
Install Magisk and add Google Pay and/or Google Services in Magisk Hide list??
All done

Hi
Any update for this issue ?
I've also tried to solve this problem in every conceivable way, failing miserably at it. It seems that you may or may not get GPay to work after deleting the gms folder, but the problem always reoccur after a while. It seems impossible to get GPay to work permanently with an unlocked bootloader on the Mi 9. Sad but true.

I set up google pay on my girlfriends phone 2 weeks ago and it's still working fine. You must be doing something very wrong.
i opened my bootloader and cant get google pay to work. I am using the PFAEUXM stock rom
Just for the fun of it, I took the steps that Xiaomi demands in order to await bootloader unlock. There is no lack of warnings to make you understand that there may be a risk that sensible things like GPay will stop working.
I didn’t unlock.

How to install google services on Huawei P40 pro plus (ELS-N39) running EMUI 11.0.0.151(C636E2R1P3)

I've been trying to install GMS on my Huawei P40 Pro Plus phone but was stucked at the part when I tried to start the app with the big G logo. It says it does not support this firmware. I then tried to downgrade using HiSuite, but could only downgrade to 10.1.0.179. I am unable to install GMS on either version so far.
Does anyone know where I can find solution for either of the above version? Alternatively, could someone tell me how to downgrade to an even older EMUI version (HiSuite does not allow me to go down to older version)?
Many thanks in advance.
You have to go down to 10.1.0.144, then install gms, after that go to 10.1.0.179, then go to 11.0.0.151

There was a way you could downgrade to 10.1.0.132 using "firmware finder for huawei" and "hisuite".
I've done it before and it worked flawlessly.
The only problem is that firmware finder for huawei doesn't seem to have firmware anymore. It shows all firmware versions but when you select it, it comes up will a message that says firmware was deleted from the server.
I'm also currently trying to downgrade.
If you could help me get firmware version:
FullOTA -
" ELS-LGRP6-OVS 10.1.0.132 "
Or even Dload -
" ELS-N39 10.1.0.132 (C316) "
Then I can downgrade myself and help you out step by step to downgrade as well.

I am using the the same Firmware version.
Reset phone
Agree to all (Location, and data gathereing stuff)
Dont log in to Huawei account.
NO SIM installed
WIFI connected.
I also make sure all apps have system write permissions.
Install googlefier
Go to APPS, and Verify permission. Make sure it has no denied.
Everything goes fine down to the G Assisant .
I restore G fine.
before I run., I verify permissions. It has Denied storage default.
Run G app gives a incompatible device. Doesnt download anything.
I use Googlefier to install MicroG.
Verify POermisssions in MicroG
Use MicroG to create Google account
This works fine.
Use Googlefier. to install rest of apps.
Google account is still here.
USe googlefier to uninstall MicroG

Check before uninstalling that the google account manager is installed successfully. If this is not the case re-try.
The only reason google account do not stay is if GAM is not installed.

I verified the account manager, even going into the system and Apps, to verify it had full permissions.
Has anyone been able to get this to work? I am going to try this method. I am running 11.0.0.190. Is there a version I should try and downgrade to? My device is els-n39 any help would be much appreciated.

Did you successfully install GMS on a P40 Pro with EMUI 11? I saw from the backup folder that it was for a Mate 30 Pro.
I did it for P40 Pro+ and yes the backup is from Mete 30 Pro. This backup will install the blue G icon app on the handset.

Few Questions about root

I have red mi note 9 with android 11
If I root my phone delete all apps and I need install again?
In future can I install oficial software updates?
Thx in advance
If you try to uninstall any system app, you can damage your system and brick your device.
After rooting, you need to install updated manually by yourself.
