Has anyone found any replacement SIM trays? - Sony Xperia 1 II Questions & Answers

Hey guys, I have the AT-51 and I want to try and see if this phone has a second SIM card reader, but just lacks the ability to hold one. I haven't been able to find any trays. So far I've seen discussions asking whether it is possible, and I don't mind being a guinea pig and installing a 52 firmware, in fact I've already done that and I can confirm it does show to sim slots in the settings, but I can't actually test it unless I can put in a second Sim. If anyone knows where I can buy a tray, or has one, that would be awesome.

As you can see in the Picture of the SIM Tray, it seems you are correct, the Hardware is there.
You only need the SIM Card holder tray. Good Luck.

How about 3D-printing it?

Would be very interested in this also !
Flashing different firmware is easy.
@DeathShot9 Do you also get 2 IMEI numbers now ?

I considered that, but I don't know how to do 3D modeling, and the tolerances would need to be very fine in terms of the holder itself, it's around a mm of high difference.

I am not running the firmware atm, and I can't recall if I did or did not, however, it is possible that an IMEI would appear if the phone detected a sim, or if not that the phone can be reconfigured. I can't get a clear answer on whether TWRP can allow us to modify the system partition, but if it can, then it should be pretty trivial unless it is disabled on the hardware level by removing some component. I'm going to probably regret saying this, but, if we can't get the second sim to work via software, and we can get high resolution photos of both the 51 and 52 boards front and back to reverse engineer and compare for any differences, and the difference ends up being a capacitor or a diode or something, I'd seriously consider soldering those on.

why not just get the simtray from the AT-52 wouldn't this be available in regions that sell that model as a spare ?

You can try “taobao” by china.

iPodTouch Hack - unlocked

Rumour has it - there is a hack available to turn the iPodTouch into an unlocked iPhone!
What the hackers fail to see is that an iPod will never make a very good phone. Anyway Palm has countered these claims stating that touch is a Palm thing and it makes good sense ; -)
I know I'm a n00b, but what the hell is the relevance of this in a WM6 forum for the Hermes?
Thread moved to off-topic. In the future, please post in the appropriate forums.
Thanks.
Lol. There's a rumour that the iPod can be turned into a phone?
Well well. So they didn't have the space and hardware to build in a 3g radio in the phone, but they threw in a whole phone just for free in the ipod? That's jolly decent of them.
Unlocked too, that's just the icing on the cake. Apple is too kind.

Possibly they would hack my Wizard so it could run WinXp with multi-touch feature.. and fire laser as well?
I think that video has something to do with this thread

I just saw the Youtube video on this. All I have to say is....
ARE YOU KIDDING???
Who could possibly be stupid enough to think that just by inserting a spring in the bottom of an ipod would magically give it the hardware and software capabilities to dial a phone number?
Hey, do you think that if I insert the spring in the bottom of my laser printer I could turn it into a 60 inch LCD with High Definition and HD DVD Player?
I swear!!! This kind of logic is taken straight out of ET The Extraterrestrial. Just clamping things together that all of the sudden, bam! A whole bunch of kitchenware tuned into an intergalacting transmitter.

WAHAHAHAHAHA!! LOL!!!
frickin laser beams... haha!
even if it's cheaper to produce 1 type of pcb and have software take care of the various models i seriously doubt apple would make ipodtouch with all the phone components inside too
heck they might use the same pcb but there is no reason they would have the smt machines add the components for the mobile which would never be used

While this guy tend to make his video as 'good' as possible with all the crap about the wire poking thing and recorded dialing tone crap.. he missed the point of where do I insert the phone SIM card. I bet there would be some stupid guy who will tell you that, you can insert a SIM card into the (say) SD card reader and poke here and there to make a phone call Example of such moron ideas --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=779184&postcount=2

Repair accident

I hope my grave mistake will be a lesson for those who decide to open the phone.
Long story short - ALWAYS, ALWAYS check the SD card slot before disassembling the phone. I forgot to do that and left the card in (I intended to replace the housing), and as a result, I have the slot cracked open. Now all my attempts to find a repair shop which can put it back together failed and the phone worths zero.
Now I am wondering whether anybody here can help me fix it. The problem is I cannot find any schematics of the SD card slot to put the spring and the other part back (I actually do not have any instruments except small screwdrivers and tweezers). If there is such a great guy who can do that, I will gladly pay him or her (I can mail the motherboard and parts together with a check that will cover mailing it back to me).
Here are the pictures of what happened and what was inside the slot:

and
Man, I feel for that damage =\
If I didn't lived in such a far place as Brazil, I would try to fix your phone.
My Wizard is disassembled, and right now, all I could see is that the spring goes on right side, as staring the motherboard on the first pic.
I'll take some macro shots here and try to help you.
Good luck and cheers

Thank you for your kind words, man! Yes, any hint will help - I have no idea how that little cog is attached (and if it's not bent).
deleted as doubled
Sorry for asking for help again!
Does anyone know where to get the schematics of push-pull SD card slot? I wanna try fixin it myself, its just that cog that bothers me.
Another possibility would be to buy a drive for lets say, netbooks, and either solder it to the MB, or carefully disassemble to see what's inside. The question is - where to buy such part?
Thanks in advance to everybody!

[Q] Need Info ASAP

Hello!
I'm in need of a LED Flash Module for my Nexus One! Seems my son decided to play with it while I was asleep and somehow he broke the flash module. I cannot find any place listing this part as I have replaced the internal speaker and digitizer before and those parts were easy to find. It looks like the led flash module might be the same across several phones. If anyone can point me in the right direction of a supplier that carriers the flash module for the nexus one or one that is compatiable that would be great. I really need this asap as I use my phones camera and flash daily and without out the flash led I have to use my wifes phone....
So any ideas on where to aquire this part or even a broken phone I could take it out of
Thanks,
Nycro
Are any other phones flash modules the same "mytouch 3G slide" looks simlar in apperance from the back.
Sorry if I seem desperate but I love my Nexus One and do not want to replace it as I cannot find any phone that is comparable yet ... the G2x was close but with the screen not being up to par with what I want .... I really need to find a flash module led replacement asap it would make all the differance in me have to but my Nexus to rest :/
So anyone that has any idea whatsoever on where to find one or a phone I could get one out of please let me know
Thanks!
You mean like this part? lots of them on ebay...
http://cgi.ebay.com/OEM-Flex-Cable-Repair-Part-HTC-Google-Nexus-One-G7-G5-/310251340572?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item483c6bc31c
Well that is the part where the led flash would go but as you can see in the picture they have the camera module installed but not the flash module. I just need the LED that goes into the port next to the camera its a actual removable part that goes there. I will upload a picture from that auction with the module circled that needs the part and then a picture of the actual part.
Here is the module without the flash unit

And here is the picture with the flash unit installed
All I need is the flash unit not the motherboard cable or the camera unit JUST the flash if anyone could find me a part number or a place where I could order it as that would be great! I know others are in need of this part as well... My son somehow got it turned on and it was on all night and it burned it out and melted the plastic lens on the actual battery cover...
Pictures sources :
First one is a ebay auction that was listed above
Second picture if from ifixit.com on there nexus one teardown.
I hope this makes it easier to know what I'm looking for! If anyone can find this part and needs one themselfs for helping me find it I would buy you one as well... Im desperate to get this fixed I use my flash on my phone on a daily basis and without it im at a loss here..... I know some company must have it due to all the other parts I see on ebay!
Thanks,
Dale

Sim stuck in slot!

My friend (elderly) gave me her Xperia Z so I could get her sim setup. Because I have been getting over 2 nights up straight, watching my dog (he has neurological issues and I am nursing him currently) I was really tired and accidentally put a micro sim adapter in the sim slot the wrong way up. Its now well and truly stuck in there. It started out being stuck half way (the hole wasnt coliding with the pins though so hopefully they arent damaged? then i pushed it in completely in the hope of maybe hitting an ejecting mechanism, no such luck. Im taking it to a local repair shop. Im really worried (she knows and isnt worried lol) that one of the pins might have been snapped off? I have tried shaking it about and I cant hear any rattling at all (maybe theres not enough room for it to do so even if it was the case) so maybe thats a good start. I did apply a bit of gentle force to pull it out but I didnt feel anything break or hear any snaps.
If I did break a pin, how much do you think it will cost for an independent phone shop to repair it for me? I dont mind paying the fee because its through my negligence.
probably would be cheaper to buy one used or online

Managed to get the guy round at the shop to get the back off for me and I have done the rest. I have now cut off the end of the adapter and I can happily report that NONE of the pins are broken! Great news. Now i just need to figure out how to get it out because the rest is still stuck. If I cut the one side more than the other I might be able to rotate it out.

Help with network unlock

Hello, it's been quite a while since I posted in here, but I'm hoping to pick the experts' brains on this one. So I purchased a Galaxy S20 FE 5G from digicircle.com that was supposed to already be unlocked and ready to use on any carrier. I mentioned the source website in the interest of being thorough, not as advertising. I want to cover all bases to get the best possible answer for my issue. This phone is a Verizon phone. According to my carrier, Boost, Verizon phones that are unlocked are supposed to be compatible with their network. However, when I entered the IMEI on their website, there is an error. If anyone is interested in what the error is, I can post it in a comment reply upon request. I called Boost, and customer service said the phone may not be unlocked. So I contacted Verizon, who refuses to give me any information regarding whether the phone is locked or not, and even mentioned the phone may be blacklisted, which it is not, as I have ran the IMEI on a couple checker websites, and even contacted Samsung and had them run it, and in all cases it came back clean. So I went through a third party site, rapidnlock.com to obtain an unlock code, since I wasn't getting anywhere. Again, all in the interest of being thorough with the information. So the problem I'm having is I can't get the prompt for entering the code to come up. It's supposed to automatically pop up when I start the phone with my Boost SIM inserted, but nothing happens. I also tried using the USSD code for the prompt, and it tells me that there is either a connection error or the code is invalid. And this message pops up even if I enter the IMEI code. So I'm at a loss for what to do here. I hope someone has the answer. If it comes down to it, I will return the phone and get my money back, as I have found this phone on ebay similarly priced, though unlocked from T-Mobile, which now is merged with Sprint and should definitely be compatible with Boost, if it is a compatibility issue and Boost's customer service is a bunch of idiots (which at this point wouldn't surprise me). Thank you for taking the time to read this lengthy post, and I look forward to your answers.
