Update (Image grain improved): Gcam with ULTRA WIDE and TELEPHOTO support it's here! - Moto G Power Themes, Apps, and Mods

Last Wichaya Gcam support auxiliar lens without root in some devices. After trying on my G8 power I could say work really well with macro and ultra wide lenses. You only need to download the APK, install and activate it on advanced settings. I don't know why in telephoto mode use the ultra wide instead, but works well, so it's ok for me, for 2x zoom you got hi res zoom incorporated on any Gcam. When you change to any different lens the app was rebooted and can't do this if a image it's processing.
XML settings supported too.
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog1311/

Update: video mode works with macro and wide angle too, but don't expect stability when wide angle it's enabled. You need to change lens mode before.

Update: The new Wichaya Gcam Update now allows you to manually change the ID of the secondary lenses, so it is now possible to enable the Telephoto lens on our G8 Power (Disabling Macro), also the lens shift buttons work properly (0.6x for Ultra wide, 2x for Telephoto). To do this you can do it manually or using my XML settings file which has all the necessary configurations to work both the telephoto and the ultra wide angle, plus it's configured by me to achieve a better picture with each of the lenses.

Camera comparation
You can see Here a comparation between Stock camera and Wichaya's Gcam with my settings.

It's cool that finally we can use the additional cameras with the Google Cam app. I see much more noise (although better detail too) compared to the default Moto app and the Parrot ROM. Did you have any success in that regard?

Have you seen my photo comparison? After changed one by one the settings of the three lens the results are clearly superior in every way. If you are using my XML go to settings and enable the lib patcher, cause it's this that correct and apply the changes what i mention and don't it's auto enabled when charge the XML.

Update
Added 2 more photos to the Photo Comparation Album showing how the 4X Zoom works (Telephoto + Gcam's 2X Super Res Zoom)

I agree with the noise comments. The Wichaya camera has WAAAAY more noise then Parrot and Stock. I loaded the g8p-by-mikael1013.xml XML, and took a picture, and compared it to PARROT, and STOCK. Below are the results.

FYI - Arnova's GCAM allows you to do the same thing, but this one allows you to use ALL lenses. Wide, Main, Macro, Tele. Arnova's GCAM allows you to switch between lenses so much faster, without the annoying camera restarts. The only problem.. is that in VIDEO mode, there doesn't seem to be any software stabilization.

Thread updated with another Gcam port with better noise treatment
Following users opinions about the grain treatment by Wichaya's Gcam I looked for better options with same multiple lens support, that's how I found Nikita Gcam. This Gcam allows to change between lens with better response, better grain treatment, lib patcher and custom libs. If you want to try my personalized settings use this XML File who it's tuned for better color and detailed photos.

This is a good one also... only problem... video stabilization for Video is not working.
Wide angle lense is also very grainy compared to stock. But after going through 15 different gcam ports... every other one is the same.
Main lens in this port looks very good!
Try changing lenses while a picture is processes. The HDR message stays on the screen and won't go away. Even when exiting out of the cam.

I spent quite some time trying to tame the wide angle lens noise. Still the stock camera beats it . BTW there is a new version from Nikita but it doesn't seem to improve the grain or the lack of video stabilization.

Sorry guys. Maybe I miss something. Does this app support Moto G Power (sofia)? I checked the link and found it's not on the list.

The versions listed here do work with the sofia even if it is not listed on their website.
The latest version of Nikita GCam works but the only version of Wichaya's GCam that works with my phone is the 2.5 version listed here. The newer versions of Wichaya's crash and close when I try to switch lenses.

I don't have Nokia 6.1 Plus anymore because the USB port is broken. And after I claim the warranty, I gave it to my dad. (because the official service center takes too long to fix it.)

Anyone tried latest one.
I have also tried nokia7plus version. Viewfinder hangs on night mode
Is any developer there who can develop pixel 3 camera in accordance with our Nokia 6 .1 plus.
Since 6.1.0.13, no other app has been stable n give good pics.
The latest one by back.rider (optimized for Nokia 7 Plus) is actually stable enough to use as daily driver.
My Observation -
Detail is way more than what Nokia camera captures.
Device heat is more contained.
App by back.rider issue
Screen goes black on night sight mode
CStark27 NoHex GCam port
This is a GCam port by cstark27 that i use as a daily driver on my phone.
Everything works including night sight(which BTW works frickin flawless):fingers-crossed:
Since, this a NoHex target port, the camera has some optimisation to reduce the usage of the SoC which means, lesser heat and lesser battery usage than other ports.
The in-app animations also feel significantly smoother than the other ports(subjective).
It is stable enough for MY daily use cases. But i don't know about you. You test and see for yourselves if it fits the bill
The 2 cons that I face -
The AF data/Info cannot be removed from the screen yet. It isn't a biggie as it takes only a very small space on the viewfinder and is barely visible when clicking photos.
It needs a few tweaks from the user's side to unleash the full potential of the camera(I'll post the tweaks i've done, if theres interest in this port)
Pls tell ur tweak.
BTW i am using arnovag2 recent camera apk. Its good. But it has slight reddish tint on night pics

Open Camera, go to settings, Noise Reduction
Activate both Front and Rear Camera and click on Noise Model
And change noise models on both camera -
Code:
[b]Change this for both front and back camera[/b]
Custom Sensor Noise offset a - 1125
Custom Sensor Noise offset b - 11250
Custom Sensor Noise scale a - 1694300(default)
Custom Sensor Noise scale b - 90900(default)
Change libs to Xlib V2 Increased Sharpness
And now go to adavnced and change these settings -
•HDR+ Base Configuration - Pixel2017 ZSL HDR+
•Turn on alternative config for Night Sight(Flash Availabilty)
•Enable Remove Zoom
Thats it. Now you'll get noticably sharper photos.

Manual focus to infinity results in blurry pictures

Hi everyone,
my p30 Pro seems to have a limited manual focus range, in particular when pushing the cursor to infinity.
When I point the phone to something very far away the autofocus works well, the resulting picture is perfectly sharp.
Now if I switch to manual focus and slide the cursor all the way up, I can clearly see a difference ! It seems to be occurring only when using the main 27mm lens.
Here is an example. Left manual focus, right AF-S :

I just updated my phone to .161, the problem still exists. I am pretty sure it is software-related as the AF works perfectly, but I didn't find anything about it through the internet.
I also tried with another app, 'HD Camera Pro', which allows to manually set the focus and it is still the same.
Any ideas ? Am I the only one ?
If I remember correctly, this "bug" was already present in the P20 Pro's Software last year. The work around was not to drag the slider to the right completely but leave a little wiggle room (like, focus to 95% of infinity). You could try if it still works.
Yep I read something about this, it happened to the Pixel 2 also if I am not mistaken ! Sadly it doesn't work for me, my focus isn't past the limit, it just can't make it to infinity ... and beyond
Could some people please try to reproduce this on their p30 pro ? If I am the only one (which I hope to be), I'll ask for a replacement of my unit ...
Have you checked if its ok if you stop short before hitting infinity?

Yes I did ! Here is the test :
The first picture is with Autofocus.
The second one is with Manual Focus, with the cursor all the way up to the maximum.
The third one is theoretically the exact same focus level as AF, as it keeps the setting when you open the Manual Focus Tab. So this one was 2 little graduations before the maximum.

Thank you ! I feel relieved in a way, at least I'm not the only one  So, I guess it is indeed software related.
Thing is, it happens with other apps I tried (HD Camera Pro, DeepSkyCamera), so I reckon the issue exists at the camdriver level...
Anyone managed to get around this issue? It's really annoying when I'm trying to take multiple pictures of the night sky, I cannot fix the focus. Auto focus keeps changing it between pictures. (I'm using an intervallometer app.).
Is there an official Huawei site to report bugs.
Thanks.
I tested this on both p30 pro and P20 pro with latest 9.1 patch, if you drag the manual focus to the top it lose all focus on both devices . So it's software related.
This is a common "issue" with lenses. AFAIK all DSLR and mirrorless lenses behave this way, no matter the price tag.

I have this problem too, I thought my phone was damaged! Autofocus gives a clear image but manual doesn't go far enough out. It happens in Filmic Pro too. Kind of disappointing that this bug exists in a phone designed around a cutting edge camera system. And why can't we use wide angle in manual mode? Or disable the EIS?
I had a LG V20 before this and it's stock camera app was soooo much better.

And if you use wide angle in Filmic Pro it is far wider. They need to give us an option to disable EIS.

What is the difference between the different versions?
I will prepare a collection of photos from Camera app and gcam. From my observations it's 50/50 which means that some are better on Asus and some on Google cam. From what I see is that in very difficult conditions - like against direct sunlight - Google makes more pleasent photos, but Asus is generally brighter and in shadows keeps more natural colours. In dimmspaces Google keeps the colours as they are, however.
Most of the times during day theres no visible benefit of google. Also HDR+ takes much more time to shoot. HDR is quick, though.
I've read on zenfone 7, that is possible to activate the 64mpixel. I tried all IDs, but no-one works. On zenfone 7, the write that I'd is 6
ID 6 crashes the app so it does not work.
After todays photo session I can say that the gcam is not an upgrade. In most cases stock camera is better. Actually looking at the app versions it seems that the stock camera IS Google Camera with some slight adjustment.
If the sharpness of the stock cmaera could be slightly reduced to avoid pixelation it would be perfect. Maybe some manual log change will be possible for that.
I have created a folder with various photos from the Zenfone 8 taken on the stock camera and on the gcam.
You're welcome to take a look and compare by yourself - all data and an easy way to differentiate the cameras is the "info" where gcam has PXL_ in name and stock has P_

In my opinion the stock camera is generally better and produces more true to life outcome. It is a little bit to bright and the sharpness in details is a little to big. You can see that only by zooming in. This can be overcome by shooting 64MP which happens quick but the size is bigger.
Thank you for your contribution, nice photos!
From what I can see, the gcam has more sharpening and saturation, which I like in photos.
But I prefer the HDR management of the stock camera, I love how it captures the clouds.
Is there a way to adjust contrast and saturation on the stock camera?
Yes and no, there are no options for that but you can slightly lower the brightness during the photo taking with a slider onscreen. That makes them a little more like gcam.
I have also noticed that HDR on stock is really nice but it softenes the image and destroys edges. With no HDR it super sharp.
Also stock wide camera has almost no distortion where gcam is quite round on edges.
New photos added to the album. The latest update seems to improve HDR very much. It's now better than gcam in almost every case.
thanks for sharing your experience, for me most of the times the gcam pics look much better on a calibrated monitor.
do you know if Face retouching and night sight are working with this gcam version?

I saw that selfie camera, during night, the HDR doesn't work properly. But also the stock camera, all selfies in the night are very cheaper quality :/
Edit: I put the selfie camera with "pixel 4 settings", it works now!

I saw that gcam make miracles, especially with selfie camera, during night. HDR work perfectly. All lens working properly.
This gcam freezing after 3 seconds, but i can take pictures, while changing lens. We need buffer fix, for make it working? or existing some config file?
Thanks
4k/60 fps doesn't work with gcam, is saved as 4k/30fps.. Would like to use GCam for filming because it has much smoother zooming while recording, in the default camera app the zoom is very choppy.

* Thanks To Wichaya For Another Great Mod
Awesome thank you very much! This is what I've been desperately searching for since I use LineageOS and there was no support for multiple cameras.
Thanks for working on this!
Is wide and tele camera also not working on your OPO 7 Pro with this GCam mod? I installed the Wichaya APK including the .XML from this thread and wide as well as tele cameras are not working for me at all (black screen).

Very strange. My screen doesn't look like that. It looks like the attached photo. I installed the APK (the Snapcam version) and the XML from the OP. Am I missing a step? Notice also that I only have two flash modes, on and off (no auto). The camera works just fine, but something doesn't seem right.

I can provide the same screenshot but this is no evidence that wide and tele cameras are working!
Choose on of these cameras and test it. You will nothing more see than a black screen for each

Um, that's what I'm saying: mine doesn't look like that. Same Snapcam APK, same XML file, LineageOS 18.1. Look at my screenshot. Flash doesn't have the "auto" setting, and the slider says "0.7x, 1x, 2.2x" instead of "Wide, Main, Tele." That's my point. Maybe I missed doing something essential when I installed the camera? Is just putting the XML into GCam/Configs8 enough, or is there an additional step? The camera works, but it's not matching what you're showing.
EDIT: Never mind. I dropped back from 8.1 to 7.3, and things are now working just fine.

Pretty strange. How to get the wide and tele cameras working? When I click on them I only see a black screen.
Might there some problem with the European version of the OP7 Pro and this camera mod?

Although I see,
now that I read the previous posts,
there are no problems with LineageOS either.
Thanks, after deinstallation and installation of the camera, now also wide and tele cameras are working. Yesterday I also updated manually to the most current version of Oxygen OS. This might also be related to the problem that wide and tele cameras weren't working before hand.

Question RAW/DNG on the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra

As far as I have seen in the stock camera app RAW/DNG is only supported on the main 1x camera module.
This is a real pity because in my opinion the results from the stock camera app is really bad.
The underlying hardware is able to achiev so much more.
Up to version 8.3 ProShot was able to access all camera modules and capture also RAW/DNG images.
In version 8.4 the access to all modules is broken for the Axon 30 Ultra.
The developed images are so much better than the JPEGs out of the stock app.
Especially the 35mm equivalent module (they call it 2x) is phantstic with a huge amount of details: sample on Flickr
Camera2 Probe only detects the main camera (main 1x).
OpenCamera also detects only the main 1x camera.
All GCam mods I found that work can see only the 1x and the 5x module.
Does anybody know another camera app that is able to access all camera modules and can capture RAW/DNG?
I also tried many Gcams but all have the same issue ( only 1x and 5x are available )
I found a litte tool on a telegram GCam channel (NGCam) in form of an APK based on this code here that reads out camera data (I think via Camera2 API).
From the output it gets clear why typical 3rd party camera apps see only the front and the main back camera and the other three modules (0.5x, 1.2x and 5x) reamin invisible to camera apps.
This is in my opinion a very problematic approach as we are forced to stay with more or less bad stock camera apps that do not justify spending a lot of money for so called flagship devices.

GCam is not typical camera app (like OpenCamera). GCam seems to query the modules like the tool I used the overview does. The typical camera apps only seem to query the visible camera IDs.
For some reasons the Samsung GW3 sensors are not working.

I hope some developer will fix this
Arnova or BSG for sure could do
With version 8.4.1 of ProShot the access to all modules/lenses is restored again an with that the ability to capture RAW/DNG images on all four modules on the back and with that to get the most out of the hardware the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra includes. As I am in the beta program there I am not sure if this version is generally rolled out yet.
Not as great as if one of the GCams would support all moduls/lenses but something I can live with very well.

Thx a lot for the information
When searching for an app to capture CinemaDNG I found the free MotionCam. The app detects all camera modules on the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra and is able to capture RAW/DNGs. Also RAW video for later processing in DaVinci Resolve can be recorded. The workflow is not easy but it is a very interesting opportunity.
Also image bursts can be captured that can be developed to a single image with a lot of settings to control the result. This result can also be preserbed in form of a DNG for later processing.
One drawback is that not all the meta data (EXIF) is written to the resulting files.
Some samples of developed images from MotionCam

After the official OTA Android 12 upgrade all four camera modules on the back work fine in GCam (before the two Samsung ISOCELL GW3 sensors did not work, the 0.5x and the 1.2x)
