Customized fonts - Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Questions & Answers

Good day to all
i just got my new S20 FE 5G (UI 2.5) and trying to set it up. I'm trying to "install" some custom fonts that i already use almost everywhere. (i need to install custom fonts cause i'm greek and i need the greek language)
Till now everything that is provided in internet (youtube tutorials) have failed
- #mono installs it's own fonts, but the fonts are not available in the fonts list in settings-display in order to select one
- Zfont installs the fonts, but when igo to settings to set one of them i get the message "is not supported. do you want to uninstal?"
- ifont (in order to create apk from ttf) can;t read the storage, even when i have already gave permission.....
any ideas gyus? anyone managed to instal a custom font?

Use another launcher. Nova, Microsoft and others...

I use Nova launcher

On my Note8 I was able to use system-wide custom fonts via #HEX_ but on my new S20FE it says that the custom font support was removed in Android 10.
I guess it's a ploy by Samsung to make sure you use only fonts in the Galaxy Store which not only are 98% paid only, but comes in basic latin script (although some have Cyrillic script) or Hangul (Korean script) so you are out of luck if you need extended language support...
And no, using custom launchers won't help you outside the launcher itself.

[Q] Android 2.2 from shop: original or custom ROM?

Hello , i live in Israel and i want to buy an htc wilfire.
there is a shop that sells it and the shop's name is "E-Line", they offer an upgrade to android 2.2 for money [ because they add Hebrew support (keyboard + fonts)].
So i have a few questions:
1) The most important one: do you think they make an official update provided by HTC or install a custom ROM? (I'd like to root it after a few months of usage and i heard that i can't root the original froyo)
2) Is there any ROM (except "SUnAaBh" ) that HAS Hebrew support? (I'd prefer to buy on android 2.1 and change ROM by myself to 2.2, and save money)
If the answer to (2) is "NO" than:
3) Is there any way to install Hebrew keyboard and fonts onto a cusom ROM? (Please give a link or an explanation on how to do it)
As for the upgrade they "provide", there's no way to know if it's the official one or not.
Well, not with the information you (and probably they) have given.
About Hebrew support, Android 2.1 can't display hebrew glyphs (they're simply not implemented in the font) but it's relatively trivial to fix, and there's even a script on iandroid.co.il that does it for you (but you have to be rooted and your rom must be de-odexed).
Unfortunately this is my first post so I can't post outside links I'll PM you the forum thread for the script if you want. (or you can just google it)
Android 2.2 can display hebrew glyphs natively without any sort of patching, so you're not required to use specifically SUnAaBh or whatever
As for the hebrew keyboard, you just need an extra keyboard app that supports hebrew layouts, the ones I know of are AnySoftKeyboard (free) and Smart Keyboard Pro (costs .99$ I believe).
I should mention that both Android 2.1 and 2.2 have a bug that cause certain applications (notably gmail) to display hebrew words reversed, the script I mentioned also contains a fix for that, as does the Cyanogen rom.
thanks, you've helped me

[Q] OS Low level modifications

Hello everybuddy
Happy to be among you XDA members
I am new to android, I know how to work with Odin and what a custom ROM, rooted OS,... mean and need some answers to figure out some concepts:
1. I guess Google has made android a modular and structured platform, is it possible to extract some base applications from one ROM and install it on another one currently running on the phone (i9000 in this case), for example is it possible to extract ICS sms app and install it on a 2.3.3 ROM on the phone? or for example extract excellent Samsung keyboard from stock 2.3.3 ROM and install it in a custom ICS ROM?
2. How android manages input languages? for example I see one ROM providing 6 european languages and another with middle-eastern ones... does android provide a regular method to install and uninstall input languages from standard keyboard? (for example you may tell take X files from some ROM and add them to Y folder in another ROM) if so I may add some languages to an ICS custom ROM.
3. How it manages fonts? is there a regular method to add other fonts to the phone? and how to set the default one?
4. A strange problem I saw in a custom ICS rom was that it kept phone numbers in dash-based format (i.e. 090-233-23-23) and if the numbers already in address book was simple and dash-free, wile receiving incoming calls the phone app can't match the contact name in the address book and only shows the number! How you may change this? I like numbers stay simple and dash-free!
5. How to analysis all low-level OS files currently on the phone? for example is there some PC software similar to Odin that connects to phone and shows file system tree ?
Thanks in advanced for any help and reply
as far as keyboard goes if you are talking about swype you can get the swype beta which is free and works on Ics.
I have this on my phone running team icsgs.
Just do a quick google search for swype beta.

thanks for the reply,
I don't mean Swipe, all the features it provides, the way it changes language and...
I need to figure out how android provides modules
Hi, did you find out how input languages work? I just installed the ICS333 ROM on my Samsung Galaxy S (I9000) and would like to add Greek, which is not currently listed (in the Android keyboard settings > input languages).
low level?

[Q] changing fonts in mi note pro

Okay, I rooted my mi note pro. Installed two fonts apps. Tried to change the fonts, installed some fonts via the two apps and rebooted... after reboot fonts still not changing... where did I miss the step? Or xiaomi doesnt allow third party apps to change the fonts?
Those apps aren't designed to work with MIUI. You're better off just using the fonts in the theme store

Go to Settings > Additional Settings > Font > Choose system font. You have to use the MIUI ones
Nope. You don't have to use the MIUI Theme Store to find Themes with custom fonts.
Just use iFont but without the integrated MIUI Mode, but with the root mode!
It works and I use the slim variant of Neue Haas Grotesk, also known as Helvetica.
Oh Lord...

You are a magician... Thanks mate.
Very strange: different fonts seems to cause different overall performance for the phones UI...

Supporting fonts

Hello!
So, I'll go straight to the point: I use twitter a lot and several people use symbols/letters I can't see due to my font not being updated (I assume).
I decided to use a module to get the iOS 11 font, it looks cool and all but unfortunately I still can't see those symbols.
The question is: is there a way to support all these symbols by adding them to my current font or something?
Edit: Yes, my phone is rooted and I'm currently on MIUI 10 (Xiaomi EU ROM)
Hi
Did you try this theme ?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-redmi-4x/themes/themes-miui-v9-miios-pro-v4-0-t3807829
I guess you can chose only font, once installed on santoni ?

Question Themes App

Did anybody knows why the themes App don't allow to download always on screen themes, I see some videos with different skins about that.
My app version is the global 1.6.6.2.
Because that's the Chinese app (or Xiaomi EU that is based on the Chinese ROM)

If this option is available in your ROM, try setting your region to India and then reload the themes app.
If you succeeded, then you can reselect your original region, all you have installed will stay.
No luck changing my region, still doesn't work, any advice?
Sorry if I haven't explained all the procedure in details... just to be sure...
- Change region to India
- Reload the themes app
- Look for what you need in the themes app and, if found, install the theme and things you like.
- Thereafter reselect your original region.
In that way I was able to find and install unavailable options in my ROM (EEA) like fonts.
Sounds weird but you can change the fonts on the Global version of theme app by searching for something, fonts will be up and you can choose them and install
