Confused about ROMs (again)

Hi,
OK, so currently, I am running the MIUI 8.2 by xiaomi.eu 6.12.29.
However, this is UNOFFICIAL with no OTA etc. At the time, it was better than using the unofficial ROM that came with the phone (I'm not sure what that's called) and better than the official Chinese one.
But, I can now see that there is an OFFICIAL MIUI 8.2 GLOBAL for the Mix.
I want a phone that is unrooted, everything is vanilla (so that my banking apps work), has Google Apps and with OTA updates (I guess it's best for security). Also, the Euro ROM doesn't have working NFC payments (I can't get mine to work anyway).
Is my best bet now to move to the OFFICIAL GLOBAL ROM?
Thanks.

That's the really good question regarding the MIUI versions.
Maybe someone can explain (in noob version) the differences between the ROM versions. I came from Samsung two months ago and I am really confused, becasue the number of versions and their numbering.
I understand there are few types of ROM available with MIUI 8:
- MIUI Global Stable 8.x.x
- MIUI Global Beta 7.x.x (why the beta version has lower version number than stable one???)
- MIUI China Stable 8.x.x (what is the difference of Global vs. China?)
- MIUI Developers ROM 7.x.x (why it is 7.x.x not 8.x.x if it is MIUI 8???)
- MIUI Developers ROM 6.x.x (why it is 6.x.x not 8.x.x if it is MIUI 8???)
- other versions (please add if so)
Are they all version supported by MIUI team (official one) or maybe there are some developed by other teams? Which ones?
Thanks in advance for the explanation of this mess...
Regards!

Hello. I´ll try to explain.
There is no Global for now. So no need to explain.
The difference between 7.x.x and 6.x.x means that 7 ( Year 2017) and 6 (Year 2016) and it´s MIUI 8 . China Stable and China Developer are Official MIUI.

quick reply mod for miuipro

Is there anyone have made a mod for miuipro to support quick reply?
Which version of miuipro do you use? MIUIpro is now based on Nougat, and has quick reply built-in. Quick reply is already supported. Maybe your app doesn't support it?

Quick reply is the "pressing Reply and a text box appears in its place" feature. What you are mentioning is NOT the quick reply feature, it's the new notification system.
And no, there is no mod for that. MIUIpro is based on MIUI Stable version, not dev ver. Only dev version has that feature unless stable 9.5 was rolled out.
Latest release of MIUIpro is April 12th, whereas latest release of MIUI 9.5 stable containing that new notification system was released on April 17th. Give the devs sometime. Either today's update, or next week's update of MIUIpro, we will probably see that coming to our device.

Yes you're right, that's new notification shade. . .btw, the right thing is that miupro based on china (dev and stable), and the new notification shade is on miui global dev and 9.5 for stable rom. .
I just saw someone make a mod for that in xiaomi.eu roms (based on china too), but it's not working on miuipro

well. After trying almost every roms from mm to pie.
i come to this conclusion.
For pie aosp rom i recommend mokeerom because its quite stable, good backup, and frequent updates, overall great for daily driver.
For miui, i recommended, miroom roms, latest stable, good on battery, latest with loads of miui features.
If you dont care for android versions and security update, i highly recommend, mui 8.1.4.0 global stable rom, its amazingly fast, stable and best of battery.
for aosp, i recommend JDC 7.1 older version.
Those are more of official versions, i have the phone at the moment on the global rom bit jist diacovered apparantly there is miui eu, or miui room, is there much dofference tban the global and chinesse roms?
Mokee os noone discusses about it strange

No NFC on global ROM ?

I have the K20 pro, MIUI global 11.0.3 stable (11.0.3 QFKINXM) and for some reason there is no NFC option on my phone.
Is there any other official ROM that I can install that have call recorder and NFC?
It's super important for me to have the call recorder built in as I have at the moment.
Tnx for the help
I'm surprised you have the call recording feature--I've never had that available on the official Global ROM of any Xiaomi phone--although it's possible that feature is available or not based on the region you choose at set up.
You don't have an NFC option under connections and sharing?
It's there on the Global ROM on my phone.
Once again 'global' ROM causes confusion.
Depending on how you look at it, there is either 1 global ROM or 4 global ROMs.
For any ROM that is not Chinese, you will notice that it is referred to as global MIUI in the about phone settings page.
However there are 4 different ROMs that are labelled this way.
Indian
European
Russian
Global
The Indian phone does not have NFC hardware, therefore NFC is disabled in the Indian ROM. You have an Indian ROM installed on your phone.
The European, Russian and Global ROMs all come with the Google dialer app, which does not allow call recording.
If you want non-Chinese MIUI, with working NFC and the MIUI dialer app that allows call recording, then I believe your only option is the xiaomi.eu ROM.

Prior to the Android 10 update on the MI 9T Pro the Global ROMs on every Xiaomi phone I have ever owned had the Xiaomi Dialer and Messaging apps--Xiaomi put out a press release less than two weeks ago confirming the switch to the Google Dialer and Messaging apps on the Global ROMs.
I'm not sure why the OP would be running an official Xiaomi ROM that doesn't correspond to the hardware on his phone.

We're not talking about previous phones, we're talking about the Mi 9T Pro, which has the Google dialer and messaging apps, and has had them since its release.
Only the K20 Pro (both regions) came with the Xiaomi dialer and messaging apps.
All we know is that the OP has a K20 Pro. They may have the Indian version, in which case they have the correct MIUI ROM. Otherwise, they obviously don't want to live with the Chinese MIUI ROM.

Head to www.xiaomi.eu site and from the menu bar on left. You have two options. 1.Stable roms are not updated very frequently and are with lesser to zero bugs. 2. Weekly developer roms if you want to experience new features early but may have bugs.
Before flashing a .eu rom you will have to unlock your bootloader and flash a custom recovery. You will find all the related info and procedures in XDA development threads.

@fernoct much appreciated your help and the answer
I have a K20 Pro Premium Edition. Currently, there is only the China ROM available for the Premium Edition.
I was able to flash the K20 Pro Global ROM on it, then I discovered it doesn't have call recording (which I need). So then I flashed the K20 Pro Indian ROM on it and it has call recording, but missing Dual GPS and NFC. The mobile signal strength seems to be weaker as well, compared to when I was on the K20 Pro Premium Edition China ROM.
I know there are recording apps out there, but I prefer to run the native call recording if possible. The main problem for me is the signal strength on the Indian ROM. It sucks and I'm wondering if flashing a different region firmware will fix this? Can someone confirm?

Xiaomi Mi 9 ROM with support for LHDC?

Hello, I'm looking for a custom ROM for my MI9 that has support for my Air2s earphones that have support for the LHDC audio codec. I have tried the xiaomi.eu ROM which works great with them but the battery life with the rom is terrible. Stock MIUI ROM is supposed to support them but it doesn't work for me and neither does the popup that displays the earphones battery life.
I'm currently on Syberia ROM which doesn't have support for LHDC as I found out after installing it. It's supposed to be included in every Android 10 phone but needs implementing by the developer. I was also wondering if a Magisk Module would be able to do this?
Thanks for any help.
Global MIUI 12.0.2.0 LHDC v3 works with air2s!

Hey, if you want to use LHDC with Global/EEA version, update to 12.0.2.0, then air2s are working with MI9 LHDC v3.
If you have no OTA update in europe, switch region to "switzerland" and you will get it.
