Unlocking Bootloader on Verizon LG V40 after Android 10 update - LG V40 Questions & Answers

Hello All:
New here, apologies for possible duplicate posting. I am wondering if anyone has been able to unlock the bootloader on a Verizon LG V40 running android 10. It should be easy: turn on USB Debugging/OEM Unlock and run your adb/fast boot tools. ...However I have noticed OEM unlock has been removed from the developer tools menu. Has anyone found a way to unlock the menu w/o the OEM unlock option present?

[Q] xt1072 bootloader unlock

i have the uk xt1072 4g is it possible to unlock bootloader as when i try it says device not qualified for bl unlock, and when i spoke to motorola they looked at the unlock data and said the moto g 2nd gen 4g is not supported yet for bootloader unlock?
any help is appreciated as phone feels useless with locked bootloader i just want to achieve root access
My device cid is 0x007 which i should be able to unlock
Here are a lot of XT1072 users with a rooted phone. As this is only possible with an unlocked bl the statement of motorola canĀ“t be true.
If your cid says "able to unlock" it should be able to unlock. Is it a retail phone? Have you deleted all the seperators in the key before pasting it to the motorola page?
Maybe look for a XT1072 user here on XDA and ask if he has any problems.
Yh should be straight forward so annoying pretty sure im entering key correctly not sure what issue is

It is unlockable, try to copy every line manually and make sure u don't have spaces somewhere.
I have a similar issue with the xt1072 (0x007). Motorola says it is unlockable and I got some unlock key but if I want to unlock the phone with fastboot oem unlock KEY it is not possible to unlock. There is a message: unlock not possible enable oem unlock in the developer menu. But there is no option in my developer menu for enabling oem unlock.
Is it possible to get the developer menu option back or to enable oem unlock on a other way?

I resolved my issue with first doing a factory reset, see www_androidpit_com / how-to-factory-reset-the-moto-g-2014 and after that I have this options and unlocking the bootloader works like a charme.

Unlocked bootloader ??

So I've read over the general LG g4 forum that the T-Mobile version has an unlocked bootloader. There's so many post over in that thread now that I don't remember, but someone mentioned that under Settings> Developer options , they have an Enable OEM Unlock. Now here's my question. Since we have that option on our sprint version of the LG g4, what exactly does that do if enabled.? Like does it have to do anything related to unlocking the bootloader?
Sprint LG G4
We can't even get into fastboot. I've tried and failed. I don't think the Unlock OEM option does anything except for disables device protection features.

FRP unlocked but 'OEM Unlock' still disabled

Hi there,
I bought me a new Huawei P9 a few month ago and installed the android 7 update first. I also unlocked bootloader (fastboot oem unlock <key>) and in the fastboot menu phone and FRP is unlocked. Every attemp to install a recovery like twrp e.g. failed. I get the black/orange boot-message that I cant trust my device because its unlocked. Navigating to Developer options and took a look onto the OEM Unlock entry: Its disabled and grayed out. Any ideas what to do? My main target is just to root that device...
Please help me
Best Regards,

oem unlocking non persistent on g6

Hello I have a new Moto G6. I have enabled developer options and I've enabled OEM unlocking. But it doesn't seem to stay enabled between reboots? I just bought this yesterday. I'm trying to unlock the bootloader, but I can't unless OEM unlocking stays enabled. Am I missing something? I know there's currently no root for the G6, but still I think I should be able to unlock it, or am I mistaken?

That just allows the bootloader to be unlocked. You still would need to actually unlock it following the unlocking guide thread in the guides section

Yes I know this is not root, this is just unlocking the bootloader, yes I do have a key from motorola. But I can't do anything if OEM unlocking will not persist between reboots. I'm just trying to unlock the bootloader. And yes it is unlocked for sims.

I said nothing of root. Unless I am missing something from your original post, "Allow OEM unlocking" just allows the bootloader to be unlockable. After you tick it, reboot directly into fastboot mode (not back into android, that'll untick it again).
[GUIDE] Unlock Bootloader - This states after enabling OEM Unlock in settings (from within Android) to reboot into the bootloader (This guide says power off and then power back on while holding volume down, if you have debugging on you can just "adb reboot bootloader"). Rebooting back into Android with the bootloader still locked I believe does untick the OEM Unlock option.
ok thanks, I'll try again.
I have the XT 1925-6 US unlocked version. One of the first things I do with a new phone is to enable Developer Options and toggle OEM Unlock even though I may not Unlock the Bootloader right away.
The OEM Unlock toggle has stayed persistently on through numerous reboots with the Bootloader still locked.
Hmm.. Well I could have sworn I had seen what was described before, however it has been a while. I unlocked mine all in one go so I can't say. If it's supposed to stay on then I'd really be curious why it isn't for jloh

I tried it again and it worked, thanks. I guess I rebooted android at first. Thank you.

Bootloader (OEM) unlock.

Hello, yesterday as i was browsing Developer tools in the settings, i came upon a new options they seem to stealthily added sometime ago, OEM Unlock. Just a switch and Bootloader got unlocked. A bit too late since nobody developed any roms for this device.
That isn't how bootloader unlocking works. That setting only allows you to enter the unlock code while in fastboot mode. In the end, you still need a bootloader unlock code to unlock it. I am certain the switch has been present there for a while now.
