We are very excited to announce the beta of Paranoid Android Ruby, based on Android 11.
On the first launch, you’ll notice a clean setup with a beautiful wallpaper from Hampus Olsson, who teamed up with us again to create several beautiful pieces of artwork. Hampus is a multi-disciplinary artist whose design stands for itself and we’re glad to have him onboard. We also added further UI touches that we believe enhance the overall user experience. You can find all of the Paranoid Android wallpapers and many more in the Abstruct app, included in our builds.
Our builds are based on the Code Aurora Forum Android base, which is optimized for Qualcomm platforms and has a higher degree of performance, battery life, and functionality compared to the Android Open Source Project platform. The Paranoid Android team and contributors are focusing on squashing existing bugs, and implementing and improving features, performance, and stability. We are dedicated to providing a user experience with the stability that you can expect from stock ROMs with best-in-class performance and features to help you get the most out of your device.
Notice
As we are growing on our list of supported devices in each release, we require of a stronger build environment so we can speed up the compilation process for releases. Based on the actual Quartz 4 list, we support over 30 devices, which takes between 2 and 3 days for all the builds to be completed without counting possible compilation issues or rebuild needs, based on our current specs.
We kindly ask all of you that are in position to donate anything, to help and support us so we can provide better and faster build releases, as well as increase the download speed of our servers, all looking for your enjoyment.
You can donate here
Device-specific issues
Call related issues on Google Fi
Miracast
There are likely many other issues, these are just the most prominent to me. Don't come into this with the expectation any issue you come across will be fixed in a timely manner.
Note: Custom kernels are NOT supported unless the kernel says it supports PA and GMS is included!
Requirements
My preferred logging format is:
adb logcat -b all -d *:E > logcat-err.log
adb logcat -b all -d > logcat.log
adb shell dmesg > dmesg.log
Then you can upload them to https://del.dog and send me the link for each one.
Download (Note, OP8 & Pro builds are no longer unified)
Instructions
Download the latest fastboot zip we released (hint: it has an -image appended to zip name)
Reboot to bootloader.
Flash the fastboot zip with "fastboot update pa-*-signed-image.zip"
Reboot into recovery after it is done flashing & wipe userdata.
Starting with Beta 4, you must clean flash due to recent commits related to userdata.
If you already flashed Beta 1, then you can just sideload the OTA in recovery if it is avaliable, although there might be only fastboot images up for the latest version so keep that in mind.

Might want to clarify the installation instructions with a guide or you'll be asked 100 times. Berry to keep the thread for development rather than installation right?
Thanks for your hard work on the ROM, definitely a little more needed for the guide though
Fyi I know how to flash it but a lot of others won't

Is IT possible to make IT pass safety net on the 8 pro ?

Whoever flashes this, please let me know how the camera performs. Also, which camera app is used? Thanks.

so i tried a million times to get magisk manager to patch the Pixel Experience 11 Beta boot image. i went into settings and changed update channel in magisk manager settings to beta. once i changed to beta, i went back and patched the stock pe 11 boot image and the magisk_patched image rooted my device now. i can always tell because most boot img are about 98MB in size. using titanium as we speak. this is what i did to get root on pixel experience 11 beta. see if this works for PA 11.

*This ROM pack is using the TWRP backup method, not the traditional ZIP flashing, please follow this guide for flashing!
CLEAN FLASH
I will assume that you have your bootloader unlock and TWRP installed. If not, follow this guide for Lenovo Z5 Pro GT (works on Z5 Pro too) made by SrCDA.
1. Unzip the ROM pack, put the folder you got after unzipping into your device's /TWRP/Backups folder.
2. In TWRP, erase System, Cache, Dalvik/ART Cache, and Data.
3. On the home screen in TWRP, select "Restore".
4. Select "dotOS-P-v3.0-LenovoZ5Pro-******".
5. Tick every box it provided.
6. Click "Start" / "Restore".
7. After restoring, simply reboot your device.
8. Enjoy!
DIRTY FLASH (Not Recommended)
1. Unzip the ROM pack, put the folder you got after unzipping into your device's /TWRP/Backups folder.
2. In TWRP, erase Cache and Dalvik/ART Cache.
3. Follow the same procedure in 3-8 as "CLEAN FLASH"

What's working:Basic Cell Phone Features (Call, Message)
LTE & Dual-Sim support
Camera
Audio
Flash
Vibration
Wi-Fi & HotSpot
Stereo Speakers
What's not working / buggy:Bluetooth (Working partially, but buggy on connections)

You need to use the correct TWRP version for Z5 Pro NOT GT. You can find the recent versions supporting android 9.0 here: https://t.me/LenovoZ5Pro/8504?fbclid=IwAR1r2A7drk7BzjBXFgSeVrNtMyya8rmMNXSV76SQnpmHd--vYL0syZ_D86c

Important notice
This is an alpha build. Expect issues and hiccups here and there.
And hence, we decided to not publish the device tree as it’s very incomplete for the time being. It’ll be published later when the build stablizes.
arter97 kernel is included by default.
Open GApps nano is included.
The builds were possible this early thanks to 33bca’s work on Mi 9T.
See below for list of issues. Those will be gradually ironed out in the future.
Device-specific issues
Magisk is included by default.
SELinux is permissive.
SafetyNet check will fail.
Lawnchair is included by default.
Fingerprint sensor only works by tapping on it instead of pressing down the power button.
Call audio is broken.
VoLTE, VoWiFi doesn't work.
There are occasional lock-ups upon screen-off.
Cutout overlay isn't here yet. 2 front-facing cameras will show as a 2 separate holes.
No other breakages were spotted in terms of hardware functionality.
There’s a lot of room left for future performance and battery optimizations.
Custom kernels are NOT supported!

Issue - I turned on the Always On Display and the display turned unresponsive. Resorted to a data wipe.
hi, thanks for this rom, but when i try reboot to FASTBOOTD, its show me that error, what can i do now, thanks
Tried this.. I loved it, pretty much the smoothest rom out there. I was on the firmware 11.0.6 before flashing.
I experienced the ghost touch issue when touching the fingerprint, like someone have posted in another thread.
Thought it might be related to firmware so downgraded to 11.0.4 and by mistake locked the device :crying:
I have to wait for another 7 days now.
Hope new update will come by than.
Thanks for this beauty
Is this rom still active?

Nice to see you here! Kudos
Looks good, wonder if the gaming gets a boost?
I was debating on getting a Nubia until I saw the camera and thought nooooo.
I'll give this a shot.
@ProtoDeVNan0 see if you can force FHD and 120 it's perfect for battery / performance
Also the firmware you've tested it on is Android 10 are you planning on an 11 release?

@ProtoDeVNan0 Are there any mirrors? Google drive keeps throwing errors when trying to download. Saying too many have downloaded? What in the actual hell Google? I appreciate your hard work and look forward in trying this out.
Is there anyone who wants to share a link to a working download? Have been waiting patiently but this thread may be dead. Thanks in advance
Does this work on the OnePlus 7 pro yet. That would be awesome if it can. Lmk asap

We are very excited to announce the alpha of Paranoid Android Ruby, based on Android 11.

Device-specific issues:
Call related issues on Google Fi
Miracast
There are likely many other issues, these are just the most prominent to me. Don't come into this with the expectation any issue you come across will be fixed in a timely manner.
Note: Custom kernels are NOT supported unless the kernel says it supports PA and GMS is included!
Requirements
My preferred logging format is:
adb logcat -b all -d *:E > logcat-err.log
adb logcat -b all -d > logcat.log
adb shell dmesg > dmesg.log
Then you can upload them to https://del.dog and send me the link for each one.
Download
Instructions
Download the latest build we released.
If you haven't flashed PA before, flash the "-image" build in bootloader with "fastboot update [build].
If you have flashed PA before then sideload the OTA in recovery.
Reboot into recovery right after that's done flashing, and wipe userdata.
Starting with Beta 3, you must clean flash due to recent commits related to userdata.
If you already flashed Beta 1, then you can just sideload the OTA in recovery if it is avaliable, although there might be only fastboot images up for the latest version so keep that in mind.

Leftover from when XDA DevDB was a thing, Android 10 was the latest version at the time when I created the OP8/Pro thread. Guess I can put whatever I want there now since the rework.

Ah. Good to know.
This is the first time I've flashed a ROM like this. It has several .sig files missing. I'm guessing that's due to not being OnePlus firmware. It fails at the vendor.img though. It returns:
extracting vendor.img (1323 MB) to disk...ziparchive W 12-22 14:58:22 6940 3964 Zip: unable to truncate file to 1387766136: File too large
fastboot: error:
failed to extract 'vendor.img': I/O error
Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Figured it out. It was lack of hard drive space (I'm using a tiny laptop with only Win10 and it struggles to keep 3GB of space open).

Device-specific issues
FOD has some issues with dimming, gets there eventually but goes full HBM then fades into dim. Also pretty slow on enrolling, but in actual use it's pretty fine.

Download
Instructions
Download the latest build we released with "-image" appended near the end.
Flash that in bootloader with "fastboot update [build].zip"
Reboot into recovery right after that's done flashing, and wipe userdata.

work Rominstaller PE?
I know the OP says reboot to bootloader and then enter the given command. Wanted to check if we need to be on stock OOS or we can flash this from other custom ROMs. Need clearity as custom ROMs have custom recovery and was wondering if it will work.
Also if we need to be on stock OOS, can we just flash stock recoevey and flash Pandroid.
Also the download link as the updated rom or should we wait for the feds fixed ROM.
TIA.

You can't flash this from a recovery, it's a fastboot zip to be flashed in bootloader.

Thank you for your prompt response. May be I was not clear in asking my doubt. My point here is,
1. Do we need to be on stock rom or can come from custom rom.
2. This phone is been tricky to run around as power users without TWRP. So when you say fastboot/bootloader, do you mean to say "fastbootd" mode or regular "fastboot" mode.
TIA

1.) Doesn't matter, just make sure you are on the latest firmware from stock.
2.) I mean bootloader, the zip will flash boot/dtbo/recovery/vbmeta/vbmeta_system from bootloader then automatically reboot into fastbootd to flash system/system_ext/product/odm/vendor.

Awesome, this clears my uncertain mind. Sometimes my curious mind raise a lot of irrelevant questions which might come up as rude or noobs to most.
Excuse me, what do FOD and HBM mean?

Fingerprint on display and high brightness mode I think
Installed the ROM. Did everything as stated. However ran into Qualcomm Crash dump. Tried it multiole times but same results. I had to get into recovery again and formate data to get to boot up again and only to crash again. However, after multiple failed attemptes, I flashed back crDroid and tried booting that ROM, it failed to start. So tried to flash this one last time and it booted. Been in for about 39 mins now and there is no sign of crash dump as yet. Will report back if it happens again with logcat.
I came from pe, but afer installation the PA Rom stuck at First boot...

You tell...
FAQ:
Before using the ROM:
Q. Can I have an ETA for the next build?
A. Please dont ask for ETA's. release shedule will be monthly after source update and sometimes bi weekly if bug fixes or features are added
Q. Does this ROM support custom kernels?
A. Yes feel free to flash any kernel you desire. remember vbmeta needs to have verity and verification disabled
Q. Does this ROM include GApps or do I have to flash them separately?
A. Yes minimal gapps from mind the gapps. just whats needed for playstore google assistant and android auto
Q. Does this ROM use the camera or gallery app from stock?
A. No but can be installed from playstore
Q. Does this ROM have Extended/Scrolling screenshot?
A. No, extended screenshot was implemented using an app extracted and modified from manufacturer firmware/system images and is proprietary as well. It led to the closing of many ROM's sources on GitHub.
Q. Does this ROM have FaceUnlock?
A. No, FaceUnlock was also an app extracted and modified from some manufacturers. Even Google removed the Trusted Face (FaceUnlock) feature for security reasons on Android 9.0/10.x. Adding the modified feature did the same to ROM sources as described above.
Q. Can you add (insert favorite weather provider)?
A. No, we cannot add more weather providers as the implementations change and we (the ROM) now have to pay for most services, and that is not cheap, so we decided to use the best free service that we could find, the only way to add your own is for users to apply for their own API key to use their preferred service.
Q. Does this ROM have private official builds with the above proprietary libs included?
A. No, we believe in open source software, this way users know what's in the build and can replicate it themselves, all official builds are built on our build servers using the public sources from GitHub, and no one can (or would) add their own private sources to the build.
Flashing the ROM:
Q. What do I need to know before flashing?
A. Check the flashing instructions...
Q. How do I flash kernel builds?
A1. If it's a .img file, boot into TWRP and go to the install page in TWRP, in the bottom right corner select "install image", select the desired kernel, then select "boot" as the destination, then swipe to flash, then go back to the install screen and install your root method again, if you don't want to lose root and reboot.
A2. If it's a flashable ZIP, you can flash it together with a ROM update or separately. Go to the install page in TWRP, choose the kernel zip (or add it to the flash queue right after the ROM zip). Then add your root method to the queue if you don't want to lose root. Now swipe to flash and reboot afterward.
Using the ROM:
Q. Do I need to provide a logcat if I'm reporting a bug?
A. If you want it to be fixed faster (or at all) then yes, you should definitely provide a logcat AND the model name. (Note: Please just link the logcat from your GDrive, Dropbox, etc. Do not post the content here. Thanks.)
Q. How do I get a logcat, what type should I get, and more questions that can conveniently be answered by my pre-determined answer?
A1. Read this thoroughly. Also, here's a good app for getting logs: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tortel.syslog (Root needed).
A2. If you are already rooted, you can use the built-in feature to make a logcat and provide that. Just look into the others section on the AICP Extras main page.
The ROM should contain everything you need to enjoy Android tm. You don't need to install any Add-ons, simply download the latest ROM then follow the flashing instructions and go!
If you want the device to run the ROM "rooted", you can flash a root solution of your choice after the ROM zip file.
It is STRONGLY recommended to fully wipe your device before flashing and please avoid restoring system apps and system data with Titanium Backup (or with any backup/restore app) as this can cause stability issues that are very hard to debug, restoring regular apps is fine though.
If you believe you know what you're doing - then fine, go ahead, but please don't complain if you experience any strange behavior.
How to flash for the first time
(Again: Don't do it if you don't know!)
1. Download the ROM and transfer it to your PC.
2. Connect device to pc using proper cable
3. reboot device to fastboot
4. Open a terminal and type
fastboot -w update name_of_rom.zip
5. Reboot and set up your device.
6. You can then reboot to bootloader and flash your own magisk patched init_boot.img for root and then boot back to the system.

As far as faceunlock, if you read the op's FAQ section it has an explanation of why its not included.

Thanks, there is a way to add 32 bit support right into the rom (not thru Magisk) and the dev over at StagOS just recently added it to his rom (see this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...tah-official-19-01-2023.4539325/post-88017879) I have used AICP many times over the years, looking forward to flashing
