Battery Drain issue on S20FE exynos version - Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Questions & Answers

Hi Guys!
My phone is using too much battery in background even on standby mode. 3 things consuming battery in background:
1. Camera light sensor
2. Google play services
3. One UI home.
Is there any solution to resolve this?

For 1. Use manual brightness. Rest is for system.

After updating to Pie, the battery life became really bad. From 9 hours SOT to 1-3 hours SOT...
Both phones on power saving method (medium), AOD off, dark mode, disabled rarely use apps.
Anyone able to give some advices on what to do?

not necessarily seeing any issues. it seems that you use the screen not very much and that the rest of the system apps will eventually drain your phones battery before you get the time to use some SOT.
both projections point to over a day of battery life.
alot of people get like 17 hours of total life for about 6 hours of screen in time.
so just use the phone screen more...lol
anyways, factory reset after a big update would be something I'd do right off the bat to get a real baseline.
btw your pie build is ANCIENT!
think of flashing a feb or March build.....
Try wiping the cache Partition and see if that helps

Heavy Battery Drainage in Note 9 (Unlocked) Snapdragon

Heavy battery drainage for last few months. Even more battery drain since One UI 2.0 update in my unlocked Note 9 Snapdragon phone.
Things did:
1. Formatted the entire device.
2. Cleaned cache.
3. Greenified all unnecessary apps.
4. Location access set to only when using the app.
5. Dark mode enabled to all available apps in the device.
6. Fast charging only with original cable.
7. All necessary settings changed.
8. Dark wallpapers and Lock Screen.
Things it always runs on:
1. Bluetooth with Gear S3 and Buds.
2. Location permission turned on when using the app only.
3. Edge Screen set to ON.
4. Edge Lighting set to ON.
5. Screen AOD is set to Tap to Preview.
Im having the same problem too and it made me wonder that samsung might be doing this intentionally forcing you to upgrade to note 10. maybe note 10 sales not doing quite well as expected?
maybe rooting and using a custom firmware might solve this. but which one is more like stock with extra features and easy on the battery?
i am having battery drain on exynos version SM-N960F on stock android pie. it started almost 2 months back. may be some apps are doing this.
maybe you guys need a new battery? mine is fine even on android 10
The sm-n960f has reported terrible battery life across the board since day 1. Few people with it have been happy here on the forums.
I have the snapdragon on 10 and as if right now my phone's been on for 3 days without charge, 4 hours SOT with roughly 6 hours of LTE Pandora streaming.
You can try checking your Google account sync in settings>accounts and backups>accounts>{your Google account}>sync account
Are any of the items showing a circle made of 2 arrows on the right side of the screen? This means you have a sync error. These are because Android/Samsung's battery savers have placed that corresponding app in sleep mode.
So if you have a calendar sync error, you'll need to go to settings and search for "optimize battery usage", and search for both the calendar app and the calendar storage app. (Usually calendar, contacts, ECT have 2 apps) and de-optimize them. This should help immensely.

I just tried whatever you suggested and found that my calendar, contacts, and drive were set to 'optimization' and I just removed them from it. Hopefully, I get to see some improvement now. I will keep you posted. Any other suggestions would be really helpful and welcome.

Just de-optimizing them isn't quote the solution. It only will make a difference if they are failing to sync under account settings>(your Gmail account). You'll know this because alongside calendar, contacts, ECT, there will be a gray circle. And what ends up happening is Google keeps trying to sync, keeping the phone activate and draining battery.
This happened to me sometimes after is updates, but as of Android 10, it hasn't been a problem and battery life has been good.
Maybe your right. I've not seen any improvement in battery as of now. Still draining heavily

You should look under Settings > Device Care > Battery > Battery Usage... See which apps top the list of heavy drains. On mine, I noticed the recent Google Play Services app was draining the battery the most.

This is also a common problem. There are 2 separate solutions. I would try them in this order
1. Clear app data /cashed for play services
2. Install Google play services beta from the play store
See if that doesn't improve battery life.

Poor battery life on second P30Pro

Hello, I had p30pro and was perfectly satisfied with it but from curiousity changed it for oneplus 7 pro and then galaxy note 10+, wasn't satisfied with those devices because of worse battery life than p30pro, I had 8-10h screen on time with p30pro and ~5h with one plus 7 pro and galaxy note 10+. (gsmarena endurance rating is not correct, p30pro according to them has 100h endurance rating and galaxy note10+ has 107h, so I expected battery life to be pretty much the same but its far from that )
because of magnificent battery life on p30pro i changed back to p30pro, but this is second unit I got and battery life is not like on the first one. first one was 1 year old 8/128, current one is 8/256 3 months old and I have like 5-6 hours screen on time with new one which does not satisfy me, battery life is primary reason i got back on p30pro.
usage is the same, same applications installed as far as i am aware
I have screenshot from first p30pro with 8hours screen on time and 25% battery left, it was so great that I had to save it  and battery life was contant like that
Other pictures attached is from current device, 3h31min screen on time with 38% battery left, so by the time it drops to 25% like screenshot from first p30pro it would be like 4h30min screen on time, big difference. battery life is constant like that
any tips, solutions, suggestions, thoughts?
-i did wipe the cache in recovery
-i tried dark mode
-no app seem to be draining the battery
solutions that i am thinking about:
-wait for 10.1 update for my device and see if there is any changes
-sell this one and get third p30pro (really dont want to do that, I will lose money and time and would be furious if i dont get good battery like on first device )
-factory reset (really dont want to do that, I will lose half a day again customizing and installing everything)
is integrated battery info correct, could there be something /an app that drains the battery but is not showing correctly in battery usage?
FAULTY UNIT?
There must be somethnig draining battery , either delete one by one apk and see if it improved, then you will know which apk was trouble, or hard reset and manually reinstall all apks, do not use backup as faulty apk will do same harm.
Second phone was new or second hand? If second hand you should do hard reset first.., tip for future..
one thing I noticed on screenshot from first device is that I was using only one sim card back then, I turned off second one now and will see if battery improves, altough in Screen On Time thread I see people have 8-10 screen on time regularly with two mobile signals.
"there must be something draining the battery..." can there be anything like that but not showing in battery usage correctly? because everyhing in battery usage seems fine.
both phones was second hand and I did reset them, but from menu, dont know if there is any difference in reseting from recovery?
1. EMUI 10.1 have same battery in some cases may be worse battery than EMU 10
2. Why sell phone if this one is good just need find what eat battery
3. Factory reset thats in many cases fix drain problem but if you wont do that why you not do backup first than make factory reset
Solution
1. Try put all apps in sleep mode settings ---> battery ---> startup apps (there enable sleep mode on all apps only leave apps from where you want get notifications)
2. Dark mode i recommend you use it any time its not save your battery too much but it can help to save battery
3. Use Huawei optimizer app to clean junks and optimize phone
4. Disable synchronizatios
5. Disable GPS, NFC, Bluetooth if you not use it (if you use any navigation than just use GPS when you not need it)
6. I see your Google Chrome use too much battery use instead Kiwi Browser
7. Same about Instagram use light version of instagram or try InstaMod app its better for me
8. Your screen display use 24+ % battery try lower light i have set on AUTO BRIGHTNESS (Tips in settings display set lower resolution)
9. Cell standby try disable mobile data when you not need and btw try put sim in another slot
10. Disable or Uninstall all apps from Google i have disabled Google Movies, Google Music, Google Drive and mayn other apps just disable all apps which you not use
11. I see you are on stock launcher you can try Nova Launcher or Evie Launcher or Microsoft Launcher....(Tips Evie Launcher is one of the lighweight launcher and build for performance/battery i now use Microsoft Launcher which is same as Evie but with little more functions
If you need any info just ask
so I disabled second sim card yesterday and this is result I have now, much better! 1h16min screen on time with 86% battery, which corresponds with about 8h screen on time :good:
can't believe another sim card has so much impact on battery life. my signal is full!
in next few days I will try only 3g or 2g enabled instead of 4g for second sim card to see if that makes a difference.
5 hours & 40% still left, always using data connection. Mainly browsing and watching videos.
VOG_L29D EMUI 10.1.0.126, firmware updated using hisuite proxy
But also any other firmware version was giving the. Same SOT

Yes brightness is always automatic (indoor and outdoor) , i rarely use wifi,
Usage, facebook, YouTube and emailing, and some light gaming.
Also I'm using two sim cards but disabled 4g on the first sim card wich i use in calls and left the data line 4g.

I think I found your cause of drain. Go to settings, apps, apps, on the top right click on show system apps, then check for hms core. Click that, then on the top right you will se a gear. Click on the gear and carefully untick everything that has to do with data sharing, analytics etc. Check your battery again and let me know mate ??

Note 9 Battery Usage on Wifi

So this is my last resort as i have literally tried everything else already. Recently (speaking a month or so) i have noticed a severe drop in sot on my Note 9 aswell as overnight drain of ~20% with no Apps running. After several tests i have come to the conclusion that the drain seems to stem from having either Wifi or LTE enabled. Now i am aware that both of those require a decent amount of Power in active use, but it does not explain the sudden extreme drain where as before it was ~ 5-6% overnight.
Things i have tried: Replaced the battery, Factory reset, Cache wipe, Disabling all Apps, etc..
The only thing that really worked was disabling Wifi or LTE. Now my question is, has someone had similar issues or can someone provide an App that actually shows Android System Battery usage for Galaxy Devices again? According to the built in Battery Manager Apps only draw about 3% of the 20% that are gone overnight.
Any help or info would be much appreciated.
Device Information:
Note 9 SM-N960F Dual Sim Exynos
Android 10 Latest Update (Nov 6 2020)
OneUi Version 2.5
Bump, really no one who has the same issue?
Try booting your device into Safe Mode and see if that happens. If it doesn't then there is an app on your device that is constantly updating the data to the server and is causing the battery drain. You will have to uninstall it.

Question [Battery Drain ISSUE] S21 Ultra 512Gb/16Gb Exynos, Pics with 3 Different Scenarios in Post , BATTERYEXPERTS HELP!

Hey guys,
So i got my Ultra chunk on Jan 22nd (Italy shipments were early) and been testing it non stop on different scenarios on aprox. 10 charge cycles by now and i want to share some of them to find out which apps are draining it in standby idle and WHY CANT I GET MORE THAT 5.30hrs of SOT...i watch every Exynos battery life test on Youtube and I wonder why i cant get those kind of numbers on my phone... is it because of 512gb/16gb? is it because of apps/settings?
1st scenario NORMAL (before update)(with lots of apps on sleep) :
https://imgur.com/a/WDmsNZK
2nd scenario HEAVY (after the update) :
https://imgur.com/a/S5Etest
3rd scenario IDLE FOR 2.30hrs (after update):
https://imgur.com/a/p34u7WE
4th scenario without SS: There was a scenario where i only used camera for a day with lots of UHD and single take (which is heavy on cpu and takes lot of power and heats up the phone in cold weather) and it was around 20% with around 2hours of SOT and lots of camera time...
PS: also i want to add that i added every app and pic/video from my NOTE 8(which i got 4.30hr of SOT!!) and the app count with aprox~590apps (including system apps) and its only ~200gb after i copied bunch of movies to it. I cleared cached 2times by now, tried putting apps to sleep (around 260 of them) and then tried the same apps on deep sleep and today i deleted all of those to let system do that for me.
WHAT SHOULD I DO?
adamlee2012 said:
Mine lost 2% in 57min of not been used. Definitely not normal. Hopefully Samsung are aware and send an update asap.

Which storage option and which variant? Exynos or SD?
what's your average SOT time when you're using it ?
Same issue
I doubt it's the 16gb/512gb configuration, and to be honest the first screenshot seems pretty reasonable, as youtuber tests are in perfect conditions and not switching apps or on mobile data.
So few questions:
WQHD/120Hz?
WiFi/5G/4G? If one of the later, what was your signal like?
Are literally all of your apps sleeping? If so that can actually be a drain if you're fully reopening apps that you use regularly. I would deep sleep anything you don't use often and let the system determine the rest
Emoji ap and chrome look like they're using quite a bit of battery considering very little use, have seen problems with chrome eating battery so might be worth finding a replacement.
Also seen smarthings has been said to be causing a lot of issues, but don't know if that's visible drain that gets reported or something that just causes it in the background.
Compared to my S10+, my s21u exynos seems to be closing apps way less aggressively i.e. YouTube Vanced is eating battery in the background unless I fully close it even if not watching a video. Hoping this improves with usage.
When starting from scratch (100%) with no apps open, my drain is like 0.6% per hour on WiFi with tap to make AOD, but seems to struggle to idle that well after use unless manually closing apps

No reception here and i didn't put it on airplane mode but now im starting to do so i got 5.47hr of SOT this cycle
Wifi is 2.4ghz with good reception (not great), i had apps that i didn't use on sleeping (removed them) , then did kinda same selection on DEEP SLEEP (again removed them too) and wanted to system to configure it but now system is not putting anything to sleep so its 0 in all three sections.
i used emoji AR for the first time in that cycle so that's why its there and never appeared after that. Chrome beta makes phone heat up slightly but i like it and can't switch to other browsers because of numerous reasons...
and about smartthings, should i unistall it completly or should i disable something for it?
also i removed facedata and also found that FINGERPRINT SCANNER was on ALWAYS ON so i switched it off too.
deep sleep messed up the apps , should i put the apps on sleep again?
also my animation scales are all set at 0.5x in developer settings could that drain it too?
also i jumped straight from note 8 so i dont know about the tips and tricks that S20 users did, is there a specific set of settings that i should turn off/on?
EDIT: Wanted to add if you have goodlock on your phones too? i have everyworking goodlock mod on my phone from galaxy store ( they're available in store just like US), could one of them cause the drainings?

Sounds like your apps are the problem. Go in the settings and restrict background data and background operation of them.
Google Play Services, Google Backup Transport and Framework are prime suspects.
Clear the data for all three.
Try blocking them with Karma Firewall*.

If you have a WiFi connection and have turned on WiFi calling, you shouldn't need to go into aeroplane mode.
This YouTube video explains the different sleep bins so worth a watch (
), but I would also let it settle for a few days if you're moving everything around every 5 minutes.
If it's saved passwords you are stuck in chrome for, I recommend a manager like bitwarden (works across all devices and browsers).
Good lock and animations shouldn't impact battery too much.
Did you use smart switch? Would always recommend a clean install, at least of settings.
Try charging your phone to full before bed, then seeing how much it drains overnight when asleep and if anything pops up on the battery usage that shouldn't
My battery on my S21 Ultra, 512GB, Exynos model has been outstanding.
When WiFi is on, I turn mobile data off
GPS is off
FHD+ display with 120hz
Adaptive brightness
Mail sync off
I don't play games on my phone, so no games installed.
I'm at 30% battery with nearly 7hrs SOT.

Wow, so it's not about the 512gb... great battery!
1.Did you use smartswitch when you started it?
2.how many apps you have approximately? Did you set up secure folder/dual apps
3.did you install any goodlock mods on it?
4.why fhd+? The qhd and fhd has the same batterylife according to phonearena test.
5.is your fingerprint reader set to always on? Do you have AOD on as well?
Appreciate the replies! Enjoy it

If you have a WiFi connection and have turned on WiFi calling, you shouldn't need to go into aeroplane mode.
This YouTube video explains the different sleep bins so worth a watch (
), but I would also let it settle for a few days if you're moving everything around every 5 minutes.

I tried deepsleep before too, it messes up the apps completely unlike the normal sleeping method, so im back to using that. Put 265apps to sleep yesterday. Idle battery drain is almost fixed after turning off aod/fingerprint always on sensor and also deleting smartthings, i dont know which one did that
I used smartswitch at fisrt, but only for moving media and contacts/messages, i didnt move the settings.
Secure folder and dualapps make different googleplay services when you create them which is like having two phones at the same time... I wonder if those are the issues

I do have goodlock. Only the custom clock mod.
I have approximately around 80 apps installed (including the stock Samsung ones)
FHD+ because if the display is barely distinguishable at QHD as opposed to FHD+, you may as well save as much battery as you can while still having the same experience.
I used SmartSwitch when I initially came from the Oppo Find X2 Pro and that went smoothly.
Fingerprint scanner is constantly active.

HEY GUYS, i included everyone to get the last feedback from you all:
So i think it's getting better this is from 90% to 2% yesterday to today, with 6.15hrs of SOT and ~19hrs of Batterylife, BTW i ran 3dmark (slingshot) and androbench and tried new games too so it was fairly more than normal usage ;
I disabled AOD and fingerprint always on, deleted Smartthings and cleared Play Services cache also i did put 265apps to regular sleep.
Things that i didn't change were: The wifi was alwasy on, bluetooth was on for the majority of the time too, sync on, WQHD+ 120hz, NFC on, and since there is no reception here i put the phone on Airplane mode i still have my goodlock mods and secure folder stuff there too.
And about the SMART SWITCH, I just want to show you guys that i only moved my media and contacts/messages to the new phone and not the settings.
Check them out:

So I always used tap for AOD (with option for fingerprint sensor to show when AOD turns on) as well as a routine for AOD always on when charging, best of both worlds and its an unnecessary drain in my eyes anyway.
I was worried at the battery life I was getting (had the phone from the 28th) but does seem to be gradually improving. I also removed GSAM and Accubattery so I wasn't constantly checking (and they run quite heavy in the background, like 500mb between them).
The other thing to remember is when people are showing battery of over a day, there's like 7-8 hours where it just idles loses 3/4/5%, so the battery life isn't really much better, so 24 hours of usage with 6 hours SOT really isn't that different to 18 hours with 6 hours SOT
Hopefully the improvements keep coming, honestly I'd delete the battery tracking apps and just use the in built one seeing as there isn't a clear drain from anything, you'll stop worrying and checking it all the time, thus saving more battery lol

I'm running on Pie with the factory load for Device Care. That may work well for you but not on the software I have.
I do best with all power management disabled.
Android Services battery use went nuts with power management enabled... and it got worse not better as the days progressed.
With AOD always on it uses less than 1% @ hour for my 10+ so I leave it on.

i had that AOD option since the beginning and some on the other forums wrote that they had improvements after disabling AOD so i disabled that and fingerprint (which is almost useless since i dont need it to scan constatly when im not gonna unlock with my fingerprint anyways i use my mi band as my smartlock)
also i had to use GSAM since i didn't full charge it to prevent degradation and only charged it to 90% hence why the stats are only for 88% of usage. ill delete it after i get another full usage statics. wish the system battery tracker monitored the battery since UNPLUGGED and not since FULLCHARGE.
my phone is getting better imo, and less 1~2hr less than other guys is kinda acceptable since i know NOBODY has that many apps as me lol and also nobody uses both securefolder and dualapps as much as me too.
i really push my phones to extreme and if this one could get me around 7hr of SOT with my usage ill be happy,
but i still think that a software update is indeed needed for Exynos models
The Exynos model really needs a Firmware Update....

Try Gallaxy Labs Battery Tracker, that's all I use most times.
I never use the fingerprint scanner.
AOD was never an issue but Goggle Backup Transport, Framework and Google Play Services are.
Those can cause excessive usage when on AOD on my setup. AOD battery usage should be around .6-1% @ hr max.

galaxy labs modules doesn't work on android 11,
also there is no Goggle Backup Transport, Framework in apps, maybe you're on older android/device so the methods are different for different devices and OS versions
