Swiping in from the side of the screen takes you back.

You can change the settings on the phone to use the traditional navigation buttons instead of gestures.

HTC IME Problems

Anyone who got the cursor moving by taping om the sides of the phone?
Mine works a few times, then it stops until I change keyboard and then change back to HTC ime. The taping works fine with stock lg keyboard and SwiftKey.

use the volume keys to move the cursor, much easier
I'm aware of that feature, but it's not what I'm asking for.

Back/Menu with stylus

Just got my note this morning, and when using stylus don't seem to be able to press the back or menu button!
Any tips?

I guess SGN does not offer such a feature, mate! You would probably need to accept it.

indeed it does offer... just press the button on the stylus and swipe to the left on the screen to go back and swipe up on the screen to access the menu options... you can do this on whichever app you are on
Actually those buttons are capacitive and i think i've read somewhere its not a capacitive stylus....it uses some other technology....an like Chillz88 said...use the button and gestures...
The button tip on the stylus is amazing, Thank you for all the help!

Possible to add apps to pie controls?

Title says it all really. Is it possible to add apps to pie controls? I've seen pictures, but can't find out how from anywhere.

hi lazy guy...the i-net is full of howto´s. if you use lmt, then go to lmt, on the top hit pie. than i.e. push pie item 1 - than select app and choose your app. that´s it.

So I have to use that. That's all I wanted to know, just thought it would be more efficient to use the one that was already there if possible.
Whats the big deal with the pie control? Its almost useless , you can use your button to navigate, sliding on the edge of the screen and using it almost same with the existing physical button is making your life too complicated

Hard to reach back button one handed on Note for me at least, so I find it very nice to use.

What about phones which do not have physical buttons?

Software Buttons

A couple of days ago I asked in the Q&A forum if it was possible to disable your physical back home and menu buttons and enable the on screen buttons like on the nexus 4. A guy named: UncleRipper helped me by telling me how to do it, so I want to share it with you guys. But all props to UncleRipper! For an example of how it looks on my phone see the photo below.
So what we want to do is enable the on screen buttons, disable the physical buttons, and stop them from lighting up everytime you touch the screen. I know you can disable this in the settings if you're on lg's software, but I am running cyanogenmod 10.1 nightly.
So first enable the on screen buttons:
open a file manager with root ( Solid Explorer or Root Explorer), go to /system and open build.prop (backup it!!)
add this line at the end of the file build.prop:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
restart your phone.
Now you got the on screen buttons, you want to disable the physical buttons:
Use "button remapper" (search it on google cause isn't on play store) and assign "focus" to home, back and menu buttons.
The app is simple to use and the values to change are last in the list.
After the physical buttons are disabled you want to stop them from lighting up when you touch the sceen:
Prerequisites:
Root
SManager (play store)
SManager widget (play store)
Your phone
this script: https://www.dropbox.com/s/iz6t5eql0w...tkeyscript.zip
First install the app SManager and accept the SU request.
Use a root file browser and move the script from the SD Card your system/etc/init.d folder
Go into SManager and locate the 2 scripts. Click on them and tap the little star button in the top left to make them a favorite. And click the little SU icon while your at it! (optional: click also on run on boot the gear near "su" command)
Add the widget to your home screen, run the script and turn off the display and then turn it back on.
If the physical buttons wernt visible id do this. But i find LMT launcher works great for when a can be bothered doing hand gymnastics to push the back button.

Yep, if the physical buttons went off, it would be good. Could You make it working? ;D
The physical buttons are disabled and they don't light up anymore, so you can't really see them anymore unless you take a really hard look. But hey, it's your choice rather to use it or not! I'm just saying it's possible ;D

Couldn't agree more!
I seem to be having trouble with button remapper. The only option that I'm getting is for the power button and can't seem to access the home, menu, and back keys for some reason. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Open /system/usr/keylayout/touch_dev.kl and remove/comment three lines from the almost end of the file (those with VIRTUAL word). Works, at least on PAC 23.0/CM10.1, not sure if in stock rom will also work. Then use the script from OP to disable lights (I'll try to find simplier way to do it all).
And of course add this:
Code:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
at the end of /system/build.prop
+1 thank you I got it all working now.

only help i can be is to tell you that arararagi's CM has an option to disable button backlight. it's the only rom out of current custom ones that has implemented any control over our led, afaik.

Yeh after having an i777 last couple years with the on screen keys, it's taken me about a week to get used to a home button and the 3 key layout, pressing left for multi and holding it for settings feels a bit awkward to me out of habit lol

Exactly how I'm feeling! I even miss the fourth "search" button on the i777. I had longpress open a QR scanner which always came in handy.
