Is this benchmark score normal? - Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Questions & Answers

I use exynos 990/6 gb version and i take this result. Is this normal

What are you using to benchmark?

Thanks for that i guess i got a problem or something i dont know

Here's mine.
6gb/128gb SD865

Are you sure you don't have some type of battery saving enabled? Your single core is lower but your multi core is higher.

This is my multicore score. I think thats normal for exyno and i close all batery saving thing. When i write for this to samsung they said we dont care 3rd part benchmark app. So i dont know what should i do.

I've been modding pc's since the late 90's and benching has always been a thing. However, benchmarks have always been a tool that isn't foolproof. Id recommend using the phone and seeing if it chokes up at all. I've had mine now for about 6 weeks. The only issue I've had is sometimes Chrome seizes up a little, I don't blame the phone though... That's chrome.
Use it and switch around between apps. If it's seriously chokes up, then you probably have an hardware issue. Otherwise just uninstall The benchmark program and enjoy the beautiful phone.

My geekbemch score for the s20 Fe 5g SD865 is
Single : 559
Multi : 2987
And for antutu it's 557456
Is that normal ? I saw people get way higher than this

Snap 865 6/128
View attachment 5131557

Now i get this result with exynos 990 and i dont know what change

fyi, don't compare your score to sd devices as the exynos and sd are two completely different soc.
You're not supposed to get scores that resemble sd score with exynos score.
Also, every individual chip is also different referred to silicon lottery amongst pc enthusiasts and overclockers.
Without overclocking it's not gonna really matter, but still know this - no two chips are identical.
The only take away is to get reference for how much score you're supposed to get using your device and cpu, and only that's important.
If your device is severely underperforming, maybe that is issue.
But it has been long known that exynos is highly inferior to sd counterpart and why it's a hotly debated topic.
If you want sd chip, you need to buy 5G variant of the s20 FE, which afaik only is available with sd.

There is still little information about the octa variant. No review about score and battery life.
So I was able to install antutu on demo unit. The score is high and the phone is not heating. All 8 cores can run together but Antutu reports the freq is 500-1300MHz and not recognize the cpu model name.
Please post your benchmark and battery life.

Damn. Exynos is consistently higher than the Snapdragon 801 in Antutu.
Only disappointment is the lack of LTE though(and ROMs too).
The new Exynos version come with new kind of fine-grained power management, overheating should be of the past and impossible.
Here's a benchmark video of the Exynos version.
It scores a chart topping 39029 on Antutu, that too without all the benchmark boosting involved!

Samsung advertises "True Octa Core" capabilities with this device and this certainly means that Samsung is shipping the device with HMP enabled.
Does HMP offer better battery management over the previous implementations?

It comes with HMP but that's not what I'm talking about.
The device comes with something called ARM Intelligent Power Allocation (IPA) which is basically a very fine-grained power tracking and estimation thermal framework to control DVFS. The device is capped at 3.5W TDP between all CPUs and GPU, so it should never cause a heating overrun. And it seems that it doesn't affect performance given the videos.

I didn't mean that you mentioned about HMP in your earlier post. I just had a question about the battery performance of HMP.
Can you comment on that?

I've read the opposite from other people such as the OP. All depends on firmware you had on your version. We'll see when somebody actually bothers to properly test it. I'm just stating what I see in the code.
@dragon135
The 5430 has a HEVC decoder, dedicated clock domain on the display interface, higher clocks in general, GPU at 600MHz (no info on core count but improvement is a possibility), and a new dedicated A5 co-processor for audio decoding and encoding called "Siren". The HEVC decoder alone is worth it imho since it provides good future-proofing of the device.

The 900H I tested ( i made a vid on that ) was hot as hell after 2 or 3 antutubench. Not sure as if it was the final version but my first impression on the Octa was really really impressed with fluidity and speed. However, if watch closely to my vid, u can see the octa will slightly slow down and get hot after a period of hesvy tasks. I wouldnt say it might be at that overheated but I can feel the temp while holding 2 different variants in hands. Well, let see how the octa performs in the future. I might get 1 final H version to test to but I want to get the M8 to test as too many guys claiming the M8 is way better than the S5 hehe.

Let's get 64-bit Android to our Note 4 Exynos via a Kickstarter-campaign

Edit: Campaign Link Available: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/166919191/we-want-64-bit-android-on-our-note-4-and-tab-s2-97
Hi all,
As the proud owner of a Note 4, I am a digital enthusiast looking to facilitate my life as much as possible. I expect high performance, faultless experience and plenty of organisational functionalities.
Having chosen deliberately for the Exynos-version, I am also tech savvy and willing to pay an extra buck for a machine that will do the extra mile, both in speed and distance.
You can imagine my disappointment when I figured out that the Exynos 5433-version ships with a 32-bit Android, without a 64-bit update in sight. My extra buck down the drain, stuck with a 2 year long feeling of having paid a vast sum of money for an ‘old’ device.
After having browsed the fora and blog posts, I’ve seen I’m not the only one. Realising that this is ‘only’ a matter of code, I can not help but feeling we can solve this! (Samsung, if not, then this will have been my last Samsung device).
I've launched a kickstarter campaign where I want to find 1000 users, backing the campaign with €1 for 2 goals:
1) Gather all interested Note 4 and Tab S2 9.7 owners who want a 64-bit operating system to pressure Samsung with a high amount of discontent customers to release the bootloader source code..
2) Gather money to donate to a recognised developer that can make a 64-bit bootloader, once Samsung has released the bootloader source code.
With this tread, I’d like to ask those interested to join and spread the word! Together, we can win this
You can find the project on kickstarter.com by searching with "64 bit". You'll see the "we want android 64 bit for our exynos "- project.
I am sure that together, we can win this!

I must say that the respons is not what I'd epected. We won't make it this way.
Anybody any idea's on how to bring this under the attention? I would have loved to have posted in under the Exynos-development section, but I'm not allowed.
@moderator: Since timing is everything,it would be good to point people to the kickstater campaign on the first read of this post. Could you please allow me to add the link to the post (or do it yourself?) I've contacted 2 moderators, no reply yet.

Sure why not, I really like to have this as it will make porting easier as I think
Is 64bit even worth it ? I thought it is worth when you have at least 4gb of ram
Finally someone just said wat I feel Iam completely supporting a man for 2 yearsnow and Iam waiting For someone in xda to succeed in activating 64 bit exynos note 4 , Don't giveup .
So what will that goal achieve? the figure showing that the phone is 64bit? Does it provide tangible improvements, will the phone perform better and consume less battery. To my knowledge it will do no such thing and I can only imagine how many men hours it will take to port all the libraries, kernel, bootloader, I fail to see the benefits.

The discussion whether 64 bit brings extra performance or not has been held on several other places, on XDA and elsewhere. I'd like to try to keep this post about the campaign as clean as possible to enthusiast as many as possible.
We will take advantage of ARMv8 architecture, both for CPU and GPU. So there will be a performance gain. How big remains to be proven. Besides this It's a matter of principle.

Im pretty sure there wont be any change. You allready have advantage of armv8( it has nothing to do with 64 bit) im using s6 edge and performance difference is very minimal even with overclocked cpu. I bet there wont be even 1% performance change but ram usage will be higher around 15% percent cuz of 64 bit so i hope note 4 sticks with 32 bit.

Which benchmark scores? Antutu has the biggest difference and its a bull**** benchmark anyway. And gpu is more powerful on 7420. Other benchmarks just about frequency difference 200 mhz overclock performance gain and its not that big for example 5433 get 1300/4600 on geekbench 7420 gets around 1500/5200. Thats all. About daily usage its just same for me i even tried it now app launchs etc almost same web pages load almost same.

Not its just same cpu architecture both cortex a57 only difference is in production 1 is 20 nm 1 is 14 nm. And it doesnt effect performance directly it just gives you a thermal space so they can overclock cpu to 2.1 ghz like in 7420 basically you cant overclock 5433 to 2.1 its just too much for it in 20 nm.
Btw we are talking about 64 bit not cpus itself. And whatever i use both of them anyway and i dont think 7420 worths anything 2015 is just waste for me imho.

Well peak performance doesnt effected by small differences even s810 with same cores (a57) gives same peak performance but sustainable performance can change between all of them. Again its not a soc thread im just commenting about 64 bit.

Hmm not sure, but I'm guessing it's due to the different SoC? Not sure if true or not, but I had read once that the Snapdragon was slightly better for 3d graphics while the exynos was slightly better for multitasking and battery life. That could potentially explain it, but it could also just be something coded wrong in the app itself (it's beta) that might get fixed in a future update. Speculation only of course
Its the same with PUBG mobile. Snapdragon variant can play HDR and Ultra Frame rate (40fps) while exynos only Hd and high. (30fps). I dont know why the do that to similar devices.

Probably because of the different SoC.
you can play pubg on 60fps there is an app called gfx tools in playstore. you can select hdr but it really heats up the phone and i couldnt really get a good fps with it. kernel keeps lowering cpu speed even though dvfs is disabled. but low graphics on 60fps is very nice.

It's disappointing that the Exynos variant currently is stuck on Medium while the Snapdragon one reaches Epic. I know there's a performance difference, but it's not supposed to be THAT big.
Hopefully, Epic will improve performance.

Mi9 global extremely low geekbench scores?

Hi, i just got the device 2 days ago, i was on other firmware, and i had the same issue.
I updated to the 10.2.30, but nothing changed here are the scores,
Now before you tell me benchmark don't matter, i know, but im affraid cores may not boost during real life workloads and im getting crippled snapdragon 660 instead of s855, thank.
P.S. The phone is also not faster and even slower compared to s10 exynos in tasks, this is what made me investigate.
You sure you see those numbers reflected in daily tasks? I was curious if I'd get similar results and I did in geekbench but other benchmark apps give the result we'd expect so I'm pretty sure it's just the app that's at fault.
No, not completely but the phone is not faster and even slower compared to supposedly slower 9820 based s10...sometimes chrome starts to load web woth 2 seconds delay, and apps install time is also a bit sluggish
Well when my mi 9 came in I still had the oneplus 7 pro that I wanted to return so I compared them speed wise. Could barely tell that the mi 9 was slower than the 7 pro in download+install, most of the time it was almost the same if not the same and that's down to ufs 3.0 i guess. And believe me, I'm not boasting about my mi 9, because being fast is this phones's only quality, everything else is average at best in my opinion.
Can you do geekbench and pc mark work 2.0 for me please? just let few mins between runs and close everything from the background first, thanks alot!
P.S. What FW you are using? 64 or 128GB version?
You are using geekbench 5, use geekbench 4 if you want higher score.... Nice placebo just from a score.

Average, actually it takes better photos and video over the OnePlus 7 pro!
To back that up look no further then the 50 plus reviews on YouTube!
Also the Mi 9 has better ultra wide and telephoto cameras.
Has wireless 20watt charging like no other does which the OnePlus has no wireless at all!
Charges faster, 1hr flat, last longer,
IR blaster although nothing major still nice to have. I use it. Especially at sports bars when you want your game! Lol
The only thing the OnePlus 7 pro truly beats the Mi 9 at is the display. Other then that the fact is the Mi 9 is even faster! Proven.
The 3.0 is only for data transfer out a USB C cable. Not to important to me overall!

My 1st result running warm and worth 5 apps loaded I will post below and more tomorrow. But it beats every registered score they have for Android and by a decent bit and that's with apps running and warm!!
Gokh is right, they changed the score multiplier in geekbench 5 it seems, it's easy to tell if you look at other phones' score, they're all in the same league.
I did the geekbench 5 on 10.2.28 EEA, 128 GB and got a similar result, a bit lower. I don't know what pcmark work 2.0 is, I typically just use antutu as it tests many things without going through the hassle of installing 6 other apps and is maintained properly.

Question Galaxy Tab S8 lagging in games compared to Tab S7

Hello
I have upgraded my Tab S7 to Tab S8. And I have expected new device be much faster and smoother, but what I found that games are really lagging! It was perfectly smooth on S7 but not on S8. Game mode does not help much. I do not play a log of games on this tablet as I used it mostly for developement, but I do play Harry Potter Puzzle and Spells and this game lags pretty bad on S8.
What can be done to fix it or should I wait for Samsung to release update? I do know about Samsung's throttling on S8 devices but I never expect it to be that bad.
And in addition (don't want to open another thread) it seems that S8 has more aggressive memory settings because it unloads apps from memory over time. Which never happened on S7. S8 has more memory and I think it should keep more opened apps, not reloading them. And yes, settings in developer section (do not keep activities) is not enabled

This has to do to android 12, s7 was only on android 11, but also is on 12 now. So then it automatically puts apps into deep sleep. You can remove that under battery settings area and remove apps from deep sleep mode.
About lagging it might be new game mode from samsung since apparently samsung did on purpose limit hardware but added a settings into app that let's you gain more performance in games. Should be in game engine or w.e name is and then settings and then Labs and enable experimental feature there that should boost performance and stop limit the hardware for game.
When I replaces S7 it was already on Android 12 but I never observed such behavior. Anyway, I have put game into never sleep list. As about lags, unfortunately I found no options for that

I was noticing this particular with emulation since I don't play many native android games. When playing Sonic Colors at native res on my Tab S7+, it would almost never go below 30fps in level, and almost never below 60fps in the hub and menus. However, when I tried doing the same on the S8+, I had a bunch of stuttering and performance issues no matter what version of dolphin I used. There was a workaround to this (at least for me). These issues only happened when I restored my data to my new S8+ with Smart Switch, but when I just put all my data and stuff on there manually, the issues seemingly stopped happening. The only game I throttle in is Fortnite, which didn't have the 90fps option even though the S7+ did. The game still didn't feel much different before and after the throttle, still pretty consistent framerates overall.
Edit: Just fixing typos.

Did you used cloud backup or restored through cable or it's the same thing? I have similar problem, but with benchmark results. My device can't get even average model score in 3DMark (about 2 to 8%). Geekbench scores are worse than snapdragon 865 devices. I don't know what's going on. I already tried to reflash stock rom with odin, but that didn't help. Hopefully not using cloud backup will help.

I initially restored with a cable, but once I started getting shawty performance, I made a backup on my sd card and restored it from there with Smart Switch. I never used cloud backup since that takes a lot of time for me. After getting suboptimal results with both, I just bit the bullet and slowly started adding everything and getting it to how it was on my old devices. Only then did I get getting substatiall better results. Now I can run a lot of Wii/GC/3DS/PS2 games at 1.5x, 2x, and sometimes even 3x without getting throttled. Not sure why using smart switch tanked my performance, but all I know is that it's not tanking now.
Thats interesting. Because I also moved data using cable. I do not know how good is cloud since I never did it before (only on Apple devices).
I might try to fully format tablet and test it again.
Will provide more information later

I tried formatting few days ago, and that didn't help. At least for me this problem is not related to Smart Switch. Do you also have bad benchmark scores? I understand that benchmarks are not very good indicator of performance (especially due to GOS), but I expect to have at least average SD8gen1 performance, not the level of SD855.
Did reset to factory settings. It is much better at least for now. Benchmark - tested only Geekbench 5. Result the same
Hi.. I'm experiencing the same problem here.. any updates regarding this problem? My geekbench score can't even surpass an exynos 2100.. it only achieve around 700ish on single core.. the first time I notice this is when I tried playing granturismo with aethersx2.. and it can't even handle the 1x reso.. hhhh.. really frustrated here.. please kindly share any clues regarding this topic thanks in advance.. sorry not a native English speaker
I had same problem, but, i solved using this:
ADB AppControl 1.7.5
(disable all game service (i'm not remember how many)). For me it's work great
--edit
i disabled bixdy and others apps too
First.. thank you for the answer! Might try it out later..
So it's like disabling the "GOS" right? Is it different from the "alternate game performance" option in game booster? They said it's the "official" way to disable the GOS.. but yeah I didn't find any difference after enabling that option though... Hmm..
Hmm...also.. What makes me wonder is.. I saw some reviewers review this device without any tweaking needed and they could achieve a 8gen1'ish results in benchmarks.. and also if you know ETA prime on YouTube.. he reviewed a tab s8 ultra and is able to run a granturismo 4 with aethersx2 (ps2 emulator) in 3x reso in default settings with no problems... I know it's a different device but it's supposed to have a same Chip right?
All of this things makes me frustrated because it was not what i expected from a 8gen1 device.. moreover I saw a sd870 device could run the granturismo 4 in the same settings with no problems.. it really broke my heart..
The issue mainly lies in the SOC.
Even though, SD8 Gen 1 has a much higher peak performance, especially in GPU, it can't sustain that performance due to excesive power consumption which results in thermal throttling.
GOS is another thing that affects the whole experience, it's limiting the performance of the device.

Yeah.. I think this is mainly what cause the problem.. The 8gen1 itself..
a quick update regarding this from me..
I've done some re-test in benchmark and real game perfomance but this time im doing it in a well conditioned (cooled) room..
previously I was doing the test and gaming and in a room without any Air Conditioner and I lived in a tropical country which is really hot and humid...
the benchmark results (3d wildlife) came out Nice in a well cooled room, It scores what most of Tab S8 would score and the real life perfomance (PS2 emulator) is also improved..
it manages to handle GranTurismo 4 in aethersx2 with 3x reso on safe setting quite well..
the CPU temperature is well managed in around 35'ish Celcius compared to 45'ish when not using any air conditioner...

CPU temperature 35 Celsius degrees? Are you talking about an ABSOLUTE idle? Because even if you would put a bag of ice on the TAB it wouldn't sit that low under usage. Even small loads will put the CPU around 50-60 Celsius degrees. Under heavy load up to 85-90 till the thermal throttle hits in.
Also, that ONE wildlife mark test doesn't do much. The idea is stability, better known as SUSTAINED performance, and that's where SD8 Gen 1 ****s itself. Try running a Wildlife standard stress test (20-minute loop) and post the screenshot, you'll see what I mean.

I only saw the perf-z indicator from samsung though.. so yeah.. i know i might just straight up wrong about this I just straight saying what I saw.. and honestly I'm not an expert in this.. just a mere consumer..
Yeah I got you.. it goes downhill even after the first one.. what I'm trying to say was that I never reach that score before in warm room so yeah it's mainly the CPU problem..
What mainly being my concern before was I'm scared that I got scammed with a fake/unoriginal/refurbished tab s8.....
Harry Potter plays fluently on Tab S8 Plus here.
I have sent my S8 to my mom and bought S8 plus. Did not restore, set it up from scratch. No lagging in games, including HP. So, it could be related to thermal soliton in S8 plus as it is bigger

Yes you have to run 4 adb Commands that also disables game booster and game launcher then GOS will stay disabled even after restart. I've done this and turn ram plus off. I also disabled or put into deep sleep all of the bs apps. I also went to advance features and turned off all of everything causes I don't use the s-pen so no need for air actions and stuff to be on. If you want the ADB commands let me know.
