[SOLVED] USB Sync/charge cable confused by phone with a TV OUT??

Hello,
Recently, whenever I plug my HTC Fuse into my laptop, the "Video Out" selection screen will appear on the phone and the display will turn into landscape. Opening/closing the keyboard with or without the USB cable removed will not change it back to portrait .. the only way is to go into settings and change it back, or soft reset the phone.
I also rebooted the PC , and the phone .. the problem still occurs. Any idea why my USB cable is being confused as a TV OUT? It didnt happen all the time with this cable, it is a new problem. It is really frustrating to have teo switch back to portriat after plugging my phone in , every time.
I will try another cable on Monday, I have to fetch my other one from work. Maybe the pins are somehow crossed? It does sync and charge perfectly fine. Also, I am using an older Energy ROM, and I will upgrade soon but dont have the time right now. I am hoping this is just a software issue and not hardware.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated. (I wasn't able to find any threads that discuss this problem in my searching.)

Anyway I was able to determine it was just the cable, as another cable worked fine. Did some research which indicates you have to remove a pin from a USB cable in order for the phone to recongize it as a TV out .. so I cleaned all the pins in the USB cable I have, very carefully .. and now it is no longer prompting as a video cable.
Now I am upgrading my rom

Try rebooting the phone... It should solve the problem

clean the charger port with a needle with power off. if it is clean there is this thing in the middle of the port that you have to push it higher very gently. don't blow in the port .

Just started experiencing the same thing this morning, is it battery related or other hardware issues? coz i reinstalled the ROM I am using and even tried another custom ROM but it's still having the same issue.

Is time to replace battery ！check it out 1st b4 doing anything ！

most probably the port.. clean and test it

got around to cleaning the USB port, now it's fine. It was also affecting transferring of files larger than 400mb from PC to phone too. the phone would freeze and I'd have to reset it.

Thanks for this video. I faced the same issue which is now sorted out after cleaning the charging port.

Thanks to the OP who floated this thread.. I had similar problem yesterday. special thanks to @andreasarxon. and nokiamodeln91. Thank you guys at xda. Probably due to rough handling of usb cable this happened. All is well now.

Clean It With A Little Whisky :]
cotton, dip it in a little whisky and then clean the usb port with a help of a needle/pin... worked for me :]
*make sure your phone is turned off and the battery is out while you do this application*
try and clean your charger as well.. Cheers!

you would have to change the usb port inside the phone. small cleaning here and there is just a temp fix. fortunately the part is easy to install. Takes 10 minutes total. You must take out the original part and take a look at the revision of the part. comes in rev. .8 rev 1.0 etc. Mine is rev. 1.0. now the bad news: most parts you will get from ebay will be defective. I have had 4 usb ports and only one worked. Most have microphone problem. No mic and the other party can't hear you. one had problems with mic and also with charging. The last one had problem with mic which produced loud distortion and no sound can be recorded apart from distortion. In order for you to get the right part, take a look at your defective usb port inside the phone and write down the revision number. must have the same rev number. Then make sure you buy the part with the antenna amplification tape in the back to amplify the cell signal. the parts without this tape will give you a weaker cell signal (40% less). this makes a huge difference where signal is already weak. so take a look at your original usb port first and then get an exact one with reflective tape on the back covering the antenna.

Phone allowing rotation on home screen/speaker phone always on

My stock rom M8 is answering and making calls in speaker mode all the time. Also, the home screen is allowed to rotate. I've read a bit about some other phones having this issue caused by a bad USB port. Has anyone reported issues like this with the M8? Plug in a USB cable and it's back to normal. The USB cable doesn't even have to be connected to anything on the other end for this to work. Unplug the USB and the screen comes on a couple seconds later with the issues back again. I'm hoping someone can tell me I don't have to replace my USB port to get it fixed.
Phone info:
Stock Sprint rom
Running ART (changed animation scales down to .5)
Only using 10B of 32GB of phone storage and 10.5GB of a 32GB SD
Factory reset the phone and it didn't fix
Using Tasker for managing Ringer profiles and mobile data connection
Chrome installed and updated
All phone updates are updated
Always use HTC charger and charging cord
Phone is babied (It sits in a case on a microfiber cloth on my desk at work )

Just kidding about the USB cable fixing it. I just tried it again and plugging it into USB is not fixing it anymore. BAHHH!

It looks like your phone thinks its always on "Car Mode". Some cleaning of the usb connector might be able to fix it.
There is an extra pin in the phone usb connector that detects when its connected to car dock,desktop craddle or in usb host mode.if something is bridging it to the ground pin, this can happen.

I cleaned it with part of a Q-tip and some glass cleaner, then probed around in there with a needle. Nothing looked dirty. I ran a usb cable in and out a few times to see if it would work something out of the way. I'm leaving it dry out now (just in case it's a little moist) and we'll see what happens.

I spoke to HTC and our last resort before sending it in is to re-flash the stock Sprint RUU. Are there instructions on that somewhere? Or, is it better to just root now that it's somewhat busted?

Hit the second link in my sig and read over the section about RUU's. Links to the latest RUU can be found at the bottom of the first post. There is info on the same page as the RUU on how to run it.

USB-C to 3.5 mm adapter not working well

It takes a lot of fiddling to get sound through and when I finally can... I only receive audio, but when I speak through the Mic no one can hear me.
Others with similar experiences or fixes?

Not really
5 months without solution
The only solution is to use wireless or type c headphones

What works for me is to reboot the phone with the dongle plugged in. If the reboot doesn't fix the audio issues then I unplug it and plug it back in before messing with the USB settings in developer options.

One possible fix that worked for me is this: Look at your jack male end, if it has three black lines on it, it won't work properly when plugged into the dongle, if it has just two black lines, it'll work just fine. For example if you have a cable, that has different ends, be sure to put the 2-lined into the dongle, not the 3-lined.

Question wired charging is not working after upgrading 10 pro to NE2215_11_C21

Hello, it seems like the wired charging is not working after upgrading 10 pro to NE2215_11_C21 (OxygenOS 13.0).
I don't think there's anything wrong with the charger and the usb line, since I just got the phone yesterday and I can still connect it via adb.
and I got the full-sized image from oxygen updater.
Not sure if anyone met with this issue before. Thanks in advance.

Factory reset then phone and it should fix this issue.

Definitely haven't seen this on such a new device..the fact that a connection still works via your computer suggests the cable is fine.
Could it be that it's charging but not showing the battery doing so?.
Or could it be the two pins required for charging?
Try a bunch of cables, other chargers.
Clean the port with a toothbrush (thoroughly) you want it to be spotless.
Try a bunch of wall sockets too.
If the above fails then yes I'd wipe.. however if your phones new then this really shouldn't be happening, if it's within 30 days and new then you can get a straight swap.
Or even better you can send it back, forget the 10 pro and get a pixel 7 pro or a Motorola edge 30 ultra.

Clean it, my money's on the port on your phone..grab a stiff toothbrush, even a pin (be careful with the pin)

i've reverted to NE2211_1_A.18. and everything is back to normal.

Maybe something is wrong with that full rom. Try upgrading to C.19, then use the c.20 and c.19 ota files.

Nice one.. did you factory reset whilst on C21? That would have fixed it I'd have thought
