Brightness Issue - Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Questions & Answers

The brightness in youtube app keeps flickering. The brightness bars stays at the same place but brightness fluctuates. Try it with your devices

Any specific video or all? I didnt notice any issues with my phone.
Sent from my S20 FE 5G

Nope no issues with YouTube

Try this video with 70 percent brightness

Original format and zoomed to fill, perfect. 70% brightness.

Auto brightness works wrong in the dark

I have my new Note9 on wireless charger in the night. When I get it from the charger and check it the brightness it very high. When I turn automatic brightness off and on then the brightness is decreased to correct value.
Now I created a workaround using Tasker but am I alone with this issue?
I remember that similar issue was on S9 and S8, so is Samsung going to put this bug in each new model?

I have yet to find ANY phone that gets attenuation right.
I've found the Note 9 to do OK when cranking it up for well-lit outdoor use, but,it's a bit too dim on the lower end in the other extreme dark/poorly lit situations.
So,it does seem this bug/feature has continued.
Too bad there's not some some fine-tuning baked-in,say, in dev options, to create your own attenuation from lowest to highest brightness (on all phones).
It worked perfect since I bought the phone in Sept until the latest update in Nov. Now the auto brightness did not auto adjust. Either needed me to toggle the auto brightness to OFF and On again or hit the power button to OFF the display and ON back the display.
I find auto brightness to be a bit to bright in lower lighting conditions.
I came back to samsung note 9 (UK model 128gb 6gb) from oneplus 5T which had great battery optimisation and great auto light adjustment.
Overall the oneplus has better face recognition software (quicker and more accurate and you don't have to look at a very particular distance) the fingerprint (sensor) on the oneplus is also quicker.
Hope samsung resolve the bug.

I am also facing the same issue.
I am also facing the same problem brother when I unlock my phone using iris scanner the brightness increases and then doesn't drop to required level in low light please notify me when you find a solution.
Try...
Settings
Biometrics and security
Face recognition
Brighten screen
Turn it off see if it helps.
(assuming that you are using intelligent scan that could be the issue for the bright at the unlock and taking a bit to go down)

Note 9/8 max screen brightness override in the sun with autobrightness switched off

Hey guys so I need to know if there is a sensor issue.I don't use auto brightness no more because if you go in the sun the brightness overrides itself to brighter than max brightness and it is the reason why I've had burn in a few times so far and had to get the screen replaced. But I've also noticed that with auto brightness off but you have the brightness maxed out and go in the sun or shine an led torch at the sensor the screen will kick up to override max brightness sun mode just like when using auto brightness. Is this normal behaviour for the note 9.i know the note 8 goes into ultra bright mode even with auto brightness off ,because I saw a thread on reddit discussing this issue is this a new feauture from oreo update or did it always do that ?
If it's a new feature its bad because out side in tge sun using full brightness in manual mode is pretty safe if you don't keep it that bright too long.but the fact that it will kick into ultra brightness that's an issue that will cause burn in.
Can you guys please test your phone using an led torch shined at the sensor or go in the sun thanks guys

My Note 9 on the latest Pie beta does not go into the max brightness when Adaptive Brightness is off and I hold the phone to a light.

You need to be in manual brighmess mode and crank the slider to max for the max sun mode to kick in if you go into the sun .samsung are forcing this override brightness on us now This can failure burn in
For me, if adaptive brightness is on, whatever brightness I try and set while in sun light, it forces the "Maximised" brightness but if I turn off adaptive brightness and change the brightness manually, it stays how I set it, even in direct sun.
Running N960FPUS2CSB1.
My note 8 and note 9 both do it on the same uk oreo fw.i went to store with my led torch 10 min ago and tested the phones in the store and they all do this.if you have the slider set to max.if you have the slider even slightly off max it won't do it.it must be max

Why is this phone's auto-brightness so utterly useless?

What's going on with this thing? i always have to switch the screen on and off to get it to adjust to the current lighting. Everything about this phone is such a mess.
Do you have adaptive brightness turned on? My snapdragon did not work until I enabled that setting.

It might be a problem with the ambient light sensor on your unit. My S8+ does the same thing, other S8's don't. Get it replaced.
Iam pretty sure its somewhat normal. Auto brightness has never been great on Samsung phones. I realised this when i briefly switched to the Iphone xs. Its auto brightness worked perfectly. I find the adaptive brightness on the S10 plus to be terrible too. Its as if its either too dark or too bright and sometimes it changes without the lighting conditions changing. Its tolerable but its def nowhere near as good as my iphone xs. Its strange because you would think its a feature that would be easy to get right.
work great for me, better than my old S9
I found one issue. I have used a couple of screen savers with clocks on my night stand. They automatically dim the screen. I noticed every time after using them that the auto brightness was too dark. I figured out that since the phone was on auto brightness when the screen savers dimmed the screen, it was being factored into the averages and causing the overall brightness to be lower than I wanted. Now I try to turn off auto brightness before I use the screen savers. I'll probably set up Tasker to do it for me soon.

I've noticed the same thing, on my XS Max I rarely had to adjust the brightness but on the S10 I have to do it quite a bit compared to the XS.

I'm very happy with it. Especially the learning part. I like to usually have the screen dimmer than standard and after a few days it started to do this automatically.
Works like a charm I'd say.
I agree that the S10 does not seem to respond to ambient light well when setting the screen brightness, especially in dark settings. I have a Bixby Routine to set my screen to 10% at night and even then it's still too bright.

Auto brightness issue on Pixel Experience 10 +

Hello, i'm using this great rom on my Mi 9t pro, Pixel Experience 10 + latest version.
There is only a issue with auto brightness.
Sometimes, in medium light ambients (desk light), the brightness start changing from low to high every 3 seconds.
In low and high light ambients it's working properly.
Someone can help me?

But after some days the bug returns

PROBLEMAS GALAXY NOTE 9

Good afternoon,
I am a user of a galaxy note 9 SM-N9600 snapdragon, I do not know if they will know but there is a massive Samsung update problem that turns the screens green, apparently it is a problem of the light sensor with adaptive screen sensors, since When I light the sensors with the flash it improves a lot, as well as when I see a video with HDR on YouTube or a video with the Samsung player, but if I see any video on YouTube without HDR it looks bad, then I wanted to ask you what Everyone knows if there is any option to activate the hdr not only when watching videos but permanently, since this would momentarily solve the problem of thousands of users, until Samsung wants to solve their problem, attached photos .
