This is a stable final build from the work I've done to this phone while I've been using it since my daily phone broke and until I bought a new one. Don't expect too much updates of this since there isn't too much stuff to fix, besides the crDroid team doesn't merge the newer security patches since months!
I also know that there is another thread for crDroid Nougat, but that's for an old build. This ROM contains all the source & device trees that has been made since then (and no, you can't dirty flash to this).
Needed firmware stack:
B895 (TWRP flashable)
B896 (TWRP flashable)
Known issues:
SELinux is permissive.
Watching videos at 7[email protected] is laggy on YouTube -> see them at 480p instead.
Use MagiskHide to pass SafetyNet and Google Play Store's certification.
Disable Wi-Fi/Bluetooth scanning in location's settings in order to fix deep-sleep issue!
Encryption.
All the other stuff not mentioned above -> working!

What is this new ROM based on? LineageOS? AOSP? Supporting Substratum? Better kernel and less latency?

crDroid is based on LineageOS, and yes, it supports substratum themes.
About battery... I felt that it was slightly better than with LOS, but not a huge difference. For such an old battery, I would suggest using Greenify in order to save battery and processes in RAM. With Greenify, I could do about 4h15mins of screen, which I think it's not bad (I've only used this phone about a month, I bought it very cheap in a second-hand shop, maybe I bought a phone with battery ****ed, who knows...).
I also made few modifications to the existing kernel that helped watching and recording videos with less lag

What is the best Viper OS or this ROM?
Note: I don't trust Lineage OS based ROMs anyway because as far as I know they don't fully support substratum themes and sometimes they don't work at all.

Hello,
so I have installed this rom and I like it so far. It is really fast and smooth, even better than stock rom and LineageOS (which was laggy). Only problem I have is that NFC is not working. So is it just me or is it generally not working in this rom?

They're different phones.
If you've flashed other alice ROMs and booted on your device, it's ok.
If not (the most possible case), then it's no use flashing this ROM.

Volte is not supported in any cm based ROMs. As fast food sensor goes if you have the fpc one then it should be fine. Don't know why WhatsApp keeps crashing for me.
Thanks to Shivam Kumar Jha,this Custom ROM for Redmi Note 3 SD is Working Great with Gapps [i flashed Nano Gapps] ,no Force close apps ,only thing VoLTE is Not working and finger print scanner for unlock screen will work most of time and some times it wont work
Some screenshots For users
I have to report two bugs:The first it's the -2% bug,the second is when turned off and put to charging but doesn't appear the classic charging screen
How much CAF is in this AOSP?
What exactly comes to this ROM from CAF? Audio, Camera libs?
Everything works perfectly, except VoLTE. I can live with it for the sake of AOSP clean rom. Many many thanks to the Dev.

XOS is a new generation Android-based cutting-edge OS based on the Android Open Source Project and Code Aurora Forum releases.
What is XOS?
halogenOS, also known as XOS is a new Android ROM which ships with the global aim to
become a modular ROM which keeps as high as potentially possible operating
performance on your mobile device while still maintaining a sufficient feature
base of nice, small and minimal features that would not be available via any
external feature base, extension, mod or plugin.
We hope you have a truly halogenified experience!
Internals of XOS
At core, the ROM is composed mainly of components from the
Android Open Source Project (AOSP) and Code Aurora Forum (CAF),
with extremely minor set of components from LineageOS (LaOS or LN) which
have been added to source in order to allow for better cross-device compatibility.
Our LOVE to others
A huge thanks goes to those behind the AOSP and CAF, the LineageOS Project and all of its
contributors for the sources used in the development of the base ROM which we
started with inclusive of all the work and dedication their team puts in order to
keep us updated on the awesome contributions that they make.
We will be keen on ensuring that we be up to date with the code from our base sources,
with regular ROM updates hopefully coming from time to time.
Please do not ask for ETA's (else you shall be spooked by Mr Skeltal). Almost all of us are
students, and with the current lifestyles and routines we have, it is not that easy to acquire
time to develop the ROM, though we'll be sure to keep you updated and release OTAs as
soon as they are available and ready for publication. If you want to be really updated quick,
then join us on Telegram: http://telegram.me/halogenos
Visit our website for features such as: Downloads, Information etc.
http://halogenos.org
Although no data should be lost or damaged by the flashing process,
we advise you to follow the following steps if you are coming from another ROM:
Code:
* Please take a full [I]Nandroid[/I] backup!
* Please copy your back up to an external device.
* Backing up your [I]Internal Storage[/I] is also recommended.
* When completed, [I]clean flash[/I] the build!
Although you usually may dirty flash halogenOS over other ROMs, considering the other
ROM is built upon the same Android version, it is not guaranteed.
In case of performance issues or crashes please do a clean flash.
You can dirty flash halogenOS 7 (Nougat) over halogenOS 6 (Marshmallow)
without any problems. Although we cannot promise that it will work for you,
although we don't recommend it, we can tell you that this has been tested.
Overall as a ROM, XOS is very stable. Our mission statement has always been of maintaining a clean and properly maintained ROM.
We take proper priority with ensuring that performance and stability are put first, features are considered an extra topping on the cake.

[3] We do not ship 3rd party EQs or other [I]crap[/I] you may sometimes find.
Our sound system is completely clean and thus provides great soundmod
support if that's what one really wants.
[4] Enabled via FFMPEG & additional codecs.
[5] Vulkan is available if the chipset/SOC's GPU supports Vulkan.
Installing for the first time
Code:
* Download the current version of XOS for your device.
* Reboot into a compatible Android Recovery solution. (Note: We recommend TWRP)
* Wipe [B]'/system', '/data' & '/cache'[/B].
[I](Optional: For `Dirty Flash`, do not wipe anything)[/I]
* If you are coming from the EMUI 5.x other than the latest one, then first flash RROS with custom Vendor by OpenKirin team.
* After that again boot into recovery and factory reset.
* Select the appropriate ROM zip and flash the current ROM build.
* Want Google Apps? Obtain and flash the latest GApps from http://opengapps.org/
* Flash any other system modifications you may want e.g. SuperSU/phh's SuperUser.
* Reboot.
Manually updating the ROM
XOS ships with an OTA updater built-in which should automate the downloading and flashing process,
however should your wish be to manually update the ROM, you should be our guest.
Code:
* Download the current version of XOS for your device.
* Reboot into a compatible Android Recovery solution. (Note: We recommend TWRP)
* [b]Please do not[/b] wipe anything, including Cache/Dalvik/ART, the ROM has you covered.
* Select the appropriate ROM zip and flash the current ROM build.
* Reflash any system modifications e.g. SuperSU/phh's SuperUser.
* Reboot.
You do not need to wipe Cache/Dalvik.
You do not need to flash Google Apps again*.
You do not need more than 5 minutes.
* Just make sure that you don't wipe system before flashing.
Screenshots
Currently right now, halogenOS will only include the stock Android theme.
We may one day decide to use a custom theme as soon as that theme is working perfectly fine.

AICP
Android Ice Cold Project
AICP is known by everyone as the "Ice Cold Project" that started on a Desire HD years ago (2012) and since then has evolved into a mature ROM with the BEST community that you can find!!!
Until Android Lollipop, the ROM has always been based on AOKP. Unfortunately, since AOKP stopped development (but made a comeback later), we changed our base to CM.
With the re-brand of CM to LineageOS (LOS) we became LineageOS based with some tweaks from AOSP and we are now based on the "Ground Zero Open Source Project" (GZOSP) for Android Pie.
If there are any bugs, either we will sort them out or the GZOSP team, if it concerns their code base. This ROM isn't GZOSP supported, so there is no need to report errors/bugs to them!!
Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* We are not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications and if
* you point the finger at us for messing up your device, we will laugh at you. Hard & a lot.

Google Apps: INCLUDED!
You tell, please provide logs when requested...
Q. How do I get a logcat, what type should I get and more questions that can conveniently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A1. Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog (Root needed).
A2. If you are already rooted, you can use the built-in feature to make a logcat and provide that. Just look into the others section in the AICP Extras main page.
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android Pie. You don't need to install any Add-on's, simply download the latest ROM, flash it and go!
If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", you can flash a root solution of your choice after the ROM zip. We recommend Magisk!
It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing if you're coming from a different ROM and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug. Once you're on AICP you can dirty flash new builds without wiping anything, unless stated otherwise!
How to flash for the first time:
(Again: Don't do it if you don't know it!)
If you've got everything nice and backed up:
1. Fastboot -w (not usually necessary, this will wipe data and internal as well as format to ext4 and remove any encryption).
2. Fastboot flash boot "twrp boot img" (depending on firmware, you'll need different twrp images. If August and prior, use the official one from twrp's website. Otherwise, use the F2FS TWRP image linked here - https://mega.nz/#!ewZTWaJB!xHe-_sV2hdbD6t6YAgeaHBASG5ecIfNqmaNVpqZZtlY).
3. In TWRP - wipe System, Data, and Dalvik.
NOTE - Its recommended to format to F2FS file system at this stage. However, not necessary!
Change filesystem: Go into Wipe > select Data > Change Filesystem > F2FS
4. Transfer the ROM zip and the TWRP installer zip to your SDCARD.
5. Flash the ROM zip and the TWRP zip (FYI, flashing a ROM by any method will install to the opposite slot, the TWRP zip patches both slots).
6. Reboot to recovery (Reboot > Recovery), ignoring when it says "No OS Installed" (this will automatically switch slots for you).
7. Back in TWRP - transfer the latest Magisk zip to your SDCARD and flash it. (Magisk always installs to the current slot).
8. Reboot to system. It will fail to boot once because of Magisk, that's normal just let it do its thing.
9. Go through setup.
10. Enjoy the ROM!

-------
The ROM has Gapps build-in, you DO NOT need to flash them. The root solution (Magisk) NEEDS to be flashed after you flash the ROM zip and TWRP zip then reboot recovery to switch slots.

Yeah it seems to be a known issue with all custom ROMs at the moment.
The same as the OK Google integration.
No fix anywhere yet from what I know. If you NEED those functions I advise to remain on Stock for the time being.
Some Questions about the ROM
Is there a way to adjust the touchscreen settings input response? seems to lag when scrolling
Is VoLTE working? (I have AT&T and works fine on my stock AT&T Samsung S8)
Is wifi calling working? (I have AT&T and works fine on my stock AT&T Samsung S8)
thanks in advance

I had updated my post. Any recovery with vendor support or any Android 10 arm64 should work. It's always recommended doing clean flash, e.g. full wipe when you switch between different ROMs. You may still try to do keep your data partition, but please don't report any bugs until you can reproduce them with clean flash.

Greetings from Ukraine, @suzver.
Thanks for reminder, I had added changelog to second post.
Thanks for this awesome ROM,its smooth n fast.everything works perfectly without a glitch.what I did first was changing orangefox recovery to op unofficial twrp via team win apk, without formatting it shows error in twrp n flashing with magisk it did boot up but to twrp again n flash again without it yes it works.I m okay with less customizations.BTW I m using official open gapps nano.Hats off to you.
What you mean by wipe vendor partition"s"?
I understand that I should wipe system, data, cache, dalvik, vendor?
Well, a huge disappointment can't flash lineage-17.1-20200628-UNOFFICIAL-rolex.zip at all. I'm using miui 9.2.6.0 and twrp that you posted. Can't wipe vendor because it's not showing in wipe list, so I'm wiping rest. It's says flashing was successful, but gapps giving error 30 and tells me my android is 7.1.2! Something is wrong. I'm doing clean flash from miui. It's not installing at all, so OS is broken or twrp posted. You tried that twrp?
EDIT: Yup it's twrp thing, i used another that allowed me to wipe vendor, and gapps now flashing. Sir, next time better check please.

Thanks for report, @michal778 and sorry for that. I don't remember where I got recovery that I had on my phone. But I found a recommended recovery on 4PDA, I had uploaded it to the same dir on my server and updated OP.
I had double-checked that I get working LOS 17.1 + GApps with it, by flashing MIUI 10.2.3.0 via fastboot first.

When coming from stock to this ROM or one of the other Lineage-based ROMs, yours prompts for a pre-boot decryption password and crashes on attempts to encrypt, while the other doesn't, using the apparently included default. That includes upstream TWRP releases.
Any data I could supply to help get FDE working on this? Might be useful for your other 11/R-based ROMs, if this occurs on them, as I haven't checked.

I know, however I actually find forceencryption valuable, in spite of it's shortcomings, and the linked Lineage 17.1 ROM makes it work (and makes TWRP work with it, too). The solution I would be looking for is not to disable, but rather support it.

Seems to be squared off in upstream. Since there's no official support for MSM8917, if you're tracking changes from a different device's tree, which device is it?

hi, i've been testing this rom, and i haven't been able to make it work with my sim card. The official rom works fine, and other sim cards from other vendors work fine on this rom.
I tried flashing the official firmware fw_rolex_miui_HM4AGlobal_V10.2.3.0.NCCMIXM_69d07208fd_7.1.zip, but I couldn't get it to work either.
Lineageos 17.1 doesn't work either.

Update your recovery to the latest orangefox recovery which has 4.9 kernel
Wipe data vendor system cache and dalvik cache before flashing the rom
Restore perisist backup (look for redmi 4a persist backup if you don't have)
Hi. I've been having a problem with this new build. After a while, after waking up the phone from deep sleep, I can't open any app or phone setting. The apps just stay loading. Programmed tasks like alarms don't work, either. I have to reboot the phone every once a while as a workaround. This problem was also present in Lineage OS 17, but it didn't happen with Thagoo's older LOS 18.1 build on Telegram. Maybe it's due to the new blocked wakelocks?
