Best thing to do is start from scratch
Use this guide to recover it
https://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?guide=2
You need to view this page in desktop mode, if using a mobile browser.
In step 5, change the flash option at the bottom of the Mi Flash Tool to the 'clean all' option
I assume from it being K20 Pro and with a global ROM, that you have an Indian phone.
Get the latest Indian fastboot ROM from here
https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/miui/raphael/
You want the Redmi K20 Pro Indian Stable Fastboot ROM.
---------- Post added at 07:46 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:29 AM ----------
After flashing TWRP use the following command to boot into TWRP
Code:
fastboot oem reboot-recovery
Do this immediately after flashing TWRP, whilst still in fastboot mode and connected to the PC.
This will boot into your newly installed TWRP.
Now flash Magisk.
Get Magisk from here
https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases/tag/v20.4
Always get Magisk from the official github repository, so you know you have a genuine unmodified version.

Did you WIPE data or FORMAT data?
It is also clearly distinguished in TWRP, one option is called format and the other wipe
Two different things, for flashing different ROM etc, it is required to FORMAT data (wiping only removes files and folders but keeps previous filesystem with its previous encryption, formating is required to let the new ROM access storage)

You need to fully extract the ROM. It is a Unix/Linux zipped tar file, which needs unzipping twice in Windows. After the first time you should have a *.tar file, which you then unzip again. After fully extracting you should point the Mi Flash Tool to the folder that was extracted.

do not panic , it is a very simple problem , you don't need to flash fastboot rom , just do the following:
away
1. Go into recovery ,
2. flash Magisk uninstaller , this will restore your boot.img
3. reboot your phone and enjoy.
It will boot normally do not worry.

Rom not Booting

Please Help..I Unlocked my Bootloader today and then Flashed TWRP via Fastboot...The TWRP works fine but i cant boot into my ROM..It's Stuck in the Bootlogo ..What should I do?
Fixed!
**Update**
If anybody is facing the same issue..Root your Device after flashing TWRP and the ROM will boot Fine..
I do not own a mi max 2 but it's generally like this:
1) Download mi max 2 stock rom( any version) on your computer.
2) Boot into twrp - Reboot - Power off
3) Flash the rom using xiaomi flash tool.
4) You are good to go.
*I didn't know if xiaomi mi max 2 stock rom is out there yet but still it's worth a try.

Yeah, but the point is to keep to custom recovery (TWRP), and by flashing a stock ROM with Xiaomi flash tool, you are also re-flashing the recovery to the stock one.

Yeah, if you are on the stock Rom and want to use the TWRP recovery, then you need to patch your boot otherwise, it won't pass the Mi logo screen, so just root, or just flash Magisk.
I have also bricked my mi5 last month with only twrp can still function and so i power off the phone and flash stock miui rom using mi flash tool. Then i reflash the twrp as it becomes stock recovery by following these few simple steps in the link below. The link i copied below is for mi 5, but it's basically the same for all xiaomi phones. Just find the twrp that is suitable for your phone as i have experienced before that when i use twrp version that is not so suitable for my mi5 will have bug such as can't swipe to the right to open twrp on first boot.
Here is the link↓

Hope you can solve your problems!:victory:

So what i recommend you to do now is flash stock miui recovery then reflash twrp and flash into other roms you like. It may takes time but it will surely work. Good luck!?

PS i have my rooted phone with stable miui 11 version and twrp installed

Hello, this happens because official MIUI boot.img verifies if recovery.img is also official/original.
You have 2 options to resolve the boot problem:
1. If you want to keep TWRP then modify boot.img... http://en.miui.com/thread-249666-1-1.html (with R4X image of course)
and flash it from TWRP or fastboot: fastboot flash boot boot.img
2. If you want original recovery, get "recovery.img" from the exact TGZ image as your MIUI ZIP
and flash it: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

9t Pro bricked, can only access fastboot HELP

[SOLVED]
I need help I just bricked my phone and can only access fastboot.
I just unlocked my 9t pro to install a custom rom and followed the steps of this video ( can't post link but it's called: Redmi K20 Pro / MI 9T Pro - INSTALL Pixel Experience ROM Official | Android 9 Pie)
I managed to install twrp, made a backup of dtbo, boot, system and data and then wiped dalvik, cache, system and Data. After that I flashed DM Verity Force Encrypter and proceeded to flash havoc-os which gave me Error 7. I figured I might need to reboot the recovery, after doing so only fastboot comes up anymore. I cannot access twrp and have no OS installed. Please help.

This is the problem with random YouTube videos, they don't always give good advice.
There is no reason to back up dtbo, unless you are going to install an overclocked screen refresh rate mod.
There's no reason to wipe system.
There's no need to install DM Verify Force Encrypter, unless you know what they are for and you choose to disable DM Verify and/or permanently disable encryption.
Go here https://xiaomifirmwareupdater.com/archive/miui/raphael/
And choose the fastboot ROM for the version you want to install, then flash it in the Mi Flash Tool.
When flashing you MUST change the flash option at the bottom of the screen to 'clean all'. If you do not change this you will brick your phone (worse than it is now)
After this you can start again. Your best solution to flashing is to search these forums. There's many good guides here

My first encounter with bootloops and a nearly bricked device

Before we start, I am on an unlocked boot loader with Stock EU rom along with twrp/magisk installed.
So I went ahead and downloaded the latest full rom from c.mi.com and proceded to flash it via twrp, but before that, I made a nandroid backup just for safekeeping. Everything went well but when I tried to install magisk it gave me cannot mount system error. So i tried restarting Twrp but the whole storage was now encrypted even though I took of pin/password from the previous MiUi version. So I googled a bit and tried different Twrp version but none of them even booted but the original version so I gave up and just restored the nandroid backup and this is where the boot loop problem started.
In the end, I went ahead and flashed the whole thing using miflash which went smoothly but not without me being utterly depressed the whole time thinking that I might have hard bricked my device.
Is there any way I can avoid all this headache in the future when Miui 11 and android Q comes out cause I am pretty scared to even try to flash anything atm.
You need to wipe data after flashing TWRP otherwise you won't boot and also the phone will restore the stock recovery on reboot if you don't flash dm_verity

Do you have the Mi 9T Pro?
If you have, only latest orangefox 1.0.0.7 or Mauronofrio's TWRP working for this device. Abhisheks or LR TWRP doesn't work on Mi 9T Pro.

Yup Mi9t Pro user here, and yea for me only latest Mauronofrio's twrp works, but not sure if it will work with Miui11/Q when it is released sometime today
Just googled the orangafox recovery you mentioned, is the one with OrangeFox-R10.0_7-Stable-raphael name?

I think it will work. Because I'm on indian Q Firmware with LOS 17 and there was no issue with Mauronofrio's TWRP.
Yes that's the right orangefox version. I didn't remember the exact name. I tried it once but went again back to TWRP because i grew up with it.

Thanks for the info regarging Twrp. everything will go smoothly this time hopefully.
I also wanted to ask that did you format data after installing twrp via fastboot? I was reading on Twrp thread that if you get encrypted after flashing twrp then you will have to format all data for it to disable encryption. This is the only thing that I am still confused about and I really dont want to format my internal storage again . Can you maybe list steps that you took to upgrade to Android Q? thanks

I have Mi 9T pro like you and flashed Orangefox recovery version _07 and no problem at all, i also flashed disable_dm_verity just to be safe and i believe this is where people get stuck on mi logo, if you flash this file it blocks your system from restoring the stock recovery on reboot and makes your TWRP/Orangefox permanent. Not sure if that will do the trick tho.

3. Restart the phone to fastboot mode (Volume - and Power at the same time)
4. In the folder we find flash.bat, run it, it will flash two files vbmeta and recovery
5. The device will reboot, after rebooting you can boot into the recovery manually Volume + and Turn On Simultaneously

Sorry i try to take link in here but this stupid server rules... "To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding!"
Go to miuios.cz to section redmi 8/8A, post MIUI CZ SK ROM + TWRP, you must be loged and in VMach3 post is this link.
I have only tried to boot mentioned recovery, but it was not working for me.
Code:
~/Downloads$ fastboot boot recovery-TWRP-3.3.1-1127-REDMI8-CN.img
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 2.107s]
booting...
OKAY [ 2.121s]it
finished. total time: 4.228s
~/Downloads$
After automatic reboot started system. When manualy restarted phone booted to vendor recovery mode. No adb was available and any try to boot to system was failure - phone always booted to recovery mode. To boot to system I needed to select "wipe data" and then reboot to phone (but all previous data/configuration was deleted).
One more try with this Unofficial TWRP 3.3.1-1127 for REDMI 8 by wzsx150, this time it was success, everything was working smoothly.

TWRP is language and version (global, china etc.) neutral. You have on first screen by first run button on right side at the bottom where you can select english language.
If you want root your phone with magisk, go directly to canary version. By stable version I got root only by adb, other apps were denied root access and freeze for a short time (for ex. Total commander beta).
On the other hand I was not able to use phone with not encrypted data with none of magisk version (stable or canary) even if I had "Preserve forced Encryption" unticked.
Code:
~$ adb shell getprop ro.crypto.state
encrypted
Tested on MIUI 11.0.4 by xiaomi.eu.
Unable to install official TWRP in Redmi 8, Miui 11.0.7. It installed. and then vanished when rebooted. and then boot looped. Had to flash original recovery and boot img to reboot.
Had made sure that I didn't boot to system after flashing TWRP. and boot to recovery instead. It flashed okay. Could use the root after installing Magisk. But on reboot, all was gone. Boot looped.

Hello,
Did you reboot via button combo or fastboot reboot?
I read somewhere that Magisk is to be flashed before reboot.
Anyway, you will succeed.
