Is Redmi 9 connecting (seeing) Wi-Fi 5GHz networks? - Redmi 9 / Poco M2 Questions & Answers

Hi everyone,
I am about to purchase this phone, but I couldn't see the "ac" standard under WiFI (it is on gsmarena, but not on the local reseller website). Can someone confirm (or not) that Redmi 9 can (or can't ) connect to 5GHz networks via WiFi?
Thank you!

According to the official Website. Yes, it's support 5G wifi.

Thanks! I also went on mi.com and saw that, but I was wondering if anyone actually tested this.
Oh well, I guess I'll see tomorrow if it does, I took the risk and ordered it yesterday (green version).
I'll come back with a definite answer.

After some testing, I can now confirm that Redmi 9 connects to 5G WiFi network, and has a high speed ( 280 Mbps). This matches the results from a 2 year old flagship, that's good enough for me.

not in the Indian version
It does support 5Ghz wifi but not in India. Everywhere else it does.

Maps 4.4 navigation disabled??

Just updated to the new 4.4 maps and navigation for Canada seems to be disabled again. Anyone else having this problem??
I just updated my google maps to ver. 4.4 and Navigation is working fine for me. You may want to completely uninstal and reinstall the app see if that fixes your problem.
Works fine in the UK.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I think it's a software switch on Google's side that's misbehaving.

Were you under trees? If so, the GPS on most phones is not sensitive or accurate and tree cover will greatly throw it off. Stand out in the open, not near any trees or large buildings, then compare.

Looks like he's trying to have it locked while in the building - which might also throw it off.

LTE in the MI3 !!??

Hello everyone,
I just came across Some threads where they said that some of the MI3 have the MSM8974 which has LTE modem so I checked mine and it has the MSM8974 one by using "QPST configuration" and found this
{

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
so i continued looking around so i found this thread which is made to unlock other bands for the opo and he used "QXDM pro" to change some values so i tried using it and found that there is actually some LTE config values like this
So Does it make it possibly to make the LTE work on our device !?
and anyone else could verify that they got the same ship MSM8974 !?
and i know that this is nearly impossible to do but who knows
I also had done some research on this matter and I found out that mi3 is not lte
They changed the motherboard which is actually MSM8274 NOT 8974...
You can check it yourself by using atutu benchmark.....
Some people even say that xiaomi have cheated us but the fact is that they never said mi3 is 4g to begin with

So why the qualcomm tools shows that it's a MSM8974 because that sounds weird
but i guess the only thing that could prove this or no is to rip off the device and check the chip directly
Also Cpuz shows that it is 8974 I don't know why...
But there is no way to use 4g bcoz there is no proper hardware (antenna)

as the lte config have no value i may try to input some values to test out but it's risky i think
No matter how much you tweak with the system how can it work with missing hardware.... ?

[HACK] T-Mobile Users: Enable Volte(B12) on Mi Mix

Thinking about picking up a Mi Mix to use on T-Mobile (found a good price for one)
To the brave could you give this a go and let me know if this enables B12/VOLTE coverage on your device.
I'm aware of only 2 and 4 working. To anyone in Philadelphia what kind of speeds are you getting?
I know in some cases T-Mobile has to certify/sign off on a device for support but some unlocked/foreign devices I've use have work without T-Mobile having knowledge of it.
Below are some steps to those that are rooted; Give this a go and let me know below if it works or not.
Thanks

I'm currently on EU 6.11.0 and it has VoLTE enabled by default but no B12 as my office is in the basement with no signal. Phones with B12 normally would have 1 or 2 bars in my office.
I installed SQL Editor and went to the location of settings.db but nothing is in the Database folder

You can create it within the settings than enable/toggle it.
Since you have it already in the settings I don't know if it will make much difference. Won't hurt to try.
no luck sorry

Also on T-Mobile & same results, nada with SQLite, VoLTE was enabled by default, noticeable in the notification bar upon booting the latest EU ROM Update.

WiFi Speedtests - WTF is going on? All results very slow.

I've been using my X527 for a few weeks now, it's a nicely built phone and very snappy in general.
During the past week, I've noticed that my Speedtest.net results are terrible....

Same thing if I use speedof.me website - very low results.
Now, if I do a speedtest on my ZTE Z958 Zmax2, I get full speed on the same network, sitting in the same position.
Any ideas what the problem is?
I'm on this ROM:
Battery life is also terrible, shortest life of any phone I've owned to be honest!

Well I thought I would upgrade my ROM tonight and managed to mistakenly press the wipe date icon in Chinese and now have a stock 16s X527 again!
But after doing a factory reset and losing all my data - I'm getting full Speedtest results again....?
Time to think about getting that ROM upgraded now lol

In the Netherlands we use a Cell Broadcasting system called NL-Alert.

I have really no idea how to change this.
Thanks in advance!
Greetings from Amsterdam!

What is your software region? Did you de-brand your phone?
I work in the Cell Broadcast industry and in many countries the broadcast channel is pre-set by regulation trough Cellular Operators. You might need to check this with T-Mobile.
I am from the netherlands also and using tmobile/tele2 and on my p20 pro it did work but last msg i got was on dec 3rd.
Received 2 nl alerts yesterday, on tmobile no issues

I think 3rd of December was the last test day for NL-Alert. They do it now twice a year. Would you please be so kind to look, on which channel you are (4371 or 919).
Thanks!

Search in English for "Emergency" and in Dutch for "Nood" in de system settings and you will probably find it!
