S20FE Factory Unlocked U1 version bypasses hotspot throttle if I add DUN to the APN. - Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Questions & Answers

Edit—this is on an old AT&T unlimited plus plan that has a 10gb hotspot cap before they throttle you.
If I delete the DUN parameter from the APN TYPE on settings, then the hotspot data I use has been counted for hotspot cap.
What’s special about the DUN parameter that is allowing me to bypass the 10gb hotspot throttle on my AT&T unlimited plus plan?

[Q] ATT: non-smartphone APN settings

Hey,
I have been on the non-smartphone plan unlimited by ATT for about 4 months. They don't recognize the i9100 as a smartphone. Now I can not access internet/data. I was wondering what APN settings I should be using to fix it.
Thanks

[Q] Connnecting to Cingular APN

Anyone successfully connect to the old cingular apn? It won't let me get a 3G data connection (I get signal bars with an exclamation point on the icon). If I force 2G, it will fully connect to edge. Then if I select 3G as my preferred network type the signal icon switches to 3g then H and then back to the exclamation point all very quickly. I have tried a couple apn settings without any luck. Since I'm getting service, but it won't give me data, is there something baked in the phone not allowing me to connect? I can put the sim in my old phone (optimus g) and it connects fine.
I can connect to the normal "nxtgenphone" apn but I don't want to right now.
any help or thoughts on this would be appreciated
isnt cingular the old tmobile? cingular doesnt exist anymore from what i understand, so you cant expect to connect to it.
Cingular is ATT now.

I can connect to the att apns, but my download speed is a whopping 0.5 Mbps. Connecting to cingular apn, which I can do with my old phone, at least gets me back into 3g speeds.
Are you on an lte provisioned account? If so the older apn's are locked out. Att did this because of the ability to bypass the throttle restrictions when on an unlimited plan. As far as the apn that works for 2g, that's probably the mms network.

Check the attached screenshot for the APN settings, even though its called ATT. Its worth double checking. Otherwise, two things should happen - find your old phone and get them to reprovision your account to work with the old APN, or troubleshoot with them and find out why you're getting such **** data speeds.

Are you on an older unlimited Nation plan or Family talk plan with unlimited data? If so, your speeds are being throttled after surpassing 3gb. Those download rates are tell tale. AT&T has blocked APNS other than NXTGENPHONE for those using a capable LTE device for the reasons mentioned above . If you were to change the APN to regular 3g ATTPhone or Cingular WAP. Your account is auto provisioned to reduce speeds.
Yeah throttling is the issue. Just strange I can go through cingular with a different lte capable phone.

Using a Family Share Plan I had connected via the default AT&T APN. I believe it was AT&T "phone" APN. However, I recently switched to my company provides AT&T Corporate Mobile Share Plan, and I had to switch my APN to AT&T "PTA" APN in order to get LTE to work. This is what I'm currently using on my Nexus 6. AT&T's NXTGENPHONE APN did work for me when I was running the 5.0 Developer Preview on my Nexus 5 on the AT&T Corporate Plan. However I lost the settings for it. Does anyone have a listing of the APN settings for it? I would like to compare speed tests.
Nevermind, got it from source

Hotspot provisioning hack?

I'm currently on Verizon with unlimited data, but am considering changing to T-Mobile. On Verizon we have to hack the hotspot provisioning to get around Verizon's limits on hotspot data usage. It's my understanding that the $80 T-Mobile unlimited talk, text and 4G-LTE data allows only 7GB of hotspot data usage per month (or at least that's what they told me).
I'm not familiar with T-Mobile versions of the G4, but does a hotspot provisioning hack exist that will allow unlimited data for hotspot usage?
I normally use about 35GB of data per month. Does T-Mobile throttle you?
Sorry for the newbie questions, but would appreciate some advise from those with experience.
Thanks,
-Joe
I did the exact same thing as you, switched from VZ to TMO. Much happier - when I get signal. Loving the 12 band of LTE, I get signal pretty much anywhere when I lock my phone to that band. You can't beat TMO's unlimited plan either. Yes, there are a few TetheringProvision hacks around. They're all dependent on what model phone you have and what firmware you're running. If you'd give out your phone brand/model and what version of Android you're running, you're likely to get some info either in the forum or privately.

Is anyone with a Verizon Unlimited Data plan able to Wifi Tether?

Hi,
I have Verizon Unlimited Data Plan (UDP) and I am looking for a phone that I can Wifi tether with, undetected, on the Verizon Network.
Is anyone with a Verizon Unlimited Data plan able to Wifi Tether?
Thank you!

Mobile hotspot verification

I have a factory unlocked note 9 that I'm using on AT&T. The mobile hotspot feature has always worked flawlessly until a recent update which has caused it to start doing some sort of carrier verification. It now says that my plan doesn't support mobile tethering. I switched a while back from a grandfathered at&t unlimited plan and the my current plan does actually include tethering. Mobile hotspot worked fine both before and after I switched plans, and I'd prefer to continue using it as it was so it doesn't use up my tethering limit. Thanks for the help!
