Screen Unresponsive/Lagging when wireless charging?? - Google Pixel 5 Questions & Answers

So I have this weird issue where the the screen becomes partially unresponsive while wireless charging, like I'll have to tap an icon 3 or 4 time before it registers along with scrolling being really unpredictable. I have a case for it and it's this one. If I take the case off then the issue goes away. I am using the official pixel stand and also some wireless charging car mount I got on amazon. I found this out because I was using the car mount to charge my P5 wirelessly and was trying to use navigation but the screen was really unresponsive, after I noticed it I tried it on my pixel stand and it does the same thing. There was one other guy on the google forums who posted about this issue but no one has presented a solution yet. I just don't understand what wireless charging has to do with the screen being unresponsive and only when I use my case. On top of that the case I have is not very thick at all. My best guess is that the case I have has a thickness that is at the threshold of thickness for wireless charging to work properly so the phone constantly switches from "charging" to "not charging" over and over again and that is somehow lagging the entire phone making it seem like the screen is unresponsive. If anyone else has this issue or if others could test this out with their own P5 (with whatever case and wireless charger you have obviously) and report back that would be great.

Touch input bugs when charging, this is new to me.

This never used to happen, but I switched to a new charger (my car charger with a wall socket adapter) and now, when the phone is charging, any touch input to the screen gets..well..I suppose the best word is "Garbled". If I try and switch between homescreen pages, it will almost appear as if it is "struggling" to do so, like, it will shake and stutter and maybe get halfway to the new page but will stay on the first. When browsing, about eight of ten touches to anywhere on the screen will immediately send the page to magnifying glass mode.
This only occurs when charging, and only since I started using this new charger adapter. Any ideas?

I had a very similar problem but what i had was an USB AC adapter. I plugged the phone into the USB slot using the USB cable. Everything seems to be charging fine but then it starts to really screw up.
This did not occur when recharge from the laptop. So It was easy to conclude that there was some kind of problem with the charging unit compatibility.
Maybe you should also try a different charger.

Nexus one car dock - problematic?

So I was going to purchase the official htc car dock and I came across problems such as the phone failing to save the dock settings and overheating when placed in the car dock.
Can anyone whose has the dock please confirm if this is true? Does cyanogenmod allows the dock settings to be saved?
Umm..Since the Google store Closed today, where are you intending on buying the dock?
Also Most Phones will get hot when charging and using GPS Navigation and the same time, my G1 overheated and N1 does get warm.
Its becuase the Battery is being drained real fast, and trying to charged simulatneously.
Why don't they make some sort of circuit, that could bypass charging the batt. temporialy and run the phone off ac?
I have found that when charging, using GPS / Navigation and in the hot sun the N1 will get very hot. In fact I've had two sudden reboots which I believe were overheating.
It works fine if you only plug in the charger for short periods of time ... which is enough to keep it going.
The BT speakerphone worked well with the stock FroYo but I think there may be issues with CM6.0 RTM. The BT connects but I've only had a couple of calls and I am not sure if it was using the N1's speakerphone or the car mount's speakerphone.
I have had one or two calls not use the dock for audio and instead use the built in speaker, but other than that it's great. The phone gets warm, but so does using the wall charger that came with the phone. It has never overheated.
But as mentioned before, unless you have already purchased the dock you are probably out of luck. I don't know where you could buy one now that the store is closed.
The N1 has a bug whereas sometimes when it's plugged in being charged, the touch screen goes wacky and becomes either unresponsive or the touch positions are way off. I've found that simply pressing the top button to turn the screen off then back on fixes it right away.
This is probably the issue you're been reading about. That aside the dock is great and have no qualms recommending it.

i've had that too, but not when it was docked, i was playing skies of glory and downloading something via 3G in the background, and it was pretty hot outside, so it did the same thing..
about the car dock, the phone does get hot, but it never failed me inside the car dock, you can also turn your A/C to go to the windscreen to keep it a bit cooler.
With Eclair i had the problem that when it was in the dock and i got a call it never actually used the dock for the phone call, now in Froyo that works just fine, i get a call, the trackball flashes blue and i can hear and talk through the dock audio.
It's definetly worth buying, i didn't have any major issues with it yet!

I have this problem too. Do all n1s have this? I was about to return mine.

How does the LED Cover work?

I'm curious about the technology inside the LED Cover - what powers it? What's behind the display tech? How does the phone send it information?
Does anyone have any insight? I figured NFC explained most of it, but I was surprised to see that it functions fully with NFC being on.
The case gets power from the phone in similar way as wireless charging, or s-pen and those LEDs don't need much. I think it uses NFC for communication and I suspect there are some magnetic sensors that trip and let the phone know the cover is there, so NFC switch off maybe just mean it won't communicate with anything else, but cover.

So I guess some sort of conductive power method? I didn't even think of how the s-pen works - it's more than likely the same method.
Magnets
For clear view LED cover you will notice a round thing on the cover. It is a magnet. On the back cover also sme magnet.
LED works by magnetic induction.

Actually NFC works with the cover on, but only when the cover is open - ie. phone is unlocked. I have no problems with pairing my NFC headphones with the cover on.
Does this mean the wireless charging in the note 8 goes two ways?
Not only can it be used to receive a charge, but it can provide a charge, too?
Are there any other mobiles that can do thee same? Or is it a common feature?
Its using NFC which has a small wireless charging component to it -
The NFC / paywave function on your credit card recieves a small amount of power which powers the chip and they can communicate at 13mhz.
The power supply can be up to 2.3 volts at 6 milliamps. Thats enough to power a few tiny LED bulbs.
As with all wireless power, it is incredibly inefficient and so i see it as just a battery drain. Probably would have been better to use a semi opaque window in the case which just shows the phone screen and positioned a clock to show through, building on the Always-On Display feature.
I've been using the LED case for several months now and I did not notice any significant battery drain. Keep in mind the LEDs only light up when you either hit the power button, close the cover or when a notification comes in. They never stay on for more than a couple seconds. Also note that when the case is closed, the AOD is turned off, saving whatever power those pixels are consuming. So AOD always on vs. a few inefficient LED's on for a few seconds. I'm sure it all depends how often the LEDs are turned on as to whether you consume more or less power.
As for just having a window, well then you would not have the touch gestures on the case itself. You can answer or dismiss a call by a swipe on the display of the case.
One thing I noticed when using the wireless charger is that charging stops once the LED case front lights up. Charging resumes once the LEDs disappear.
It's a flaw. Everytime I must flip open the case to do wireless charge.

Probably via the wireless charging pad on the back of the device. Or via the electromagnetic grid that powers the S-Pen

The S-Pen gets it power from the electro-magnetic grid that is under the display. But it has to be close enought to the display to receieve a charge.
Sadly, Note 9 display won't react when hovering over screen with spen finger.. i remember it worked in old days. anyone can explain technical difference?
i have a note 10 plus and two led cases after the last update both cases work but make strange symbols ..... did reset the phone but nothing changed....

Screen getting too responsive while charging?

Had this phone for a couple of weeks now and basically I'm really happy with it. I just noticed a couple of things while charging that are bugging me.
First of all, when I plug in my phone I can sense the charging current in my finger that touches the metal plate on the bottom of the phone. It's just a very slight sensation, but I can amplify it a little when using the Sony quick charger (I remember reading a similar thing about Macbook Airs a couple of years back).
The thing that is really bugging me, though, is that the touchscreen is getting way too responsive. For example, I use Swype for typing and when my phone is plugged in I simply cannot type. I made a short video, first paragraph shows typing while plugged in, second paragraph is unplugged. I've also noticed this while using other apps, it's hard to describe, but it seems as if the phone registers some touches as clicks even though I'm just scrolling a website or browsing Twitter.
Has anyone else encountered this? Thanks for your help! Michael.
It's not normal to have leaking current, it's probably also the cause of anomalies you're describing. I recommend getting it checked by a Sony service center.

wondering how you got on with this, i had this last night and remembered your post! i actually had this with another charger years ago with a different phone. in both cases, swapping the charger for another one fixed the problem. last night, holding my finger on the screen was registering as a load of very rapid taps (you can imagine how crazy the vibration motor went). so yep, tried another charger, all good.
I use the Sony UCH12 and an original LG USB-C cable that is certified for QC3 (because I lost my Sony one) to charge my phone. While it does quick charge, like OP, I can't really use the phone while charging. The touch sensitivity becomes weird, like it will register multiple presses or inaccurate touches.
This problem does not occur when I use a QC2.0 certified powerbank though.
On a side note, the charging brick supplied in the box is a normal "slow charge" brick. Does Sony not want us to quick charge?

This varies by region, here the default supplied is the quick charger. But, for example, we didn't get the free bluetooth headset offer some places got.

Anyone having wireless charging issues after the last update?

I flashed the march ota like I usually do and now my wireless charging is all wonky. It connects then a few seconds later it turns off. I am using the charger I have been using since I purchased the phone and never had this problem. It is happening on my wireless charger and my car stand. Anyone else have this issue?
@kidhudi
Check the phone for swelling near the volume buttons. I've had two P4XL's the battery became swollen to the point the back glass starting separating from the frame. In both cases my wireless charging became intermittent and then finally stopped charging wirelessly altogether. In both cases charging with a cable always worked as expected. Your issue has absolutely nothing to do with any firmware/ota update. This is one of two prevalent issues with the battery. The other concerns a brittle connector to the battery cracking or even breaking, usually associated with dropping the phone.
