Can someone with chinese Mate 40 Pro version please test this GMS installation - Huawei Mate 40 Pro Questions & Answers

This video claims GMS installation on Mate 40 Pro and uses similar method as Googlefier (local backup restore, LZPlay, patched MicroG). It did not work for me. Not sure if this is just click bait or if there is a difference between international and chinese version of Mate 40 Pro.

it works on chinese version. emuii 11

Can someone please tell my why LZplay works on chinese version and does not on international?
Can the Lzplay apk be patched?

I've found an App which gives you GMS on the Mate 40 Pro, although its more of a Virtual Machine you run on your Mate 40 Pro so it's not as Snappy like the Phone itself but it works. So if you need to do some Banking or use one of thoose E-Scooter Apps it'll do the Job just right.
Basically you just need to Install the VMOS Pro apk, and boot the Android 7.1 System Enable the Google Services in the Settings, restarting the App and you're good to go.

Notice: Gpay also doesn't work with this Method

It doesn't work with the Global version of Mate 40 Pro, only with the Chinese one...

Does anyone with some Android technical background understand why? I have a feeling 99% of the community is just waiting for something to happen without even trying things out and even wanting to understand what's happening under the hood...
I would be happy to debug things but just need a hint where to look/start.
Is there any info what LZplay exactly did? Did Huawei leave stubs for GMS in the system partition and LZplay leveraged escalated device administrator rights to do things?

i have a Chinese version. i installed GMS on my phone and it works well so far. dont know if it will be banned in the future.

https://medium.com/@topjohnwu/huawe...oor-to-reinstall-google-services-c3a5dd71a7cd
Good article at least for my own education. So no stubs but undocumented API. I guess Huawei removed those in international firmware of Mate 40 just to comply more with Google legal ban. But in China they feel more comfortable and left those in. What a mess based on geopolitics...
MDM SDK is available, the question is if Huawei will even approve the apk signing with speficic calls...

Based on the Weather Widget Location he has a Chinese Version in which you can Install GMS. Doesn't matter to me i (we?) need a way for the International Version...

Dear friends! Would anyone describe in English what to do and how to get to the international version?

Hi to everyone.
I have a Mate 30 Pro 5G LIO-AN00, it's a Chinese device with EMUI 11 updated. I have got it since december, 2019 with Google services working nice ... but 2 days ago I make a mistake so I lost my Google Services.
I followed twice videos of John Wang and at the previous video of him I followed you all the steps RIGHT and at the end of the video I received a lot of Google notifications that my device is not certified.
Then I followed to him at second video in order to delete Google notifications step by step but at the end Google notifications continues ... .... What can I do ???
Before this I reset my Mate 30 Pro and I started from 0. I only use WiFi network, not SIM card .... but it's impossible to delete Google notifications ... :crying: :crying: :crying:
Any advice, please ??
Thank you so much in advance !!!!

Wow, that is awesome !! GMS on a chinese mate 40 RS. Thanks for sharing. I do have a few questions.
1. Where are you using the device? Are you in the USA geographically?
2. Are there any problems with sending and receiving group texts? i.e. Do you ever get a problem where you message on a group text, but the message arrives to the group members individually instead of in the group? I had this problem when i was using a chinese find x2 pro in the US on Tmobile, otherwise it worked perfectly
3. does google assistant "hey google" and google news feed work?
Thanks a bunch!

Mate 10 China re brand success!!

Omg was this not a simple process, finally running L29C636 on the mate 10, fully re branded, the China firmware wasn't bad but too much chinese
Managed to brick it in the process, FRP locked, Bootloader locked, after a long night crying in my sleep we finally manged to unbrick and do it properly, or I should say he did lol
All thanks go to FUNKYHUAWEI, jesus this ain't like it was on the Mate 9, that was s, so simple, FH is finding a way to simplify it but that might not happen, you really gotta know what you're doing here but with FH's help...he made it look easy, very happy now, I'll rebrand to C432 when thats available lol, I feel much better about doing it again

Sure.
Serious question. I understand many want to rebrand Chinese ROM to international L29 ROM. But why? My understanding is that you can change AL00 system language to English and you can install Google Play (and services). You can even uninstall all the Chinese bloatware apps via Huawei's Application Store manager app.
So what are the pros and cons? Surely there will be more updates too with the AL00 ROM considering Huawei is a Chinese manufacturer?
So why debrand? Why not just stick to AL00 and do all the above? What am I missing?

You will get Hiboard instead of Google's version of that board. Hivoice instead of Google Now. Since the yellow book is filled with Chinese contacts, the dial pad shows up predictive Chinese contacts from yellow book whenever you dial. The Music and Video app has Chinese online content. And maybe because of the new "AI" introduction you might face China based AI pop up tips. You can turn off the Hiboard, but you can't replace it with Google board in a way you get the same swipe left shortcut. You can't remove nor replace the Hivoice (swipe up shortcut). The Music and Video app you can only get around by hiding the app and using alternate app from playstore. The Chinese Yellow book problem in dial pad also could not be resolved, however not sure if its different on the Oreo + EMUI 8. Most bloatware can be deleted but a couple of them cannot be. So those who wish to use the Chinese rom be sure you can adapt to these. Also not sure if 3rd party NFC payment apps will work.
Up to now I have brought Huawei phones from China because Huawei releases these phones internationally a couple months later, it is priced cheaper and more faster rom updates. So i didn't take much issue to the problems stated above. But this time i might go for the local version of Huawei itself as the release date here is not far off and the price is as cheap as the official price in China (getting from re sellers in China would increase price by 100-200$) and if i get 4-6 rom updates a year (https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-9/help/how-rom-update-year-t3696371) that should be more than enough for me.

I can't remember all but one of them is the chinese yellow page in dialer.
And one more thing not sure if they fix the notification bug in mate 10 cause in mate 9 all chinese firmwares has a bug that won't allow notifications like WhatsApp and Facebook to appear till you open the application itself.

That is more to do with changing the settings that makes selected apps to close when phone is in sleep and also maybe toggling notification permissions. Also there is toggle in wifi settings which turns off wifi when in sleep.

All the replys are quite accurate. From my experience with the Mate 9, another thing I noticed is that there are some features that work only if you know Chinese language. For example, you can set the phone to answer a call, hands free, by voice but you have to say "answer" in Chinese. I could never figure a way around that.

It's not about settings, the notifications bug in Chinese firmwares is true and you cannot do anything about it,you can check by yourself the mate 9 forum.i don't have the phone anymore but i remember correctly.

When you rebrand the phone you will get the ota specified for the region u rebranded to,so no worry about that.
Once rebranded the phone acts like a genuine phone from the region it's rebranded to. Ota updates work normally. You can use volte, WiFi calling and so on
According to O2 in the UK, Volte only works with phones with O2 firmware so it's no point rebranding specifically if you want Volte and you will use an O2 SIM card.
Hi, did you by any chance managed to achieved root as well ? Saw funkyhuawei post on reddit regarding rooting mate 10.

I haven't used EMUI8.0 however for all previous versions, you cannot replace the Hiboard. You can only disable the Hiboard via home screen settings. I don't know if it can be done after rooting though.

ARCORE not support by P20 Pro?!

I just bought a P20 Pro and try to install ARCORE apps. However I am surprised ARCORE is not compatible with P20 Pro!!! I just checked the official ARCORE web site... only P20 (not Pro) is on the list
You are totally correct, why were you inder the impression that the P20 Pro is compatible?

Does anyone have any update on this? I tried tweeting Hauwei and Google but no response from either. I think it's crazy that they did a comprehensive demo of ARcore working on the P20 Pro at their launch event and not a word about it since. They even had CEO of Google France at the press conference talking about it!

It seems a couple of P20 variants are listed as being officially supported (EML-L29, EML-L09 https://developers.google.com/ar/discover/#supported_devices) but no mention of the Pro. That said the Galaxy S9 is not officially supported yet either so it is probably just a case of the team updating official support in the next few weeks.
In the meantime I think there are methods of patching the apk to work on other devices (see https://github.com/thestr4ng3r/arcore-patch) I may look further into it if I get chance later.

Nope, can't find anything. I'm getting the Norwegian site as default though. Although I saw the stuttering demo from the french P20 Pro launch. So basically, they have confirmed it.
Let's hope they're ironing out some bugs before release.
Not too impressed with framrates though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsdeeLp9A7s
My gf's S7 is also supposed to be supported ( https://developers.google.com/ar/discover/ ) But Google Play says her phone isn't supported.
Basically, a normal Google product launch
I saw its available on apkpure but is the ARCORE just a framework and needs a compatible app to actually do anything? There is no icon for example

I got it installed today. ?
Hi all,
I just bought a Huawei P20 pro (CLT-L09) and made all firmware updates (no root).
I cannot install arcore from google play store (Device not compatible).
I tried to install apk files from apk mirror (I tried different versions from 1.3 to 1.5) but when I try to launch an app using arcore, I always have a black screen). When I try to launch "Measure" from google, i have a message telling me that my device is not compatible...
Do some of you have the same issue ?
Do someone have any solution ?
ARCore runs fine on my P20 Pro because it is supported.

Using VOG-AL00 in Europe (Spain). What works and what doesnt works?

Hi! I finally decided to register and participate.
A good friend of mine is in Shanghai right know, and I ask him to buy the P30 PRO there for me, since it´s only 590€ at the moment.
I´ll be posting my personal experience with the chinesse version on this post, but first I wanted to ask some questions.
- Chinese version is ONLY labeled as VOG AL00 right?
- What can I expect? Any problems installing google services or using other language than chinese?
- How do the chinese versions of huawei phones usually do with firmware updates?
- Anything I should know?
Thank you all!
also would like to know..
also VOG AL00 is one chinese models but there more.. for example from GSM Arena Versions: ELE-L29, ELE-L09 (Global); ELE-AL00, ELE-TL00 (China)
but I think there are more than just those 2 maybe an AL10 or something like that. I'm pretty sure if it is not going to start with L (after the dash) then it is not intl
Hi there, I bought a VOG-AL00 as well, but I'm currently in Brazil. Everything seems to work fine besides "wallets" (NFC payments does not work) and "Ok Google Voice Match". The voice match will only work when you have a Google app opened on your screen (such Maps, Assistance, and etc.).
I really would like to find some way to fix these issues, specially my NFC payments.
are there anyway to fix that problem with NFC ? I have the same VOG-AL00 model and live in Brazil whowever I cand return the cellphone to change to a global one..

What is your experience with this phone? Is the hardware exactly the same? Any problems? Did you flash it?
Because I'm wondering if it is possible to flash it to a normal global firmware. I've included a screenshot of the device specs. I would like to use it here in Europe without the Chinese software. Any advice is welcome. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, but VMOS is not really an option. It's like having 2 separate mobile phones...
Yes I have tested and it work, putting up a video on YouTube soon
On my mate 40 Porsche RS

Have you got Chinese version ,isn't it?
Yeah, international versions definitely do not work. I was hoping that after FW update on the Mate 40 pro something would change but there is no change. I am actually fine with MicroG now but still missing just a couple of GMS features.

It does not really improve anything. It could maybe help to recover licenses of Google linked premium apps (not purchased via Google Play Store!).

Thank you for the reply. I am also wondering if Google pay/Wallet work or not? It is not working on mine.
Btw, can you add additional google accounts after the process? I tried multiple times but not working either.

You can use CURVE that works like a charm.
You can't add accounts later.... only during first configuration.
