Working GCam for UI 2.5 - Samsung Galaxy S10 Questions & Answers

The 2.5 update broke GCam (snapdragon). Anyone know of a recent one that works?

But I'm so happy that I can use my Nova Launcher now

Urnyx's 7.3 v2.2 and the associated configs should work.
I'm using Nova Launcher though, as a heads up, but whatever version I had prior was not even launching on Nova Launcher.

Do you know if the wide angle camera will work? I couldn't get it to work. Same with Arnova's new hot fix beta for 2.5. Which of the 4 config. files are you using with the SD S-10 and Urnyx's 7.3 v2.2?

Oof, yeah I just noticed now that front facing nor wide angle is working, only the back camera.
If anyone figures out which configs work I'd be happy to know. Also, GCam automatically loads configs from "GCam/Configs7", right? In the past I remember having to choose a file.

By double-tapping on the front-rear camera button, I was able to achieve both a normal rear and slightly wide-angle camera shot. It appeared to be a restricted wide-angle shot showing a little more in the photo, but not a regular, wide-angle shot if that makes sense. It did offer me a choice of .xml files. It wouldn't recognize them from my configs folder. I had to create a configs7 folder and move them into it.
Anyway, here is the link for others that want to try it. Better than nothing I guess. Color has to be set to auto in advanced settings or pictures will come out purple.

Same here. No working front-facing camera on any of the Gcams after the UI 2.5 update. Also, lots of crashes. Forced to use the Scam a lot of the time uuggghhh. Hope there is a fix soon.

Cyanogenmod Users, tell us about the camera app you are using

We all know z2 has a solid stock camera app. But on cm and cm based rom we cannot use it
So what are you guys using it? Any comparisons of photos taken with different camera apps? And how do photos compare to stock rom? Do share your experience
Im using stock camera app, but Pictures Come a bit too bright for me. Could anyone recommend any good camera app?
It doesn't matter what camera app you use really, as CM (and all AOSP ROM's) use the same camera driver, and Kali used a hack to get it to work using Z1 code (don't know the actual term) so... It will always be substantially poor compared to stock. I know this thread isn't actually a comparison between the two, I'm just stating the facts and eventually I'm sure Kali (or another Dev) will fix it and use proper Z2 cam code. Then, we will have a truly next to flawless AOSP camera and ROM.
I'm just using Google Camera for lack of a better one. It's not great but it gets the job done.
The camera on both stock and CM give the same result. Its only the post processing that the stock app does that changes the result.
For testing, install Google camera on stock and click pictures. Do the same on CM and compare your results.

Hey hey try out this Camera  It looks exactly like the stock Nexus 5 camera and it is the best I have tried. :victory:
Tip: The Google Play Store will view it as the Google Camera you are using and will ask for an update , I recommend you not to do it
ENJOY !!! :good: :good: :good:

Just a quick tip guys, I had issues with low quality photos in CM11, I tried ProCapture app and in good daylight the pictures turn out to be good and as good as stock, in low light you'll have to tweak the settings a bit but you can manage to get pretty decent pics. SO yeah, for the benefits CM11 gives, I can completely live with it by using a third party app
I see that MIUI port has stock XZ2 camera. If so, is there any way to use on CM11 as well? Any tips?

I have a stock camera (4.4.4) and I am not happy at all with my camera. :/ Most photos are not clear, landscape mode takes bad photos (one part of the photo is good/zoomed, biger part is blur).
I heard some stories about Z2 with good camera and Z2 with bad camera, can thia be true, although it sounds ridicilous.

Agree.. I tried cm11 snapshot m12, All pictures of mine turns out too bright. The front one especially pixalated with weird coloured dots like a 0.5mp camera which I used to have when I had an old Nokia phone. Other than this, cm is a perfect rom.. Hope there are still development on this while with all the hype on lollipop(not sure if the camera code will get better by then)
I recommend the OnePlusOne camera! It's faster, more organized in terms of menus and I think that the image quality is little bit better because of the filters used... :good:

Moto X camera for One+

Hi, if anyone wants to try the Moto x camera for the OnePlus here is the link . I don't know if I can post it here. I did not make this apk , thanks to whoever did. It works very smooth, its very simple and I think the autofocus works much better then stock One Plus camera.

Maybe it can´t be installed when using ART?
Works for me on CM11 nightly, but the pictures look pretty bad. Not surprising, since this is Motorola we are talking about.

I've found the moto camera to be better than the Opo camera. Or any other smartphone for that matter.
Works great on Nameless! Thanks!
I installed it but there is a problem. You can only take normal pictures. What I mean by that is like... you cant change it to Night View.. or turn HDR on/off... aqua view.. and so forth.. Camera works but the settings are not changeable.
Coloured line??
I also have the "no settings" thing going on and on top of that there is a white/yellow vertical line while i am taking photos.
But i still prefer this camera app over stock camera app.
Simple point and shoot. Does take great pictures though. Nice find!
Anyone have the latest motorola camera apk working on our phones?
any improvements comparing to the stock camera app?

[Q] alternative camera app

So based on you're experience which camera app would you suggest? I am kind of shocked to find that the camera app is so slow. My Blackberry Q10 is very quick compared to my Turbo.

I really like the Google camera app.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.GoogleCamera&hl=en
Unfortunately on the turbo it still does have some lag. Hopefully that will be fixed with future OTA updates.
The main thing I like about Google's app is the option to take photosphere images and panoramas. I know the stock camera app does panoramas but Google's app allows for much higher quality images.
I have taken some really awesome images using this app.

Latest, 3.6.7 with permissions removed. Definitely works for me. Maybe restart too - sometimes it seems like camera apps can lock another out.

Do you see this as well on your install?
Yes, those resolutions are correct for the Turbo camera (even though they say a lower MP).
The 5248x3936 is the same as the full 21mp (Standard) mode, and the 5248 x 2952 is the same as the 15.5mp (Widescreen) mode. Assuming that this is what your asking?
Exactly what i was asking. I figured it was cosmetic. Just wanted to be sure.
I will the first update might have sped up my camera. When I left the store it was slow, as I read about. Next day I searched for updates and got one. My camera is normal now. The only issue I notice is swiping to pictures from the camera, it swipes right away, then the screen "blinks" real fast. Might try a different camera to compare though.

Yep, other than the resolution displaying wrong it worked good too. I ended up installing the moto camera+ and taking a bunch of samples to compare the two, found it to not take any better pics than the moto camera + with the settings unlocked.

GCam for S9

So I was looking through all the current GCam builds, by that I mean all those modded ones, and I think I found the best one for Snapdragon phones. https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/cstark27_GCam_5.1.018_24_v3.6.apk
The Pixel2Mod one is the best, but requires a device whitelist to work. So, you know, it takes time.
@Arnova8G2 could you please add starqlte, starlte, star2qlte and star2lte
I think those are correct.
The one you posted crashes completely on my S9 Snapdragon. It works on yours? It won't go anywhere past accepting permissions.
The one I have that works is named gcam_5.1.018.177470874.41362666_SG7Exy_V8.2.apk. Looks like it's for an Exynos, but at least it runs.

I did a quick spin around looking for Gcam.... man, there are a lot of options! (and opinions)
This thread here has a 'stable' one with HDR+. And an additional one which is the 'best' for portrait.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/pixel-cam-hdr-s8-exynos-nougat-t3729169
The v8.2 one I referred to specifically is from the S7 forums, here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s7/themes/google-camera-portrait-mode-t3736859
I just installed a few but haven't had any opportunity to really test them out much. Phone is not my daily driver (yet?).
I installed one that is working but makes the phone very hot. Uninstalled it with away.

Odd this doesn't work on my S9+. Wonder if the telephoto lens is screwing it up? Is everything working for you including portrait? So far the only thing I see wrong with Samsung's stock app is in low light, it gives off reddish tint.

So it works on s9 but not s9+ for you too? @mweinbach. Check my gcam thread for s9+... also pm me your google hangouts ID if you have one
Hope someone ports it soon. I loved the GCAM on my note8. Sold it and bought the S9 thinking that the GCAM port would work on this too. Samsung stock camera is nowhere near the colors and the dynamic range of the GCAM.

Did u get my message? The miniuser work but is heavily tinted in various condition, especially day light it goes blue. I was able to fix white balance settings to take great pictures in low ambient lighting.
I will try it

What is the latest Google Camera version that works on this? (Exynos)

I tried lots of ports and different verions, even those that were made explicitly for the Note 9, but i can't seem to be able to take photos with any of them.
It "takes" photos, but all of them just result in a black image, top to bottom.
It doesn't happen with one version in particular, it's consistent on all of them.
The viewfinder works just fine, so do most modes, even HDR+. But it can't take photos at all.
@Myrmeko
Not sure if this camera app has the functions you would like to use, but have you tried the Open Camera app?

The latest one works just fine, but the photos look pretty bad. Night mode gives that pink vignette that was the problem on the HTC One M7/M8/M9.
I wouldn't recommend using it, tbh. You're better off using the stock camera. Or if you really wanna mod it and you aslo have root, just buy Zero Camera Mod and support one of the developers here. You can tune every Samsung Camera parameter with it.
