Casemate clear fron Verizon
I have had experience with the clear Casemate case from verizon for a few days now. Its probably the worst case ive ever had. Terrible design, uses adhesive to adhere the front screen piece and easily come off with any pressure against it. Rear case holds just fine but is incredibly thick and changes the device into a boxy phone. Needless to say save your money and get a different case

Cool, thanks! Let us know how you like any of the ones you order.
I was thinking a possible case idea would be a rear TPU case that adheres with adhesive, but then has an extended flexible rubber that overlaps the screen edges. Then you could fold back the rubber when you want to swivel. Just a brainstorm, not sure how it would work in a practical use.

Just pulled the trigger on a case and protector from a Korean website (GMarket)
https://www.reddit.com/r/LGWing/comments/jeb6mn/just_bought_a_voia_case_and_screen_protector_from/

Just received my case from design skin I got the LG Wing Mix Two Pocket Card Case - Black/Yellow so far I like it way better than the case I got from Verizon that one was the worst case I ever got especially the front cover I think came off so easily.

Just got the Spigen case. It's a hard plastic case and it stays on using sticky pads. We'll see how long it lasts but it feels high quality and nice.

That's what I ordered today,it's the only one that's somewhat available ATM. No cases in stock at any of the carriers in my area.
Spigen quality is always top-notch, definitely no worries there & the price on it is reasonable.

If You guys get some good cases. Please leave links

This case came yesterday. I like the way it feels and the protection is good on the back half of the phone. It's not too slippery. I don't know that I could have expected anything more. ?

Nexus S Official Case Guide

Hey guys,
Currently in South America and have not posted a video in a couple of days since I can’t seem to find a decent internet connection to upload, anyways I wanted to take some time to write an overview of all cases I’ve tried out and separate them into groups.
Hard Shell Cases
Incipio Feather – $24.99 – The only complete hard shell case featuring a soft touch coated polycarbonate which snaps onto your device with ease. Protects the majority of the device save for the top and bottom which are slightly exposed. Although a little pricey, it keeps the slim form factor of the device and is comfortable to use. Will provide minimal drop protection and good scratch protection.
Video Review - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwQP5IpLQC8
*Note* - i9020 model only
SGP Valencia - $37.99/$39.99 - Hard shell case covered in premium genuine leather, feels wonderful in hand and adds a lot of cushioning against impacts. The front flap design protects screen when not in use but can be cumbersome otherwise, device fits in snug but the case does add some bulk. Will provide good drop and scratch protection.
Video Review- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Avlt6hz-1r0
*Note* - i9020 model and Sprint 4G compatible
PDAir Aluminum Metal Case - $27.99 - Aluminum case with neoprene lining on the inside to provide padding to Nexus S. Choice of materials is top notch, case is a little thick but still manageable, looks good but hinge mechanism could be improved.
Video Review- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eg-L-_pyy5g
*Note* - i9020 model only (no word on 4G model compatibility)
Silicone, TPU and Rubber Cases
Rearth Ringke - $16.99 – A silicone case coated in a high quality polymer which repels dust and lint as well as providing a smooth finish. Flexible but still rigid, the case fits tightly and keeps a thin form factor. Cutouts and buttons are all easily accessible. Great value for money and a good option for anyone. Will provide minimal drop protection and good scratch protection.
Video Review - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yo9swPPpDVU
*Note* - i9020 model only
SGP Ultra Silke - $19.99 – Featuring a form factor similar to that of the Ringke, SGP’s Ultra Silke only varies in terms of material. Made from high quality silicone, the Silke does not feel as great as the Ringke but still does an admirable job. Silicone is smooth and does not attract dust, best of all, the package includes what I believe to be the highest quality screen protector on the market, definitely a good buy. Will provide minimal drop protection and good scratch protection.
Video Review- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMQz2rN_bSM
*Note* - i9020 and Sprint 4G compatible.
Proporta Mizu Shell - approx. 32$ – Another case that resembles the form factor of the Ringke and Silke, made fully of TPU, the Mizu Shell wraps around the device tightly, preventing dust/debris from entering. Although almost twice the price of the Ringke, the Mizu shell is still a fantastic case and will offer above average protection, cushioning your device if you were to drop out. The only negative on the case is the fingerprints/oils that show up on the back after extended usage.
Video Review- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vw-DUqeQi-k
*Note* - i9020 compatible, no word on others
Hybrid Cases
Case-Mate Pop - $34.99 – Comprised of a hard, glossy plastic wrapped around silicone rubber, the Pop seems to be the most popular case on the market, little pricey though. Feel and grip on the case are superb, while the plastic tends to scratch up a little, you won’t be disappointed with the overall protection as this is the slimmest of the hybrid cases and still manages to provide a tight fit, good drop and scratch protection.
Video Review - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4auzR3OVB8
*Note* - i9020 model and Sprint 4G compatible.
Seidio Innocase Active X - $29.99 – A two piece case made up of a soft inner silicone layer encased by a soft touch plastic spine. Not a fan of the quality of the silicone as it tends to pick up dust and lint and is somewhat stretchy, however the spine remedies that by holding it tightly in place. Adds some thickness but provides good protection. Decent choice overall.
Video Review - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TqYkfu93hmo
*Note* - i9020 and Sprint 4G compatible.
Trident Cyclops – $34.95 – Best protection available for your device, no questions asked. Two piece plastic case with a built in screen protector is wrapped by a silicone bumper that adds grip and even more added drop protection around the corners. Only downside is the bulk and thickness of the case, if you can handle it you’ll be pleased.
Video Review - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MenxwxVixGM
*Note* - i9020 and Sprint 4G compatible.
Skins/Screen Shields
BodyGuardz - $24.95 – Thin, clear membranes that cover your device, providing only scratch protection. The beauty of this is it adds virtually no bulk but your device is still protected from dirt, debris and scratches. Pack comes with 2 sets (2 screen shield, 2 backs) so good value for me, available in both Dry Apply and Wet Apply models.
Video Review - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r71OlL22fYU
*Note* - i9020 and Sprint 4G compatible.
Gelaskins - $14.95 – Made from 3M Printing material, Gelaskins follow the same idea as BodyGuardz but add uniqueness and design in the form of the printed artwork. A little thicker than BodyGuardz but still keeps a thin form factor. Can be removed and reused at a later date.
Video Review - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96d_Ti-zbGU
*Note* - i9020 only
SGP Ultra Optics - $15.99 – High quality screen shield offering an anti-fingerprint coating without affecting screen quality. Extremely easy to apply and adds a smooth feel when using the display. Only downside is the slightly squeak heard when using it, nothing major. 2 in a pack so you can save a spare.
Video Review - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDOswgrYuP0
*Note* - i9020 and Sprint 4G compatible
Overall, my favorites are the Case-Mate Pop and Rearth Ringke for cases, and I always use the SGP Ultra Optics as my screen protector. I switch between a lot of them though, depending on what I'm doing. However up to now I haven't found a case that is terrible, so by choosing any of the ones above you most likely won't be disappointed.
Edit- After trying out the Proporta Mizu Shell, I've decided to add it onto my Top 3 cases - it is relatively slim, stylish and adds good protection.
thanks for review, i was on the hunt for a case and this will help me choose one
Wow, nice write up. I am using the 6 dollar one from amazon right now, but will be checking some of those out.
Glad to help guys!
It's been mentioned in a couple of videos that the trident cyclops leaves a noticeable gap between the protector and the phone due to the curved screen. The trident aegis with a good stick on screen protector might be a better recommendation. Plus, it's 5 dollars cheaper. I'll post a review once mine arrives.

Is the power button/volume easy to press in it? What is the extra bulk like? I'm in SD also, did you pick it up at Fry's? I saw that they sell them there.

Thanks for letting me know, I'm going by what I've read on forums + manufacturers.
Does the silicone on the Pop case start to get nasty after a week or so? I had one for my Thunderbolt and it started to peel/crack. Got it replaced twice and finally my money back.
A good cheap silicone case for the Nexus S is the Amzer Jelly case. Usually doesn't go for more than $8-$10. Resists dust pretty well, but like all silicone cases there is noticeable flimsiness on the sides. Dust does get inside the case and on the tiny crevices on the bezel of the phone. The texture of the case makes it very good for holding while the smooth backing allows it to slide in and out of a pocket easily. The buttons are responsive and give a click sound when being pressed. I combine this with a Zagg shield for the screen protection. All in all, a good cheap purchase till I can find a better case (which is probably the Trident one that I ordered).

The silicone on the lip does tend to wear off a little but it's nothing major, it's just a minor cosmetic issue.

Gonna have to pass then. At $35, it shouldnt have that issue. Its a well known issue too.
any one has any idea whether the barely there case by case mate is gonna be available any time soon. im a fan of those.
Went to Fry's to buy the Case Mate Pop! today at lunch. The case is awesome! Fits great, power button is very responsive and overall much better than the Sprint Black TPU case.
I hope the silicon doesn't peel/crack and get nasty like mentioned! If it does though I will continue getting replacements as the case is awesome!

I think i have found an alternative to the Otterbox Defender Series. It's the Seidio Convert (use to be the Rugged series)
Basically it's a Seidio Active X on top of a Seidio Surface with a holster. 3 layers of protection. I ordered mine from ebay for 50$. I can't post link yet so make a search on google for Seidio Convert Nexus S and you'll find it.

Nexus 7 smartcover?

Hi XDA! I am looking for my PERFECT case/smartcover for the Nexus 7.
So the official Nexus 10 has a smart cover that is incorporated into the "rubber feet" on the back. Today, while walking through a mall, I saw these Blackberry Z10 smartcovers that are incorporated into the battery door.
Do you know of a case that is similar for the N7?
this is what the Blackberry Z10 battery door/smartcover look like http://bit.ly/10KGnO9
tried looking around, I haven't yet found anything so I gave up. Now my N7 has no case but I might just sell it an get an N10 anyways
The back has never needed any protection so these folio cases are pointless....it's the front that always has, and a bumper of sorts with the smartcover built in would be ideal
Exactly. The N7 is pretty bulky as is, dont need an extra layer in the back.

I have a moko cover that's pretty sweet. Its a portfolio case that let's you stand it in landscape to use with a Bluetooth keyboard or just to watch videos.
I tried posting a link but since I'm a new users, the forum won't allow me to. Just go to amazon and search for "moko slim-fit case" $15.99
Similar to the Blurex cases.
I've tried lots of cases. I DID like the Blurex/Moko style. However it did add a considerable amount of thickness. I also tried the Poetic case, which is a slim hard back plastic case with a smart case attached. It worked pretty well and latches shut at the end to keep closed. The Poetic case is the best case I've found for a smart cover type protection.
I eventually settled on a hardback book case. It is stylish and gives it a little more protection. The lid stays closed with a strap but some include wood shells with magnets. I opted for the cheapest solution and find it very good. In fact it has held up very well. The tablet is held in by sticky tape. I've owned mine for months and never had it fall out or need to be cleaned/restuck.
http://shop.portenzo.com/hardback-for-nexus-7/
Plenty of color combinations. I have a Red exterior, white inner liner, and a black strap. Nice and clean.
So iPAD mini like smart covers isn't available for the N7 ? I too just need a lightweight smart cover only to protect the screen and not the back and was wondering if something like poetic slimline exists?
The Poetic Slimline does exist, as my previous posts states, for the Nexus 7:
http://bit.ly/192m6YK
The iPad Smart Covers uses many magnets around the edge of the screen to keep the flappy flap tight against the surface. Others just use one side of magnets at the edge of the closing point.
Very good price too. I purchased mine for $20, but it is showing $9.95 at Amazon right now.
The Poetic was nice and I liked it but out of the 4-5 months I owned it, I had to replace it 3 times because the material would break at the seams. Poetic has a 3yr warranty and replaced it hassle free by just emailing them my Amazon order number. Because they are so cheap, they don't even bother wanting the old one returned... so while they were falling apart, other N7 owners didn't mind a free slightly worn case.
Here is a video of them:

Yea. In doing the research and finding that video, I noticed the different colors. When they first came out they only had black. I'd almost wouldn't mind picking up a baby blue or red one.
I noticed colors are a little more expensive.
@player911
After so much of research with matching my requirements, I just couldnt find an alternative to Poetic Slimline case. Looks like it isnt available in my country (India) which is not cheap option.
Any idea if there's any similar chinese ones or replica? Have seen few smart covers from China on Ebay but they have the problem of turning off the screen when cover is flipped around.

I've heard good things about the Nillkin smart-wake cases. While the case covers both the front and back, the folding section does not, which makes it a bit slimmer (Hard to explain, take a look at the link for a picture). Apparently these cases don't suffer from the waking issue when folded backwards, either.
Here's a review I found: http://www.androidcentral.com/nillkin-leather-flip-cover-nexus-7
Dad recently bought a Nexus 7 and we ordered this case, though we haven't received it yet so can't offer any first-hand impressions.

Heard about Nillkin so let me see
EDIT:
Doesn't protect the screen as cover doesn't have magnets on edges(magnetic closure) like poetic one to close it 100%
EDIT2:
Ordered Poetic Slimline

Thinnest case

What is the thinnest case out? I don't necessarily like cases...just want something as thin as possible for scratch protection.
Rinkge Slim is probably the thinnest. It fits VERY well and is about as minimal as it gets. I really like it.
However, I switched to a TPU case because I can be a bit clumsy and needed more protection from drops on pavement.
If you just want scratch protection then a skin is the way to go.

I have this one and have had it on past phones and I felt it made the 5x quite a bit bigger for a "thin" case. Maybe because its designed to fit flush with the camera and since the camera protrudes out, it the case does too.

I've heard a lot about this one... Also the Nillkin Nature case keeps coming up, too, and lists itself as .66mm thick. That's a pretty slim case, and would be far thinner than my Cimo tpu case. I'm probably going to order both the Nillkin and Lg Hardshell and see which one is best. I like that the Nillkin comes in clear and smoked options, too, instead of just solid colors. Haven't been able to confirm that option on the LG case since it doesn't appear for sale in the US just yet.

IMO the Ringke and Spigen "slim" cases look like Otterboxes in comparison to the LG Snap On, that one is basically like a hard skin. The quicksand cases are similar to those in thickness.

How thin is the Nilkin? I don't see it advertised. The LG Snap On is advertised at 0.75mm but we don't know at which point of the case they measured.
The Nilkin is a gel case, or "condom" case as I like to call them. They are thin but that's about all they have going for them.

The nillkin is advertised at. 0.6mm. Not much for rugged protection, I suppose, but should be nice for some coverage without added bulk. Mine just shipped (from somewhere in east Asia) and should be here in about 2 weeks. Will keep y'all posted.
The Lg case has a s light inward curve to it so it's hard to get measurements. After trying multiple angles the thinnest I got was .80, that's coming straight up from the bottom.
Diztronic hands down

I've got my Nillkin Nture TPU case. It's awesome! I don't have pics yet, but will try getting some for y'all when possible. In short, it's amazingly thin for TPU, adding minimal bulk. This is far superior and much thinner than my Cimo TPU case. It's not going to offer much drop protection, but I'm not too concerned about that. Plus it'll certainly prevent scratches. It also has a slight raised edge at the bezel so you can set the phone screen-down on a flat surface and the screen won't touch, but the added bonus here is that since its such a thin case, the offset is minimal which makes it MUCH easier to swipe left-to-right (for example to open an app menu or Google Now) than thicker TPU caes (which can often make it hard to touch the edge of the screen.
Anyway, I'm really happy about this case. It does had small flaps that cover and plug the charging alot and headphone jack, which I waver between liking and disliking. However, those could easily be cut off if wanted. Anyway, easily the best $10 I've ever spent on a case.

Yup, the white is actually clear. That's the one I bought.
My Nillkin is on its way from China. I'm excited to get it. I'm using the Ringke Fusion right now and I think the profile is slim along the edges but the extra thickness is killing me.
With the Nillkin should I look into getting a screen protector for the camera lens or does the case lip around the camera keep it from touching the surface?

Samsung Official Clear Cover

This is the case that is referred to as a "Bumper" and doesn't in any way cover the screen but does provide a bumper to all the edges and has a cover on the back.
It is £19.99 on Samsung's store (and elsewhere, although this appears to be the only official case not being sold by amazon currently).
I have just ordered one and wonder if anyone else has one, or considered it?
I bought the black protective cover from Samsung. It's more of a smoke cover but looks almost clear on a black device. It provides very little protection from drops but I'm usually pretty good about not dropping my phone. I like it better than the alacantara case. It doesn't go over the buttons either which is kinda nice because you get to feel the click better but doesn't offer any protection for them.

I ordered one for my Note 8, just shipped on Amazon and waiting for delivery in a few days. I have an orchid gray phone, but it seems I accidentally ordered the black one and only noticed after it was shipped. Anyway, I'll post some pictures of it when I get it here, I only considered it because I really liked the clear protective case from Samsung for the S8+ but I couldn't get that then so this time around I wanted to try an official case.

Yes, please do let us know what you think of it, I've got a spigen case with the stand but it feels a tad too bulky. Considering ordering the official sanding slim case. I couldn't tell from the pictures if it covers the top and bottom of the phone?

Ugh, I hate waiting, but Amazon seems to be taking extra long with this one (well, not really Amazon, but crappy USPS). From what I can tell of the generic picture on Amazon of the front of the device, the case covers all sides except the bottom where it's got a sort of opening for the headphone hack, USB-C port and S-Pen slot.
The official Clear Case has arrived, I ordered from Samsung directly for £19.
I am really impressed. It is certainly more of a "bumper" case, with most of the protection being on the edges of the device. It is lightweight and isn't clunky when fitted so the Note 8 still looks good with it on.
It has a plastic cover on the rear so no scratches etc when placing it on surfaces.
Obviously it doesn't' protect the screen, but you know that when ordering this sort of case.
My first impressions are it is worth the money if you want a case that primarily protects the edges and doesn't add weight or bulk to the device.

£15 at Amazon.
I like it as it preserves design.

Does it cover the bottom of the phone enough to prevent scratches? As in, are there cut outs for the ports or is the whole bottom just open?

Accessories Cases - Which One?

I normally buy an OEM case for my phones but so far I am not over taken by the offerings on the Google store.
So do you normally get a case for your phone? If so which one?
Or do you not bother with a case and just go "vanilla"?
Let me know your thoughts and if you can lets see some pictures of your case if you have one.
I usually just get the google case. Don't go "vanilla". If you drop it you'll probably have to pay more than triple of what the case just cost from the beginning.

I normally go for a OEM case (Google one) but they do not seem to have anything that appeals to me this year.
I will not being vanilla though and will get case eventually.

Not sure what to tell you... works for me. Its a Caseology Athlex.

I see what you did there
Is there any chance you guys can post the weight of your cases? This is the one I ordered. I'll post its weight when it arrives. Thanks

I ordered these two on Friday. The thin one for everyday use, and thick one for when I'm going to be out doing something hardy.

Spigen Liquid Air now and probably will buy a Matte Black dbrand Grip later. I bought a black leather skin with my Pixel 6 Grip case, but the skin it's so thin and isn't very durable. The Grip case itself is great.
I went with the Caseology Athlex. I am a bit hard on phones, so I will probably get a UAG case as well if/when they come out with some more selection than the Scout. They always have my favorite cases as they offer good protection with a slim profile.
Edit: I cancelled my order and ordered the UAG Scout...

I don't like the notch for the camera, but it has the oleo-phobic coating.
I have been really happy with the "Poetic" cases from Amazon. They started copying the Supcase Unicorn Beetle's and now design their own. Excellent protection. I also had an issue with one and they sent me 2 for free with no hassle.

How much thickness does the case and screen add on?
Quite a bit. That model is not petite.
Are there any cases with inbuilt stands besides Spigen and the cheap aliexpress options?
I'm unfamiliar with the 'Poetic Revolution' cases - are they as durable as Spigen?
I'm getting a Gadgetsdhieldz screen guard and Spigen Thin Fit Case! Hope this will be a good fit...
Caseology Parallax looks and feels great on this device, if anyone is curious about one. I've always been a Spigen user, but the grip and colorway on this case have won me over.
Ordered the Spigen rugged case and glass protector off Amazon.
I got a Spigen Thin Fit Case in black for now.
The case may well change in the coming weeks.
